Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

Mornin'!  It's 22° with an 11° windchill.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly through clear skies, and the winds are out of the NW at 15-20mph.  We're in a major winter tundra this crispy, cold morning.  Thanks to the rain and wintry mix we received late yesterday into last night any leftover snow layering the island is almost gone and we now have a layer of crunchy ice encasing us.  Hopefully even with the frigid temps, Ms Sun will somehow begin a bit of a meltdown today.  We're going to have mostly sunny skies, temps in the upper 20s and W-NW winds at 15-25mph today.  Tonight... mostly clear, followed by cloudy skies overnight, temps in the mid-teens and NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy, with temps in the low-20s and NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow night... cloudy, upper teens, NW winds at 10-15mph.  Wednesday... sunny, temps in the upper 20s and NW winds.  Happy Martin Luther King Day.  I'm hibernating today with my crocheting, a good book and of course my homemade soup (this weekend's was Cream of Potato).  Not much else is happening today.

Storm Demi's Traveling Toward Us

This Morning's Webcam Shot - Eagles Green Ferris Wheel
Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's about to cross the ocean's horizon but I have my doubts of whether she'll break through all those clouds this morning.  Winds are barely there out of the NE at 2-3mph.  It's the calm before the storm.  We've got a Nor'easter (named Demi) heading our way but the current radar maps and forecasts have Wildwood getting a mostly rain event albeit very, very windy later.  Expect a cloudy morning with periods of rain by this afternoon (100% chance), temps in the upper 30s / low 40s with winds beginning to ramp up out of the NE at 10-20mph. Tonight... rain with a wintry mix likely later this evening with snow checking in around 8pm.  Temps will drop into the low-20s with NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting. Snow accumulation won't be measurable (less than an inch).  Monday... partly sunny and bitter cold with temps in the low-mid 20s with windchills in the single digits due to those NW winds  still checked in at 20-30mph +gusting.  Monday night... clear, very cold with temps in the teens, and NW winds at 20-25mph making it feel like -2°.  As most of you know, I'm a Philly girl (born and raised) and this is one of those times when Philly and its suburbs are about to have an entirely different weather event than down the Shore.  We're seeing rain with a wintry mix tonight but they're going to have a snow event with this Storm Demi heading right for that area with snow accumulation anywhere from 3-8 inches.  And, that includes that Eagles game in Philly today.  Bundle up big time! Go Birds!

Polar Plunge Day

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy as Ms Sun's probably not going on display at all today.  Winds are out of the S-SE at 10-15mph making it feel like the low-30s.  It'll be cloudy today with off and on rain showers by this afternoon.  Originally, it looked like the rain would begin around 1pm or so.  Now, it's looking more like 4pm.   Temps are going up into the mid-upper 40s with South winds at 10-15mph.  Seems like a decent Polar Plunge Day if you ask me.  If you want to go... it's on the beach at the Convention Center 4501 Boardwalk.  You can see it from afar on the Webcam (https://wildwoodinsider.com/). And, if you want to donate to the Plunge and their cause (Special Olympics... https://www.plungewildwood.org/ ).
Chance of showers later today... 40%.  Tonight... cloudy, temps in the low-30s with West winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... this so called Nor'easter that's heading over the mid-Atlantic region has the potential for snow and ice, freezing temps along with snowfall that could be some decent accumulations.  However, our region seems to have been a part of that slight shift in the storm track with more of a rain event than what Northwest of the I-95 corridor will get (5-9 inches). We're definitely going to get those freezing cold temps and a possible coating to an inch of snow.  It won't be until Sunday night into Monday. Tomorrow will have 90% chance of rain with a wintry mix and strong winds coming in by the evening.  Tomorrow night's temps will be in the low-20s with NW winds at 20-30mph.  Monday... windy with partial cloud cover, temps in the mid-20s and dropping along with W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Monday night... clear, temps around 13° with NW winds at 15-25mph.

Bright, Sunny Day

Today's Webcam Shot - North WW
Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 22° with the W-NW breezes at 10-15mph.  We had a dusting of snow last night and everything's coated in a crust of white.   Ms Sun's up and shining down on the island without one cloud to speak of this morning.  It'll be a bright, sunny day with temps near 40° and West winds at 10-15mph.  Without a doubt we'll have some meltdown today.  Tonight... a few passing clouds, temps in the low-30s and South winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... more meltdown with a cloudy start, rain showers later in the morning with overcast skies in the afternoon, temps in the mid-40s and Southerly breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow night... partly cloudy, temps in the upper 30s and W-SW breezes at 5-10mph.  Sunday...  rain kicking off the day and by the afternoon a wintry mix of rain and snow, temps will be in the upper 30s with N-NE winds at 15-25mph.  Sunday night... snow showers, temps in the low-20s and NW winds at 15-25mph. Snow accumulation... about an inch.  Monday... sunny, high of 27° and W-NW winds at 15-25mph.  Monday night... partly cloudy, temps in the teens (12-15°), and NW winds at 10-20mph making it feel like the single digits.

