Earth Day

Mornin'!  Happy Earth Day!  Founded in 1970 by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson following a massive oil spill.  Our planet is an amazing place and always needing our help to thrive!  Each year on this date, more than a billion people celebrate the Earth in some way and do what they can to protect our planet from things like pollution and deforestation.  By taking part in activities (which should be done on a daily basis not just once a year) such as not throwing or leaving trash thoughtlessly, picking up litter even when it's not yours. Remember, trash and plastics inevitably get blown into the ocean and marsh and as the fish consume our trash and plastics, then we consume the fish. They suggest planting trees, create a pollinator garden for bees and butterflies, composting, recycling, switch to reusable items, reducing meat consumption, keep from impulsively allowing water to run, turning off lights etc. The lights left on is sore spot for me. It's amazing the number of residents who come to their homes here just weekends and off and on during the summer but leave their outdoor (and some indoor) lights on throughout the entire year.  Why???  It's disgraceful.  It's wasteful energy providing light pollution at its very worst.  Not only are their outdoor lights shining into my home, there's no star-gazing as the sky is no longer clearly visible at night or how about saving electric with all their lighting carelessly left on especially in the dead of Winter. Let's all try to be more conscientious and keep our world a more thoughtful, happier, healthier place.

Mornin'!  Winter's back!  It's 36° feeling more like 31° with the N-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Thankfully, I have a gas fireplace in the living room which takes the chill out of the first floor within minutes.  The furnace is "closed for the season" and I'm abiding by it.  Ms Sun's up this morning as there's not a cloud in the sky.  It'll be a sunny day with temps in the low-mid 50s and S-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy skies early becoming cloudy and very windy later.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 40s with Southerly winds at 20-30mph.  Tomorrow... 60% chance of rain in the first half of the day becoming partly cloudy by late afternoon with peeks of sun, temps will be in the upper 50s / low 60s with S-SW winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow night... partly cloudy, temps around 50° with light and variable breezes.  Thursday... sunny and warmer, temps in the mid-60s with North winds shifting from the W-SW at 10-15mph.  Thursday night... fair, mostly clear, temps in the low-50s and N-NE winds at 10-15mph.  You know I don't like getting ahead of myself but, this coming weekend looks like a washout according to future forecasts.  Saturday... 75% chance of rain and Sunday... 50% chance of rain.  Both days will have temps in the low-mid 50s.  Changes do happen as I'm always keeping an eye on things in the ol' weather department.

Monday night... partly cloudy skies, temps in the upper 30s (cover those delicate shrubs outside) and North winds at 10-20mph giving us that creepy windchill.  It's the "New Moon" today meaning it's the first lunar phase which marks the beginning of the 29 day lunar cycle when the Sun and Moon are aligned. It occurs when the Moon is positioned between the Earth and Sun, rendering it invisible from Earth.  Although we can't see the moon, it still has the same pull on our tides and you'll notice that the high tides are much higher than normal.  You may even see water seeping onto the island.  I'd think twice if considering driving through salt water.

Mornin'!  A day of remembrance as the Titanic sunk today at 2:20AM in 1912.  Over 1500 lives were lost.  It's 60° in Wildwood NJ.  Sunrise is only minutes away and the sky is just lovely with all its beautiful pastel colors on the sky's (clouds) pallete just along the Atlantic's horizon.  Winds are light out of the SW at 5-7mph.  They're saying "record high temperatures" today with plenty of sunshine and temps in the mid-upper 70s.  SW winds will ramp up a bit at 10-20mph.  Tonight... a few clouds, temps where they are now... 60° and S-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... intervals of sun and clouds, temps in the mid-70s again and S-SW winds will still be stiff at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow night... a few clouds from time to time, temps still around 60° throughout the night and SW winds at 10-20mph.  Friday (New Moon)... mostly sunny once we get through some early cloud cover, temps in the mid-70s and West winds at 10-15mph.  Friday night... clear, temps in the low-mid 50s and N-NE winds at 5-10mph.  As for this weekend... Mornin'!  Happy Easter Sunday!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and trying to get through and around the cloud cover that's everywhere.  She was shining through a few minutes ago filling my home with sunny warmth.  Not at the moment though.  It's also very windy with winds out of the S-SW at 20-25mph.  Expect a mix of sunshine and clouds this morning followed by increasing clouds and periods of rain beginning this afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-60s with SW winds at 20-30mph.  Chance of rain is 100%.  Tonight... cloudy with 25% chance of rain, becoming mostly clear after midnight, temps dropping into the low-40s with NW winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... except for a few afternoon clouds, mainly sunny Monday with temps in the mid-50s and West winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow night... a few clouds, temps in the mid-40s and SW winds at 10-15mph.  Oh, and by the way, Wildwood did have a lovely, sunny day yesterday for the Easter Bunny and the big Easter Egg Hunt on the beach.  Temps reached 69° by my porch thermometer.  A beautiful start to the weekend!
