Small Business Saturday As We Bid Adieu November!

Mornin'!  It's 36° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under partly cloudy skies with very light breezes out of the North at 4-7mph.  It'll be a partly to a mostly cloudy day with peeks of sun in the earlier part of the day.  Temps will be in the low-mid 40s with N-NW breezes at 3-6mph.  Tonight... cloudy with temps back into the mid-30s and N-NE breezes at 3-5mph.  Tomorrow... rain will kick off the morning and it will rain all day into the early evening, breezes will be stiff as temps will be in the low-50s.  Monday... beginning the day cloudy with more rain showers in the afternoon.  It's "Small Business Saturday" and there's no better place to be Christmas shopping than at those little coastal towns of ours. Until next year November... See ya!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Mornin'! Happy Thanksgiving!  So many things to be thankful for as we celebrate gratitude and blessings today.  All my "sides" are ready for the Feast today. I made coleslaw, mashed turnips, sauteed brussel sprouts, baked sweet potato casserole and homemade peach pie (which I tried my best to replicate old Groff's (in Wildwood) infamous peach pie).  We're transporting the goods as we head to Philly (with stretch pants on) to spend the holiday with family.
It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 39° with the wind chill.  The W-NW winds are currently howling at 25-30mph +gusting.  And, they're not going to get any better today as they get even stronger this afternoon.  It'll feel cold with a partly cloudy / partly sunny day as temps just about tap 50° with an upper 30° wind chill.  Winds will be out of the NW at 25-35mph +gusting.  Tonight... clear, a bit calmer with winds out of the N-NW at 15-25mph +gusts and temps in the low-40s (feeling like low-30s).  Tomorrow... mostly sunny, temps in the low-40s and a little blustery (nothing like today).  The weekend's still looking 50-50 with Saturday much like tomorrow and Sunday... still looking wet.

Thanksgiving Eve - Travel Day For Some

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and calm (breezes out of the South at 2-3mph).  This travel day will have a 20% chance of rain later this morning and again after mid-day.  The sky should clear later this afternoon with peeks of sun and temps in the mid-50s.  Expect winds to increase big time as the skies clear... S-SW at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... clear and windy with temps in the mid-40s with West winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  I'll be spending today home making the "sides" for the Feast tomorrow up the road. Thanksgiving Day is looking mostly sunny,  with temps tapping 50° and those West winds at 25-30mph +gusting.  Black Friday looks sunny and bright as does Saturday.  Sunday... not so much.

Loveliness Continues

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  It's bright and sunny with hardly a breeze (SW 2-4mph).  It'll be another beautiful autumn day with temps in the low-mid 50s and Southerly breezes at 6-8mph.  I got to take a nice long walk and a boardwalk bike ride yesterday, as it was such a pretty day out there much like it will be today.  Tonight... clear with temps in the low-50s with S-SW breezes at 3-6mph.  Tomorrow... a great day for beginning the food prep as the cloud cover returns bringing rain showers in the morning with peeks of sun late in the afternoon.  Thursday looks mostly sunny and very windy with seasonable temps (upper 40s).  It's the "New Moon" today so the tides will appear much higher and lower than normal.  For the sake of the undercarriage of your vehicle, don't drive through any tidal waters that seep onto the island!

Lovely Fall Monday

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly.  Breezes are light out of the W-NW at 4-6mph.  And, it's a crisp, briny morning.  You can smell the sea the minute you step outside.  It'll be a day with plentiful sunshine, temps tapping 50° and breezes out of the S-SW at 5-7mph.  Tonight... clear, temps in the mid-upper 40s and S-SW breezes at 4-6mph.  A perfect Autumn day and night in my opinion!

