It's Halloween - End of Daylight Savings - The Super Moon - Last Day Of October

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  Windchill is 30°... yes there's a windchill this morning with the 10-15mph N-NE winds.  The last time we were in the 30s was the middle of March.  There's a lot happening today.  First off, we've got a "send-off" as it's the last day of October!  It's been a good month... and I'm grateful for it.  No hurricanes (like Superstorm Sandy 8 years ago this week), had a little time away this month for a road trip down South as well as avoided the Corona Virus. It's Halloween... Happy Halloween!  It's normally my favorite holiday but much different this year.  It's a Full Moon and a Super Blue Moon (the 2nd full moon this month) which won't happen for Halloween again for 19 years!  And, this Full Moon will be visible in all the time zones for the first time since 1944.  Now, as for the weather... today's weather will be brisk with plentiful sunshine and a high of 51° with NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, low of 46° and Southerly winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... rain returns unfortunately as we're not quite dried out yet.  This island is saturated and after today's dry-out, we're going to have some steady, soaking rain watering us again tomorrow.  It'll be in the low-60s with S-SW winds at 20-30mph.  Enjoy that sunshine today.  If we're lucky, we'll see that big Blue Moon rise this evening through any clouds that begin filtering in.  Speaking of this evening... don't forget about those clocks as Daylight Savings Time is over beginning tomorrow so hit those clocks before turning in tonight!  Trick or Treat!  And, until next year October... see ya on the other side!

Mostly Gray Friday

Mornin'!  It's a cold 49° in windy, wet Wildwood NJ.  Say that fast 5 times.  It's raining lighter than it has been and windy (North winds at 20-25mph).  Rain's been coming down since yesterday and we're over-watered for sure.  There's a "coastal flood advisory" posted (until 1pm today) as this saturated island along with tomorrow's Full Moon along with the high tides is a perfect formula for those flooded streets and flood-prone areas of ours to fill up.  In fact, the flood sirens are blaring as I type.  By this afternoon though, we should begin seeing the sky clear and the drying out process beginning.  Expect showers early with a high of 53° and North winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Chance of rain is 100%.  This afternoon, skies will begin to clear and we could even seek Ms Sun by sunset.  Tonight... rain's outta here, partly cloudy skies and a low of 37° and time to try out that ol' furnace.  North winds will still be checked in but simmered down to 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... Ms Sun's spending the day in Wildwood!  It'll be cooler than we've been accustomed to with a high of 51° and NE breezes at 10-15mph.  Sunday... Sun's gone and the rain checks back in.

Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood NJ.  Zeta's on the move and heading our way today.  It's currently raining at a good clip with winds out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  Expect periods of heavy rain today (2-4" of rain is possible) with winds out of the SE at 20-30mph +gusting over 40mph.  Temps will get up into the upper 60s.  Tonight... 100% chance of steady rain, low of 52°, winds out of the North at 15-25mph +gusting of 40+mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy, windy (North 25-35mph +gusting) with 80% chance of rain and a high of 55°.  There's a Flood Watch posted for our area as these waves of heavy rain along with the high tides and the Full Moon in 2 days will certainly create flooded roads, small streams/canals/harbors as well as the streets of Wildwood.  Be alert for flood warnings, flood sirens and high tide times.  Move your vehicles to higher ground if need be until the worst is over.  Be prepared to take action.  By tomorrow night, this fast mover should be out of here.  Saturday looks sunny and much cooler.  Sunday looks dry the first half of the day until late afternoon when rain showers return.  Strap in!

Gray Skies Abound

Mornin'!  It's 62° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with breezes out of the S-SW at 10-15mph.  It'll be a rerun of yesterday with mostly cloudy skies, 20% chance of rain showers, high of 69° and W-SW winds ramping up a bit at 10-20mph.  Tonight... 100% chance of rain with a low of 59°.  Breezes will simmer down at 5-10mph out of the SE.  Tomorrow... 100% chance of rain with a potential for heavy rainfall and very windy with Easterlies at 15-25mph +gusting.  1-2" of rain is expected.  Friday... more of the same with even windier conditions... gusting up to 40mph.  Saturday... the sun returns and Sunday the rain returns.  Keep in mind all the rain up ahead will inevitably create tidal/island flooding and even more than usual with this 2nd Full Moon (Blue Moon or Hunter's Moon) this month that's on tap for this weekend (Halloween-Saturday).  Be aware of high tide times and low-lying areas that flood on the island and do whatever it takes not to drive through flood waters or leave you parked car in flood-prone areas.  Oh... I might as well take time to mention since we're on the coming weekend, it's time to turn the clocks back an hour and end daylight savings time bringing back our lost hour of sleep bringing darkness back into our lives much earlier in the day.  We turn the clocks again on March 14th 2021 giving us those longer days and perhaps a feeling of hope and well-being.

