New Year's Eve

Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  Finally... the last of 2020!!!  I'll be tapping my temples with two fingers in just about 15 hours as I salute this heavy hand we've been dealt.  For the last of 2020, we've got cloud cover with breezes out of the SW at 10-15mph.  Clouds are everywhere around but  seem to be breaking up as the sky begins to brighten and display some colors.  It's actually a very pretty morning sky.  As for today's weather... 2020's going out as mostly gray day with 25% chance of rain showers today.  Temps will begin to drop by late morning...  low-mid 50s early then begin falling to the mid-40s along with N-NW breezes at 8-11mph.  Tonight... cloudy with the possibility of a rain shower around 8-9pm (35% chance) with some clearing late into the midnight hour (Wilson Pickett... I had to). It'll be a low of around 35° and N-NE breezes at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... New Year's day begins with partly cloudy skies turning to cloudy skies with 80% chance of rain around mid-day and raining into the overnight, NE breezes and temps in the mid-upper 40s.  For the weekend... Saturday starts out rainy turning to partly sunny while Sunday appears to be a wash-out with 80% chance of rain and blustery winds with temps near 50°.  Well, this is it 2020... you sucked!!!  Don't let the door hit you in the ass!  Happy New Year everyone who's out there reading this!  Many good wishes and most important "good health" (both mental and physical) this New Year of ours!  May we all make it through!  Hang tough and do what is best to make it through but always pausing to think what you've gained from this time-out we're all in.  And, don't forget to live in the moment!

(New Year's Eve) 40% chance of rain showers early with a cloud cover most of the day, a high of 50° and rather blustery (W-NW at 10-20mph).  Friday looks cloudy again with rain showers in the second half of the day. Last Monday of 2020

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a bit of a gray morning with Ms Sun lightening things up just a bit along the horizon.  Breezes are out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  It'll be a mild day (50°) with partly sunny / partly cloudy skies.  Winds will be stiff out of the SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... all those clouds we have today will slowly check out and give way to mainly clear moonlit skies.  Temps will drop into the low-mid 30s with W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, mid-upper 30s and more stiff winds out of the NW at 15-25mph.  At this time, New Years Eve and New Years Day will be washouts with rain on the forecast for both days.  The Full Moon is tomorrow so expect higher than normal tides.

Sunny Last 2020 Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 27° in Wildwood NJ.  Breezes are out of the N-NW at 2-4mph with no windchill to report.  It's crispy outside though... the birdbath is frozen!  But, Ms Sun just rose and is already beginning to warm things up.  It's going to be a lovely winter's day with plentiful sunshine, temps in the mid-upper 30s and winds light and variable.  Tonight... partly cloudy skies, low near 35° and Southerly winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... more sunshine and high near 50° (that's not a typo) with SW winds at 10-20mph.  There is another storm crossing our country beginning in California and heading to the East Coast by end of the year/beginning of next year.  At this time, it appears to be a major rain/wind event for our Coast.  I'll be keeping any eye on it!  Happy Last Sunday of 2020!!!

Happy Kwanzaa!

2019 - Cape May - Congress Hall's Front Yard
Mornin'!  It's 27° in Wildwood NJ.  We have a windchill of 15° due to the 20mph West winds.  Yesterday this time it was Christmas morning and a balmy 52° and what a difference a day makes!  We're under cloudy skies setting the scene for an amazing winter sunrise.  There are too many colors in the sky at the moment to even begin describing today's magnificent sunrise.  Ms Sun will continue to confront the clouds throughout the day as it'll be a partly cloudy / partly sunny Kwanzaa.  Temps will be in the mid-30s with West winds at 15-25mph giving us a windchill of 24°.    Tonight... clear, 30° with W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... a little warmer with sunshine and temps in the low-40s and West winds at 5-10mph.

Merry Christmas!

