A Lovely, Sunny Humpday

Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 74% with a dew point of 49°.  Winds are out of the North at 5-10mph.  We've got lots of cloud cover this early morning that could provide us with some morning rain showers (60-70% chance).  That cloud cover is also making an extremely picturesque, colorful sunrise at the moment.  The sky is breathtaking.  Expect the possibility of light rain this morning with sunny skies developing.  By this afternoon, it'll be just like yesterday... gorgeous with sunny, blue skies.  Temps will be near 70° with N-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... mostly clear, temps down to the mid-50s with N-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... sunshine, high of 69° with N-NW breezes at 10-15mph.  At this time, the weekend's looking partly to mostly cloudy (cloudier on Sunday) with seasonable autumn temps much like today... low-70s.  Speaking of the weekend, jammed packed activities again.  We've got Morey's Oktober Fest again on the Boardwalk, Mid-Atlantic Police and Fire Survivors weekend, the Race of the Gentlemen on the Beach, The Italian Fest in Wildwood,  Wildwood Crest Run as well as the Crest Yard Sale when the entire borough puts their "stuff" outside for Sale!  I'm taking a hiatus from my Blog for a bit.  This is my official "farewell" to September.  I love you  September!  My Plan is to check things on the weather on Thursdays and/or Fridays and perhaps give a quick weekend forecast for the next month or so.  If you need a weather report on Wildwood, simple click on "Weather-Wunderground" (the 20th link of my Personal Favs) and type in Wildwood NJ or our Zip Code (08260) and you'll receive the most accurate weather possible in my opinion.

A Perfect First Autumn Weekend!

Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear, colorful, sunrise skies with breezes out of the North at 5-8mph.  Humidity's low and it's a bit on the chilly side this morning.  I'm wearing a shawl as I blog and it gave my hubby quite a laugh when he saw me sitting her wrapped up.  It's 69° inside my home and I'd call that "on the chilly side".  It hasn't been in the 50s since March.  It'll be a beauty today though as things warm up.  Expect a beautiful sunny, blue-sky kind of day with temps tapping 73° with hardly any humidity.  Breezes will be out of the N-NE at 4-8mph.  Tonight... partly clear with some clouds in the mix as temps drop down into the low-60s and N-NW winds are 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... same as today with NW winds at 15-25mph.  Just a reminder... Wildwood's kicking this very lovely weekend... Moreys Oktober Fest is on the Boardwalk, North Wildwood's Irish Festival is today on Olde New Jersey Ave, along with the Classic Car Show in Wildwood all displayed along Pacific Avenue and of course the Seafarers Street Festival in Wildwood Crest at Sunset Lake.  It's happening baby and the weather's cooperating!

Welcome Autumn!

All Photos from this morning's Web Cam
Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  It's Autumn!  Today marks the Autumnal Equinox.  Ms Sun has officially crossed the Equator in the southerly direction.  It also marks when the daylight and nighttime hours are equally the same.  Whatever it means, Fall is here and it's kicking off its first morning in spectacular fashion. My webcam shots prove it.  It's lovely outside.  You couldn't ask for a nicer morning.  It's cool yet humid with heavy island air.  Humidity's 92% with a dew point of 70°.  Breezes are light out of the SE at 5-10mph.  There are clouds sprinkled all around us making for an incredibly spectacular Autumn sunrise.  In my opinion, Wildwood and surrounding local coastal areas have the most fantastic sunrises and sunsets, but Autumn kicks it up a notch and never disappoints.  Never.  This morning's no exception.  The Sun is trying to rise as I type and has less than half an hour to go.  After some rain showers last night, all is watered and fragrant.  We're going to have a 25% chance of more rain today.  Expect lots of clouds with peeks of sunshine, temps in the mid-upper 70s with S-SE winds at 15-25mph.  Tonight... 40% chance of rain including isolated thunderstorms.  Temps will be where they are now... low 70s with those (off-the-ocean) S-SE winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... 70% chance of precipitation with scattered showers and/or thunderstorms and potentially heavy rainfall and very stiff winds out of the S-SE at 20-30mph +gusting.  Sunshine comes back sometime Friday afternoon.  And, at this time, the "Irish Fest, Oktober Fest, Seafarers and Classic Car" weekend's looking 5-star albeit much cooler (60s/70s) and sunny with a true Autumn feel to it.  Enjoy!

