More of the "Jewel" as August bids adieu!

Mornin'! It's get this...59° in Wildwood this morning! Amazing how the "Jewel" begins to radiate subtly over the island. It'll be pretty much a repeat of yesterday this last day of August. Sun's about to rise; sky will be blue with hardly a cloud in it today. Temps will just tap 80°. Hardly a breeze at the moment as breezes will be minimal at 10mph out of the North a bit later, then switching from SE this afternoon. A lovely, pleasant day on the island. So far this week...it's been perfect weather. Lucky folk who made it through Hurricane Irene and had a vacation! Tides: High...9:42a.m.; Low...3:55p.m.; Ocean temp...74°; Sunset: 7:29p.m. Weekend's still looking like it may hold out and provide some lovely weather, although humidity's going to build a bit and that ol' chance of thunderstorms will be hanging out as we celebrate Labor Day weekend. Still amazingly quiet on the island, but vacationers and visitors and tourist have been arriving fillng up the island as they begin to bid adieu to end of August and the summer season...the "Jewel" that is.

Plenty of Pleasantness

Mornin'! It's 61° in Wildwood as the Sun's focused on the horizon and ready for daybreak. No breeze to speak of. It'll be pleasant with temps in the high 70's...perhaps just tapping the 80° mark. Breezes will be wafting in from the sea (northeast) at 10-12mph. High tide:9:20a.m.; Low tide:3:02p.m.; Ocean temp:74°; Sunset: 7:34p.m. The "Jewel" of the year is about to shine brightly. The lucky folk who are here on the island right now (and that's not too many) will be enjoying it's sparkle. Not sure how much sparkle we'll see this holiday weekend as it's looking 50-50.

The "Norm"

Mornin'! It's 62° in WW this morning. Sun's just about over the horizon. Everthing is fine as normalcy is once again back in this islander's life. After arriving home yesterday afternoon and sitting out Hurricane Irene in Pennsylvania 90 miles from here last Friday until Sunday, I surprisingly discovered I missed the bullet as there was no damage to our home. No broken windows, not one tree down (we have 3 on our property), no torn canvas awnings, no flashing lights on appliances, no loss of electricity or gas, no water in the house (although there's a small leak of some kind in the front porch and some water under the house in the crawl space and water still in the back yard). Nothing was amiss...everything is exactly how we left it. Alot to be thankful for and all that anxiety...wasted. Today's weather...a beauty...just reaching 80°...blue skies will abound with minimal breezes out of the North at 5-10mph. A lovely day at the Shore. High tide:8:07a.m.; Low tide:2:19p.m.; Ocean temp:73°; Sunset:7:33p.m. My suggestion is make it a beach day. No one's here yet! Speaking of the beach...sorry to report that did take a hit and suffered some major beach erosion.

146 miles from Cape May

Evening'! Been hunkered down at our daughters in Pennsylvania preparing for the pounding later. It's warm out as the A.C. is on cooling the house. Rain is pouring down in torrents...it's intense tropical conditions. Not much wind is happening yet. There's quite a few very large trees in this area which is of major concern. As for Wildwood...I've been in touch with some WW folk this evening and it's doing the same thing there only with winds now kicking up - heavy winds but the storm is still 146 miles away. It's high tide and new moon as I type. The ocean is now in the streets. Not much more to report other than that ominous feeling of dread as the storm will impact us tonight while we try to sleep. God bless us everyone.

90 miles away

Mornin'! I'm 90 miles away from WW safe and sound at daughter & son-in-law's home in Bucks County. Evacuation was a breeze. Unlike preparing for the evacation. Our drive (no tolls as tolls were suspended) was effortless as we left the highway and took the back roads and beat any traffic out there. In checking the shore weather today...it's basically the same as yesterday...warm, muggy, quiet before the storm arrives tonight. It'll probably begin raining sometime this afternoon and eventually Irene will arrive pounding Wildwood like its never been pounded before beginning this afternoon. (just heard it's begun to rain in Cape May at 7a.m.) Here's a live feed to follow...www.wildwoodmag.com/
I'll be watching. We'll all be watching.