Newlywed Christmas - 1971
Mornin'!  Merry Christmas! It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining with stiff winds out of the S-SW at 20-25+gusting making it feel like 45°.  It's a perfectly miserable morning.  Even, the pooch didn't want to be bothered with heading outside.  My steaming cup of coffee's delicious though!  Expect periods of rain (mostly this morning) and winds out of the W-SW at 20-30mph +gusting at 40mph.  We had the rain and winds all night long and luckily... no flooding or wind damage. By mid-day, the rain clouds should begin to blow on out of here as it looks like a Cloudy Christmas.  Tonight... beginning to feel like a Wintry Christmas with partly cloudy skies and a low of 26° and winds out of the West at 15-25mph +gusting making it feel like 16°.  Tomorrow... sunny, high of 34° and West winds at 15-25mph.  Sunday... sunny, high of 41° and much lighter winds.  To all out there that take time to read my weather blog... I wish you essential, socially-distanced, unprecedented, happy and healthy holidays! Merry Christmas from my house to yours!

Christmas Eve

Mornin'!  Happy Christmas Eve!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and blustery and relatively mild.  Winds are out of the S-SE at 22-26mph.  There's a mid-west blizzard heading in our direction while I blog.  Along our Coast... no blizzard but it'll be a big stormy, rain event.  Today starts out to be a gray, blustery and a wild Christmas Eve (in the weather department) with 30% chance of showers and a high of 57°!  Winds will pick up even more out of the S-SE at 25-35mph +gusting by late this afternoon.  Tonight... the rains and big winds come. There's a 100% chance of rain (1-2" expected) with winds out of the South at 25-40mph +gusting (some as high as 60mph) as Santa will have quite a tail wind.  Wildwood will no doubt have tidal flooding and beach erosion with this Christmas winter storm.  There's a Full Moon next Tuesday that could have a bit of an impact on the tides and flooding. Be aware of those low-lying areas that often flood.  Christmas day looks gray and wet and windy with 70% chance of rain, high of 54° with temps falling into the 30s and W-SW winds sustained at 20-30mph +gusting. The weekend continues to look sunny and cold with these winds to finally sdown.

Christmas Eve Eve

Wildwood Crest - Sunset Lake
Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood NJ.  It's quiet and calm and crisp this morning. We're under clear, cloudless skies with Ms Sun due up in a few minutes.  Breezes are light and barely there (NW 2-3mph).  It'll be a lovely day with a mix of sun and clouds and a high of 46°.  S-SE breezes will be 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy early, with increasing clouds overnight.  Low of 43° and S-SE winds at 15-25mph are on tap too.  Tomorrow... gusty with a  mostly cloudy day and temps in the mid-upper 50s and S-SE winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  Rain along with those winds will be here just in time for Santa's flight over the island.  Christmas looks a rainy morning turning to mostly cloudy with temps in the mid-40s.  At this time, the weekend's looking sunny and crisp.

Cloudy Start - Clear Finish

The Mall at Cape May NJ - 2019
Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with West winds at 15-20mph.  If it weren't for the breeze, it would feel pretty mild out there now that we're in Winter.  The clouds are insulating the sounds of the island and you can hear the ocean crashing the shore 6+blocks away.  And, just an fyi... that "Christmas Star" that was making headlines actually was shining bright here along the coast last night.  I was astounded that yesterday's cloud cover just moved on out for us just in time to see that conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter in the Southwest sky. It was pretty neat.
As for today's weather, expect this morning's cloud cover to move on out by late morning/early afternoon as these stiff winds clear the sky of clouds and make way for blue skies.  It'll be blustery today with the winds out of the W-NW at 20-30mph and temps in the upper 40s feeling more like the upper 30s with that windchill.  Tonight... clear, low of 34° and still blustery with NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny, high of 44° and calmer S-SE winds at 5-10mph.

It's The Winter Solstice

Mornin'!  Winter's arrived!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It's relatively mild as we're currently covered in Fog with N-NW breezes at 4-6mph.  Everything's dripping wet outside.  When standing out in the quiet morning, all that surrounds you is the dripping sounds.  Not even a seagull squawking is heard this morning.  Today's the shortest day of the year due to the way the Earth is leaning and tilting away from the Sun.  After today, the Earth begins to lean the opposite way creating longer days until we reach the first day of Summer (the longest day of the year).  If you were above the Arctic Circle, you would have no daylight at all today. Expect a mostly cloudy Monday with areas of patchy fog in the early part of the day.  We could see some peeks of sun this afternoon with a high of 42° and W-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy with 70% chance of rain showers into the overnight.  Temps will be in the low-40s and SW winds will be kicking up a bit at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... mid-upper 40s, partly cloudy with gusty winds.  Just after the sun sets today, Jupiter and Saturn will appear almost touching creating such a bright light that it will shine as "The Christmas Star" or "The Great Conjunction".  This encounter hasn't happened since 1623!  I'm so disappointed to report that here along the eastern coast, the clouds will probably prevent us from viewing this spectacular event. I'm not thrilled to be reporting that our skies along with all the skies surrounding us... Philadelphia (and suburbs), New York, Pocono Mts., Delaware, Maryland and Virginia will very possibly be clouded over tonight. But, if the skies are clear (even partially clear), we could see this event that hasn't happened in 800 years. Happy Winter!