Last Day Of Summer

Mornin'!  It's the last day of summer! It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 81% with a dew point of 61°. We're under a hazy Moonlit sky with big cumulus clouds around it making for a Werewolf kind of full moon glow.  Breezes are out of the East at 5-10mph and it's cool and lovely this dark, early morn.  It'll be  another lovely day with plenty of sunshine mixed with clouds.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 70s with East winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clouds roll in big time and cover the skies.  Temps will drop to the upper 60s / low 70s with E-SE winds at 5-10mph.  There's a 20% chance of rain.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy, high of 78° and windy with S-SE winds at 15-25mph.  At this time, Thursday and Friday still look like washouts as rain is in the forecast for both days.  Good-bye Summer, you've been good to us.  Until next year... see ya on the other side!

Harvest Moon Monday

This Morning's Web Cam Shot - North Wildwood
Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 84% with a dew point of 58°.  Lovely breezes are out of the East at 5-8mph and coming right into the house as they have been filling my home with a lovely seabreezes for a few days now.  There are partial clouds above us making for a spectacular sunrise along the horizon.  We've got Autumn in the cool air as the island birds are going bonkers displaying their happiness at this sunrise weather.  It's morning's like this that make you more attuned to the fact that just north and south of us are two of the best bird sanctuaries in South Jersey... Stone Harbor and Cape May respectfully.  So this last Monday of Summer is going to be spectacular.  Along with a full moon tonight, expect plentiful sunshine, temps in the mid-70s and East winds at 5-15mph.  Tonight... patchy fog (Spring and Autumn always brings the morning and evening fog), temps in the mid-60s and East winds at 5-10mph.  The sunset tonight will be that last 7:00PM sunset until March 13th.  Tomorrow... patchy fog in the morning and another sunny day with nice temps on tap again.  Wednesday, Thursday and Friday aren't looking too good as rain is in the forecast each day.  Enjoy today and tomorrow!

Partly Sunny Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 98% with a dew point of 68°.  Breezes are out of the North at 6-8mph.  At the moment, we're completely surrounded by cloud cover.  Ms Sun's up there and is doing all she can to break on through.  She will too as it'll be a partly sunny day with some clouds in the mix.  Temps will just about tap 80° with NW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tonight... mostly clear, low around 67° and NW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... a sunny day, temps in the upper 70s with NE breezes at 10-15mph.  So, we have a bit of a disturbance off the East Coast at the moment.  It's about 200 miles southeast of Cape May and has sufficiently organized to earn the name tropical storm "Odette".  She's headed northeast away from land at about 15mph.  We'll still feel her effects with high, very rough surf and rip currents.  I'd recommend not dipping.  Oh, the Full Moon is Monday which has begun to affect our tides as well as they're beginning to be much higher than usual.  I just read that Jupiter was hit by something big (either an asteroid or rock) and was caught on camera!  Just amazing.  And, Autumn is in 4 days!

It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 96% with a 72° dew point.  We're under gray rain clouds as it's raining lightly (almost just misty) with NE winds at 15-20mph +gusting.  We're supposed to get rain this morning as it'll be cloudy right into the afternoon.  We may see peeks of sunshine by late afternoon or by sunset.  Today's temps will be in the upper 70s with NE wind blowing in all day off the ocean at 15-25mph +gusting.  There's a tropical storm off our Coast (Invest 96L) creating some surf havoc.  We're in for some major surf and beach erosion today.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the low-mid 60s with N-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy, high near 80° and NW winds at 10-15mph.  Sunday... sunny with light winds and temps in the mid-70s.  There's still a lot of activity happening in the Wildwoods.  This weekend is jammed packed.  We've got Morey's Oktober Fest on the Boardwalk, North Wildwood's got "Boots On The Beach" (a Country Music Festival) along Old New Jersey Ave and of course it's the NJ State Firefighters Convention.  Except for today, it's gonna be a nice weather weekend for all of the above!

