Until Next Year June...

Mornin'!  It's 74° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny and calm (breezes out of the N-NE at 2-3mph).  It's a lovely summer morn with the sounds of everyone's air conditioner including mine buzzing and humming when stepping onto the back porch.  The Heat is on!  Our surrounding tri-state area will be experiencing temps at least 10 degrees (and higher) above average this holiday week.  Even though our island is much cooler and more comfortable than the mainland and the big city (Philadelphia), it'll still be very warm here as temps get into the 90s with Ms Sun glaring down with intensity.  Unfortunately, we'll have a warm land breeze (W-SW 5-8mph) taking us right into this evening which will be partly clear with temps in the low-mid 70s. Any breeze that has "West" in it...keep the insect repellent handy for those nasty biting greenhead flies.  And, when packing your beach bag...plenty of water, sunblock, a hat and footwear is a must.  I'm seeing a lot of sunburnt skin on the beach as of late as well as folks running with burning foot pain while running across the smoldering sand without shoes/sandals.  I was dipping in the ocean (several times) yesterday and it's becoming much warmer (low 70s) yet refreshing and near perfect in my opinion.  The entire beach day was near perfect...a "10" on a scale from 1 to 10!  Hopefully, it'll repeat for the remainder of this holiday season as we bid adieu to June!  We did have some rather nice weather this month.

TGIF Heat Wave

Mornin'!  It's 76° in Wildwood NJ.  It's summertime on the island!  We've got Ms Sun warming us already.  Very light breezes out of the NW at 3-5mph.  The fragrance of the marsh is heavy with summer as we head into a steamy day and weekend.  It's going into the mid-upper 80s today with blue skies and hot sun pouring down as W-SW breezes wift (waft) over the sand at 5-7mph (some Westerly breeze there...don't forget to pack some insect repellent).  Speaking of "sand"...it'll seem like the surface just above the sand will be rippling with heat (don't forget footwear); it's going to be hot.  Humidity will be in the 60-70% range.  Tonight...clear with temps back down into the low-mid 70s with breezes out of the W-SW at 6-8mph.  Tomorrow and Sunday...ditto of today (and could be even warmer as "We're having a heatwave, A tropical heatwave,  The Temperature's rising, It isn't surprising.")

Never stick them in the sand and leave them...that'll be tomorrow's find for the little kid digging in the sand.  Plus, cigarette filters take years to decompose and could be taken to the ocean by the tides giving sea life harmful/toxic cigarette filter tidbits to swallow. Smoking is banned on the Boardwalk in all the towns by the way.

~Feeding the seagulls is a big no-no. Eat and snack smartly. Using hands to express emotion when holding your sandwich up or out is a magnet for swooping gulls. Dropping one potato chip thoughtlessly will create seagull havoc. Eat under your umbrella or hooded sand chair as the seagulls are much like vultures and are endlessly eyeing beachgoers eating habits.  They're relentless trying to find the right opportune moment to swoop down and pluck your lunch right out of your hand or mouth (seen it happen many times).  If successful, seagull havoc begins as 40 other gulls come in for a food fight of your scattered lunch.  By the way, seagulls know "chip bags" and if they see one sticking out of your unsupervised beach bag, they will think nothing of helping themselves and remove the bag of chips from your bag as well as share their newly acquired snacks with their gull friends while you're taking a walk or a dip (seen it happen many times).
~Playing ball, frisbee, horseshoes, corn hole, or kite-flying etc is a no-no at the beach.  I mean on the back side of the beach (dune side) or other designated areas is more appropriate for active beach games.  Stay away from those camped out that are simply trying to enjoy their quiet, relaxing beach day.  The beach patrol will probably stop you if playing in the wrong area anyway.
~Shake towels and blankets away from others noting the wind direction.
~Observe and follow posted beach warnings (closed beaches, no alcohol, strong rip currents, surfboard/boogie board area etc) and always pay attention to lifeguards.  If in doubt...ask the lifeguard (they're terrific people).
~Let's all enjoy our ocean and beach together!