Adios Autumn

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  It's the last day of Autumn 2020.  Tomorrow is the Solstice which is the first day of Winter and the shortest day of the year.  Then beginning Tuesday, daylight begins to grow a little longer each day.  Autumn's leaving with a miserable look on her face.  Expect a cloudy/gray day with occasional showers (60% chance).  Temps will be in the low-mid 40s with S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... cloudy with 60% chance of rain showers, temps in mid-30s and N-NE breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy with seasonable temps (low-40s) and light winds.  Look after yourself Autumn.  See you on the other side!

Party Sunny Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 25° in Wildwood NJ.  Feels like 22° with the light breeze out of the North at 2-4mph.  Lots of frost covering the island this morning.  Ms Sun's up and doing all she can to break through a light layer of milky clouds along the horizon.  I think these thin clouds (called "Cirrostratus aka Cirrus clouds" which look delicate and feathery and are made from ice crystals and wind currents twisting and spreading the clouds into strands almost look like a veil) will probably stick around most of today.  It'll be partly to mostly sunny with a high near 40° with West winds at 3-5mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, low around 29° and a calm SW wind at 3-5mph.  Tomorrow... waking to rain or even a wintry mix depending on the temperature in the morning.  Then, there's a 40% chance of rain with temps in the mid-40s on Sunday's forecast.  It's looking like that "Great Solstice Conjunction" (Jupiter and Saturn almost touching) on Sunday evening (just after sunset) could possibly not be visible here due to partial cloud covered skies.  I'm staying hopeful though.  Today's looking like a terrific day to get out and get some fresh salt air!  Not much of autumn left to enjoy!

Cold Blue Sky Friday

Mornin'!  It's 27° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear skies which is welcoming daybreak in about a half an hour.  Breezes are fairly light out of the N-NW at 10-12mph giving us a windchill of 19°.  Feels like Winter's arrived but it won't officially be walking through the door until Solstice which is Monday (and the shortest day of the year).  We've got a vibrant blue sky kind of day ahead with plentiful sunshine, not much in clouds, high of 38° and N-NW breezes at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clear to partly cloudy, low of 27° and N-NW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... sunny start with some clouds filtering in with a high of 38°.  Sunday... a gray day with the slight possibility of showers later in the afternoon.  The Solstice (Monday) looks gray with the chance of showers early in the day and partly cloudy by night evening.  We just might be able to see that phenomenon of Jupiter and Saturn appearing as if they're one giant planet in our sunset/western sky.  It's called  the "Christmas Star" or the "Great Solstice Conjunction" which hasn't happened since the Middle ages in 1226!

After The Storm - Just Rain!!!

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Wildwood NJ.  Windchill is 16° as the winds out of the N-NW are 15-20mph.  The winds are incredibly much better than yesterday and last night for sure. We had our share of sloughing in the last 18 hours or so thanks to the winter storm's sandblasting, howling winds.  No damage thankfully.  Philly (my home town) received around a ½ foot of the white stuff.  Wildwood's partly cloudy and dry except for some black ice around my yard and property... the results of some of those icy rains last night as well as the back bay tidal flooding seeping (and staying) around my house. Everything's a bit icy this morning... porch steps, sidewalk, driveway, path to the backyard etc. My pooch had a couple slips this morning when stepping outside.  It'll be a partly cloudy/partly sunny,  blustery day with a high of 37° and N-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy becoming partly cloudy after midnight.  Low of 29° and North winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny, high of 38° and winds still out of the N-NW at 10-15mph.  The weekend's looking like a mix of clouds and sun with Sunday being the warmer day (high of 48°).