Gusty (partly wet) Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels mild but blustery outside this morning.  It's cloudy and wet as it's been raining for the most part "lightly" since last evening.  It's misty rain, with winds out of the W-NW at 20-25mph.  Expect the possibility of a few more showers this early morning possibly into early afternoon (30% chance) when the clouds will give way to peeks of sun.  Today's temps will hover around the upper 40s.  Winds are going to ramp up a bit more still out of the W-NW at 25-35mph +gusting. Tonight... mostly clear, upper 30s / low-40s with West winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday...  "keepers" with plenty of sunshine and temps in the 50s and 60s and light breezes!

Decent Day; Not So Much Tonight

Mornin'!  It's 36° in Wildwood NJ.  We're currently under dark, starlit skies as Ms Sun lies in wait for her grand entrance in less than an hour.  It's cold and crisp without much in the line of breezes (N-NW at 3-5mph).  Expect partly sunny skies this morning with clouds filtering in during the afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 40s with S-SW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tonight... thick cloud cover with periods of rain beginning well after sunset.  Rainfall could be heavy tonight and we could get up to an inch (be aware of possible tidal flooding in low-lying areas). Temps will be in the low-mid 40s with stiff S-SE breezes at 10-20mph.  It looks like we'll wake to wind and rain tomorrow.  The rain showers will head out by late-morning but the clouds seem to like it here and will remain in tomorrow's forecast only allowing Ms Sun to peek in as temps tap 50° and those blustery winds staying checked in (W-NW at 20-25mph).

TGIF! Starting and Ending Perfectly

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear with Ms Sun rising as I type.  It's calm with very light breezes out of the SW at 4-6mph.  It'll be a mostly clear morning as rain clouds begin to cover the island.  Expect rain showers by mid-day with temps rising to the low-50s as breezes begin to ramp up.  Winds will shift from the W-NW at 15-20mph later.  Tonight... clouds clear out as temps drop back a little to the low-40s with NW breezes at 13-18mph.  Tomorrow... we'll wake to clear skies but rain showers are in the forecast for tomorrow evening.  Sunday looks like a rainy day with clearing by the evening.

Looking Like Another Nice One

Mornin'!  It's 42° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny and bright.  Not much to report in the line of breezes as they're out of the N-NW at 2-4mph.  It's a sunny, crisp, quiet morning down the Shore.  Expect a mostly to partly sunny day.  Yesterday turned out to be a lovely sunny day by the way.  My guess is we'll probably have the same weather with sunshine and temps in the low-50s.  Winds will be out of the W-NW at 5-10mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the mid-upper 40s and winds out of the S-SW at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... looks like partly cloudy with rain showers by the afternoon.  The weekend looks like it'll start out partly sunny on Saturday with Showers in the morning on Sunday.

Clouds Early, Clearing Later

Mornin'!  It's 44° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover with Ms Sun up and doing her best to shine through.  By the looks of the forecasts I've checked, we probably won't see much of her as the clouds will probably keep her hidden (at least until this afternoon / early evening).  Currently, winds are out of the N-NW at 10-15mph.  It'll be a mostly cloudy day with temps tapping 50° and breezes out of the NW at 15-20mph.  Tonight... mostly clear with some clouds thrown in the mix as temps drop back to the low-mid 40s and breezes out of the N-NW at 12-15mph.  Tomorrow looks much sunnier with lighter breezes than today and temps nearly tapping that 50° mark again.  Friday... rain showers in the afternoon. And at this time, the weekend's looking mostly gray and "iffy".  By Saturday night, the showers check back in for an overnighter or at least late Sunday morning / early afternoon.  It's all unsettled.

Mostly Cloudy with Peeks of Sun

Mornin'!  It's 44° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover with gray skies.  Breezes are light out of the West at 3-6mph.  I thought Ms Sun was checking in today but it seems that it'll be only for peeks.  It'll be mostly cloudy with temps in the low-50s.  West winds will be wifting (wafting) over the island at 5-7mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy with temps in the low-mid 40s and NW breezes at 3-5mph.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny as brisk winds will be back. Speaking of "will be back"... rain could be checking in for Friday and Saturday.