Full Moon Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  It's partly sunny / partly cloudy and breezy with winds out of the S-SW at 15-20mph.  It's beautiful out there.  I can't get enough of these lovely morning island breezes.  All windows are open; for now anyway as I'm hearing a heat wave is headed this way.  Beginning tomorrow...Ms Sun will be heating the island and bring temps near 90° for a stretch of days ahead.  For today...these clouds will help keep the heat at bay with temps just tapping 80°.  Breezes will be out of the South at 9-13mph.  There's a 30% chance of precipitation as the heat always brings the possibility of rain and/or thunderstorms. Tonight...mostly clear, temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the NW at 7-10mph.  Full Moon is today...remember those tides...higher than normal and tidewater could be seeping into the streets.  Don't risk damaging the underside of your vehicle if you drive through those corrosive waters.

Rough Hump

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover with stiff breezes out of the SE at 10-20mph.  It's gray and breezy with stiff ocean breezes wifting (wafting) over the island.  The windows are open, curtains are in motion and you can feel the cool dampness coming through the house.  It feels nice.  It'll be a somewhat crapola kind of day with mostly cloudy conditions as well as peeks of sun, low 70s and stiff breezes (SE at 15-20mph).  We could have an isolated shower after lunchtime (20% chance).  The clouds aren't going anywhere for awhile. The chance of showers and/or thunderstorms tonight is 60% as temps drop back down to around where they are now with those pesky (very stiff) breezes (Southery 18-25mph) circling around us.  One forecast mentioned that some of these storms could produce heavy rainfall.  Keep in mind the Full Moon is tomorrow and the higher than usual Tides are already making their presence known.  Be aware that we could see tidal flooding with or without any heavy rainfall especially during the high tides.  Don't drive through water flooding the island as it's tide (salt) water.  The weather also doesn't look that great tomorrow as it could very well be a repeat of today...gray and damp.  At this time, the first of the July 4th weekends is looking lovely (beginning Friday) with warmer temps and plenty of sunshine.  I need to mention the surf as "moderate" risk is posted for rip currents today.  Check with lifeguards before entering the surf, swim near a lifeguard and never swim alone or at night.  The ocean's going to be a rough one today.

Splendid Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood NJ. It's another lovely morning down the shore.  Ms Sun's up and at'em with no breezes to note.  The fragrance of the sea is infused in that lovely fresh air.  The seagulls and island birds are aware and making their presence known.  It'll be another lovely day and evening this last Tuesday of June.  Expect plenty of sunshine, temps in the mid-70s and breezes off the ocean (SE at 10-13mph).  Tonight...mostly clear with a nearly full moon and temps back into the upper 60s with the SE breezes at 12-14mph wifting (wafting) over the island.  Just a reminder that the beach sand is extremely hot and you'll certainly have a very difficult time traversing it without foot protection.  But, folks do it time and time again.  I just don't get it.

Mostly Sunny Monday

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny, breezy (NW 10-12mph) and much less humid than yesterday and last evening.  It's refreshing and almost feels like an autumn morning.  The sky is once again blue!  It'll be a lovely day down the shore with temps just about tapping 80° and plenty of sunshine (there's supposed to be some clouds in the deep blue sky as well) with breezes out of the NW at 8-12mph.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps in the mid-60s and breezes out of the E-NE at 5-8mph.  Tomorrow...just about the same with temps a bit lower (mid-upper 70s).  Full Moon is on Thursday this week!

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 95%.  It's still with no breezes to report.  It's foggy and misty and drippy.  No rain coming down but everything's soaked outside.  We're supposed to see more of Ms Sun than we have for the last couple days beginning later this morning.  It'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy today with temps in the low 80s and breezes out of the S-SW at 9-12mph.  Tonight...clouds return with a 50-60% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms.  Temps will drop back down into the low 70s with breezes out of the W-SW at 5-8mph.

Moist Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy, foggy and misty at the moment with lots of drippiness happening.  Not much in breezes (S-SE at 4-6mph).  It'll be much like yesterday...gray with light misty/light drizzle conditions and 35-65% chance of rain showers and/or thunderstorms.  Temps are supposed to head up to near 80° with breezes out of the S-SW at 10-13mph.  I wouldn't completely rule out peeks of sunshine.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the SW at 9-10mph.  Tomorrow...the keeper of the weekend...mostly sunny and in the low-mid 80s.  It's the Italian Fest in North Wildwood and Bobby Rydell's in town!  Doesn't get any better than that!

