Wrapping of May with Mostly Gray

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  Once again we're overcast, misty and foggy over the island.  No breezes to note.  It'll be overcast for most of the day with peeks of sun later in the day (if we're lucky).  Temps will just about tap 70° with breezes commencing from the SE at 5-10mph.  There's a 20% chance of a passing rain shower and/or thunderstorm today.  Tonight...low 60s, breezes out of the W-SW at 5-10mph and a 40% chance of a shower and/or thunderstorm.  There were more gray, rainy days in May than there were sunny, pleasant days.  According to my calculations, there were 16 rainy days in May this year.  I guess those April showers were sneaking in.  One thing's for sure...driving on the Garden State Parkway yesterday was jaw-dropping as the trees and greenery looked like we're in the middle of the tropics.  Everything is incredibly green and overgrown.  It was quite amazing seeing that lush intensity already.  We'll have a lot of happy shrubbery tomorrow with plentiful sunshine on tap.  The weekend's now looking 50-50 with Saturday being the sunny day and Sunday...you guess it..."wet".  Until next year...see you around May!

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  There are only 3 vehicles on my street as all Memorial Weekender's hit the pike.   It's overcast, damp, chilly and still.  Breezes are out of the E-SE at 3-5mph. It'll be another gray day but we may see some peeks of sun later.  However, we may also see isolated rains showers and/or thunderstorms throughout the day as well.  Temps will be in the low 60s with E-SE breezes 15-20mph.  Tonight...more clouds with a 20% chance of more passing showers and/or a thunderstorm.  Temps will drop to where they are now with breezes out of the East at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow looks like much of the same with less clouds and slightly higher temps.  Thursday looks like the keeper.  And, at this writing...rain for the upcoming weekend.

Happy Memorial Day!

Mornin'!  It's 60° in very damp Wildwood NJ.  We began to get rain showers and then intense downpours beginning late yesterday afternoon.  It mostly rained all evening and overnight.  The island's saturated.  It's also saturated with folk.  I've never seen these many vehicles parked in my neighborhood (illegal parking everywhere you look).  Hubby and I are having a day off thanks to all the soldiers who died serving our country.  By the way...Memorial Day began as Declaration Day in 1868 when Civil War soldiers grave sites where adorned.  In 1971 it was officially made a U.S. Holiday as the last Monday in May was set aside to honor those who have served and gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country with flags and parades and other remembrances.  Today's weather will be a mix.  We're gray and a bit misty at the moment with breezes out of the NE at 10-20mph.  It'll be mostly cloudy today with a chance of a thunderstorm (20% chance), a peek or two of sun, temps in the mid-upper 60s and breezes out of the NE at 10-15mph.  Tonight...breezy (East 10-20mph) with clouds still checked in and temps in the upper 50s.  We could wake to showers tomorrow.

Memorial Weekend Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  It's quiet although the island's swollen with visiting folk. Not only is there no parking anywhere, but the illegally parked vehicles just in my neighborhood is amazing.  What's mind-blowing is not one ticket on any windshield!  It's currently cloudy and still (hardly a breeze to note).  It feels cool and refreshing outside. Unlike the island's human inhabitants, the birds are up and making their presence known everywhere.  It'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy today with temps in the upper 60s and breezes out of the E-SE at 10-15mph.  Tonight...more clouds but now with a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms especially after midnight.  Temps will be in the lower 60s and breezes will be out of the East at 13-15mph.  Tomorrow's looking cloudier, warmer temps (mid 70s), and more chance of rain showers throughout the day (mostly in the afternoon).

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Mornin'!  It's 65° in sunny Wildwood NJ.  Happy Memorial Day weekend!  The throngs of visitors are checked in and the island's swollen with holiday revelers.  There's not one parking spot left in my neighborhood!  It'll be a lovely day to kick off the weekend celebrations! We're having a lovely morning with the seagulls laughing, Ms Sun pouring down, light breezes out of the North at 3-5mph, and temps that are mild and heading to the low 70s today.  There's a chance of showers late tonight/overnight but for the most part, we're going to have a mostly sunny day with breezes out of the NW at 5-10mph.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with temps in the low 60s and breezes out of the S-SE at 11-13mph.  There's a 20% chance of showers on the overnight.  We should wake to clear skies tomorrow with a chance of rain showers will be in the forecast again tomorrow night.  Just an fyi...Monday's got rain in the forecast.