Evacuation Day!

Mornin'! It's 73° this dark, early morn. Talk about quiet. Not a breeze to be had. Not a car on my street other than my own. As I stand on my front landing looking in the direction of Rio Grande Ave., all I see are cars bumper to bumper heading off the island and it's only 5a.m. It's the calm before the storm on this evacuation day. New Jersey is under a State of Emergency says our Governor. And the Director of Emergency Managment has issued a mandatory order of evacuation. He actually said "if you do not leave, prepare by putting an index card inside your left shoe marked with your name, social security number, next of kin and a phone number for identification purposes." After typing this blog, my personal evacuation begins as I head out of Wildwood leaving my home as I once knew it. I'm as hunkered down as I can get for the time being and the rest is in Mother Nature's hands. Today will be mostly sun with periods of clouds as there's a chance of showers sometime later this afternoon. Tomorrow much of the same with more clouds than sun. It'll be muggy and humid both days. Tomorrow night (Saturday) is the window for Irene's impact as heavy rains and intense winds will begin. She'll roar through right into early Sunday evening. It's a new moon as well so the tides will have a huge impact with the floods and tidal surge as the hurricane crushes the island. Tides will be in that 7p.m.-8p.m. hour (Sat.and Sun). Winds will be 75mph sustained and 100mph gusts. Can't believe I'm typing those numbers. By late Sunday evening...calmness should begin to be felt as islanders begin to return home and access what Irene's left in her path. I guess that's all I got as I sign off with hopes of sitting in this exact spot ready to blog about the aftermath! Good luck to all of us in her path!

Sun's fading fast

Mornin'! It's 73° this morning as the day presents the sun. It looks likes it could be a quick show as clouds are in the wings waiting to join in the performance. It'll be mostly sunny this morning but by this afternoon...mostly cloudy. As the day progresses so does the chance of afternoon showers and/or thunderstorms (30%). It'll be warm and muggy with humidity thrown in as temps rise into the mid-upper 80's. S-SW winds will be blowing in at 15-20mph with some gusting. Once the rains begin, they'll continue right into the wee hours of Friday morning. High tide:5:12p.m.; Low tide:10:38a.m.; Ocean temp:77°; Sunset:7:42p.m.; Outdoor activities: first half of the day. Second half of the day: packing the bags for a possible weekend vacation off the island. After this morning, we probably won't see the sun until Monday as the weekend's looking like a washout. By that I mean...The Wildwood's will be visited by either a tropical storm or a hurricane along with a New Moon. The trajectory of the hurricane Irene is being closely monitored. So far...no mandatory evacuations have been issued. Oh...Virginia was hit with another 4.5 earthquake (aftershock) early this morning! Woe is me!

The last of the Beauts!

Mornin'! It's 68° this beautiful summer morning. Not much of a breeze to write about. The Sun just rose over a horizon of clouds painting some fantastic colors in the morning sky. It'll be a beaut today and could be the last one for awhile as chances of rain begin tomorrow as we head into Irene's weekend. Today will be warm and sunny (a bit of cloud cover will be in the mix) as temps rise into the low 80's. Breezes will be out of the South at 10-15mph. Sounds like another perfect beach day! High tide: 4:45p.m.; Low tide:9:55a.m.; Ocean temp: 77°; Sunset: 7:43p.m. Remember the trash...please take care and pick it up!

Another Beauty!

Mornin'! It's 63° this morning with just a very light breeze. Has a touch of autumn in the air this early morning. It'll be another beauty today as sun will shine in cloudless skies, temps will be in the low-80's and humidity will be low. Winds will eventually come from the NW at 10mph and shift direction by this afternoon and head over the island from the SW. High tide:3:18p.m.; Low tide:8:35a.m.; Ocean temp: 72°; Sunset:7:42p.m.; Sounds like a beach day today! Keeping close watch to Hurricane Irene as she heads in this direction. Our weekend will be impacted someway...not sure how severely yet, but something's brewing for WW. For today...remember the trash...please pick it up and don't litter the island!