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and breezy (E-NE 18-22mph).  It's not looking too great for today and tomorrow I'm sorry to report.  First today...this first Friday in summer begins with clouds and grayness.  We have a 50% chance of showers beginning later this morning with Easterly winds at 15-20mph +gusting up to 30mph.  Temps will barely tap the 70s.  Tonight...cloud cover, showers (60% chance) with Easterly breezes at 20-25mph.  Tomorrow...showers in the morning with a 70% chance of rain throughout the day into the evening (there is a chance we could see peeks of sun tomorrow).  Sunday's still looking sunny and warm.

Summer's Upon Us!

Our Little Lana (she's heading this way for the weekend!)
Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Summer!  It's officially the longest day of the year...almost 15 hours of daylight...5½ more hours than the Winter Solstice.  The Summer Solstice marks the exact moment when the sun's direct rays reach as far north as they get (appearing straight overhead)...highest and longest path through the sky, the Earth's position is causing our Northern hemisphere to tilt right toward Ms Sun bringing more direct sunlight thus warmer temps. We may not see much of Ms Sun today though as it'll be mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms today (mostly after Noon).  She'll definitely be peeking through the cloud cover off and on today though.  Temps will barely hit 80° with West winds at 6-8mph becoming NE by this afternoon.  Tonight...20% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms with temps in the mid-60s and Easterly breezes at 6-10mph.  Sorry to report that tomorrow and Saturday don't look too promising.  Both have mostly cloudy days with chances of rain in the forecasts (especially on Saturday) as Sunday's the keeper on this one!  Whatever way you look at it...it's Summertime and the livin' is easy! Happy Summer!  We'll be celebrating this weekend with our little ones visiting!

Nice Hump - Last Day of Spring

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining down with hardly a cloud in the sky.  Breezes are very light out of the East at 2-4mph.  It'll be a mostly sunny day with temps in the mid-upper 70s with breezes out of the S-SE at 5-10mph.  Tonight...clouds begin to roll in as temps drop down into the low 70s with breezes out of the South at 9-12mph.  Tonight brings a cloud/rainy weather system that seems to be checked in for awhile.  Tonight's overnight will bring rain (60-70% chance) which will be continuing through most of tomorrow and I'm sorry to report Friday and Saturday.  I've tried to pull up some better weather reports and can't find one.  This was supposed to be clear sailing of a near-perfect weather start to summer week but it's not the case. Things change tonight as rains are due in.  At this point, Sunday looks great.  I'll continue to report my findings because we all know how unpredictable and fickle the Weather can be.  By the way...my porch thermometer read 91° yesterday afternoon and there was no mention of that in any forecast.  It was a really hot and humid one yesterday. Ending on a good note...this last of Spring's a keeper!

Doppler Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 81° in Wildwood NJ.  The blog's a little late due to sleeping in as that ol' "insomnia thing" snuck in during the night again.  Whew...it's warm and humid out there this morning!  We're under cloud cover at the moment with no breezes to report.  No...wait...Ms Sun just broke on through.  That's exactly the kind of day it's going to be...mostly cloudy with Ms Sun peeking through as temps get even higher...mid-upper 80s.  Breezes will eventually begin out of the N-NW at 9-11mph.  Rain...15-20% chance depending on where those rain clouds are, so keep that doppler nearby.  In fact, before beginning this morning's check on the forecasts out there...the doppler had a rain "green" system heading right for our section of the island.  So far, so good though.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with temps in the low-mid 70s and breeze out of the S-SE at 3-5mph.  Tomorrow...partly sunny / partly cloudy with cooler temps...mid 70s.