Sunny Friday Memorial Weekend Kickoff

Mornin'!  It's 60° in sunny Wildwood NJ.  Yes...it's sunny!  It's clear and crisp with not a cloud in the sky.  The morning breezes are out of the West at 16-22mph.  It'll be a lovely day to kick off an unsettled weather holiday weekend.  Today we'll have plentiful sunshine with temps in the upper 60s (perhaps tapping the 70s) and breezes out of the West at 20-25mph.  Tonight...clear with breezes out of the W-NW at 18-25mph as temps drop back down into the upper 50s / low 60s. Here's some of that unsettled weekend weather...Cool temps much like today with Saturday now being 50-50 with a sunny start and showers developing later in the afternoon / early evening.  Sunday is now a mostly sunny first half of the day with a mix of clouds and clouds filtering in by the afternoon.  And, Monday is looking like a mix of clouds and sun with rain clouds rolling in during the evening as there's a 40% chance of rain. Since we're on the unsettled side...the forecasts for this weekend will undoubtedly change and I'm watching!  Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

More Water On Tap

Mornin'!  It's 56° in wet Wildwood NJ.  We've got us some rain coming down this morning!  It's been raining at a good clip since the overnight.  It's breezy (East 20-25mph).  And, it'll be another rainy/breezy day.  One forecast mentioned peeks of sun by early afternoon.  Hmmm....not sure about that one as we're scheduled for another wet, damp, rainy one with clouds and scattered showers with the possibility of thunderstorms (mainly during the late afternoon).  Gusty winds and even a possible hail storm can't be ruled out.  Temps will be in the upper 60s with SE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight...upper 50s, winds switching it up from the SW at 10-20mph with 60% chance of scattered rain showers and/or thunderstorms.  Keep your eye on the tides and expect tidal flooding.  On a warmer, brighter note... Ms Sun does plan on checking back in tomorrow and staying until Sunday. Sunday and Monday = more gray, wet weather.

Partially Wet Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly with breezes out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  It's feeling raw and chilly out there this morning.  It'll be a mostly gray day with rain showers up to mid-day.  Temps will barely tap 60° with breezes off the ocean (NE at 15-20mph).  We may see peeks of Ms Sun in the early afternoon but the clouds will most likely win the gray sky / blue sky battle.  Tonight...clouds with winds out of the East at 20-25mph and temps where they are now...upper 50s.  Tomorrow looks like more of the same.  Friday and Saturday look like mostly sunny days.  Sunday and Monday...not so much.  It's a New Moon tomorrow (can barely see it in a clear, starlit sky) and if you've been noticing...the tides are incredibly more swollen than usual.  The combination of a very high astronomical tide and an on-shore flow will be pushing that extra water (at least a foot) toward our coast. Not to mention all this rain isn't helping.  Expect some tidal flooding especially this evening's high tide.

Another Gray and Wet One

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  It's overcast and gray.  Everything's damp from the overnight's fog and drizzles.  No breezes to note.  I doubt if we'll see Ms Sun today as the forecast is saying another gray day with 60% chance of showers and/or misty fog.  The rains probably won't sprinkle down until later this afternoon but it'll feel damp (sock kinda day). Temps will rise a bit into the mid 60s with breezes commencing out of the E-NE at 9-11mph.  Tonight...80% chance of rain with temps down into the upper 50s and breezes out of the NE-15-20mph.  So far...the big breakout, start-of-the-season, upcoming weekend is 50-50 with Saturday being the nicest of the days with sunshine and warmish temps and Sunday looking gray and wet and Monday having a 30% chance of rain showers.

Tonight...temps in the low 60s with more light rain in the forecast with those S-SE winds sticking around too (10-12mph).  Tomorrow...a repeat of today but with blustery winds.

Lovely Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 60° in sunny Wildwood NJ.  Blog's a bit late this "sleep-in" kind of morning.  But, what a gorgeous morning to wake up to.  All the windows were opened a few inches last evening and the stiff, cool breezes (E-SE 15-25mph) are coming in every window it seems.  Smells terrific along with the fresh coffee and bacon frying thanks to hubby. This is one of the things life is about!  It'll be breezy all day into this evening with temps in the mid-upper 60s and Ms Sun shining down all day.  Tonight...the breezes (SE 15-25mph) bring in the cloud cover as temps drop down into the upper 50s/low 60s with a 50% chance of rain showers.  Tomorrow looks like a washout...90% chance of rain (possible thunderstorms too).