50-50 Monday

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under partly clear / partly cloudy conditions.  It seems (according to my webcams) that the heaviest cloud cover is on the west side (marsh side) of the island and along the ocean... much clearer skies with Ms Sun giving all she has to shine through leftover clouds!  Breezes are light out of the E-NE at 7-9mph.  It was raw, wet, cold, and windy yesterday and last night but today's a horse of a different color.  It's bright and almost sunny as I type.   It'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy today with a 20% chance of a shower or two this morning into this afternoon.  Temps will be in the upper 60s with E-NE breezes at 8-11mph.  Tonight... partly clear with temps in the upper 50s and N-NW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... more sunshine than today with a high of 64° and those N-NW breezes still posted in the forecast.  Wednesday night the rains return right through to Saturday morning.

Soggy Gray Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under rain clouds at the moment.  It's raining lightly with winds driving the light rain sideways a bit (N-NE at 15-20mph).  It's still dark as sunrise isn't for about another hour.  What a stark contrast from yesterday morning.  If this type of morning doesn't prompt you to pull the covers up and continue being cozy in your bed, nothing will.  We're going to have a gray, wet, windy Sunday.  Expect gray skies with periods of rain (80% chance) today.  High of 58° with those NE winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Rainfall nearly a ½".  Tonight... 70% chance of precipitation with cloudy conditions and light rain.  Low around 55° and those Nor'easterlies at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... the day begins with damp, chilly conditions (light rain in the early AM) as clouds begin to thin out by mid-day.  There's a slight chance of Ms Sun peeking in then along with temps in the mid-60s and the winds finally simmering down.

Saturday Mix Of Sun And Clouds

Mornin'!  It's 62° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear as Ms Sun just crossed over the horizon making for a beautiful, cloud-free sunrise this morning.  Breezes are light out of the SW at 4-6mph.  It's a perfect, 5-star autumn morning down the Shore.  I still have the majority of windows open allowing the salt air to seep into the house along with noisy, happy birds chirping everywhere outside.  Add to that the aroma of fresh brewed coffee along with a small batch of raisin scones baking and I'd say it couldn't get much better.  Lots to be thankful for this start to the day and weekend.   Expect sunshine with clouds filtering in today as temps just about tap 70°.  Winds will be out of the W-SW initially switching to W-NW later into the evening at 5-10mph. Tonight... mostly cloudy conditions, 20% chance of showers and much cooler temps just tapping 50°.  Tomorrow... chilly, damp and feeling raw with 60% chance of rain, high of 58° and NE winds at 10-20mph.  Enjoy today's weather!

Another Lovely Day But With More Clouds In The Sky

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  What a beautiful morning out there!  It's clear but foggy at the beach (according to the webcams).  No breezes to report as it's still and quiet.  We'll have areas of patchy fog in the morning with a partly sunny / partly cloudy day.  Temps will be around 70° with very light winds out of the E-SE at 2-4mph.  Tonight... 20% chance of precipitation with mostly cloudy skies and temps around 59°.  Breezes will barely be there.  Tomorrow... considerable cloudiness and a high of 66° with East winds at 5-10mph.  The weekend still looks partly cloudy with a chance of showers both Saturday and Sunday nights.

Foggy Start / Partly Cloudy Finish

Mornin'!  I'm home! After traveling in the car for 1,550 miles and spending 4 days with our daughter and her hubby in Georgia, we've made it back safe and sound.  We made every effort and took all the necessary precautions during this time of the pandemic to maintain the safety of our good health and those of others but only time will tell after 14 days home and quarantined to see if we didn't contract this contagious, deadly disease. Apprehensive times for sure. I must note that to my very happy surprise, everywhere I was (rest stops, take-outs, drive-throughs, gas stations, ferry, motels, stores, etc.) everyone and I mean everyone was wearing a mask and keeping a social distance unlike the visitors to Wildwood this Spring, Summer and Fall.  Traveling through Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia was quite amazing to see everyone taking care to wear a mask and keep a safe distance. This southern part of our Country was addressing this Virus like I had yet to witness here in Wildwood the last 6 months and what a relief that was. As for weather, it seems that the weather down South hasn't been far off from our own South Jersey coastal weather (I have been keeping an eye on Wildwood while away) and our weathers have been almost perfectly matched. Even the fog was down South!
It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  We're currently socked in heavy fog.  Breezes are out of the S-SE at 2-3mph and can barely be felt.  It's drippy and wet outside as this heavy cloud that has encased us moved in late last night and has kept us nicely watered.  It'll be foggy and gray most of the morning as the clouds hang around into later this morning / early afternoon.  By then, we'll see peeks of sunshine at least until sunset.  Temps will get into the upper 60s with S-SE breezes at 5-10mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, low around 60° with S-SW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... a mix of clouds and sun, high of 68° and winds light and variable.  It'll look like a mostly sunny stretch at least until Sunday when rain is on the weather map.