Lovely Monday

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  We're in the soup as we've got some very heavy fog over the island.  No breezes to note.  It's quiet and still and drippy.  It'll be a warm one today once Ms Sun breaks through all this moisture covering the island.  We're supposed to have some lovely clouds in the deep blue sky a bit later. Temps will be tapping the 80° mark with breezes commencing out of the S-SE at 9-12mph.  Tonight...more cloud cover moving in, temps in the mid-70s with breezes out of the S-SW at 10-14mph.  Beginning on the overnight, we might see some heavier clouds roll in as there's a 20% chance of a passing shower and/or thunderstorm.  All the forecasts I've checked are now saying 40% chance of rain tomorrow as the temperature rises into the mid-80s.  It'll be another lovely day down the shore today.  Just keep your eye on the doppler tomorrow.

It's Father's Day!

Mornin'!  Happy Father's Day!  It's 70° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly.  No breezes to note.  It's not too humid and just a tad warm.  There's more of that loveliness out there kicking off yet another beautiful morning!  It must be alll those father's up there who ordered up another perfect day for all the Dads out there! Expect plentiful sunshine, light Southerly breezes 5-10mph and temps in the low 80s.  Tonight...more lovely Spring weather with temps in the upper 60s, breezes out of the South at 6-11mph along with that lovely, big crescent moon shining along with all those stars.  Last night's sky was breathtaking.  Oh...did a beach day yesterday from 11-3 and it was everything you'd want for a beach day...blue skies, cool breezes, hot sun, comfortable (not too cold and not too rough) ocean along with light crowds.  A couple things though...the sand is "hot" already in this early season.  I'm talking burnt feet if you were to wear no foot covering traversing that beach.  I'd also suggest a canopy of some kind as I saw many folk sunburnt just frying in the blazing sun with no cover.  Remember Ms Sun's great to have around but she's very serious when it comes to sunburn.  Think umbrella, canopy, chair with a sunshade, hat (floppy's an even better idea), sunblock, rash guard swim tees (rashie)... think smart.  Today's blog is dedicated to my husband as he's one of those terrific fathers in this world of ours. So very blessed to have him as my partner but even more so as the father of our children. Love you sweetheart. And, also to my own father who was a sweet, kind, fun-loving man and who was the catalyst behind the revelation of the seashore and coast to me at a very early age.  He's the reason there's salt to my pores and sand in my shoes!  Happy Father's Day to all you fathers out there!

Happy Sunny Saturday!

Photo from "Wildwood 365"
Mornin'!  Happy Weekend!  It's 68° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny with no breezes to note.  It feels like a perfect morning down the shore.  I could just cut and paste yesterday's blog into today's.  Many more weather blessings are being bestowed upon us with some "near perfect" weather days continuing up ahead.  It'll be sunny today with barely a cloud in the deep blue sky.  Temps will tap 80° with breezes first wifting (wafting) from the W-NW then by mid-day S-SW all at 4-6mph.  Keep in mind breezes coming from any westerly direction could bring the ol' biting greenhead flies so pack the insect repellent (I got bit a couple times yesterday but didn't need to apply). Tonight...more great sleeping weather with clear skies with temps back down into the upper 60s and breezes out of the S-SW at 8-10mph.  Tomorrow...ditto and Monday...ditto.  In fact, anyone reading this who's had a vacation planned here this coming week (a bit cheaper rates prior to the 4th of July too) has hit the weather jackpot (it's the start to Wildwood's restaurant week by the way).  It'll pretty much repeat this weather all throughout next week (maybe a thunderstorm/rainy period on Tuesday night), but a blessed weather week up ahead overall!  Enjoy the "Jeeps" as it's "Jeep Invasion Weekend" in Wildwood!

Friday Weather Blessings

Mornin'!  It's 67° in sunny, beautiful Wildwood NJ.  Not a cloud in the sky and breezes to note as it's just a perfect morning down the shore.  We just might be looking at an extremely nice beach day today!  It'll be warm (tapping 80°) with plenty of sunshine and winds out of the NW at 9-13mph.  Later as temps drop and the island cools off (back into the mid-upper 60s by tonight) and the breezes shift from off the ocean (E-NE to SE at 4-6mph) it'll make for an extraordinary evening. The weekend's looking like a repeat of all of this as well!  Weather blessings are bestowed upon us as Spring begins to fade.  Summer's checking-in in 6 days!

