See You September!

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  It's currently sunny and breezy (East 10-15mph) this last day of September.  This year, September's been very good to us in regards to the weather.  It was near perfect in every way almost every day.  The "Jewel" truly displayed its brilliance this year.  I'm sorry to see it go that's for sure.  Hopefully, October will give us those sparkly peeks every now and then.  It'll be a fairly nice day today with a sunny start as it'll be mostly sunny this morning with clouds filtering in and increasing this afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-70s with breezes out of the East at 12-16mph.  Tonight... cloudy with temps in the low-mid 60s and E-SE breezes at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... more of the same with a mix of sun and clouds and breezes.  Wednesday will have that summery feel as it taps the 80s once again!  As we leave you in our wake... see you in September...until next year!

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and quiet (not much in breezes N-NE at 4-6mph).  Ms Sun's due up any moment (6:50am).  It'll be another lovely day down the shore.  Expect plenty of sunshine with some clouds in the mix, temps in the low-mid 70s and breezes out of the E-SE at 7-9mph.  Tonight... clear, temps in the upper 60s and breezes out of the S-SE at 7-9mph.  Tomorrow... lots of cloud cover, temps in the mid-upper 70s and breezes a little brisker than today.   Oh... the "New" moon is tomorrow so you may see some very high and low tides.  The earth's tides at New Moon time are just about the same as the Full Moon.  We could even see some tidal flooding on the island at high tide in low-lying areas.  Don't drive through tide (salt) water as it's extremely corrosive.  Also, the back bay (marsh) area's tides are an hour later than the ocean's tides.

Autumn-Like Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  It hasn't been in the 50s here on the island since June 4th.  It's chilly outside this morning.  It's chilly inside this morning!  It's partly cloudy as Ms Sun's making a spectacular show while working those rays of hers through these morning clouds.  It's a bit breezy with N-NE winds at 10-14mph.  It'll be somewhat of a cloudy morning turning to a sunny afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 60s with NE breezes at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clear skies with temps in the upper 50s / low 60s and E-NE breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... more sunshine and temps in the low 70s.  The weekend's still holding on as very nice autumn weather with sunshine and seasonable temps.  And, by the way... big overload weekend here in Wildwood.  It's the Fall Irish Festival (North Wildwood), it's the Seafarers Celebration (Wildwood Crest), it's the start to Morey's Oktober Fest (Mariners Pier), its the Wildwood Harvest Fest (Fox Park) and it's the Boardwalk Classic Car Show among other things.  Click on Events Calendar under my Personal Favs to see what's up ahead!

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got an autumn seashore chill in the house this morning.  Ms Sun's up and shining through some cloud cover making for a lovely picturesque morning along the coast.  We currently have some of those N-NE breezes at 10-12mph which intend to ramp up today.  Expect a partly cloudy, breezy day with temps in the upper 60s and breezes out of the NE at 19-22mph +gusting.  The sky should clear by later this afternoon / early evening as temps begin to drop back down into the low-60s with breezes still brisk out of the NE at 16-22mph.  Tomorrow... a mix of sun and clouds, not as breezy but still seasonably cool (upper 60s).  The weekend's looking A-OK with plenty of sunshine and temps in the low-mid 70s.

Friday the 13th - Harvest Full Moon - Firefighters Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 68° in Wildwood NJ.  We're gray and blustery with winds out of the E-NE at 20-25mph +gusting.  No rain but it sure looks like it might start any minute now.  Expect a mostly cloudy day with peeks of the sun if we're lucky.  Temps will hover around where they are now barely tapping 70°.  Breezes will remain stiff out of the E-NE at 25-30mph +gusting. It's a total bad hair day.  No rain posted on any forecast for today and one forecast mentioned peeks of sun this afternoon.  Tonight... mostly cloudy with temps dropping to the low-mid 60s with East winds at 15-20mph.  I doubt if we'll see that Harvest Moonrise tonight.  It seems like that happens a lot at full moon time.  It truly is a remarkable event if your timing is right and the weather is fully cooperating.  The weekend's looking "eh" with tomorrow being the better of the two days.  Saturday looks like partly cloudy, peeks of sunshine, the mid-70s with a chance of showers at night.  Sunday has a chance of showers during the day with temps tapping 80°.

Mornin'!  It's 74° in Wildwood NJ.  It's still (hardly any breezes) and muggy (humidity's 94% with a dewpoint of 73°).  The sky is mostly clear with those morning horizon clouds obscuring Ms Sun who's on her way whenever she sees fit to shine on through.  She'll be battling clouds throughout the day as it'll be partly cloudy with temps in the low-80s.  Breezes will be out of the West at 7-9mph.  There's a 60% chance of a scattered shower and/or thunderstorm this afternoon which may contain strong gusty winds.  Tonight... more possibility of showers and/or thunderstorms early (80% chance) as temps drop into the upper 60s/low 70s with rain moving out to sea around midnight.  Winds will be gusty tonight out of the NE at 20-30mph.  Tomorrow... Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a repeat of yesterday morning.  Breezes light at 4-6mph out of the SW, Ms Sun's up and shining through the light haze and the humidity's at 87% with a dewpoint of 67°.  The birds are everywhere making their presence known as they make their stopover before heading down South (I've been seeing lots of migrating birds flying South along the horizon).  It'll be another "jewel" albeit breezier today.  Expect plenty of sunshine with temps tapping 80° and breezes out of the South at 10-15mph +minor gusting.  Tonight... clear moonlit skies (Full Harvest Moon is Friday), temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the S-SW at 12-17mph.  There's a 30% chance of an isolated passing shower or thunderstorm after 11pm.  Tomorrow... we could possibly wake to showers as Ms Sun peeks through partly cloudy skies throughout the day.  There's still that possibility of a passing shower tomorrow as well.  I realize as all of us do that today is the anniversary of 9/11.  Our thoughts are with those who had to endure anything to do with that horrific disaster.  It's also my wedding anniversary and the happiest day of my life.  Here's to you honey... today's blog is for you!  For us and our happy seashore life together "Cheers"!