Mornin'!  It's 27° in Wildwood NJ.  Windchill... 16° due to the NW 20-25mph winds.  And, don't forget about those wind gusts of up to 35-40mph.  It's sunny!  Ms Sun's checked in again today.  We had significant melting yesterday thanks to her warmish rays and hopefully again today.  Expect a bit of a partly sunny day.  We're supposed to have a mix of sun and clouds becoming mostly cloudy this afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-30s with W-NW winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  Tonight... partly cloudy and still windy.  Temps will be in the low-20s with NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Windchill will be around 12°.  Tomorrow... sunny and windy, temps in the low-mid 30s with NW winds at 25-35mph +gusting occasionally at 50mph.  It'll be another windchill day for sure.  Tomorrow night... clear, temps in the mid-20s with gusty winds diminishing after midnight.  As for this weekend's storm, it looks like we'll get an inch or so of snow mostly during the morning Saturday with clearing by the afternoon.  Temps will be in the upper 30s with W-NW winds at 15-25mph.  It'll be clear and cold Saturday  night.  Sunday... sunny, temps in the upper 30s with W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Sunday night... clear skies, temps in the upper 20s and much calmer winds out of the West at 5-10mph.

Sunny With Wind-driven Sparkling Snow

Mornin'!  It's 22° in Wildwood NJ.  With those NW winds at 25-35mph +gusting of up to 50mph, it feels like 5°.  We were blasted with Blair.  We shoveled around 5" yesterday around 3pm and this morning it looks like we got another 4" during the evening and overnight.  And, it looks like more shoveling (with sunglasses) is on the "things to do list" sometime today.  The Harbor looks frozen (at least on the top).  It hasn't froze in a couple of years.
Expect a sunny day with temps in the low-30s and NW winds roaring at 25-35mph +gusting.  Lots of sparkling snow in the wind-driven frosty air today.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the low-20s and NW winds continuing at 20-25mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... still windy with mostly sunny skies, temps in the low-30s and NW winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Wednesday night... partly cloudy, temps in the low-20s and NW winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Thursday... sunny, temps in the mid-30s and NW winds at 20-25mph +gusting.  So, another storm is heading our way and should arrive by Friday night snowing all night into Saturday and adding possible 4 more inches to what's blanketing Wildwood now.  Yo January... so far you suck big time.

Snow Day

Current Conditions - WW's webcams

Mornin'!  It's 27° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 27° due to the lack of winds... none to note.  There's no sound outside as it's snowing at a decent clip and providing that insulating quietness.  I looked out the window at 3am and everything was white then.  I'd guess there's currently a couple inches of snow on the ground.  It's supposed to snow all day and into the evening.  Expect 100% chance of snow today with 5-8" to layer the island.  Temps will be in the low-30s with NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... still snowing (70% chance) with 1-2" of snow expected, temps in the low 20s and N-NW winds ramping up big time at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... sunny and very windy.  Temps will be in the low-30s feeling like the teens.  Winds will be out of the NW at 25-35mph +gusting.  Tomorrow night... clear and windy, temps will be around 30° feeling like 17°, winds will be out of the NW at 25-35mph.  Wednesday... sunny, temps in the low-30s feeling like the teens due to the windchill.  Winds will still be gusty out of the W-NW at 25-35mph.  Be safe out there!

Blair's On Her Way

Mornin'!  It's 25° in Wildwood NJ.  Due to those relentless W-NW winds, it feels like 13°.  I stepped out on the back porch briefly to check the thermostat and it's feeling a bit on the brutal side.  The shovels are on the porch right next to the door, groceries are in and the soup (Black bean and ham) is made. We're set for a major Winter Storm named Blair (apparently that's what the Weather Channel's naming it).  The last big snowstorm here in Wildwood was January 2022.  And, it was a treacherous one.  We got over a foot of snow   We do get snow in the winter from time to time but large accumulations are uncommon because winters are usually milder near the ocean (currently 44°). Plus that salt and brine the ocean provides somehow keeps these snow storms at bay (no pun intended).  With all that said, here's the current state of affairs...
A significant winter storm heading our way from the Southern Plains which should be checking in by this evening.  It's a clear and sunny morning... expect a mostly sunny Sunday, temps in the mid-30s and still very breezy with W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... clouds roll in with snow developing after midnight.  Temps will be where they are now... mid-20s with bit calmer W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Snow accumulation... 1"-3".  Tomorrow... snow in the morning transitioning to snow showers by the afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-30s with NE winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of snow... 100%.  We could get 3"-5" tomorrow.  Monday night... light snow, temps in the mid-20s with N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  We could see an 8" accumulation by the time Blair checks out. Tuesday... sunny but very windy NW winds at 25-35mph+gusting and temps in the mid-30s feeling like the teens.  Strap in and be safe!