Friday Beach Etiquette tips~
~Never leave trash on the beach and even better yet...pick up any that you see whether it's yours or not.   Note trash and recycle containers are situated everywhere.
~Don't forget those cigarette butts...collect and trash them.  Or just don't smoke and pollute the lovely sea air.
~Remember to pack headphones for your music device (believe it or not no one wants to hear your music).  Big, loud boom boxes are not welcomed on the beach.
~Kindly give your neighbors space when selecting your beach site. Courtesy is key. Careful not to plop only inches from others' blankets/umbrellas.
~Teach children beach etiquette. Running (basically "kicking") nearby others and throwing sand is a no-brainer but sometimes you'd never know it.

Flag Day!

Mornin'!  Happy Flag Day! It's 75° in Wildwood NJ.  That's no typo either.  It's warm this morning.  It feels like summer (1 more week to go).  It appears we may have a lovely stretch of weather for the next 5 days including the upcoming weekend! It's currently sunny, a bit humid and breezy (W-NW 15-20mph).  It's a lovely morning...has that Key West feel.  It'll be feeling a bit tropical as temps reach 80° and Ms Sun shines down from a deep blue sky all day.  There's a chance of some of those milky clouds wisping up there too.   Breezes will be out strong at times out of the West at 15-20mph +gusting.  It's a little early in the season, but you might want to pack the insect repellent as the Westerly winds bring the biting greenhead flies.  Tonight...clear with temps in the upper 60s and breezes out of the W-NW at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...ditto; Saturday...ditto; Sunday...ditto; Monday...ditto!

New Moon Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 66° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly and has been for a couple hours.  Everything's been watered thanks to Mother Nature and is soaked again and drippy. Humidity's 95%. It's gray and misty with light breezes out of the South at 6-9mph.  It'll be a mostly cloudy day (some peeks of sun possible late this morning / early afternoon but don't hold your breath).  For the most part, the clouds have really been overstaying their welcome and have no intention of checking out at least until tomorrow.  We could see more rain before nightfall (30% chance) but no forecasts are reporting a washout.  Temps will be in the low 70s with S-SW breezes at 10-14mph.  Tonight...cloudy with scattered showers and/or thunderstorms (40% chance) as temps head back to the upper 60s with breezes out of the SW at 10-13mph.  Tomorrow...more splendid weather!  It's the "New Moon" today which has the same effect on the tides as a "Full Moon" so be aware of any extra high waters seeping onto the island and avoid driving through it if at all possible (it's extremely corrosive).

A Splendid Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  No breezes to note but all the cloud cover is outta here!  Ms Sun hasn't been shining this brightly since Friday.  Four straight days of clouds (with last Wednesday thrown in the mix...5 days of recent drab, grayness over the island)!  It's great to see her again.  It'll be a blue sky / sunny, no humidity kind of day with temps in the upper 60s / low 70s with breezes out of the E-SE at 8-10mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the low 60s and breezes out of the S-SE at 5-8mph.  Tomorrow...cloudier and warmer with rain due in on the overnight into Thursday morning. Other than a couple overnight rains throughout the week, the forecast looks pretty good with sunshine and warmer temps right into the weekend.  Today looks splendid!

Blah

Mornin'!  It's 60° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining and windy (E-NE 15-25mph).  We just had about an hour of torrential downpour rain.  There's a Flood Advisory and Flash Flood Watch posted.  The dog won't go out.  There's no real flooding out there but the street along the curbs are full of water.  We are majorly saturated.  I always despised Mondays and ones with this kind of blah weather made them so much worse.  Now that I'm retired and everyday's a Saturday, I pulled the covers up listening to the hammering of rainfall as I fell back to sleep. It's all good.   I got to work on the dog though as he's not a fan of heavy rain...full bladder or not.  Expect rain (100% chance) the first half of the day.  The some periods of heavy rain as Flood postings are until this afternoon.  We just might see Ms Sun begin to peek through and shine down the later part of today.  Temps will only be in the low 60s with winds out of the E-NE at 15-25mph as it'll feel chilly and damp.  Tonight...rains should be checked out and be partly cloudy, temps in the upper 50s with NE winds at 11-18mph.   Tomorrow...sunny, cooler (mid-60s) and breezy.  Wednesday (New Moon day) will bring more rain.