Partly Sunny / Partly Cloudy Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 90% with a dew point of 71° and winds out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  It's a lovely hazy, sunny (almost Autumn) morning down the Shore.  The weather will change today but for now, it'll be a sunny morning and early afternoon with clouds filtering in later today.  Temps will just about tap 80° with S-SW winds picking up significantly at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tonight... partly cloudy giving way to mostly cloudy as there's a 30% chance of showers.  Temps will drop down into the low 70s with S-SW winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... considerable cloudiness and possibly waking to showers (30% chance) with Ms Sun peeking through by mid-day, high around 76° and SE winds at 5-10mph.  As for this weekend... Saturday looks to be a partly cloudy day with temps in the upper 70s and Sunday will be the sunnier of the two days with temps in the mid-upper 70s.  I was on the beach yesterday and witnessed the beach patrol removing all the lifeguard stands.  The Lifeguards have been gone since Labor Day.  Everyone who swims is swimming at their own risk.  For those few lovely hours yesterday, with the season behind us, it was quite barren, quiet and lovely.  Unlike last year post-season (Covid Style), most folk have left the island.  Believe it or not, the few folks enjoying the beach along with me (on the enormous beach in Wildwood Crest), still chose to sit as close as possible to me with their loud babbling and their music blaring.  I'm sure this is some sort of human nature requirement but I'll never get this weird phenomenon.  Never.  One week until Fall!

Hazy, Hot and Humid

Mornin'!  It's 74° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 97% with a dew point of 70°.  Not much in breezes out of the N-NW at 2-4mph.   It's a warm, very still, heavy one this morning.  Ms Sun's up there and just starting to break through the hazy conditions.  It's almost identical to yesterday's start to the day.  I've checked a few weather forecasts for today and I'm getting mixed reports.  One says a mix of clouds and sun for the morning giving way to a mostly cloudy day.  The other says... mostly sunny but hazy today.  Everyone seems in agreement ... low-80s,  E-NE breezes becoming S-SE somewhere in the area of 5-15mph.  Tonight... some cloud cover, temps in the low-70s and S-SW breezes at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, temps barely tapping 80° with South winds at 10-20mph.

Warm, hazy Monday

This Morning's WebCam Shot - North Wildwood

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 88% with a dew point of 69°.  It feels warm and muggy outside this morning.  In fact, it felt like that going to bed and is the reason the AC went back on.  Ms Sun's up and it's hazy as you can get.  It almost looks like we're under major cloud cover.  Yet, the sun is shining.  I noticed last night while watching the late news/weather, that the fires out West are creating hazy cloud cover over the Eastern sky.  My guess is that this morning's heavy haze is smoke in our atmosphere.  All weather reports I've checked so far this morning are all saying that the sun is shining this early morning.  So with that... Ms Sun's up, breezes are light out of the West at 3-6mph and it feels like a summer morn out there.  It'll be a sunny (albeit hazy), humid start to the day.  As the humidity drops by late this morning, a few afternoon clouds will be filtering in along with those West winds at 5-10mph.  Temps will be in the mid-80s today with West winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, low 70s and W-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Pack the insect repellent if heading the beach!