High Impact Nor'easter Heading This Way

2010 - Christmas Week
Mornin'!  It's 34° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloudy skies at the moment with breezes out of the E-NE at 20-25mph.  Ms Sun's due up in a half hour but we won't be seeing or feeling her warmth today. A high impact Winter Storm is on its way as I type.  Rain and winds will be checking in early this afternoon.  Temps will get into the mid-upper 40s with E-NE winds at 25-35mph occasionally gusting to over 50mph.  Chance of rain is 100%.  No white stuff along the coast but tidal flooding is coming.  Tonight... winds and rainfall early... then remaining cloudy with showers overnight.  Low around 35°. Those Nor'easter winds (ENE) will be around until tomorrow afternoon.  West of us will be receiving snowfall especially the I95 corridor from  New England to New York City as well as Philadelphia and west of Philadelphia.  The Pocono Mountains could see up to 2 feet of snow.  Not here as the Coast will experience a major rain and wind event as well as coastal flooding and intense beach erosion.  This Storm will be checking out sometime early tomorrow (before daybreak) and leave in its wake a partly sunny, much less windy day with a high of 40°.  For the weekend, partly to mostly cloudy with a high of 40° with light winds.  Just a reminder that the streets in Wildwood will more than likely be flooding so be aware of traversing around as well as going on and off the island.  The foot of the George Redding bridge has been known to flood and temporarily close due to tidal flooding.  Be aware of tide times.  Know the low-lying areas along with safer high ground on the island as you may have to move your vehicle to higher ground.  Remember that high tides are an hour later on the back side of the island.   Be safe and smart and don't drive through flood waters.

Partly Sunny Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 34° in Wildwood NJ.  There's a little frost on the pine needles this morning!  Ms Sun just rose over the horizon.  Clear skies abound with breezes out of the N-NW at 10-15mph.  Afternoon clouds are going to filter in as temps rise into the low 40s.  Winds will be out of the N-NW most of the day at 10-15mph and will be switching from the NE later this evening into tonight.  Speaking of tonight... partly cloudy giving way to all cloud cover.  Temps will be in the low 30s with NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... waking to rain showers becoming steady and at times heavy by the afternoon.  High of 48° with E-NE (Nor'easter) winds at 25-35mph +gusting possibly over 50mph.  Thursday... the intense winds continue as the rain blows out of here by early morning.  This Nor'easter that will be producing Philly's first snow storm of the season (forecasters are blowing it up to be close to 12") Wednesday into Thursday.  We will be experiencing rain and coastal flooding plus big-time beach erosion.  Hunker down but not before knowing the high tides and taking care not to park or drive near low-lying, flood-prone areas.  Know your safe areas!

Wet Monday

Mom and her tinsel - mid 50s
Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly with winds out of the NE at 10-15mph.  It's the perfect weather to stay in bed.  It's the worst weather for a Monday.  Personally, I never was a fan of Mondays (not sure why) but adding a gray, raw, cold, wet, breezy morning to the Monday mix was almost excruciating for me when in the workforce.  This Monday is one of the best as I have nowhere to be and nothing to do except maybe make some homemade soup and bake some Christmas cookies.  Perfect weather for that.  Expect periods of rain (100% chance) with it being heavy at times.  Winds will ramp up to 10-20mph with a high of 44° making it feel like 34°.  By dinner time, the rain should stop as it'll be just cloudy.  Today's stiff winds... N-NW at 10-20mph will give us that nice windchill... but by tonight and the overnight... mid-upper 20s.  Tomorrow... Ms Sun is back!  It'll be much colder than it's been though with a high of 40° (if we're lucky).  We were spoiled yesterday and it got up to a 63° sunny day!  No meteor shower last night due to the thick cloud cover. It is the New Moon today and the possibility of island flooding in low-lying areas is very possible as today's rains could get dicey.  Also, the back bay / marsh side of the island gets the high tide an hour after the ocean's high tide.  I almost forgot to mention Wednesday when a big Nor'easter is headed in this direction.  Unlike the Philly and Philly suburb areas, we're going to have a rain event. Lots of major winds and rainfall.  No snow but I'm sure more flooding for the island.