Another Beauty

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  It's clear and starlit.  Breezes are out of the S-SW at 12-18mph.  It'll be another lovely autumn day down the Shore with plenty of sunshine, temps in the upper 60s (possibly low 70s) with ramped up breezes out of the S-SW at 15-25mph.  Tonight... mostly clear giving way to cloud cover and occasional rain showers overnight, 60° and S-SW winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow looks like a rainy day (100% chance) with temps around 60° and N-NW winds at 10-20mph.  The weekend's still looking like Saturday begins wet with rain showers turning into a sunny day by lunch time and Sunday looks mostly sunny and in the mid-60s.  So, a small hiatus is ahead as hubby and I are road-tripping to Georgia to pay a long weekend visit to our oldest child and her hubby in less than an hour.  I'll be taking a Wildwood weather break from tomorrow until next Wednesday.  Two days of this little getaway will be on-the-road travel including the Cape May Lewes Ferry and Chesapeake Bay Bridge.  My excitement is mixed with apprehension traveling during the epidemic.  But, every precaution will be taken that's for sure.  It's our first time venturing out since February.   If you need the weather here while I'm on break just click on "Wunderground" on my blog page (last link on the right) and type in either Wildwood NJ or 08260 for the zip and you'll have up to date and very accurate weather.  All the other stuff is there as well... ocean temp, tides, webcams etc.  Stay safe and I'll see you on the other side! Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear skies with breezes out of the NW at 4-6mph.  Ms Sun's on here way any moment now.  It's going to be a nice one today... abundant sunshine with a high of 69° and West winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clear skies, low of 59° and SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... another sunny day with a high of  71° and stiffer winds out of the S-SW at 15-25mph.  The weekend's looking... Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover with no rain coming down (finally).  We've had our share of rain as of late... 2½" according to my friend's rain gauge here on the island.  We got a major watering from what was leftover from Delta.  In fact, humidity's at 94% with a dewpoint of 62° at the moment.  No more rain but we might see some misty, patchy fog early today.  Expect mostly cloud cover until later this afternoon when Ms Sun begins to really dry things up.  Temps will be in the upper 60s, maybe tapping 70° with NW breezes at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy with a low of 60° and NW breezes at 10-15mph.  Keep your eye on the sky as we could have one of those spectacular Fall sunsets this evening.  Tomorrow... Columbus Day Weekend Continues

Mornin'!  Happy Sunday!  It's 66° in Wildwood NJ.  It's hazy and humid this morning... humidity's 91% with a dewpoint of 64°.  Winds are barely there out of the W-SW at 4-6mph.  We just might see Ms Sun get up around the cloud cover along the horizon seems to be breaking up at the moment.  From the sounds of things last night in my neighborhood, many may not be that happy beginning the day today.  My local bar (The Ship N Shore) was rocking with a full house last night and I counted at least 2 house parties not far off both taking place in the backyards.  Columbus Day weekend was jumping into the wee hours in Wildwood.  I hope everyone packed rain gear with their aspirin as we'll be feeling the effect of hurricane Delta which landed on our Gulf Coast earlier this week.  She's moving straight for us as a nasty, relentless rain event.  It'll be that kind of day that looks like it's going to pour at any moment, but expect the skies to open later this afternoon and continue raining until Tuesday morning.  We'll begin today with gray cloud cover and high humidity with 100% chance of sporadic rain showers possibly later this morning becoming steady this afternoon.  Temps will barely tap 70° with W-NW winds shifting from the E-NE at 10-15mph.  Rainfall around a ¼ of an inch.  Tonight... rain, low of 64°, winds ramping up out of the East at 15-25mph +gusting.  Rainfall could amount to over an inch.  Localized flooding is a potential.  Tomorrow... more rain (could be heavy), high of 68°, East winds at 15-25mph.  More flooding possible.  Be aware of the tide times and where you park your vehicle.  Some streets get some serious flooding.  Tuesday... things begin to turn around by late morning.  We could see rain showers in the morning but the sun will be out by mid-day.

Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  Another beautiful start to the day with clear skies welcoming Ms Sun's rise across the horizon (only a few minutes away).  It's now bright along the horizon with some lovely bright yellow hues as I type.  Breezes are light out of the West at 2-4mph.  The marshy aromas are strong outside, birds are chirping everywhere and it's just about perfect outside this morning.  Another lovely autumn day will continue today with blue skies, temps just tapping 70° and SW breezes at 6-9mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy early followed by cloud cover overnight, low around 60° with S-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy with a high of 74° and SW winds at 10-20mph.  Sunday... cloudy with 70-90% chance of rain.

The Autumn Loveliness Continues

Mornin'!  It's 62° in Wildwood NJ.  Breezes are out of the NW at 10-12mph.   It's clear and starlit.  Even the Moon is still partially on display and illuminating over the island.  We still have a couple hours before dawn.  It's one of those very early mornings that waking early was in my forecast.  It'll be yet another beautiful, autumn, sunny day with blue skies and a high of 68°.  Those whipping winds out of the NW at 15-25mph +gusting are back for another round today.  Tonight... clear, low of 52° and N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, upper 60s and West winds at 10-15mph.  For the weekend... Saturday's looking mostly cloudy and windy; Sunday's still looking wet with 70% chance of rain in the forecast.  Hey... we still have today and tomorrow for Ms Sun's warmth!

Mornin'!  It's 62° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a lovely autumn morning down the Shore.  Ms Sun's up in the clear, cloudless morning sky.  Breezes are somewhat light out of the W-SW at 10-15mph.  It'll be a lovely day with sunny skies, high of 76° and winds ramping up big time out of the W-SW at 20-25mph +gusting.  Tonight... clear, low of 58°, W-NW winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... almost the same with sunny skies, stiff breezes out of the NW at 15-25mph and temps in the upper 60s.  At this time, the weekend's looking "eh" with Saturday being the dryer
day with cloudy skies and Sunday being the wet day with rain in the forecast.

Mornin'!  It's 50° in Wildwood NJ.  We're waking to a crisp, clear morning down the Shore.  Ms Sun's up in the blue sky with E-NE breezes at 4-6mph.  Seagulls are laughing and squawking, coffee's brewing and hubby's about to start making Sunday morning breakfast.  It looks like it'll be country sausage, daddy's taters (best home-fries), grits and creamy spinach scrambled eggs on the menu!  Now that I've set the scene, the weather's going to be a little of this and a little of that, but all good.  Expect blue sky and sunshine in the salt air the first half of the day with increasing clouds this later this afternoon.  Temps will be in the upper 60s with E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... considerable cloudiness, low around 55° and N-NE winds at 5-10mph.  There's a 20% chance of rain tonight (into the overnight).  Tomorrow... just the opposite of today as we kick off Monday with considerable cloudiness and by late morning full sunshine with temps in the mid-60s and light off-shore breezes.  I'm off to set the table!  Have a great Sunday!

October Has Arrived - Breast Cancer Awareness Month And The First Full Moon Of The Month!

Mornin'!  Welcome October!  It certainly is kicking off the month with some beautiful jewel-like weather on today's forecast.  Hopefully it'll continue throughout most of this month. It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a lovely morning with Ms Sun on her way, cool air, low humidity (55%) and light breezes out of the N-NW at 4-6mph.  Expect plentiful sunshine today with a high of 72°.  Breezes will be out of the W-SW at 5-10mph.  Tonight... the first of the 2 Full Moons this month.  The second is on Halloween (10-31).  It'll be a bit chilly tonight with partly cloudy skies, temps in the upper 50s / low 60s, E-SE breezes less than 5mph but increasing late into the overnight at 10-20mph.  There's a 20% chance of rain on the overnight as well. Tomorrow... cloudy early, partial sunshine late, high of 65° and windy (N-NW winds at 10-20mph).  The weekend's looking okay with Saturday being the nicer of the two days... sunny and high of 65° and Sunday... just about the same with some sporadic cloud cover.  It's breast cancer awareness month.  Be aware and take care and schedule that Mammo!