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 81% with a dew point of 57°.  Ms Sun's up and shining on the island.  Speaking of "island", the island birds are cheerful and happy as their chirping, yapping and squawking are being heard all around us.  The windows are still wide open allowing the cool, sea air to fill the house.  It's fantastic as the aroma of fresh coffee is brewing along with my signature cinnamon coffee cake that's baking in the oven.  Today's not only my youngest daughter and husband's wedding anniversary (11 years), but it's me and hubby's 50th wedding anniversary! If you know me, you know I had to bake something!  Unlike our wedding day, (torrential rains throughout the day... which meant "good luck") the weather will be quite the opposite today.  Expect plentiful sunshine, temps in the mid-70s and S-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clear skies, temps in the upper 60s and S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, low 80s and SW winds at 10-15mph.  You couldn't ask for a more perfect weekend in the weather department.  I'd be remiss if I didn't mention those celebrating the anniversary of 9/11.  Every year since 2001, we've been sharing this important somber date with an incredible number of grieving folks.  I'll always celebrate this day as bitter sweet.  But, more sweet for me.  Luck truly has been by our side as we traversed through life together and still celebrate our love for each other.  With much gratitude, this one's for us!  Cheers!

Bright, Breezy, Beautiful Friday

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got Ms Sun up and at'em in a clear, blue sky along with breezes out of the NW at 15-20mph.  The best part is the humidity's down to 80% with a dew point of 60°.  It's that "Fall Feeling" outside again this morning!  Windows are wide open and allowing that lovely, briny air into the house.  We're going to have a beauty on tap today.  Expect plentiful sunshine, temps in the upper 70s with NW winds at 15-25mph. Pack a bungee cord for the beach umbrella if heading the beach today.  Tonight... clear skies, temps down to the low-60s with NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... almost a repeat of today with plenty of sun, temps in the mid-70s and NW winds shifting to the South at 10-15mph.  Sunday... sunny, 80° and SW breezes at 10-15mph.

Rainy Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 96% with a dew point of 71°.  Breezes are South at 2-4mph.  We're covered with clouds and other than that high humidity, we're dry.  We're to expect rain today though.  There's a 100% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms today as temps stay around the mid-70s with N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  There's also a couple warnings posted... Small Craft Advisory, Dangerous Rip Currents and Localized Flooding Possible today.  Be mindful of those low-lying areas on the island that are prone to flooding.   Tonight... cloud cover clearing late with cooler temps down to the low-60s and NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... Ms Sun returns with a high of 76° and NW winds at 10-20mph.  The weekend's still looking A-OK with plenty of sunshine and temps in the low-mid 70s for both days.  Just an fyi... there's a Tropical Storm "Mindy" that landed on the Florida panhandle and is heading up through northern Florida, south Georgia and southern South Carolina as I type but will be tracking into the Atlantic ocean later today and thankfully we'll only feel her effects by way of dangerous rip currents.  We won't see any of the heavy rain or winds. There's also Hurricane Larry out in the Atlantic with its sights on Bermuda.  It's not supposed to hit our Coast but will skirt the continent causing you guessed it... very dangerous surf (big swells for the Surfers) and rip currents.  By the way, we're officially in the Peak Of Hurricane Season!  Uh-oh, and the clouds just opened up and rain just started falling.  Mic drop.

High Risk Rip Currents and Small Craft Advisory Posted

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  Dawn-is-a-coming!  Sunrise is in about a half an hour away.  We're under clear, somewhat starlit skies but they're beginning to fade as daylight's appearing on the horizon.  Humidity's at 88% with a dew point of 68°. Breezes are currently out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  It's going to be a mix of clouds and sun today as gusty winds develop later this morning into the afternoon.  A stray shower and/or thunderstorm is possible later this afternoon (20% chance).  Temps will tap 80° as the Southern breezes blow at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... cloudy with scattered thunderstorms developing (80% chance) with gusty winds (S-SW at 20-30mph).  Tomorrow... looking like a washout as there's a chance (90%) of steady rain throughout the day, temps in the mid-70s and W-NW winds at 10-15mph. Leaving on a high note... the weekend's looking 5-Star with plenty of sunshine and not too hot temps!

