Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up along with some light clouds right along the horizon with light breezes out of the South at 10-15mph.  It'll be a partly sunny start to the day with clouds filtering in as this afternoon is looking overcast.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with South winds picking up at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tonight... light rain turns to a steady rain with temps around 50° and Southerly winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Chance of rain is 100%.  The New Moon is tomorrow and causes those high tides to be much higher than normal.  We could see coastal flooding on the island so be aware of those high tide times and remember that the backside of the island (the marsh side) has high tide one hour later than the ocean side.  As for tomorrow's weather... morning clouds give way to a mainly sunny day with temps in the mid-50s and W-SW winds at 10-20mph.  And, as for New Year's day... partly sunny, windy with winds out of the West at 20-30mph with temps in the upper 40s.

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly.  We've got those heavy rain clouds all around us.  They're not only opening up and watering Wildwood, but they're insulating the sounds outside as the ocean's roar is loud and clear.  Expect rain showers this morning, then becoming just cloudy with rain showers starting again by later this afternoon... 90% chance.  Temps will be in the low-50s with S-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... 40% chance of rain, cloudy into the overnight, temps in the upper 40s and Southerly winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy with peeks of sun, temps in the upper 50s and South winds ramping up at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tomorrow night... we could see rain returning with 40% chance, temps in the mid-50s and S-SE winds at 20-25mph.  Monday... looks nice with sunshine, temps in the low-50s and West winds at 10-12mph. Mornin'!  Welcome Winter... the shortest day of the year!  It's 33° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 23° with the NW winds at 20-25mph +gusting.  Ms Sun's up and making her way through some cloud cover.  She'll be doing that throughout the day as it'll be partly clear and sunny / and a partly cloudy today.  Temps will be in the mid-30s with NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting making it feel like 20° and by tonight... 14°.  Tonight will be clear and starlit with temps in the upper teens and N-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, temps around 30° with N-NW winds at 10-20mph making it feel like 18°.  Tomorrow night... clear with temps in the low-20s feeling the 14° with North winds at 5-10mph.  It couldn't be more perfect start to the Winter season and the first day of Winter.  Days will now begin to grow longer beginning tomorrow until June of 2025... the longest day of the year.  Hope Old Man Winter is kind to us like he's been the last couple years!

Last Day Of Autumn

Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with winds out of the NE at 10-15mph this last day of Fall.  It actually felt mild when I stepped outside first thing this morning.  The clouds are thick and insulating all the island sounds.  Living 6+ blocks from the ocean, my ears immediately perk up when I can hear the ocean's waves crashing loudly.  The clouds and wind direction do that.  The roar is very loud and clear today.  I'll never forget the first time that happened to me and I actually thought it was roaring traffic that I was hearing.  There's no roaring traffic here (the speed limit is 25mph).  I knew immediately that would be impossible and just as quickly knew it was the ocean's roar.  The salty briny is strong this morning as well.  And, everything about those things is why I love living here.  I'll never take it for granted.  It's looking like a raw, windy, and possibly wet day here on the island.  A "soup making" day no doubt.  Today's soup is Italian Wedding soup.  And, perhaps baking a batch or two of Christmas cookies.  I made some cookie dough yesterday which includes Chocolate Chip, Coconut Macaroons, Almond Crescents and Gingerbread.

Mornin'!  It's 57° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining at a good clip along with Southerly winds at 20-25mph +gusting.  If there ever was a reason to stay in bed... this morning's weather is #1.  Ugh... it's perfectly miserable out there.  Perhaps it's a good day to bake those Christmas cookies or write out those holiday cards.  If your outdoor decs are up, you might want to check on how secure everything is out there.  Parka with hood up is strongly suggested.  I should also remind you of flooding on the island as we're only 4 days away from the Full Moon and the fuller the moon, the higher the tides during those high tide times.  The backside of the island has high tide an hour later than the ocean side.  Be aware of the possibility of tidal flooding on the island and do what it takes not to drive through any flood waters.  Also, know your high tide times and the island's low-lying areas that are prone to flooding.