Blustery Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 62° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got a lot going on this morning in regards to weather.  Ms Sun's up and doing her best to break through the leftover clouds from last night's storms and we have strong onshore winds out of the E-NE at 20-30mph.  We also have loud screeching and/or laughing seagulls everywhere.  They're probably happy with relief that the storms have passed (major thunder and lightning and shearing rains last night).  It'll be much cooler today with temps in the mid-upper 60s and breezes staying checked in (NE at 20-30mph). We supposed to have considerable cloudiness as well.  Tonight...still a bit cloudy and windy (E-NE 10-20mph) and temps in the mid-upper 50s.  Tomorrow...still breezy and mostly sunny with cooler temps staying checked in.  It sure won't be nothing like this passed Thursday or Friday though...missed those couple of warm, summer beach days.  Never fret...you can always count on more of those to come!

The Hits Keep Coming...Another lovely day!

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny with a light breeze (SE 7-9mph).  The shorebirds are kicking off this lovely day with lots of happy chirping.  In May thousands of shorebirds arrive as Cape May is a migration point and considered by some to be the World Series of Birding.  More than a million shorebirds pass through our area this time of year.  I'm not into birding but do appreciate the different sights and sounds of so many variety of birds visiting my little part of this coastal area.  As for today's weather...it'll be another lovely one.  Mostly sunny (some clouds in the mix today) with temps tapping 80° and breezes out of the W-SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight...breezy as more clouds roll in but mostly clear with temps back into the mid-upper 60s and breezes out of the S-SW at 20-25mph. Tomorrow...more clouds roll in with a 20-30% chance of rain showers.  The weekend's looking much cooler and breezy.

Tomorrow...plenty of sunshine and still breezy with temps in the "upper" 70s (possibly tapping 80°).

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and still (no breezes to note).  Ms Sun's about to cross the horizon and shine down on the island all day long.  Blue skies are on the weather menu all day today!  The temps may be tapping the 70° mark.  Light breezes will eventually wift (waft) over us from the N-NW at 5-10mph.  Tonight...clear with S-SW breezes 5-10mph while temps slowly drop down into the mid-upper 50s.  Wednesday, Thursday, Friday look like they'll be repeating today's weather, albeit, Friday late afternoon/early evening could bring cloud cover and eventually showers.

Mornin'!  Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's trying her best to rise and shine.  We've got some leftover clouds from yesterday's Nor'easter (oh that's right...it wasn't a Nor'easter).  We got a very heavy dose of watering though for which I'm very grateful.  All my plantings and flowers are looking very, very good this Sunday morning.  Today will be pleasant with abundant sunshine and temps in the mid-upper 60s.  The breezes are something to write about...none at the moment but they're coming from the W-SW first at 10-20mph, and by this evening switch from the NW at 25-35 w/40+ mph gusting.  Temps will drop into the mid-upper 50s with clear skies.  Enjoy your day Moms!

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  I've heard that we're not having a Nor'easter today but it's raining at a good clip with winds out of the E-NE at 30-35mph w/gusting.  Feels like a Nor'easter but it's just a rainy day down the shore.  We're going to have light to moderate rainfall all day up until late tonight when the rains turn to a drizzle and the drizzle turns to cloudiness.  Today's temps will be in the mid-upper 50s.  Tonight...temps back down into the low 50s as this rain system somewhat clears out of here while the winds will be the last thing to check out at N-NW 20-30mph w/gusting.  Keep the wellies handy today as you might have imagined that there will be tidal flooding today.
Tomorrow...mostly sunny and breezy with temps in the upper 60s.  Mother Nature is looking down upon our Mothers!

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up.  Breezes are out of the E-SE at 12-19mph.  It'll be a fairly nice day with clouds filtering by later this morning or early afternoon.  Temps will be just about tapping 60°.  Tonight...more clouds and by later tonight (9ish) the drizzles begin with temps dropping into the low 50s and winds out of the East 15-25mph.  It'll rain all night into tomorrow morning (great "sleeping-in" day) and rain all day tomorrow into Sunday as there's a slight chance (20%) of a shower Mother's Day morn.  Saturday's a crapola washout.  Not sure what's happening with this weekend's Classic Car Show...guess it's still on the activity calendar as the cars line up along the boardwalk.