Gray Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  Whew, it's damp out there!  We're under cloudy skies with plant life dripping everywhere this morning.  The ground is dry but it's obvious we're saturated from yesterday's and last night's rains.  Ms Sun's up there and trying to brighten things up but the clouds got this one.  She "might" break through a couple of times but for the most part, it'll be another gray and damp day with the possibility of showers and thunderstorms beginning around noon.  Temps will only get up into the upper 60s with Eastery breezes at 6-14mph.  Chance of rain is 40%.  Tonight...more showers and thunderstorms are likely as some rainfall/storms could produce heavy rainfall.  In fact, there's a flash flood watch posted for tonight.  1-2" is possible.  Temps will drop into the upper 50s / low 60s.  Easterly breezes will ramp up at 15-20mph gusting as high as 25+mph.  Tomorrow...60% chance of rainfall, breezy and chilly.  Ms Sun may check back in by Tuesday but there's a 20% chance of rainfall as well as more rain on Wednesday.  You'll have to wait for Thursday...it's the keeper!

Kinda Wet This Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  We're in the midst of a light rain shower at the moment.  Lots of cloud cover out there but there are some clear spots in the morning sky too.  Ms Sun's really trying to break through and shine.  It's very bright and almost sunny outside.  It's a mild, calm, expressive kind of morning.  The clouds are insulating the island creating the sounds pitter-patter of rain,  the surf (6+ blocks away) crashing and the birds (especially the seagulls screeching, laughing and chirping) who are making their presence known in what seems like all the neighborhoods.  I can even hear ducks quacking from the harbor.  Then, there are the distant (some not so distant) sounds of visiting vehicles (old jalopies and motorcycles) with their loud (show off) engines revving at every intersection. In fact, that's what woke me. There's a lot going on this weekend as the island hosts an array of boisterous events.  I guess that would include the Wildwood Beer Festival as well as the Summer Mummer's parade.
Today's cloud cover will provide an 80% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms throughout the day and into tonight.  Temps will get up into the mid 70s and winds will wift (waft) in from the South at 5-10mph.  Tonight...more showers (60% chance) and/or patchy fog with temps dropping down to the low 60s and Southerly breezes at 4-6mph. Tomorrow will have less of a chance of the wet stuff (25-50% chance) as showers will be more sporadic but it'll be breezier. Sorry about the crapola weekend weather forecast but don't let it stop you.  Let's all pray that this repeated weekend weather pattern turns around sooner than later.  Afterall, summer's only 12 days away!

World Oceans Day

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining through the somewhat cloudy but blue sky. Makes for a lovely sunrise.  Hardly a breeze out there (E-SE 0-2mph).  It's a bright and lovely start to this World Oceans Day. The world celebrates the magnificence of the Earth's oceans today.  At least 30% of our oceans must be protected.  50% of the oxygen we need to survive is generated by the ocean. The ecosystems in those vast bodies of water must be conserved if for no other reason than for our own survival.  The oceans give us life's riches and must be taken care of for the future health of us all!  It's going to be another lovely day with mostly sunny conditions and temps in the low 70s.  Breezes will commence first out of the South at 6-10mph then later this evening from the S-SW at 13-15mph.  Temps will drop back down slightly to the mid-upper 60s with mostly cloudy conditions.  It's still looking on the wet side for the weekend, unfortunately.  40-50% chance of rain tomorrow and 30-40% chance Sunday.  The Race of the Gentlemen, The Wildwood Beer Fest, The Summer Mummers Parade, and The Wildwood's Slammedenough Car Show is all this weekend www.wildwoodsnj.com.  It'll be a perfectly pleasant weather day today so get on out there and be kind to that ocean of ours!