Mostly to Partly Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  It was just raining lightly as we're under cloud cover at the moment.  Breezes are light out of the SW at 9-11mph.   There's a slight chance of rainfall before 8am today.  Expect a mostly sunny day though with temps tapping 60° and SW breezes at 5-10mph.  The winds will shift from the West and ramp up a bit at 10-20mph a little later this afternoon.  Tonight... partly cloudy then becoming cloudy after midnight.  Temps will drop into the low-mid 40s with winds barely there (light and variable).  Don't forget that a Geminid meteor shower is scheduled to peak tonight (9pm-2am).  Hopefully any cloud cover will shift away and allow the show to go on. Tomorrow is the New Moon as we'll be waking to rain with 100% chance of rain and potential heavy rainfall.  It'll be blustery too.  Be mindful of any tidal flooding due to the moon and heavy rains.  Careful where you drive and park the vehicle.  You might want to get the "wellies" out too.  By dinner time, the rains should be starting to check out. And, the mid-week storm directing its sights on us, is still coming (Wednesday) as we'll see heavy rain and major winds (up to 50mph gusts) so strap in.  So far, no one's committing to forecasting the white stuff along our Coast.  It's probably all that salt of ours not to mention the ocean temp insulating us.

2012-Christmas in July-North Wildwood

Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  That's according to my back porch thermometer and she's as accurate as you can get.  It's weird outside as the mild temps are a surprise when stepping out into the darkness.  The sky is covered in thick white clouds which seem to stand out making the sky look bright white.  Winds are light out of the South at 4-7mph.  It's the start to a possibly wet day (30% chance) as showers are due in this morning.  Overcast skies are here for the day as well as areas of patchy fog.  We might see some clearing and peeks of sun around dinner time. Temps will be near 60° (upper 50s) with winds ramping up at 10-20mph out of the S-SW.  Tonight... 40% chance of rain showers including the overnight into Sunday.  Temps will drop back to the low-50s with S-SW winds still at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... stepping out of the gate with the possibility of morning showers, intervals of cloud cover with peeks of sunshine by late morning / early afternoon.  High of 58° with West winds at 10-15mph.  Monday... a wet day (at least until dinner time) along with a "New moon" (and higher than normal tides).  Just a reminder about the Geminid meteor shower this weekend especially Sunday evening into early morning Monday but unfortunately we may be only seeing cloud cover.  There's supposed to be a break in those clouds at times so keep your eye on the sky as the meteors could be showering down at 75 per hour.  Also, there are murmurs of a potential "winter storm" headed this way for this upcoming mid-week.  On Wednesday, expect rain and winds with the rain turning into a wintry mix late in the day as temps drop into the 30s.  And, on Thursday... we could be waking to snow showers and perhaps a wet dusting of the white stuff.  I really didn't want to say the "S" word yet but there it is.

Another Beauty Ahead

Mornin'!  This week marks 15 years since the Sam's Pizza - Shore Plaza Fire (actually was on 12/9/05).  It's not near as cold as it was the day of that fire.  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a crisp, clear morning with plenty of stars in the pre-dawn , slightly brigtening sky.  Breezes are light out of the S-SW at 4-6mph.  It's going to be another beautiful autumn day down the Shore.  Expect plenty of sunshine this Friday with temps in the mid-upper 50s and S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... some clouds roll on in followed by full on cloud cover.  Temps will be just tapping 50° with S-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... looking like periods of rain are on the weather menu with a high of 56°.  Sunday is now looking partly to mostly cloudy without those previously forecasted rain showers.  The New Moon is Monday the 14th and along with it comes the recent Geminid meteor shower which peaks the nights of Sunday and Monday.  The very early morning of the 14th will be the "shower's" maximum time with the most meteors falling per hour (75).  The show typically begins as early as 9pm and peaks around 2am.  If the skies are clear along with that New Moon and extra-dark skies... the meteors will truly pop.  It's also 10 days until the Winter Solstice and "The Great Solstice Conjunction" on 12/21 which is the viewing of Jupiter and Saturn converging so close that it'll look like one giant star (The Christmas Star). First time in 800 years for that one!