Another Gray One

Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood NJ.  It's still breezy with North winds making their presence known at 15-20mph.  Windchill is 33°.  It's gray, slightly foggy and misty.  Everything's drenched and soaking wet.  Expect some drizzles this morning as the clouds are staying checked in until tomorrow.  Temps will get up into the mid-upper 40s with periods of light rain (50% chance) and those NW winds at 12-18mph.  Tonight... cloudy with periods of rain showers as temps drop back into the mid-upper 30s. NW winds will finally become much lighter at 6-9mph.  Good news... Ms Sun returns tomorrow with temps in the 50s! Oh, and it looks like she'll be staying checked in throughout the whole week giving us that warmth and Vitamin D we need and crave.

Nasty Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ!  It's gray with Ms Sun doing a little brightening up the skies at the moment.  It's mostly cloudy and misty though.  There's a 40% chance of showers developing late this afternoon / early evening.  Temps will get up into the low 50s today.  So, let's talk "winds" as they're the star of the show this weekend.  Winds are currently out of the NE at 25-35mph + gusting giving us a wind chill of 32°.  They've been howling and pruning since yesterday morning.  Since this storm system is considered a "Nor'easter" that's passing through this weekend, those winds out of the NE will pound the coast in this holding pattern at 25-35mph with gusting over 40mph until Monday morning.   It'll be mostly cloudy and misty all throughout the day as temps tap 50°.  Wind chill will be in the low-40s.  Tonight... cloudy and still very windy with a 40% chance of rain, temps in the upper 40s (windchill-low 40s).   Be aware there is a Coastal Flood Warning posted beginning today at 8am until Monday at 5pm. We're to expect tidal flooding and major beach erosion as these winds (and later periods of rain) continue to pound our shoreline and coast.  North Wildwood will certainly take a hit as the shoreline line is already beaten down and very fragile. Note the high tides as low-lying areas and many streets and roadways may become flooded and impassable.  Don't damage the undercarriage of your vehicle and attempt to drive through floodwaters!

Blustery Saturday

Delaware Bay - Cape May
Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood NJ.  Windchill is 30° with NE winds at 25-30mph +gusting.  Ms Sun's up but battling through the morning clouds.  She has her work cut out for her as the clouds are staying checked in throughout the entire weekend.  Expect partly cloudy / partly sunny conditions today with lots of blustery NE winds at 28-33mph +gusting.  Temps will be in the mid-40s with windchills low-mid 30s.  Tonight... cloudy with temps in the low-40s and windchill of low 30s due to the NE winds at 25-35mph.  Tomorrow... gray and blustery with temps in the low-50s (feeling like low-40s due to those NE winds) also showers  will be developing later in the day.

TGIF

Mornin'!  It's 42° in Wildwood NJ.  It's wet and cloudy with light breezes out of the N-NW at 2-4mph.  It rained overnight but it seems that at the moment we're beginning to dry out.  No rain is in today's forecast but it'll be mostly cloudy, temps tapping 50° and North winds will be light at 4-6mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, temps in the mid-upper 30s and N-NW winds will begin to ramp up from 10-15mph to 20-25mph +gusting after midnight.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny with temps in the mid-40s.  Those Northeast winds will be checked in beginning late tonight until Monday... NE at 20-30mph +gusting.  Rain's headed back our way in the early morning hours Sunday as it looks like a perfectly miserable day with rain and high winds. Prepare accordingly for the Eagles game.  For today though... not too shabby with much milder temps and possibly peeks of sunshine throughout the afternoon (according to a couple forecasts I checked out).