Coastal Flood Advisory Posted Today

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and windy (NE 25-30mph +gusting).  It's not raining at the moment but it feels incredibly damp outside (90% humidity).  We're beginning to feel the remnants of Hurricane Dorian with these winds and dampness.  Expect some tropical storm conditions with winds and rain and you guessed it... tidal flooding.  There's a Coastal Flood Advisory posted as the winds will be pushing the surf onshore throughout the day and evening.  Be aware of low-lying areas on the island as you may have to move your vehicle to higher ground.  There's an 80% chance of rain today with NE winds at 25-35mph +gusting throughout the day and night.  Temps will be in the low-70s.  Tonight... 20% chance of rain with cloudy skies and temps in the low-60s.  Winds will continue to pound the island right into tomorrow.  The weekend's still looking sunny and warm.  The winds will calm down significantly but will remain on the "stiff" side (N-NW at 10-20mph).

Mornin'!  It's 72° in Wildwood NJ.  The Weather Man on the Philly TV channel just said it's 66° in Wildwood.  Wrong.  According to my back porch thermometer... 72°.  It's partly cloudy as Ms Sun just crossed over the horizon.  She's dealing with morning cloud cover along the horizon.  Breezes are out of the S-SW at 5-8mph.  Expect a mostly cloudy morning with gradual clearing as today's temps will get up into the low-80s.  Breezes will begin out of the South at 7-10mph, then ramp up from S-SW at 10-17mph +gusting.  Early tonight... mostly clear, temps in the low-70s and breezes out of the N-NE at 10-20mph.  Late tonight... more cloud cover as there's a 30% chance of a passing shower and/or thunderstorm.  Tomorrow... afternoon rain is on the forecast... 30% chance and by the evening... 60% chance.  Friday... we'll probably be feeling the effects of Dorian... tropical storm conditions possible.  We may see heavy rain and winds up to 35mph.  The weekend at this point... looking 5-star.

Mornin'!  It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  The overnight thunderboomers left not a cloud in the morning sky.  We had some major thunder and lightning overnight which gave us a good watering and cleansing.  It's clean and fresh outside with lots of blue sky, sunshine and much lower humidity (81%).  It's a little breezy with winds out of the N-NE at 9-12mph.  It'll be a sunny day of this first of the "off-season" with temps in the mid-upper 70s and breezes out of the E-NE switching to the East at 9-12mph by this afternoon.  Tonight... clear with temps in the upper 60s/low 70s and S-SE breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... basically the same forecast with a bit more clouds in the mix.

Labor Day 2019

Mornin'!  Happy Labor Day!  The vacation and summer season as we know it is over.  The children are all back to school and the Jewel has checked in here at Wildwood.  It's what we call the "off-season" as everyone checks out (at least until the weekends) as the weather provides some stunning displays of its old self.  We'll still have weekend activities and things to do at least until mid-October.  And, hopefully with that spectacular weather.  The island will now be more significantly uninhabited and quiet.  Safe travels to all returning home today!

Well, Hello Ms Jewel!

Mornin'!  Welcome, September!  The "Jewel" has checked in!  For anyone who's never heard of it before, September (for the most part) has the most exquisite weather (aside from tropical storms or hurricanes) and is known here as "The Jewel".  Basically, the warm ocean keeps the island perfectly insulated with warmish,  (not-so-humid or autumn-like) near perfect weather conditions.  You'll find the sky to be such a vivid blue, it astounds you.  The sunrises and sunsets are more breathtaking than any other month.  And, the shoobies and most vacationers are gone as this lovely little island begins to belong to the locals again! No more 6am grocery shopping! 
It's 73° in Wildwood NJ.  It's sunny with breezes out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  Humidity's on the low side at 70% with a dewpoint of 64°.  We're looking at another lovely day down the Shore with mostly sunny skies, temps in the upper 70s and E-NE winds at 12-16mph + gusting (pack those bungees for your beach umbrella).  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the upper 60s with E-SE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny/partly cloudy, temps in the low-70s with a 20-30% chance of showers throughout both the day and evening (just like every Labor Day).  Tuesday's looking 5-Star!  As for hurricane Dorian with its focus on the US coast, we'll be feeling the effects by the end of the week with major rain and winds (probably by Friday).
