C'est La Vie February!!!

Mornin'!  It's 43°.  It's raining in WW this last day of February.  It'll continue to rain most of the morning as the clouds begin to clear out by this afternoon.  Temps will get just a tad higher...45° today.  Winds are out of the W-NW at 10-15mph and will stay that way all day into this evening.  Once Ms. Sun appears today, it looks like she'll be sticking around for the next 5 days!!!  Love that.  Who would have guessed that March will come in like a Lamb?  Gives me an eyebrow up as I don't trust March as far as I can throw it.  I discovered years ago that March is a cold, raw and extremely, rip-roaring windy month.  Later today starts a nice chain of sunny, somewhat mild days so enjoy.

Foggy Start

Mornin'!  It's 46° in foggy Wildwood.  Dense fog and mild temps are kicking off this damp, very still morning.  The moon is ever so slightly visible looking like a werewolf moon.  Everything's dripping in the darkness.  The roar of the ocean is loud and clear.  Temps are going to rise as it's supposed to be mild while temps stay in the low 50's today.  Ms Sun will make her appearance and begin to burn off the fog and dampness.  Winds will begin to blow in from the S-SW at 20-25mph also giving a hand at drying things out.  Should be a decent day at the Shore.

Tuesday Mix

Mornin'!  It's 34° in Wildwood.  The Full Moon is obscured with hazy clouds.  No stars are visible.  No breezes.  Even though still dark, there's a red horizon.  That's not a good sign.   First, we may see peeks of sun this morning, then the haze will turn into thick cloud cover and by late afternoon...rain.  Temps will be in the mid-40's.  Winds will ramp up by this afternoon from the East at 20-25mph and by tonight a March preview is in store as those Easterly winds will be 45mph as it rains down on the overnight.   Ms. Sun may check back in tomorrow morning.

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood as the full moon shines down illuminating outside and lightening and brightening the morning darkness.  Breezes are light out of the N-NW and will wift (I mean waft) over the island all day from that direction at 10-15mph.  It'll be sunny all day with temps heading into the mid-40's.  Rain is coming later tomorrow and staying checked in throughout most of this week so enjoy today's weather.

Last Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 39° in cloudy, overcast Wildwood this last Sunday in February.  It's gray, damp and drippy outside.  No breezes to write about.  Ms. Sun will have no beautiful presentation over the horizon this morning.  It'll be overcast for awhile yet as the clouds begin to pack up and check out as there's a 20% chance of a shower this morning.  By this afternoon, the clouds will have decreased enough to allow Ms. Sun to check in and warm us right into the 50° range.  Winds will ramp up from the NW at 20-25mph but things will begin to feel less damp as drying out occurs later this morning or early afternoon.  The moon (Snow Moon) is 99% Full and will rise today at 4:54p.m.

Leprechan Leap Day!

2010 Leprechan Leapers
Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood.  It's drizzling and wet.  Not much in the line of breezes.  It'll be in the mid-40's today with breezes coming off the ocean (SE-E) at 12-18mph.  Rain is sticking around most of the day and night and by late tomorrow morning the sky should be clearing.  Forecasters are saying it's not a coastal storm and not heavy rains, but a steady rain on and off.  Could be more than the leapers getting wet today.

"Red Sky in the Morning..."

Mornin'!  It's a balmy 28° in Wildwood.  It's overcast directly overhead, but when looking east, Ms. Sun is brightening the horizon in the most gorgeous, pastel colors of pinks, purples, yellows, corals with a touch of red (I don't have to tell you what "red sky in the morning" means) giving the cloud-cover the look on an extraordinary piece of artwork.  Temps will just about tap the 40's with mostly cloudy conditions.  Breezes will be initially from the E-NE then shift from the E-SE at 10-15mph.  We probably won't see Ms. Sun much as she'll shine few and far between and won't check back in until late Sunday morning.  Looking like a wash-out for the Leapers as they brave the run into the ocean tomorrow as rain is due to commence tonight.

Blustery and Brisk

Mornin'!  It's 26° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and starlit and winds are brisk out of the W-NW at 15-20mph.  Those winds will become even brisker and more blustery a bit later from the NW at 28-35mph with gusting.  It'll be mostly sunny as Ms. Sun will be checked in most of the day while temps climb into the mid-30's.  Still watching Saturday for the Leprechan Leapers and it looks like snow showers in the early morning turning to rain by mid-morning with temps in the 40's.