It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear but cloudy along the horizon and Ms Sun just passed over the horizon and trying to shine through those clouds!  It's nice outside.  The fragrance of the sea surrounds us.  It'll be another nice one today...light breezes out of the West at 5-10mph with temps in the low-mid 60s and plenty of sunshine.  Tonight...clear, low-mid 50s and breezes out of the East at 9-13mph.  Tomorrow...things begin to change by the late afternoon / early evening as we're heading into a cloudy then wet weather system beginning tomorrow evening.  Friday and Saturday are looking very wet as Sunday seems to be holding out for some of that warmer sunshine.  All three days will be very windy.

The birthday girl is celebrating along another coast in Savannah Georgia (closer to her home)!

Sunny Monday

Mornin'! It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  No typo.  It's a bit on the cold side this early morning.  There are even patches of ice and frost on the car windshield (hubby just pointed that out to me).  We had our share of cold, heavy downpours on the overnight. Our skylight in the upstairs hallway during these heavy downpours sounded as though it might have been hailing little golf balls as it was so loud it kept waking me with each storm passing through.  Everything got an excellent soaking! At the moment we may be damp and soggy out there but Ms Sun's up and ready to do her best to dry us out today.  Temps will be tapping 60° today with breezes out of the W-NW at 15-20mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the low 50s and breezes switching from the SW at 12-16mph.  Tomorrow and Wednesday...pretty much the same as today.

Gray Cinco De Mayo

Mornin'!  It's 57° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got cloud cover, mist, sounds of the surf crashing, brisk breezes (SE 15-20mph).  It's a perfect day to pull the covers up and sleep in.  Not happening though but hopefully that'll be happening tomorrow.  Today will be miserable...rainy (100% chance) with winds out of the S-SE at 25-35mph and temps in the low 60s.  Tonight...more rain...gusty thunderstorms (60% chance) and winds out of the South at 20-30mph with temps in the upper 50s.  Oh...remember about tidal flooding...as the Full Moon is next week and already drawing higher tides so all that rain they're forecasting could equal flooding on the island. The weekend...more chance of rain (60%) and windy with peeks of sun and temps in the mid 60s for tomorrow. Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and breezy (E-NE 10-15mph) with Ms Sun coming over the horizon as I type.  It'll be yet another pleasant day down the shore with temps in the mid-upper 60s, blue skies and breezes out of the East at 11-15mph.  Tonight...clouds roll in as there's a rainy weather system checking in during the overnight bringing rain and winds (Easterly 16-18mph with gusting 25mph).  This system isn't going anywhere until overnight Saturday.  We should wake to rain tomorrow and sun on Sunday.  Thankfully the full moon is next Wednesday but hey...keep one eye on those tides as they looked pretty swollen last night on the evening high tide.  Rainy Weather Systems + Full Moons = tidal flooding.  Just saying.

Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a lovely morning with clear skies, no breezes and Ms Sun just crossing the horizon.  It'll be a mostly sunny day with temps in the low-mid 60s with breezes out of the W-NW at 20-25mph.  Tonight...clear with N-NW breezes at 10-15mph and temps in the upper 50s.  At this time the weekend's looking like another one of those 50-50 ones with Sunday being the dryer and sunnier of the two days.

Bad hair day

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover and gray skies. We had a nice steady rain throughout the overnight and everything's watered and damp outside.  It's breezy with winds out of the W-NW at 10-15mph.  Ms Sun's supposed to check in today but will be covered with some of those leftover clouds as she gradually begins to shine down.  Winds will all over the place from the West to the W-SW at 15-25 w/gusting (possibly 40mph).  Temps will be in the low 70s. Tonight...clear with West winds 10-20mph and temps in the upper 50s.

Hello Again May!

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  Welcome May!!!  May is usually one of the nicer months in South Jersey along the coast.  We can only hope.  But, it's one of my favorites (September is my favorite).  It's clear. Ms Sun is up and a'tem.  No breezes to note (yet).  For some reason I can hear the surf crashing and there's no insulating cloud cover to help with that.  Sounds nice.  I'm not the only one enjoying it as the gulls sound happy too!  It'll be a nice one today. Sunny with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the South at 8-13mph.  By this afternoon, the winds will begin to pick up shifting from the S-SW at 18-21mph.  By this evening...temps down into the low 60s with winds shifting again from the South at 25-35mph w/gusting.  After 11p.m. it's supposed to get cloudy as showers and/or thunderstorms are on the menu (80% chance).  Tomorrow so far looks like repeat of today.