Friday Beach Etiquette tips~
~Never leave trash on the beach and even better yet...pick up any that you see whether it's yours or not.   Note trash and recycle containers situated everywhere as The Wildwoods do recycle.
~Don't forget those cigarette butts...collect and trash them.  Or just don't smoke and pollute the lovely sea air.
~Remember to pack headphones (believe it or not no one wants to hear your music blaring from your boom box).  Big, loud boom boxes are not welcomed on the beach.
~Kindly give your neighbors space when selecting your beach site. Courtesy is key. Careful not to plop down in others personal beach space.
~Teach children some beach etiquette. Running (basically "kicking") nearby others and throwing sand is a no-brainer but sometimes you'd never know it.
~Playing ball, frisbee, corn hole, or kite-flying etc is a no-no at the beach.
We must live together in peace with kindess to each other as well as our oceans.

Lovely Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 62° in Wildwood NJ.  We're gray and dry with no breezes to note. We're under cloud cover at the moment.  Ms Sun's up there somewhere (she rose at 5:32 this morning) but the clouds are having their way with her at the moment.  Expect a mostly sunny, cool day with temps in the mid-upper 60s and breezes out of the SE at 8-10mph.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps in the low 60s and breezes out of the S-SE at 5-7mph.  Looks like a repeat for tomorrow too.  I'm just crazy for this weather as of late.  I'm afraid the weekend doesn't have such a terrific forecast... Saturday's got a 40-50% chance of rain and Sunday...90% in the a.m. and 30% in the p.m.  But, stay in the moment as it looks like a beach day today!

Lovely Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  The skies have cleared out after some torrents of rain last night.  We had our share of some intense thunderstorms last evening and showers overnight as everything outside is nicely watered.  You're watered inside too if you forgot to close your windows.  For now...my windows are once again opened as dawn is fast approaching.  The island birds are enjoying this weather as they make their presence known in the cool morning sea air.  Ms Sun's plan is to shine down today in the beautiful azure sky again as temps barely tap 70°.  Breezes are barely nothing at the moment (E-NE 2-4mph) but will wift (waft) in from the E-NE at 9-12mph later today.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps in the low 60s and breezes switching direction coming from the SE at 4-6mph.  Tomorrow looks like a repeat of today and for the weekend...scattered clouds and thunderstorms but Ms Sun's planning to be in the mix as well.

Pleasant Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's about to cross the horizon with no breezes to note.  Seagulls are squawking and laughing everywhere this morning. I would say that maybe they know something that I don't know but there's no doubt I can see, smell and feel it with my own eyes.  I just opened all the windows in the house!  It's a perfectly lovely Spring morning down the Shore.  It'll be a pleasant, mostly sunny day with temps in the mid 70s and breezes out of the W-SW at 10-15mph.  Tonight...clouds roll in as there's a 60% chance of rain including thunderstorms.  Temps will drop down to where they are now...low 60s with winds out of the NW at 15-20mph. Tomorrow...we're supposed to wake to tonight's leftover clouds with Ms Sun due in tomorrow along with cooler temperatures.  Tomorrow, Thursday and Friday look like keepers!

Happy Monday!

Mornin'!  It's 63° in sunny and breezy (W-NW 12-14mph) Wildwood NJ.  The weather blog's a bit late due to a couple things... minor insomnia and sleeping in.  Plus, hubby and I just hit the yard hard and did some major clean-up due to yesterday's weather mess.  We were up the road yesterday for our newest grandbaby's baptism.  Driving home to the Shore last evening was extremely intense at times going through some major heavy rain and storms. And by the looks of our property, we got some major stormy, windy weather here along the Coast.  Leaves and branches covered everything with outdoor furniture moved around by the winds. It's trash pick-up day so we went into "hired help mode" and just spent the last 30 minutes cleaning up so we could bag it all in time for trash pick-up.  It feels terrific out there!  It's sunny with a nice breeze and not a stitch of humidity.  It feels cool and crisp and perfectly lovely.  I didn't want to come back into the house and I hadn't even had my cup of coffee yet!  I'm not sure how bad it got here yesterday (by the looks of things it was pretty intense) but we're on the upswing today.  Expect an awesome weather day with plenty of sunshine, low humidity and temps in the low 70s with breezes out of the W-NW.  Later this afternoon, the breezes will ramp up big time coming from the same direction (N-NW) at 20-25mph.  Tonight...clear and still breezy with temps in the low 60s.  Tomorrow...looks like a repeat of today as it'll still be sunny and on the breezy side.  The remainder of the week looks like a good one at least until Sunday.  But as we know...it can all change.  Happy Monday!  And, God Bless Lana Rose!