Blustery & Cold Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood.  It's clear, cold and windy this early morn.  In fact, you can hear the winds...they're howling as they intensely swirl around the streets.  They'll be making their presence known all day by the way coming from the W-NW at 25-30mph with gusting.  Guess we're getting a prep for March. Temps will actually drop as this morning will be the warmest of the day...they're dropping into the 20's and may tap 30° by mid-day. It'll be mostly sunny but Ms. Sun certainly will have to work her magic to bring any warmth into this blustery day.  Still watching Saturday's forecast for those daring leapers into the ocean and it's still looking rainy.

Wet Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 38 balmy degrees in WW.  The sky is clear and starlit.  The breezes are nothing to write about...just a light 5-8mph breeze from the South.  By this afternoon, things begin to switch up as clouds roll in and create a rainy afternoon and evening.  Temps will continue to rise as we stay somewhat mild at 48°.  Winds will stay the course out of the South and will ramp up a bit at 18-22mph.  Thursday appears to be the only totally sunny day this week.  And, Saturday's plunge could be a washout as a rainy day is being predicted for North Wildwood's Leprechan leap into the ocean.  Keeping a close watch on that one.  Here's some beach erosion news... http://watchthetramcarplease.com/2013/02/north-wildwoods-beaches-will-be-ready-for-tourist-this-summer/

Presidents Day!

Mornin'!  Better late than never I say (me and the Pup slept in a bit this holiday)!  It's 25° in Wildwood under bright, sunny skies.  It's pouring in the entire front of the house warming us nicely.  The winds are still kicking up from the NW though at 25+mph and the trees have had another nice pruning.  They will settle down by noon and switch up just a bit out of the W-NW at 10-15mph.  It'll be a sunny, blue-sky, winters day at the shore but stay brisk and cold as the thermometer won't go past 30°.  By this time tomorrow...the clouds and rain/snow showers return.  Glad I made some vegetable-beef barley soup this weekend as it'll take me through the week!

Blustery Sunday

Mornin'!  It's pre-dawn, crunchy snow covered (about a ½" from last night), dark, cloud covered, winds-are-a-howling, biting cold 29° temperature and God knows what the chill factor is in Wildwood this extremely frigid and blustery Sunday morning.   Winds are out of the NW at 25-30mph with gusting.  Temps won't get that much warmer today as forecasters have all said "low-30's" today.  It'll be windy and mostly cloudy with 30% chance of snow showers throughout the day.  We may see peeks of sun by later this afternoon.  All remains to be seen, but I'm going with homemade soup today!

Presidents Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 36° under overcast, cloudy skies in WW.  No wet or white stuff overnight or this morning.  The horizon actually looks bright as Ms. Sun is giving it her best shot to rise and shine this start to the holiday weekend.  Not much in the line of breezes at the moment.  It'll be mostly cloudy all day with snow shower/mix of rain (45% chance) throughout the day as temps rise only a couple degrees.  Winds will be out of the North at 15-20mph. Sea Isle Polar Plunge is today if you feel like a beach day.  Now that Sam's is open on weekends...a nice hot slice of Pizza can surely heal what ails you and just wait until next Saturday for North Wildwood's polar plunge. Tomorrow by the way...has a chill factor in the forecast.

Another Nice One

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood under clear, starlit skies.  There's s light breeze out of the W-NW at 5-10mph.  Looks like another nice one as Ms. Sun will be doing her job warming the island and giving us temps near 50° this start to President's weekend (I've noticed some absentee owners are already here). The clouds won't roll in until late tonight bringing rain showers for the overnight with winds shifting out of the N-NE at 15-20mph.  Those showers should turn to snow and bring a dusting to a couple inches of the white stuff for Saturday (70% chance).  Whatever...getting bored with the continued tidbits of Winter still making its presence known. I'm trying to ready myself for that nasty month of March of ours.  If you've never experienced March in the Wildwoods...it's the most relentless wind-swept, annoying, cold and raw month of them all.  When I first moved here (almost a decade ago) someone told me that about March but my inner weather voice was like, "What...yeah sure...March brings the migrating birds back, along with bulbs peeking through the gardens, seagrasses turning from brown back to green, buds on trees, much warmer sun, and a glistening ocean beginning to warm the soul."  Believe me, I've screamed at the top of my lungs into the air more than once, "STOP ALREADY" to the cold, blustery, misty, foggy, non-stop raw winds, that bear down on us the entire month. Sorry...getting carried away by the thought of March waiting in the dark wings. Back to today's weather...it'll be a nice one as winter days go.  And, a nice holiday weekend too.  Tomorrow...not so much as it'll be the only day feeling cold and wet and wintry.  Sunday and Monday though, we're good to go as Ms. Sun is staying checked in!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Mornin'!  It's 36° under cloudy skies in WW.  No rain pouring down like last night and not sure if we'll see Ms. Sun on the rise at dawn, but she'll be making her grand entrance this morning some time.  No snow dusting last night on the overnight like the weather-folk forecasted.  Temps are heading near 50° as the blue sky and sunshine will abound this Valentine's Day. Breezes will wift (I mean waft) in gently from the NW-W at 5-10mph. The "Dipper" suggested an outdoor picnic for you lovebirds.  Isch don't zink zo.  This lovebird's heading to the "Dog Tooth Bar and Grill" as they're newly renovated along with a nice Valentine's menu!