Last Of The Calm Sunny Days For Awhile

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear with moonlit and starlit skies.  It's calm with hardly a breeze out of the SW at 2-3mph.  There's frost on the pumpkin this morning as everything outside is glistening with a layer of frost.  Hubby noted a light sheen of ice on the harbor when walking the pooch this morning as well.  Expect a partly sunny day today with temps just about tapping 50°.  Winds will remain calm today out of the SW then becoming West by this evening at 4-6mph.  There's a 50% chance of rain showers tonight (mostly on the overnight) as temps drop into the mid-upper 30s with winds remaining calm.  Enjoy as tomorrow looks like rain for the first half of the day (before noon).  Extreme winds plan on checking in and staying for the weekend.  Saturday looks cloudy and very windy as we'll probably see rain and wind through to Sunday (around mid-day).  These upcoming rainy/windy weather events are being considered Nor'easters.  Meaning... rain (40% chance) and extremely windy with more beach erosion likely (mostly in North Wildwood) and of course the chance of tidal flooding.  Strap in and don't even bother with the hairspray.

Crisp Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 26° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear with Ms Sun up over the horizon.  It's a bit breezy (N-NW) with 15-20mph winds making the windchill... (what it feels like on the skin) 15°!  It's feeling very wintry out there today.  I even saw some icy patches on some of the surfaces on my back porch and yard.  It'll be a cold one today even with Ms Sun checked in all day. Temps will be in the mid-upper 30s with wind chills in the upper 20s due to the N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clear and moonlit, temps in the mid-upper 20s and N-NE breezes at 3-5mph.  Tomorrow... clouds are checking in but the temps will be in the mid-upper 40s!  However you look at it, some yummy homemade soup is on the menu here to help take out that autumn chill.  Winter is 38 days away.

Full Beaver Moon Today

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  It's gray and completely overcast.  Breezes are out of the W-SW at 15-20mph.  With all that said, it's a relatively okay morning outside.  It doesn't feel that cold and for sure doesn't hit you with a blast of winter.  Yet.  It's coming later today though.  Expect a mild, breezy start to the day without Ms Sun.  Showers are heading this way later this morning as they bring with them a significant drop in temps and major winds.  It's going to be miserable.  The Soup is getting made today! By early evening temps will be in the mid-30s with SW winds at 20-25 +gusting of 35mph making it feel like the upper 20s.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear with a low of 24° feeling like 18° with a North wind at 20-25mph +gusting.  Get out the scarf and gloves!  Tomorrow... sunny, high near the mid-30s and NW winds at 10-20mph.  There is a Gale Warning and Small Craft Advisory posted here until 6am tomorrow.  Expect rough seas and big wave action along with more beach erosion.  It is the Full Beaver Moon (named that by early settlers and indians as it's the season that Beavers take winter shelter in their lodges). I'll just throw out that ol' reminder about the high tides coming from that Moon... with the rain, wind and moon it all equaling one thing to me... possibility of island flooding.  Don't drive through floodwaters!

11-11-19

Hubby's Army Selfie - 1969
Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  It's Veterans Day as we reflect and salute all those who have served in our Military providing us our freedom.  It's observed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.  Thank you for your service!  It seems that "thank you" just doesn't cut it for all the sacrifices our military has made for us.
The weather will cooperate here in the Northeast along our coast providing a pleasant autumn day for our Vets and all of us to enjoy.  We're even going to have a rare event with the planet Mercury crossing in front of Ms Sun's face known as a "transit".  It'll only be visible as a tiny black dot with a specialized solar equipped telescope. Experts say that those old "solar eclipse glasses" won't provide the magnification needed to see the tiny speck.
It's currently still dark outside this early morn with a starlit and (almost a full moon) moonlit sky.  Breezes are out of the SW at 8-11mph.  It'll be a partly sunny/partly cloudy day with temps tapping 60° and S-SW breezes at 9-12mph.  Tonight... increasing cloud cover as temps drop in the upper 40s/low 50s with S-SW breezes at 12-17mph.  Tomorrow... gray with rain and falling temperatures in the forecast.  We could see the 30s by dinner time.  It'll also be windy and raw along with that 80% chance of precipitation.  My guess is we won't have the pleasure of seeing a moonrise tomorrow so if you're interested, today may be the best chance.  Ms Sun returns on Wednesday along with much stronger winds and even colder temps.  I'm already working on the next batch of soup for that blustery, cold snap in the forecast.  It's looking like "Italian Wedding or Escarole" soup is up next on the homemade soup of the day menu!