Miserable Wet First Half - Blustery Dry Second Half

Otten's Harbor Last Year After A Snowy Frosting
Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 40° with the windchill.  Winds are out of the North at 15-25mph.  It's gray and ominous and raining heavily of course.  Like I said before... "Stay in bed" this morning.  I've got the coffee brewed and the scones baked believe it or not.  And, the "beef barley" soup was made yesterday!  It was delicious if I do say so myself.
So, here's the weather scoop... a Nor'easter... a significant winter (although the winter solstice is 16 days away) storm has begun slamming our coast.  At least 2 inches of rainfall is expected as this storm began very late last evening and will continue to do so until mid-day today.  My yard is partially under a ½" of water at the moment. Thankfully, we're not in the line of fire like New England as they're going to have a major snow event... like 2 feet in spots due to the whiteout, wind-driven conditions.  I'm just not ready for shoveling 2' of snow drifts.
As for Wildwood, expect more heavy rainfall off and on until at least late morning / early afternoon today with NW winds at 25-30mph +gusting.  There's a possibility of peeks of sun later this afternoon; perhaps in time for sunset.  Today's temps will be where they are now... upper 40s (possibly tapping 50°). Tonight... 41°, mostly clear, NW winds at 15-25mph  Tomorrow... sunny, high of 42° and NW winds at 15-25mph.  Monday... pretty much a repeat of Sunday with less windy conditions.

Gray Friday

Mornin'!  It's 50° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover as Ms Sun rises.  She is peeking through the cloud cover settled on the horizon and is painting that sky with red and orange shades.  It's quite lovely although chilly with the S-SW breezes at 13-16mph.  It'll be generally cloudy today with a slight chance of a rain shower or two.  Temps will be in upper 50s with SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... that cloud cover turns to rain clouds as there's 100% chance of rain likely.  Temps will be in the low-mid 40s with SW winds shifting to the N-NE at 15-25mph.  We could see heavy rainfall locally.  Tomorrow... stay in bed!  It'll be windy with rain early.  By the afternoon, it'll be sun mixed with clouds and a high of 50° and winds gusting over 40mph.  Sunday's looking sunny but on the cold side with a high of 43°.

Brisk, Sunny Autumn Day

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under a clear sky with very light breezes out of the W-NW at 4-6mph.  Ms Sun's due up in about 20 minutes.  It'll be a bright sunny day with temps in the low-mid 50s and breezes out of the SW at 8-11mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, upper 40s, SW breezes at 9-12mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy, mid-upper 50s and breezy with winds out of the SW at 10-15mph and rains coming late in the evening.  The weekend's looking like Saturday will be wet, raw and cold with very stiff winds and Sunday looks partly cloudy, cold and windy.  I'm thinking cookie baking time?  Or, maybe a nice pot of homemade soup?  I'm going with the soup making... vegetable-beef barley since I've got all I need to put that one together.  I'm also going with... getting outside today and taking in some of this lovely Shore weather!

Mornin'!  Happy Birthday to my son.  Today's blog entry is for you!  It's 40° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining through some cloud cover making for a spectacular sky.  It's breezy with Westerly winds at 15-22mph.  It feels like 33° with the windchill.  It'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy today with temps in the mid-40s and W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  There's a possibility of a rain shower in the morning (40% chance) but the rain clouds will blow on out of here by mid-day.  Tonight... clear skies, low of 38° and W-NW winds staying checked in at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... a sunny, warmer day (mid-50s).  The weekend's looking wet on Saturday and cloudy on Sunday... both are going to be cold.

Welcome December!

Wildwood Crest - Sunset Lake
Mornin'!  Happy December!  It's 50° in Wildwood NJ.  The little breeze outside currently at 6-8mph out of the W-SW will be ramping up today.  The big full moon is almost shining through the hazy, somewhat fast moving cloud cover.  The sky's got that "howling wolf" feel to it.  Sunrise is just over an hour away as the pre-dawn darkness is still upon us.  It'll be a mostly cloudy day though with some peeks of Ms Sun.  The temps aren't going to change much as they'll be in the low-50s.  Blustery winds out of the W-SW at 20-30mph +gusting are due in making it feel colder (upper 30s)  than it is today. Tonight... partly cloudy with a low of 37° and winds out of the West at 15-25mph (brrrrr).  Tomorrow... mostly sunny with a high of 47° and still windy. Winter's coming... The Solstice is now just 20 days away although today is considered the meteorological first day of winter. I'm sticking with December 21st.