One Of The Jewels

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 86% with a dew point of 62°.  We're under clear, starlit skies with very light breezes out of the N-NW at 2-4mph.  Looks like a "10" today with sunny skies, temps tapping 80° and NW winds shifting to the South all at 10-15mph!  Any wind direction with "West" in it could bring the green head flies so this morning could be questionable but the South winds are supposed to reign throughout most of the day.  I'd pack the insect repellent anyway if heading to the beach just in case.  I'm thinking today could be one of those September "Jewels".  So, get out there and enjoy.  Tonight... clear, temps in the low-70s with S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... intervals of clouds and sunshine, much breezier with South winds at 15-25mph.

Labor Day (With A New Moon)

Mornin'!  Happy Labor Day!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and wet outside. Humidity's 90% with a dew point of 70°.  It was still raining lightly about a half an hour ago after raining throughout the entire night.  Right now, no rain is falling but it's feeling rather moist outside.  I relented and put the air conditioner back on before turning in as it was quite uncomfortable with all the humidity in the house.  We're good to go at the moment. Once this morning sky clears, Ms Sun will make her grand entrance by this afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-80s with W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clear, temps back down into the upper 60s and W-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, low-80s and NW winds at 10-15mph.  Any winds with "west" in their direction almost guarantees those biting "greenhead" flies at the beach so pack your insect repellent if going today, tomorrow or Wednesday.  You might want to grab a bungee cord for your beach bag if taking an umbrella on Wednesday as it looks like it may blustery.  Off to put the flag up!

Cloudy, Breezy Sunday

This Morning's Webcam - North Wildwood

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got partly cloudy conditions making for one of the spectacular sunrises this Labor Day Sunday!  It's breezy and humid.  Winds are out of the W-SW at 12-17mph with humidity at 86% and dew point of 66°.  It's an amazing morning with a lot to take in... the gorgeous sky, the luscious breeze (wafting into every window of my house), the happy seagulls squawking, the briny aroma of the marsh/wetlands all happening at the same time!  Enjoy as it'll be a partly cloudy day to start then becoming a cloudy day by the afternoon.  Temps will be in the upper 70s with S-SW winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tonight... cloudy with occasional rain showers into the overnight.  Temps down to 70° with those W-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain is 50%.  Tomorrow... starting out wet (50% chance), becoming partly sunny, high of 81° and W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tuesday looks picture perfect (except for the wind direction... pack insect repellent if heading to the beach).  Reminder... New Moon is tomorrow and tides will be higher than usual.

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood.  Happy Labor Day Weekend!  Everyone's here!  We've got a packed street as parking on the streets of Wildwood is at a premium as we're all in it together.  It's cloudy and cool again this morning with humidity at 83% and 58° dew point.  Breezes are light out of the N-NW at 4-6mph.  We're going to have another beauty with a mix of sun and clouds today.  Expect partly sunny skies with temps near 75° and W-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... mostly clear (some clouds in the mix) with a low of 67° and winds out of the SW at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... more of the same with partly cloudy skies to start becoming mostly cloudy by the afternoon.  Temps will be in the upper 70s (maybe even tapping 80°) with breezy conditions 15-25mph out of the S-SW.  Monday... typical Labor Day weather as we wake to rain becoming partly cloudy by mid-day.  I feel the need to pass on that yesterday's beach day could have been a "10" but due to those NW breezes, the very hungry, biting, green head flies were sharing the beach with everyone making it a "7".  Bring the insect repellent if heading to the beach today.  Oh... it's the "new moon" on Monday so the high Tides will be higher than normal.

The Jewel Is Sparkling!

Mornin'!  It's 62° in Wildwood NJ.  September is sparkling this morning as the Jewel is here!  It's sunny with island breezes (North at 10-12mph) and low humidity (77%).  It feels amazingly cool and refreshing. And, that's both inside and outside my house. All windows are wide open.  This morning's weather has Autumn written all over it.  Yet, I'm still reflecting on how close we came to Ida's wrath and how lucky we are to have not had one destructive incident from it.  So much to be grateful for as our local news coverage continues to show the ruination of neighborhoods just 60 miles away.  It'll be sunny today with a few afternoon clouds filtering in.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 70s with N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... generally clear with some cloud cover, low around 61° and Northerly breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy, temps in the upper 70s and W-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Sunday... partly to mostly cloudy with temps teetering around 80° and S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Monday... waking to rain with a mostly to partly cloudy, warm day on tap (low-80s).