Sunny Humpday

Mornin'!  I'm back!  The last time I did a blog entry was on Thanksgiving morning and it was 57° in Wildwood. 
This morning it's 29° in Wildwood!   Winter's doing more than peeking in as its already got one foot in the door.  We're now only 17 days away from the Winter Solstice.  The current conditions here are clear skies, barely any winds (out of the W-NW at 2-3mph with no windchill).  That'll change though.  We'll start out today with a clear, sunny, calm morning and by afternoon around mid-day, it'll become partly sunny and blustery with winds out of the SW at 20-30mph +gusting.  Today's temperature will be around 45°.   Tonight... overcast and windy with S-SW winds at 25-35mph +gusting, temps in the low-40s feeling like the low-30s along with a 25% chance of precipitation.  Tomorrow... chance of morning shower (25% chance), still very windy with West winds at 25-40mph, and temps in the mid-40s.  Tomorrow night... strong winds continue out of the W-NW at 25-35mph +gusting, temps in the low-30s feeling like the low-20s with the windchill.  As for this coming weekend... a very nice one with plentiful sunshine both Saturday and Sunday and temps in the mid-upper 40s and not near as windy as we're about to have today and tomorrow and Friday with Sunday possibly coming in around 50°!  Being near Pottsville PA for my extra long Thanksgiving weekend, I got a nice taste of Winter.  It was in the teens every morning.  It's always good to be home!

Full "Beaver" Moon Friday

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  The weather chart says it feels like 42° with the N-NE breezes at 10-15mph.  It's cloudy as Ms Sun begins her Full Moon Friday.  She's behind the clouds at the moment.  She's actually peeking under them at the horizon line as I blog.  She's due up in just about 10 minutes.  Since we're under cloud cover, there's a 40% chance of rain this morning.  By this afternoon... sunshine and blue skies and on the windy side.  Temps will go up into the mid-upper 50s with N-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... clear, temps back to where they are now... mid-upper 40s with NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, temps in the low-mid 60s and very blustery with NW winds at 15-25mph.  Sunday... partly to mostly sunny, temps in the upper 50s and W-NW winds at 5-10mph.  It's the Full Moon today.  Tides are much higher than normal and we could see that salt water seeping into the streets again.  Do your best to not drive through it.  We did have some very minor coastal flooding yesterday along the curbs in some of the streets as that water somehow finds its way up onto the island.  That Full Moon is just the push it needs.  Hopefully, we'll see some rain as we're in a serious "extreme" drought crisis.  And, if we do have clear skies tonight... that ol' Moon rise is always amazing to witness along the ocean on the eastern horizon.

Mornin'!  It's 44° in Wildwood NJ.  There are a few things going on this morning.  First, it's a bit on the cloudy side.  Ms Sun is painting the sky as she tries to rise and shine but the clouds are in the way and making things interesting with beautiful colors mixed with dark, gray clouds.  Secondly, it's high tide on the bay side and my surrounding streets along the curbs are on the floody-side.  High tide was actually an hour ago on the ocean side of the island but the bay side is always an hour later.  Tomorrow's Full Moon is creating this scene there's no doubt as we're still in a serious drought situation with no measurable rain for over a month.  The Northeast winds are light at 9-12mph.  
We're going to have a generally cloudy day with temps in the mid-50s and E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... cloudy with 40% chance of rain showers, temps in the upper 40s and E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy in the morning, sunny by the afternoon, temps in the upper 50s and N-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow night... clear, temps around 50° and NW winds at 10-15mph.  Saturday... sunny, temps around 60° with NW winds at 10-20mph.  Saturday night... clear, temps in the upper 40s / low 50s with N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Sunday... partly to mostly sunny, temps around 60° with W-NW to W-SW winds at 5-10mph. Sunday night... cloudy, temps in the low-50s and light winds.

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's just crossing the horizon and winds are out of the N-NE at 10-15mph making it feel like 29°!  We've got that wintry feel and a nice windchill this morning along with that frost on the pumpkin. Brrrrr.  It'll develop into a lovely autumn day down the Shore today with plentiful sunshine, temps in the low-mid 50s and still blustery (like yesterday) with 10-20mph winds out of the N-NE.  Tonight... partly clear, becoming cloudy overnight with temps in the low-40s and NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... a cloudy day, temps in the mid-50s and E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow night... cloudy, temps around 50° with Easterly wind at 10-15mph.  As for this coming weekend... Saturday... sunny, temps around 60° with NW breezes at 10-15mph.  And, Sunday... mostly sunny, temps around 60° and W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Just a reminder... the Full "Beaver" Moon is Friday.  Around 4:22PM on Friday afternoon, you'll be able to see it cross over the horizon out of the East.  And, in case you're interested, the moon rises at 3:16PM today.

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's just crossing the horizon and she'll do so without any cloud interference.  It's windy this morning with loads of water rippling on the harbor and trees swaying on the island... N-NW at 20-25mph +gusting.  It'll be a sunny and windy day with temps in the upper 50s and N-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... clear, temps dropping into the upper 30s and North winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, temps in the low-mid 50s and N-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow night... mostly clear, temps around 45° and NE winds at 10-15mph.