Footnote: at 1:51p.m. today...an earthquake could be felt on the island! Apparently the epicenter 5.8 magnitude was in Virginia and could be felt up and down the eastern seaboard and as far inland as central PA. There was a 5.3 in Colorado at 5 o'clock this morning too! Might be more than summer coming to an end.

Partly Cloudy-Mostly Sunny

Mornin'! It's 73° in WW. It's cloudy this early morning as the sun's trying to rise and shine. It still feels a bit on the humid side but much more comfortable than it has been. Breezes are coming from the NNW at 10mph. This morning will be partly cloudy, but will give way to mostly sunny skies as this Monday takes shape. Temps will go into the low-mid 80's as winds will be out of the NW at 10-15mph a bit later. High tide:2:15p.m.; Low tide:7:36a.m.; Ocean Temp: 78°; Sunset:7:45p.m. The island's beginning to give off a hint of the "off-season" as it's becoming quieter and much less congested during the week. I'm assuming vacationers are home and now focused on the start of school season rather than what to pack for the Shore. We're on the brink of the "Jewel" of the season. Only 4 weeks until Autumn! If you are here enjoying a beautiful day at the Shore, remember to pick up your trash...please don't litter the island!

Sunday, August 21, 2011

Half & Half

Mornin'! It's 80° this bottom half of the morning. (another late start...had to make the Sunday breakfast after services) Temps will head into the mid-upper 80's with a light breeze from the South at 12mph and will be picking up and gusting at 20mph. Rains-are-a-coming. It'll be partly sunny the first half of the day. Rain...the second half of the day. Clouds will increase by this afternoon and these winds will kick up as the rains begin to pour down. Some showers will be intense and may include thunderstorms. Here we go again right? For now though...sunny and breezy and for the most part...lovely. Tomorrow...even lovelier as this rain system we're expecting will bring much more comfortable, less humid, sunny, more seasonable weather. The windows may once again be opened! Yay! High tide:1:17p.m.; Low tide:7:55p.m.; Ocean Temp:79°; Sunset 7:47p.m. Don't forget...watch the trash...please pick up after yourself!

Looking Good...well...kind of

Mornin'! It's 66° this sunny, calm, beautiful morning in WW. Forecast looks good. It's going up to the mid-80's with a mostly sunny (some clouds) day. It'll be warm, a bit humid and dry as no rain is in the forecast today although tomorrow there is. Winds will blow from the South a bit later at 10mph. High Tide:12:27p.m.; Low Tide:6:57p.m.; Ocean Temp: 76°; Sunset: 7:49p.m. Looking like a beach day to me! Oh...the DEP (Dept. of Environmental Protection) is monitoring an Algae Bloom right off our Jersey coast (Cape May to Ocean County). Apparently this is naturally occuring (warm water temps + heavy rains = rapid algae growth) ...and is related to water currents and nutrient rich water rapidly feeding algae and doesn't appear to cause any threats to our beach or bathers. Could lead to a fish kill though as it robs the water of oxygen thus robbing the fish of life! No threat right? If you do venture onto our beaches to enjoy a pretty decent beach day today...don't forget about your trash...please pick it up...trash is bad enough, but trash and algae sure don't mix!

More Mix

Mornin'! It's 66° in WW. Sun just rose but is obscured by dark ominous clouds. The rains have subsided for now but there's still a possibility of more scattered showers, local downpours (depending where you're at) and more thunderstorms. All of the above were in the mix during the overnight big time. There's a weather advisory and Floodwatch still in effect. It will stay humid with temps in the low-mid 80's. Breezes (none now) will eventually start blowing from the South at 10mph. Most of the day will be cloudy w/rain but peeks of sun are in the mix as well. High tide: 11:07a.m.; Low tide: 6:07p.m.; Ocean temp: 77°; Sunset: 7:50p.m. The weekend's looking 50-50...Saturday being the better of the 2 days as Sunday will be the day for more chances of rain/thunderstorms. Doesn't look like a beach day today...some new movies begin today, or I'll just see you at WalMart again!