Mild Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with light breezes out of the South at 4-7mph.  Ms Sun is on her way but will have her work cut out for her as the morning clouds plan on sticking around a bit.  Expect a mostly sunny day though with temps heading into the upper 50s.  Breezes will be out of the SW at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, upper 40s, SW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... almost the same as today with mild temps and it looks like more clouds than sun.  The Full Moon is Tuesday and we just might be able to see one of those spectacular moonrises this week (it's all about the cloud cover).  Tonight's moonrise is a half-hour before sunset.  And, with the Full Moon (and New Moon for that matter) note how high the tides have been as of late.  It's all about the pull of the Moon's force.  The "force" is with us!

Sunshine With A Few Afternoon Clouds

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 21° with a breeze out of the N-NE at 5-8mph.  It hasn't been in the 20s since last year on Thanksgiving day (11-22-18).  It's clear, with a moonlit and starlit sky.  It's crisp and wintry with a handful of sea air thrown in the morning darkness.  Expect a chilly day with partly sunny skies and temps in the mid-40s.  Breezes will be light at 4-6mph out of the NE this morning; switching from the South by this afternoon and then by this evening... be out of the S-SW still at 4-6mph and all of which will help with keeping the chill down.  Tonight's temp... upper 30s / low 40s.  Tomorrow... sunshine and in the mid-upper 50s but with slightly breezier conditions.

TGIF!

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 29° with the North winds at 8-12mph.  Part of the sky is clear (mainland side) and the other part is cloud covered (ocean side).  Ms Sun's up and has crossed the horizon about 10 minutes ago but she's not victorious in shining over the island yet this morning.  It's cold outside.  I didn't see any frost on the pumpkin, but that sea air's got a perfect preview of "icy winter" all over it.  Thankfully, it'll be a sunny day with temps in the mid-40s (it'll feel like the upper 30s) with stiff N-NW winds at 20-30mph creating that windchill.  Tonight... mostly clear, temps in the mid-upper 30s (windchill: upper 20s), and North winds at 10-15mph.  The weekend's looking seasonably cool with partly sunny skies and less wind for tomorrow.  Sunday... mostly sunny, temps back up in the mid-50s with stiff winds checked back in (not quite as annoying as today).  This morning, I turned the ol' furnace on for the first time since last Spring.  Everything looks (and feels) great as this little seashore cottage warms up with a heater that seems to be (thankfully) working for another cold season.  We've been depending on the little gas fireplace to warm our bones as of late but the house heater is just the ticket today!  Happy Friday!

Mix of Clouds and Sun

Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under mostly cloudy conditions with some breaks that Ms Sun's trying to peek through at the moment.  Breezes are out of the S-SW at 7-10mph.  It's feeling a bit chilly and raw outside this morning.  It's that gray sky I'll bet.   Expect mostly cloudy conditions today with periodic peeks of sun as temps climb up a bit more and tap 60°.  Clouds will eventually take over later as SW breezes will switch to NW by this evening when there's a 60-80% chance of rain.  Temps will drop down to the upper 40s tonight into the overnight (it'll feel like the upper 30s with winds beginning to ramp up).  It looks like we'll wake to sunshine tomorrow, but with much more blustery conditions.  The National Weather Service has issued a Small Craft Advisory which is in effect from tonight until tomorrow morning.  The weekend's still looking partly sunny / partly cloudy with cool temps.

Sunny Days!!!