And, it's the "LAST" Friday for my Friday Beach Etiquette Tips ...

~Things I pack for the beach... bottled water, a spray bottle of water for you never know what, a hat, footwear (it's amazing how many folk don't wear something on their feet when trekking the extremely hot, burning sand and even worse forget to put footwear on their children), towel, sunblock, insect repellent (for the West Wind Biting Flies), first aid kit (I include a tiny bottle of vinegar for jelly fish stings), some shade (umbrella or sand chair with lid/canopy), something to read, sanitizing wipes, a small trash bag to collect any trash you may accumulate, and I always bring my crocheting as I love to crochet on the beach.  Some of my best baby blankets are "salty".
~When going to the beach and deciding where to set camp, kindly give those around you a little extra space as courtesy is key.  Careful not to plop down only inches from someone else's camp.  This one's amazing to me as I see "close proximity plopping" time and time again.  Most beaches (with the exception of North Wildwood) are huge yet folks set up camp only inches from those already there enjoying their quiet beach day.  The fact is, their encampment could have been literally 30 feet away allowing plenty of room between others blankets, chairs and umbrellas, yet it's only inches away!  It happens more often than not.  I have yet to figure it out.  Human connection needed perhaps?  Whatever, it's a very strange phenomenon.
~Setting up your umbrella... be aware of wind direction and wind speed.  If it's windy, take those extra steps to secure your umbrella (sand screws or grabbers) or bungee cord (you can secure your umbrella to your beach cart or cooler etc).  It's common to see how unsecured umbrellas can be as the wind launches them directly toward unknowing folks about to be impaled.  And, remember to open your umbrella into the wind otherwise, those gusts will be blowing your umbrella inside out making it almost impossible to control.
~Know the time of your tides.  Always check with the lifeguard if unsure.  If the tide is at its highest, you can sit as close to the surf as you want as the tide will be taking the entire day to slip into low tide and the beach grows bigger and bigger.  It takes 6 hours for the tide to go from High to Low.
~Teach children beach etiquette.  Throwing sand is a no-no.  Teach them not to run or chase one another around someone laying on their blanket as the kicked up or thrown sand from the winds scatter over the person lying there peacefully.  I've had families whose little toddlers take off running from their campsite right to mine and onto my blanket before any adult could grab them.  I guess it's cute.  My advice to parents of young toddlers (1-2 year olds)... bring a "pack-n-play" for them as I can assure you that your day will be much more enjoyable with those babes confined.
~Remember when shaking out towels or blankets, be conscious of the wind direction and shake away from those in close proximity of your shaken sands.
~There is "no smoking" on the beach.  That includes pipes, vapes, cigars and marijuana.  Wildwood Crest has a designated smoking area for cigarette smoking.  There's "no smoking" of any kind on the boardwalk too.  As New Jersey has recently legalized Marijuana, you cannot smoke it in these small coastal towns as they've all outlawed it including Wildwood.  It's allowed on private property.
~Dogs are allowed on Wildwood and Wildwood Crest beaches from Oct-May.  Dogs are not allowed on the boardwalk at any time.  There are a couple of great beach dog-parks.  One at 3000 Glenwood Ave. at the beach and one in North Wildwood at 24th and the beach.  NW requires a permit and also posts that dogs are not allowed on the beach when lifeguards are present (9:30-5:30).  Dog's must be on a leash at all times when not in the dog parks.
~Never leave trash on the beach.  Better yet, pick up any you see whether it's yours or not.  There are many, many trash and recycle containers on the beach and sidewalks might as well use them.
~If into music, remember your headphones.  Believe it or not, no one really wants to hear your blasting music drowning out the soothing sounds of the surf.  And, direct that (not too loud) speaker towards you, not to the other folks on the beach.
~Feeding seagulls is a big no-no.  Eat and snack smartly.  Using hands up or out when holding a sandwich to express oneself is a magnet for swooping gulls.  Drop just one potato chip and you'll create seagull havoc.  Eat under your umbrella or chair canopy.  Seagulls are vultures and are endlessly eyeing beach goers eating habits.  They're relentless in trying to find the opportune moment to swoop down and pluck your lunch right out of your hand or mouth (seen it happen many times).  By the way, Seagulls know "chip bags" and if you have an unsupervised blanket or bag with chip bags exposed, they will help themselves to that bag and share their newly acquired beach find with their gull family and friends right there on your beach blanket and surrounding area.
~Playing ball, Frisbee, horseshoes, corn hole, kite-flying, ladder toss, spike ball, paddle ball, volley ball, kan-jam, beach darts, etc., is a no-no where everyone's camped beaching.  The dune or emptier side of the beach is designated for those active beach games.  The beach patrol will probably stop you anyway. But, be mindful of those around you who are not in the game.
~Observe all posted warnings... beach closures, no alcohol or marijuana, rip currents, surfing only etc.  If in doubt, check with the lifeguards.
~And lastly, be courteous.  Courtesy is key.  Be kind and considerate of everyone enjoying this beautiful moment along with you.  Happy Beaching!