Rainy Sunday

Mornin'! It' 63° in Wildwood NJ.   We're under dark clouds with misty/foggy conditions.  It's windy...very windy (E-NE 25-35mph).  It's sweater weather after yesterday's windless, humid, warm and muggy day.  There's a morning chill in that breezy air.  I just went through the house closing windows!  It'll be chilly and wet today as showers and thunderstorms are likely (96% chance).  Some storms could produce heavy rain.  Temps will only rise a few degrees (67°) with those easterly breezes at 25-30mph +gusting.  Tonight...more rain (at times heavy) with temps around 60° and breezes out of the East at 15-25mph.  Chance of precipitation is 80%.  Tomorrow...Ms Sun and warmer temps just might be checking back in by the afternoon!

It's the Weekend!

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining down.  No breezes to note.  It's humid (93%) and hazy and foggy.  It's beginning to feel a bit tropical out there.  Beginning later this morning, there's a 40% chance of a shower and/or thunderstorm passing through as clouds take over.  Temps will be in the upper 70s perhaps tapping 80° with breezes out of the SE at 5-7mph.  Tonight, flash flood warnings are posted for tonight as well as tomorrow. Some of the passing showers/storms could produce very heavy rainfall. Be aware and prepared if it floods. It'll be cloudy tonight, 60% chance of rain as temps will drop into the mid-60s with easterly winds at 12-17mph.    Tomorrow...much like today with a higher percentage of rainfall along with the windy conditions thrown in the mix.  Count on Tuesday for more pleasant, blue-sky kind of weather.   I did the beach yesterday afternoon for the first time this 2018 season. I must have typed at least five descriptive sentences to explain that experience. I keep backspacing and rewriting to try to get it right.  I packed lightly...lunch, book and sandchair (no beach cart, umbrella or blanket).  There was hardly anyone there (Wildwood Crest beach).  Low tide was happening and the beach was extra long.   It was hazy and a bit foggy as you could see the mist moving just above the sand while the sun tried her best to shine through.  The smell of the freshly raked sand was overwhelming and intoxicating.  The waves crashing provided just the perfect cool, light, refreshing breeze.  The ocean's still cold but bearable (65°).  Folks were dipping to my surprise (no lifeguards on duty).  I find the ocean uncomfortable at this temperature but somehow I just stayed in it mesmerized absorbing the cold salt water into my pores (that is from the thighs down).  The whole experience truly fed my soul and will stay there for quite awhile no doubt.  For this weekend...it's the Morey's Beach Jam (hundreds of kids camping on the beach) and the National Elks Convention as the island's loaded with Elk folk.  Keep your eye on the sky this weekend!

Well Hello There June!

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood NJ.  Welcome, June!  Summer's just around the corner!  We'll have a tiny taste of it today once the clouds clear out of here.  At the moment, it's partly cloudy with hardly a breeze (W-SW 3-5mph).  Everything's wet from all the misty, foggy, drizzly conditions we had yesterday and last night.  We're supposed to have a reprieve from the clouds and wetness at least until this evening. Expect partly sunny / partly cloudy conditions with temps in the mid-upper 70s and breezes out of the South at 8-10mph.  Tonight...temps in the upper 60s and breezes out of the S-SW at 6-8mph with clouds taking over and bringing us increased chances of rain showers and/or thunderstorms.  Keep your eye on that doppler.  The weekend and Monday are looking gray with mostly cloudy and/or wet conditions, cooler temps (low-mid 60s) and chances of rain showers/thunderstorms the entire weekend.  We probably won't see Ms Sun again until sometime Tuesday. This first day of June looks like a keeper for the most part so you might want to get out and enjoy!  Oh...I failed to mention that it's the start to Hurricane Season so you might want to go through that ol' survival kit and make sure it's up-to-date.  Here's the list of 2018 season's names...