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and still.  Ms Sun's up and no breezes to note.  It'll be a pleasant sunny day with temps in the mid-upper 50s and breezes out of the W-NW at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clear, moonlit and still with temps in the mid-40s.  The weekend at this time looks seasonably cool (40s and 50s) with partly sunny conditions.  Oh... Our Mayor Trioano (of 16 years) was voted out in yesterday's election by the way... the new team of Commissioners are Mikulski, Fitzimons and Byron and they'll decide which one will be the new Mayor!

Election Day

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  We're saturated from the overnight rains.  Everything's been nicely watered.  It's not raining at the moment and by the sound of the forecasts, the rains may be checking out as I type.  Breezes are barely there out of the SW at 3-5mph.  It's actually a nice morning but with some ominous clouds overhead.  Expect a mostly cloudy morning with a 20% chance of rain showers.  Things should clear by this afternoon as temps get into the low-60s while Ms Sun tries to peek in.  Breezes will switch out of the W-NW at 6-8mph. Tonight... clear with temps in the mid-50s with NW breezes at 4-6mph.  Not a bad day (or evening) to get out and cast your vote!  Tomorrow... sunny with temps in the mid-50s.

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny and bright with light breezes out of the East at 4-6mph.  It's feeling more than chilly outside this morning.  Expect sunshine (with a nice warmup) the first half of the day with afternoon clouds drifting over the island.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 50s with S-SE breezes at 10-12mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy with temps in the mid-50s and S-SW breezes at 10-12mph.  There  is a slight chance of a shower tonight/overnight  (20%).  Tomorrow... looking like the possibility of rain is in the forecast for the first half of election day with the possibility of peeks of sun by later in the afternoon.

It's Standard Time!

Lots Of Birds Heading South This Time Of Year
Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  Darkness is fading but it's still starlit outside.  Dawn's on the horizon as the sky is beginning to brighten.  Breezes are light out of the NW at 8-10mph.  It has an autumn chill in the air (not as much as yesterday morning though).  It'll be another beautiful Autumn day with plenty of sunshine, temps in the mid-50s and breezes somewhat stiff out of the W-NW at 15-20mph.  Tonight... clear, temps in the upper 40s and breezes out of the NW at 7-10mph.  Tomorrow... more of the same but less breezy.  We all turned our clocks back one hour before turning in last night... did you?

Last Day for Daylight Savings Time

Backroad to The Shore (route 347)
Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  Hasn't been in the 30s here since April 2nd.  It's cold outside.  It's also calm (breezes out of the N-NE at 2-4mph) and bright as Ms Sun's about to rise above the horizon in about 5 minutes.  It'll be a lovely autumn day with plentiful sunshine and temps in the mid-50s with W-NW breezes light and variable mostly at 3-5mph.  Tonight... clear, with temps in the upper 40s and breezes out of the W-NW at 5-8mph.  Tomorrow... more of the same but slightly breezier.  Tonight... turn the clocks back one hour as Daylight Savings Time ends and Standard Time begins.  Not a fan of dusk settling in and sunset before 5pm.  But, it'll be March 8th before you know it.  Oh... it's "homemade soup" day as Cream of Celery-Leek soup is on tap.  It's time to use all the overload amounts of celery in the fridge!

Welcome, November!

A Key West Sunset
Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly (thank God).  It's still windy (not as bad as yesterday and last night) with winds out of the W-NW at 15-20mph.  Happy November!  It feels like November when stepping out the door this morning.  Blog's a bit late as I took sleeping in to another level, (I think my body's saying it's time to catch up after a wild ride vacation) but I'm raring to go as the Sun pours in and this delicious cup of coffee brings me to life.  It'll be a slightly blustery day with temps in the mid-50s, winds out of the W-NW at 15-20mph and plenty of sunshine.  Tonight... clear, temps in the upper 40s and winds out of the N-NW at 9-11mph.  Tomorrow... calm and sunny with temps in the low-50s and Sunday... sunny and cold (temps barely tapping the 50s) with the blustery winds checking back in!