Winter's In The House

Mornin'!  It's 30° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 18° with the W-NW winds at 20-25mph +gusting.  It's early and still dark, starlit and clear.  Winter's here and has no intention of checking out any time soon.  Today will be partly cloudy with strong winds  (W-NW at 25-35mph +gusting).  Temps will be in the low 30s feeling like the lower 20s / upper teens.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps will be in the mid-20s with W-NW at 20-30mph but those gusting winds will eventually diminish overnight.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny with some cloud cover from time to time, temps in the mid-30s with W-NW winds at 20-30mp. Tomorrow night... cloudy with snow developing after midnight, temps will be in the upper 20s with NW winds at 10-15mph.  There's a "Winter Storm Watch" in effect from Sunday night through late Monday night.  Expect snowfall (heavy snowfall is possible) throughout the overnight into Monday. Snow will spread over our region late Sunday night and intensify through midday Monday. It should taper off Monday night.  We could see 3-5" of the white stuff Monday (some forecasts have posted 5-9" possible) with temps in the low-30s and NE winds at 10-15mph.   Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday appear to be sunny days with temps in the 30s.  You still have time to get the shovel and ice-melt ready, also the boots, hat, scarf, gloves and don't forget to fill the gas tank in your vehicle and make sure your windshield washer fluid is filled and the scraper is at hand (I also have a small shovel in the car).  It's also time to get those homemade soup fixins' gathered if you haven't already.  My beans have been soaking as well as the Christmas ham bone has been thawing overnight!  Stay safe out there.

Snowstorm-Is-A-Coming!

This Morning's Webcam Shot - Wildwod
Mornin'!  It's 32° in Wildwood NJ.  It's still dark outside but clear with starlit skies.  Ms Sun's not due to rise for over an hour.  The windchill is 24° as W-NW winds are at 15mph.  Clouds are going to begin filtering in later this morning and by this afternoon take over the skies and possibly provide us with periods of rain showers (50% chance).  Temps will be in the low-40s with winds out of the W-SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... periods of rain (70% chance) and possibly snow showers as the temps drop into the upper 20s with those NW winds ramping up at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy and windy, temps in the mid-30s and W-NW winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  Tomorrow night... partly clear from time to time, temps around 25° and gusty winds diminishing.  Sunday... sunny with some afternoon clouds, temps around 35° and W-NW winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Sunday night... watching for a potential winter storm.  It'll be cloudy with snow showers, temps in the upper 20s and NW winds at 10-15mph. Chance of snow is 60%.  Monday... looking at a potential storm coming through Wildwood (95% chance).  Expect snowfall (all reports are saying 3-5 inches), temps in the low-30s and N-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Monday night... snow showers, temps in the low-20s and N-NW winds at 15-25mph +gusting. Another inch of snow is expected.  Start prepping!  It's looking like sometime this weekend homemade soup is part of my prep.  And, since the Christmas ham bone is in the freezer, you guessed it... Ham and Bean Soup is on the menu!  Oh... Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday look like sunny days; cold but sunny.

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels more like 25° with the windchill.  Winds are blowing in from the W-NW at 20-25mph +gusting.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly but not doing much in "warming up" department.  Expect a mix of sun and clouds today with temps in the low-40s feeling more like upper 20s / low 30s with winds out of the W-NW at 25-35mph +gusting over 40mph.  Tonight... clear skies, gusty winds out of the W-NW at 20-30mph + gusting, and temps in the low-30s feeling more like the low-20s.  Tomorrow... starting out mostly sunny becoming mostly cloudy with 50% chance of showers later in the day, temps will be in the low-40s along with West winds calmer than today and yesterday at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow night... 40% chance of snow showers, temps in the low-mid 30s with NW winds at 15-20mph.  As for the weekend ahead... Saturday will be partly to mostly cloudy, temps in the low-30s with those blustery winds returning.  Sunday... mostly sunny, temps in the mid-30s with calmer winds.  There's talk of the white stuff on Monday (90% chance).  Preparedness should be taken seriously.  I'd plan on digging out the shovels, windshield scrapers, ice-melt, boots, hats, scarves, gloves etc... should I go on?  We haven't had any significant snow in a couple years.  I'd take this foretelling very seriously just in case!  We could be digging out a lot more than those shovels and boots.

Happy New Year 2025!

Mornin'! Happy New Year! Welcome 2025! Strap in... we're kicking off the year with extremely windy conditions.  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and wet.  It rained through last night's appearance of the New Year and throughout the overnight.  In fact, we had quite a light and sound show with lightning and thunder.  It's not raining now but we're dripping wet.  We're going to kick off the year with a mix of sun and clouds along with gusty winds.  Expect a partly sunny / partly cloudy day with temps around where they are right now... upper 40s and blustery winds out of the West at 25-35mph +gusting.  Tonight... clear and still windy with temps in the low-30s and West winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny, temps in the low-40s and W-NW winds at 20-30mph+gusting.
