Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear and starlit and barely a breeze is wifting (I mean wafting) across the island this early morn.  It'll stay somewhat clear today with sun filtering in through clouds that will be checked in but most forecasts I've checked say "partly sunny"yet some say "overcast".  Breezes will be out of the NW at 15-20mph as temps stay where they are...mid-upper 40s.  Tonight...temps will drop as WW stays in the clear.  Looks like much of the same for the last day of the year tomorrow as a New Moon will be welcoming in the New Year.

Gray & Rainy Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 45° and raining in Wildwood.  Sun's over the horizon but we'll never get to see it today.  It'll be raining all day and night this last Sunday of 2013.  Ms. Sun returns tomorrow for a few days.  Today though...crapola.  At the moment there's no breeze but by early-mid afternoon we're talking major ramp up.  They winds will be the star attraction today.  They'll begin from the East at 15-20mph and shift to the E-SE and by 2-3pm...shift again S-SW coming in at 20-30mph with 50mph gusts.  Looks like one miserable day.  Temps will be on the mild side staying in the low-mid 50's (one forecast said we may see 60°).  It's a day to relax indoors as 2013 fades away.

Last Weekend of 2013!

Mornin'!  It's 38° in sunny Wildwood.  It's already a lovely Saturday as the sky is vivid blue as the sun shines brightly and will shine all day.  There's hardly a breeze and the fragrance of the sea is in the holiday air.  Temps will reach the mid-upper 40s today as breezes wift (I mean waft) in later from the SW at 17-20mph. Enjoy as it'll all changing tomorrow.  Temps will be higher but winds and rain will be center stage.  Oh...tonight around 5:35-5:45p.m. the International Space Station will be drifting right over the coast first appearing from the Northwest and gliding low and perfectly visible heading Northeast.  I was fortunate in the summer to see this amazing fly-over and it was extraordinary.

Last Friday of 2013

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood.  Although a bit on the cold side, it's beautiful out there.  The sky is perfectly clear with the moon and stars completely visible and lit up like a Christmas tree.  No breezes so it's very quiet and still with just a light note of sea in the air.  It'll be a pleasant day at the shore as temps reach the low-mid 40's while the sun pours down all day (due to rise in an hour). Breezes will begin later from the W-NW and shift from the West then shift again by late this afternoon from the W-SW all at 13-16mph.  Tomorrow's looking even better as the temperature will be in the mid-50s!  TGIF!

Joyous Kwanzaa!

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Wildwood.  The island's currently under partially cloudy skies.  The moon and the stars were visible through the breaks in the clouds even in the early morning darkness.  Not much in the breeze department.  It looks like a somewhat nice one as the sun's supposed to make her presence known in just over an hour (if the clouds stay the way they are, it'll make for a beautiful sunrise) and stick around all day making for a mix of cloudy and sunny day ahead. It'll be calm as the breezes are drifting in from the W-SW and will shift to just the West all at 5-10mph. It's the beginning of Kwanzaa today and was established as a means to help African Americans reconnect with their African cultural and historical heritage by uniting in meditation and study of African traditions and Nguzu Saba, the "seven principles of African Heritage".  It begins today through Jan 1st.  Oh...it's also Boxing Day celebrated on December 26, the day after Christmas, and is celebrated in Great Britain and in most areas settled by the English (the U.S. is the major exception), including Canada, Australia, and New Zealand..  Whatever the day, it'll be a decent day to try out that new Christmas bicycle!

Mornin'!  It's 38° in WW.  The sky is just slightly cloud covered as there are stars shining in spots while some heavy, thick clouds are hanging on.  That 3 day storm system is hovering off the coast and headed out to sea.  The sun is due over the horizon in about a ½ hour (not sure if we'll see it though).  Temps are a bit more on the normal side this early morn.  There's a light breeze coming out of the North at 8-10mph.  It'll be partly to mostly sunny today with temperatures in the low-mid 40s.  Breezes will ramp up a bit from the N-NW at 18-20mph a little later probably providing a chill factor.  Looks like tonight will be a perfect night for Santa's sleigh ride and arrival to Wildwood (or a soak in the hot tub)!

Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood.  It's gray and raining lightly with not much in the line of breezes at the moment.  No sunrise today.  It'll be raining all day (100% chance) as winds begin blowing in from the SW at 12-15mph and shifting by late this afternoon from the NW at 20-30mph.  Temps will hover around the mid-50's and drop down into the low 40's tonight.  Rain will be sticking around all day, tonight, overnight and tomorrow morning and could be heavy at times bringing 1"-2" as it could be a "wellie" day.  Better "wellie" than "snow boots"!