Thursday, August 18, 2011

Thursday Mix

Mornin'! It's 72° this early morn. Sun crossed over the horizon a few minutes ago and with a mix of morning clouds, sunburst and blue skies making a colorful sunrise display. There will be a mix of sun and clouds all throughout the day as temps rise and humidity creeps up. Temps will go into the low-mid 80's with breezes out of the South at 10-15mph. There's a 30% chance of thundershowers beginning late today into the evening hours. That chance increases tomorrow but the weekend's looking more dryer than wetter. Today's tides: High:11:04a.m.; Low:5:22p.m.; Ocean Temp: 77°; Sunset:7:52p.m. I'd be making plans to do stuff earlier than later all the while keeping your eye on the sky. You know...some fishing, boating, crabbing, beaching, bicycling, golfing etc...some of the shore fun things that can be had before the mix (rain) arrives. Oh...remember to pick up your trash and please don't litter the island!

Hump Day Perfection

Mornin'! It's 66° this early morn. The air is a bit humid and very still as the sun's about to rise. Guaranteed a perfect sunrise as there's not a cloud in the sky. Everything outside is soaking wet from the island's morning dew. However...it will be a perfect hump day as the forecasters are calling for blue, sunny skies as not a drop of rain predicted. Temps will rise to the mid-80's. Breezes will begin wafting later this morning from the NW at 10mph; then shift from the South by this afternoon. High tide:10:28a.m.; Low tide:4:40p.m.; Ocean temp:74°; Sunset:7:53p.m. No doubt a beach day. The annual Air Show is in Atlantic City today up the coast a bit (50 miles/78 km) and you may just be lucky to catch a flyover of some sort while on the WW beach. Oh don't forget...no littering our island; please pick up your trash!

"Iffy" Tuesday

Mornin'! It's 73° this early morning. Sun's almost up...another 10 minutes or so and the bright, pale, coral sky will be turning bright shades of golds and yellows with the beautiful sunrise. It's all looking very good at the moment. The "iffy" comes later. By this afternoon the forecasters are calling for rain clouds rolling in along with pop-up scattered showers, downpours and/or thunderstorms. Keep aware that the island does some big time flooding especially at high tide. Don't drive through floods waters...more than likely it's the Sea and you're coating the exterior/underneath of your vehicle with Salt! Temps will rise into the lo-mid 80's today as humidity's 86%. Breezes are null at the moment but will be wafting over the island a bit later from the NW at 10-20 mph. High tide: 9:57a.m.; Low tide:4:00p.m.; Ocean temp: 77°; Sunset: 7:54p.m. My advice would be do your outdoor activities this morning or as early in the day as possible, as you may be finding an indoor activity by this afternoon. See you at WalMart! Oh...almost forgot...watch your trash. Pick it up and please no littering the island!

Dreary Monday

Mornin'! It's 73° in Wildwood this early morn. A.C.'s been off since yesterday's cool-down. The much needed, too much/too soon rains finally arrived by late afternoon. Had a little flooding on the ol' island we did. Everything's still heavy with dampness and moisture as daybreak brings no sunrise this morning. All the forecasters are saying that it will be a gray day with no sun, but you never know...there could be a peek or two. There's a very light breeze out of the ENE at 5mph and will switch up later as the winds shift to the NW later at 12-15mph. Temps will stay in the low-80's as a 40% chance of lingering showers will stick around all day into the evening and overnight. High tide...9:15a.m.; Low tide:3:20p.m.; Ocean temp: 78°; Sunset: 7:55p.m.

FOOTNOTE: Since 11a.m. today...blue skies. Nothing but sun and blue skies and without a doubt a beach day. Pick up your trash...please no littering the beach or our island!