Ash Wednesday

Mornin'!  It's 36° in quiet Wildwood.  The sky is clear and starlit this early morn.  It's quiet and calm with no breezes to write about.  It's cold and brisk, yet nice for a winter's morning, especially at the Shore.  Happy Ash Wednesday as it's the beginning of Lent this historic Pope resigning week.  Lots of husseling going on in the Vatican at the moment I'd venture to guess.  It'll be partially clear today as Ms. Sun will bring in the day but you won't see any sign of her by later this morning.  The clouds will not only roll in but will bring with them rain (80% chance) by evening.  Late this evening, we should begin to get a dusting of the white stuff (90% chance).  Temps should hover around the 40-42° mark today and dropping into the 30's tonight.  Winds will eventually begin to show from the East at 10-15mph then by tonight shift from the E-NE at 20-25mph.

Shrove Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 43° under starry skies this pre-dawn, pre-lenten morn in Wildwood.  Breezes are calm at 7mph from the W-NW.  It's going to stay clear as Ms. Sun will be warming our island all day.  The winds are a major part of today's weather equation as they'll begin to blow in from the W-NW at 25-30mph w/gusting creating yet another bad hair day.  Guess they're practicing or giving us a sneak peak of the ol' March winds, but we won't go there.  For today...a decent day for Fashnaught Day (the day before fasting) as the temps climb to the low-mid 40's while Ms. Sun keeps us in her warm grasp.  Tomorrow's looking wet and raw again so enjoy blustery, sunny day.

It's raining again

Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood.  It's raining again.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHvb1Fq_caQ  It's supposed to rain all day right into the late afternoon (95% chance).  We may see peeks of sun this afternoon...remains to be seen.  Temperatures will stay moderate as they rise into the low-50's.  After the rain lets up...it'll be first...overcast, then...clearing on the overnight into tomorrow when Ms. Sun returns.  Wave action is happening as they'll be 5-6' all day.  Wind action will be kicking up a bit again from the S-SW at 25-35mph with gusting and combined with the rain today should make for a miserable weather day.  By tonight, the winds will have calmed to 15mph from the West.

Lovely Winters' Day

Mornin'!  It's 21° in Wildwood.  The dark pre-dawn sky is clear and full of stars.  Those amazing, brutal winds have finally subsided.  Breezes will be light today out of the NW at 5-10mph and at the moment...not a breeze to be found.  It'll definitely feel warmer today with partly cloudly to mostly sunny as temps will rise into the 40's.  Nice day to get out and about and soak in the island's lovliness.

Escaped Nemo

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Windy Wildwood.  Winds are out of the NW at 25-30mph with 40-45mph sustained gusts.  No Snow..."thank ye Jesus"!!! You read that right.  We completely escaped snowstorm Nemo.  I'm hearing as far north as Atlantic City and Ventor got a coating of the white stuff.  Towns along the very southern coast of New Jersey including Wildwood...rain event as it poured yesterday and showered lightly last night and the white stuff never landed.  It's currently sunny and windy and cold.  It feels bitterly cold due to the winds.  Temps will just tap the 30° mark as Ms. Sun shines all day and winds stay checked in.  Tomorrow looks much calmer with Ms. Sun still hanging out for the weekend.

Nor'Easter Nemo

Mornin'!  It's 44° in WW.  It's raining hard at the moment.  No breezes to mention this early morn, but the rain's pouring down and the winds will be arriving soon enough (E-NE 20-25mph w/gusting).  It'll be wet and raw and windy along with those heavy rains throughout the day today.  We may get a couple inches of the white stuff but that's not until later tonight.  Everyone around us is having lots and lots of snow.  Our coastal neighbors way north (Boston area) will be getting a possible 2' of snow (that's not a typo).  Our mild temps will give the ol' island a coastal flood watch rather than blizzard conditions.  This will continue throughout today and tonight into tomorrow morning.  By noon tomorrow, this storm should be outta here.  It's looking like "wellies" are a must today.  Don't forget..."new" moon this weekend...a little extra flooding on the high tides.

