Mornin'! It's 75° in Wildwood NJ. Humidity's 97% with a dewpoint of 72°. Did you know that any dewpoint over 60 is very uncomfortable as the air is very heavy and filled with moisture. We've been having some heavy air mornings and evenings as of late that's for sure. Unlike yesterday morning, we're under clear, starlit skies with hardly a breeze out of the East at 2-3mph. I'm not saying that it won't get foggy this morning as a couple of the forecasts I've checked mention fog rolling in before Ms Sun begins shining down today. But so far... no fog. As for today and this week's weather and as we close out August and the summer season, it'll be a nice, warm, humid, sunny day with temps in the mid-upper 80s with E-SE breezes at 5-10mph. Tonight... partly clear with temps in the low-mid 70s and Southerly breezes at 5-10mph. Tomorrow... same as today... partly sunny, temps in the mid-upper 80s and Southerly breezes. Wednesday... the same. Thursday... the same. And, Friday... the same. Good for you if you picked this week for vacationing in Wildwood!
It's the beginning of peak hurricane season. Today marks 17 years since Hurricane Katrina (category 5) destroyed New Orleans and tomorrow marks 5 years that Hurricane Irma (category 5) to hit Puerto Rico, Florida and the Florida Keys. There's currently nothing to be overly concerned about but the Atlantic is becoming a bit active and has been percolating (their words; not mine). We've bypassed the first 3 hurricanes names so far this year (Alex, Bonnie and Colin) as they never materialized. Seems the next one is named Danielle. It's probably a good time to make sure there's a plan in place or at least a check list in case a hurricane begins a trek in our direction. It's not a bad idea to get that preparedness kit and paperwork in order (food, water, medicine, power sources, safety and personal items, will, passports, personal ppwk, identification etc). It's all on the Internet. Happy Monday!