Not-So Sunsational Sunday

Mornin'! It's 75° this dark, dreary morning. Forecast doesn't look too promising. Not to mention the North Wildwood Flea Market is today...rain or shine and there's no shine in today's forecast. The success of this huge annual event remains to be seen. It'll be cloudy and humid today with showers and/or thunderstorms periodically (90% chance with 1-2 inches forecasted). There could be periods of no-rain, but they'll be few. Temps will be in the low-80's with a Southerly wind at 16-20mph with gusting. High tide:8:37a.m.; Low tide:2:39p.m.; Ocean Temp: 78°; Sunset: 7:56p.m.

Saturday, August 13, 2011

Another Sunsational Saturday!

Mornin'! It's 80° this sunny, warm, noisy start to the weekend. Noisy...yes, noisy as the neighborhood population is THICK. I'm not talking seagulls today either. Folks are checking out, inconsiderate car alarms sounding, crying kids, barking dogs, car doors slamming, harleys cruising, parents yelling at the crying kids...etc. etc. etc. And, get this...that's with central airconditioning ON! It's almost over...I'm smiling typing that sentence. Now on to subject at hand...today's weather. It'll be a 50-50 weekend...Saturday better; Sunday wetter. The Dipper's words...not mine. Today will be sunny, warm with temps in the mid-upper 80's. SW breezes 10-15mph will shift to Southerly breezes later. Sunday will be mostly cloudy, humid with rounds of showers and/or thunderstorm throughout the entire day. So much for the North Wildwood Flea Market which goes ahead rain or shine! High tide:7:57a.m.; Low tide:1:56p.m; Ocean Temp: 79°; Sunset:7:58p.m.; Moonrise:7:39p.m. (the moon turns Full today at 2:57p.m.). Pick up your trash; please no littering the island!

Friday, August 12, 2011

Simply Suntastic Summer Day!

Mornin'! The Title's not my words...they're the Dipper's. It's a very comfortable 65° this early morning. Sun just rose over the horizon. No breezes to write about. Humidity's down. And, once again the Gulls are celebrating everywhere. When it comes to respecting those of us on vacation who would like to sleep in...the Gulls could care less. Some of us like to hear them regardless of what time they're celebrating and some of us simply sleep through their early morning screeching. Temps will rise into the mid-80's. Humidity will stay down. Breezes will begin blowing over the island from the North, then turn to a seabreeze at 10-15mph. Tides...High:7:24p.m.; Low1:11p.m.; Ocean temp:77°; Sunset:7:58p.m.; Moonrise:7:09p.m. (Full Moon is tomorrow); Meteor Showers: 10p.m.-5a.m. (It's the annual Perseids Meteor Shower weekend)...keep your eyes to the sky (Easterly). Weekend's looking half great; half...not so great as Saturday will repeat today pretty much and Sunday looks rainy. For today though...enjoy...it'll be simply "Suntastic"! Oh...don't litter the island...pick up that trash. Perhaps even if it isn't your trash...it be nice if you'd pick that up too!

Perfect Summer Day at the Shore

Mornin'! It's 75° in Wildwood. The sun just peeked over the horizon all the while beautifully colored clouds are filling the blue sky as daybreak unfolds. Lovely. It'll be just that all day today...lovely. Temps will rise into the mid-80's. Humidity's lower. Offshore breezes will keep us comfortable all day. It's a perfect day at the Shore. Great beach day...what are you waiting for? Time's-a-wasting! 43 days until Autumn. Oh...don't leave any trash there...please don't litter the island. High tide: 6:47p.m.; Low tide:12:21p.m.; Ocean temp:76°; Sunset: 8:01p.m.

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

Much of the same...

Mornin'! It's 77°. Sun's up. Gulls are laughing everywhere. No breezes to write about. It'll be hazy, hot and humid with temps heading into the low 90's. This could be the last day for awhile that we'll see these temps or feel this humidity. Weather folk are reporting that by the end of the day...cooler air will be felt and breezes (from the NW at 10-15mph) will feel more cooler and comfortable as lower humidity seeps over the island. High tide: 5:58p.m.; Low tide: 11:27a.m.; Ocean temp: 78°; Sunset: 8:02p.m. Sounds like another good day for a dip. Watch the trash...that is pick it up! Don't litter the island!

Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Another Rerun

Mornin'! It's 73° in WW. No breeze. Sun's up. Gull's are very loud. We're in for a rerun of yesterday and Sunday. Hazy, hot, humid with temps just about hitting the 90° mark and chance of rain/thunderstorms later today (40%). Breezes will be coming off the sea later at 10-15mph. High tide:5:03p.m.; Low tide:10:28a.m.; Ocean temp:80°; Sunset:8:03p.m. Sounds like a great day for a dip! Remember to pick up your trash and butts and I'm not just talking rear ends. Please don't litter the island.

Monday, August 8, 2011

Muggy Monday

Mornin'! It's 78 muggy degrees this start of the week. There's a little breeze of 8-10mph out of the N-NW that will continue through most of the day. It'll be mostly sunny today with some passing clouds. There's also a chance of a passing shower and/or thunderstorn later this afternoon. Temps are hitting the high 80's and may even hit the 90's today. Basically, it's just about a repeat of yesterday...hazy, hot, humid, some clouds, and that chance of rain later...keep your eye on the sky. High tide: 3:44p.m.; Low tide:9:28a.m.; Ocean temp: 80°; Sunset: 8:05p.m. Don't forget about the trash...pick it up...don't litter the island. Saw alot of it yesterday...cigarette butts galore all around us on the beach (cigarette Butts are made of plastic, of the same type of plastic as is found in plastic bags and soda bottles. They will eventually degrade, especially if the environment is right for that sore of thing (moist, warm and shady) but they will take much longer to degreade if flicked or left on a beach. The nicotine contained in 200 leftover cigarette butts, is enough to kill a full-sized human being according to the admittedly biased http://www.whyquit.com/ and have a negative impact on the wildlife) as well as major trash floating in the nice, warm, clear ocean...gross. And, actually saw a family leave all their trash at the campsite on the beach after breaking down their canopy and umbrellas and chairs etc...trash everywhere and they just walked away. Nice.

Sunday with Showers and Sun

Mornin'! It's 77° this balmy, humid, still Sunday morning. It's one of those fragrant island mornings. The seagulls seem happy. It was torrential downpouring before daybreak and is probably what the gulls were happy about...nice early morning shower for them. This morning will be a mix of clouds and sun as the temps rise into the mid-high 80's with humidity creeping back up all the while. Shouldn't be a total washout but late afternoon showers (40% chance) are predicted today. Winds are nothing to write home about...SSW at 5mph. But, will pick up later same direction at 16-20mph. High tide: 2:56p.m.; Low tide:8:19a.m.; Ocean Temp:80° (you read that right); Sunset: 8:05p.m. Pick up your trash...no littering the island please!

Saturday, August 6, 2011

Weekend Mix

Mornin'! It' 77° this sunny Saturday morning. Temps will rise into the mid-80's today as the muggies begin to creep back into the mix. The sun will stick around most of the day but by this afternoon clouds will roll on in bringing a 20% chance of rain and that chances increases to 70% by tonight. (Looks like rain for the overnight too). Not much of a breeze this morning, but the winds will begin wafting over the island a bit later this morning from the S-SE at 10-20mph. Tides...High:1:49p.m.; Low:7:18a.m.; Ocean Temp: 78°; Sunset: 8:07p.m. Sounding like a great beach morning...don't forget to pick your trash up!

Friday, August 5, 2011

Perfect Start; Perfect Ending

Mornin'! It's get this...64° this morning! I couldn't believe my eyes when I read my porch thermometer. After checking my weather sources...it's accurate...64°! AC's off! Sun's up, humidity is low, very minimal clouds (beautifully tinted pastel colors lighting the sky) and a very light breeze is welcoming this Friday morning...just a perfect early morning at the Shore. It seems like it will be a perfect start to the weekend as it will be partly sunny, temps will staying in the low 80's and breezes are exactly what we like...from the direction of the Sea at 10-15mph. The weekend's looking like it'll start out like today and eventually the sun will give way to clouds and rain which could hang around for late Saturday and the overnight right into Sunday morning. Sunday looks like it will end on a good note. Remains to be seen. You might want to water the gardens anyway. Tides...High:12:46p.m.; Low:7:06p.m.; Ocean temp:77°; Sunset: 8:08p.m. (going down much earlier). Daily reminder...pick up your trash; please don't litter the island.