Mostly a clear one today

Mornin'!  It's 26° in WW.  The sky is clear and the big waxing crescent moon is clear over the ocean (there's a new moon this weekend).  It'll be clear and cold this morning and afternoon.  Then, things will switch up as the clouds will roll in bringing with it a chance of scattered snow flurries and/or light rain by tonight.  As the day progresses, so does the temperature.  By this early evening temps will be in the low-mid 40's.  Breezes will be out of the ENE-E at 10-15mph.  There's a Nor'easter looming and giving the eastern coast the stink eye.  It'll be checking in tomorrow and checking out Saturday.  Unlike Boston's predicted huge snow storm (24"),  temps will be in the high 40's so The Wildwoods are looking like they'll have a "rain event" which could mean major tidal flooding and beach erosion.  Remember the tides react to a "new" moon much like they do to the "full" moon.  Now, where did I put my "Wellies"?

Nice Winters Day!

Mornin'!  It's 33° in WW.  It's cloudy and calm out there in the morning darkness.  The clouds will eventually give way to Ms. Sun today as she shines temps will go into the mid-upper 30's with breezes wifting (I mean wafting) in from the NW at 15-20mph.  There's whispering going on about a Nor'easter headed this way late Friday.  I'd say wtf...but whatever.  The more weather folk I check with...Wildwood's storm looks like a rain event.  I'm giving that one the ol' stink eye.  Today though...looking like a nice winters day at the Shore.

Mild winters' day!

Before beginning my blog, I've included a link to my sister's latest craft project.  For anyone interested in surprising their favorite little tyke with these most adorable tooth fairy bears (dolls), this is your lucky day.  Sis has made each bear and whale with handcrafted love and is there nothing more adorable than this precious gift for those little ones you love who have "summer" teeth?  Speaking of which is 135 days away!
It's 39° in WW as the sky is mostly cloud filled but there are plenty of breaks in them as you can see stars here and there this early morn.  Love the clouds like this in the morning and evening as they usually make the best sunrises and sunsets.  It'll be mostly cloudy today with peeks of sun in the breaks (sunnier tomorrow).  Temps will just increase a degree or two just tapping 40°.  Breezes are nothing to write about but they'll shift throughout the day beginning now from the W-NW then shifting from the N-NW then by this evening..NE all around 5-7mph.  Snow flurries are forecasted for late tonight.  They said that last night but nothing in Wildwood.  High tide:3:18p.m.; Low tide:9:16a.m.; Ocean temp:43°; Sunset:5:27p.m.

Chill-Chill

Mornin'!  It's 27° in WW.  Winds out of the W-NW are 25-30mph so the chill-factor is 16° and that's major "chill-chill" this morning.  The sky is clear and will be most of the day as the forecast is mostly/partly sunny.  Temps will barely tap the 30° mark and the winds are hanging out all day.  Prepare accordingly.  We escaped another round of clippers last night but are still in the path of another one tonight.

Clippers Abound

Mornin'!  It's 29° in white Wildwood.  The sky is bright gray which adds to the white ambiance.  We had about an inch or so of the white stuff again last night from yet another clipper (another is looming for Tuesday btw).  It's supposed to be mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers and/or rain showers throughout the day.  Not sure if Ms. Sun is checking in today; no mention of her.  Winds will be out of the NW at 10-15mph.  Tonight...cloudy and cold (back into the 20's).

Mornin'!  It's 21° in Wildwood.  Sky is vivid blue.  Ms. Sun is shining down.  No breezes to write about.  It's a crisp, cold winters day for sure.  Punxsutawney Phil..."no shadow to see"..."an early Spring for you and me."  God I hope he's right...but that ground hog's track record isn't that great.  One can only hope. Wildwood will have a decent day albeit cold.  Temps will barely get near 30° with winds out of the W-SW at 10-15mph.  It'll be mostly sunny with some clouds rolling in later.  There's another "clipper" heading our way overnight and may provide some more of the white stuff.  Sorry to report yet another one is due on Tuesday.

First of February - Happy Birthday Deb!

Mornin'!  It's 33° in WW under a thickly covered cloudy sky.  It's insulating the island and making a quiet and very still morning.  You can hear and smell the ocean.  Winds will be checking in again a bit later unfortunately...W-NW at 20-30 mph with gusting.  No question they certainly kick up the chill factor.  These clouds we're experiencing at the moment will provide periods of snow/snow flurries this morning with a dusting to an inch of the white stuff.  By this afternoon, the temps will reach the mid-high 30's as Ms. Sun could may make her presentation.  All remains to be seen.  This first day of February is going to kick off the month with a wet and chilly one that's for sure.  For the weekend...Saturday's looking colder and sunnier; Sunday...warmer and cloudier.
