Wintry Saturday

Today's Webcam Shot - North WW
Mornin'!  It's 17° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 7° with the windchill.  Winds are out of the NW at 8-10mph.  The sky is painted red this morning with partial cloud cover encircling the island.  It's incredibly cold outside.  I first noticed the empty, dark homes surrounding me when stepping on the back porch and hoped that they all have their heaters on low.  I've learned from working for the fire department here on the island that 55°-60° is safest setting on your heater thermostat while away from your seashore home during the winter months.  Once the pipes freeze from lack of the proper warmth, they will inevitably burst creating cascading water havoc.  Over the 13 years working there, I couldn't tell you how many pipes had burst on my watch.  I was the person receiving the calls.  There's no doubt pipes are freezing as I type.
For today's weather... plentiful sunshine once these morning clouds check out.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 20s with NW winds shifting from the S-SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the mid-upper 20s with S-SW winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... the full moon is tomorrow with partly cloudy skies early followed by mostly cloudy and rain later in the afternoon (30% chance) as temps climb back up to what we're used to... upper 40s.  S-SW winds will still be blowing at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain during tomorrow evening is 60% chance.  Monday... sunny, temps in the upper 40s and not as blustery.

WHOA!!!!! 17 degrees!!!!! That is Ozark weather.

Hopefully your seasonal residents shut off and drained
their water systems when they closed up for the year.

Drip, drip, drip faucets here most of the winter, along
with heat lamps, but can't do that when you will be gone
for months.

Really feeling it for those with frozen pipes. I've been
thru that, heartbreak.