Thursday, August 4, 2011

Mist to Rain to Sun

Mornin'! It's 73° and on the dreary side this start to Thursday. No sun can be seen rising as it's cloudy and misty outside with the ol' sea fragrance and dampness permeating the island. Everything's wet as humidity's 89%. Clouds will give way to a mix of clouds, rain and some sunshine later this morning/early afternoon as temps rise into the 80's. Winds are out of the NE at 8-10mph and looks like they'll stick around all day today. High tide: 12:20p.m.; Low tide:6:21p.m.; Ocean temp: 77°; Sunset:8:09p.m. Weekend's looking "60-40" as there's some more chances (30-40%) of showers for both Saturday and Sunday. Hey...never got the rain or t-storms yesterday like was predicted so it's all relative and remains to be seen for today's forecast. But, whatever your plans are make it tidy and pick up your trash. Please don't litter the island!

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

Unsettled Wednesday

Mornin'! It's 78 muggy degrees this cloudy, still morning. The sun's trying its best to push the clouds out of its way making for a beautiful sunrise over the island. It'll be unsettled today as variable (weatherman's word...not mine) clouds will be providing occasion showers and/or thunderstorms throughout the day (60% chance). Some thunderstorms could be severe. Lets put it this way...it's more of a WalMart/KMart day than a Beach day, although this morning's looking decent as we'll see more sun peeks than the rest of the day. Temps will be in the low 80's. Winds...when they begin blowing over the island, will be coming from the ENE at 8-10mph. High tide: 10:55a.m.; Low tide:5:04p.m.; Ocean temp: 75°; Sunset: 8:10p.m. Oh...don't forget your trash...please make the effort to not just throw it for the beach sweeper.

Just Lovely This Morning!

Mornin'! It's 73° this morning as the sun's about to expose its big orange self over the coral colored horizon. It feels lovely outside as the humidity is down. The aromas of the sea and bay can hardly be detected. There's a light breeze from the West at 7mph. It'll be sunny and pleasant for the most part today with temps in the mid-upper 80's. We may touch the 90° mark and that's not so pleasant. Breezes will continue to waft over the island out of the WNW at 10-15mph. and that could mean greenhead biting flies on the beach...prepare accordingly! There's a 30% chance of showers tonight (hopefully not affecting National Night Out which the Wildwoods will be taking part) but after last night's intense show of winds, angry dark clouds and thunder and lightning that mother nature displayed for the island, not one drop fell from the sky...amazing. It just passed right over us. So, tonight's rain prediction remains to be seen. Tomorrow however...rain looks likely most of the day. I hope KMart and Walmart are stocking their shelves today. Today's tides: High:10:06a.m.; Low: 4:09p.m.; Ocean temp: 78°; Sunset: 8:10p.m.; 52 days until Fall (was in Rite-Aid last night and Halloween merchanise is on the shelves)! Don't forget...no littering the island...it'll blow into the sea and the sea creatures don't do well with plastic bottles and bags in their habitat. Please pick up your trash.

Happy August!

Mornin'! It's 77° this 1st morning in August. No breezes to talk about yet. Sun just came over the horizon. It's your typical summer morning on the island as alot of weekenders are in the midst of their journey home. Just heard from my better half who's on the Parkway near A.C. that the traffic traveling north is the heaviest he's ever seen on a Monday. Today will be sunny and warm as temps go back into the 90's and humidity builds. Winds will be out of the SW at 5-10mph. There's a 40% chance of thunderstorms later (could be late this afternoon or this evening) so keep your eye on the sky. High tide: 9:18a.m.; Low tide: 3:17p.m.; Ocean temp: 78°; Sunset: 8:11p.m. Keep an eye on your trash...pick up after yourself and please don't litter the island!