The Storm Has Passed

Mornin'!  It's 66° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 81% with a dew point of 60°.  We're dry after overnight rainfall.  Winds are out of the N-NW at 15-22mph.  We've got plenty of ominous cloud cover but it seems they're breaking up all around us as Ms Sun is doing her best to shine through.  Our coast in Cape May County missed another bullet as those Ida remnants hammered what seemed like everyone west and north of us.  This storm system dropped rainfall which didn't begin until late last evening.  The winds were incredibly strong all day as we hunkered down after readying the outdoor things.  We made it through without any damage or flooding.

For today's weather... it's amazingly different this morning.  It definitely feels like a first day of school day with  66° temps which took me right to my air conditioner dial as it's now turned off.  All windows are finally opened letting in the fresh, breezy, sea air.  These leftover clouds will gradually clear out today as it becomes sunny with today's temps getting  into the mid-70s.  Expect a breezy day as the North winds will be around 15-20mph.  Tonight... clear, temps in the upper 50s/low 60s with those North winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, mid-70s and NW winds at 10-15mph.  Saturday... sunny, mid-70s, North winds at 5-10mph.  Sunday... sunny, upper 70s.  And, Monday... sunny, low-80s.

And, So September Begins!

Mornin'!  Happy September!  The Jewel is here!  Well, almost anyway as there's a "gale warning" posted to kick off September.   It's 78° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 97% with a dew point of 77°.  Breezes are out of the South at 5-7mph.  We're gray and surrounded by clouds as the remnants of Ida are looming.  Prepare for a partly sunny / partly cloudy, windy day especially this afternoon as S-SE winds are on tap at 20-30mph+gusting.  Chance of rain is 40% and we may not even see any moisture hitting the island until this evening.  Temps will be in the low-80s.  Tonight... very windy (S-SW shifting to W-NW at 25-35mph+gusting) and wet as there's a 90% chance of rain.  Temps will drop into the upper 60s / low 70s.  We could get some serious rainfall late tonight into the early morning as there's potential for flooding on the island.  Know your tide times and remember that the back of the island (marsh/wetland side) is an hour later on the high-tide times.  Keep your vehicle safe by parking away from low-lying areas.  There's even been mention of isolated tornadoes being a possibility... just saying.  You might want to secure anything that could become a projectile.  Tomorrow... waking to rain, becoming partly to mostly sunny by late morning / early afternoon as temps stay relatively low... mid-70s and staying very windy.  I'll stick by September being "The Jewel" just give her a chance and she'll be showing her spectacular jewel-like weather before long.  Actually, this holiday weekend isn't looking too shabby as Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday (with the exception of Monday morning's rain) are all lined up to be pleasant, not-too-hot, weather days!