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood.  It's windy (SW/30-35mph w/gusting), foggy and drippy.  It's not one of those quiet, serene mornings as it's noisy outside with the winds howling and the ocean roaring under the thick cloud cover. Some of my house windows are cracked to let the fresh so-called winter air in.  The Gulls are laughing somewhere in the neighborhood and seem in the holiday spirit.   It hasn't rained but everything's wet and dripping thanks to the heavy fog.  I've checked four different weather sites and everyone had something slightly different so it's one of those days I'm winging it.  For the most part...a rainy forecast is unanimous beginning early this evening (90% chance) and continue throughout tomorrow (rain could get heavy at times overnight). It'll stay mild as temperatures look like they'll reach the mid-upper 60s today.  Breezes will slow down a bit (28-25mph from the SW) coming from the same direction as this storm system continues to barrel down focused on the Coast.  Peeks of sun are possible today (morning/early afternoon) before the rains check in later.  Still is weird winter weather for our area this close to Christmas!

Mornin'!  Happy Winter!  It's 49° this first day of Winter the shortest day of the year.  Beginning today the days begin to grow longer each and every day!  Love it.  It'll be Autumn-like as temps just may tap 60°s today...no typo.  At moment the sun's up over the horizon and trying to shine through a mix of clouds.  There will be both clouds and sun today as breezes blow in from the SW at 15-20mph.  No precipitation in the forecast yet...it's coming though...tomorrow and Monday...rain.  Enjoy today this lovely first day Winter.

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood.  The island's under clear, moonlit and starlit skies with not much in breezes.  It's the last day of Autumn as clouds are due to check in for a few days.  Not only are clouds headed our way, but mild temps are tagging along.  It'll be mostly cloudy today with temps reaching the mid-upper 50's again as a warming trend is escorting the Winter Solstice.  It'll be even warmer tomorrow for the first day of Winter (the shortest day of the year).  A Southwest breeze will wift (I mean waft) in later at 10-15mph with some minor gusting.  Until next year's Irish Fest...so long Autumn!

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood.  The sky is clear.  The stars and nearly full moon are shining brightly.  There's no breeze to report.  It's a lovely cold, crisp morning down the shore and still officially autumn.  The sun's due up in an hour and it'll be warming up a bit as temps just might tap 50° today.  That's not a typo.  It'll be mostly sunny with a stiff breeze wifting (I mean wafting) in a little later from the SW at 17-21mph.  It's looking like a very mild day as well as weekend up ahead as temps are supposed to soar into the 60's and some say a possibility of tapping 70°!  What?

Autumn's losing the battle

Mornin'!  It's 28° this windy, crisp, clear, moonlit and starlit early morn.  Sun's not due up for at least another hour.  It's cold outside...wind chill is 18°.  Oh...I might as well add that Wildwood got a dusting of the white stuff during the night.  Well...the porch, grass, vehicles and the like are white.  The snow somehow missed the streets and sidewalks.  Winds are out of the W-NW at 22-27mph creating a nasty chill.  They'll calm down a bit today as it'll be sunny but breezy today with temps in the upper 30s (still feeling like the 20s due to that creepy chill factor sticking around). On a positive note...temps will be getting up into the 50s tomorrow and even higher this weekend.  Sneak peek of Spring perhaps at the commencement of Winter this weekend?  Weird.

Another Clipper in the mix

Mornin'!  It's 36° in Wildwood.  It's breezy (S-SE at 20-26mph) this cloud covered, cold morn on the island.  That ol' cloud insulator is providing some loud and clear surf sounds. There's moisture in the air as a fast moving weak clipper could clip the coast as it heads North.  We should begin seeing flurries and/or rain showers coming down any moment now.  Our local weatherman is saying if we get any accumulation of the white stuff (as it could very well be another rain event) it'll be a ½" or just a dusting.  Most likely it'll be another wintry mix event like the other two (60% chance) as the temps will hang around the 40s.  There's a chance of peeks of sun as well today.  The winds switch it up and turn around wifting (I mean wafting) in from the SW at 21-27mph until things settle down by dinner time.  We just might see that Full (Cold) Moon tonight.  Com'on Winter...4 more days!

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood.  It's crisp and clear this early morn. There's hardly a breeze as the bright moon and sky full of stars are about ready to take their bow.  Ms. Sun will be the star of the show today as she'll be rising in about an hour and keep it mostly sunny.  Breezes will coming from the NW at 18-20 mph today.  Temperatures will stay in the vicinity of where they are now give or take a degree but will drop back into the 20s tonight.  There's a possibility of snow showers tonight.  The Full "Cold" Moon is tomorrow.  Five more days until the Winter Solstice.  I say bring it on as once the Solstice enters the scene...the days begin to grow longer!

Mornin'!  It's 38° this early Sunday morn.  It's still dark outside as the sun's due to cross the horizon in about an hour.  Not sure how much we'll see as it's raining lightly with thick cloud cover o'er the island at the moment.  The sounds and aromas of the surf is predominate though as you step outside.  The breezes are wifting (I mean wafting) over us at 12-14mph from the W-NW.   As the breezes kick up later this morning, temps are supposed to rise into the mid-40s pushing the rain clouds out making way for peeks of sun today.  So, it looks like a partly sunny/partly cloudy kinda day.  6 days until Winter!

Mornin'!  It's 36° in Wildwood.  It's gray and overcast with a strong fragrance of the sea wifting (I mean wafting) over the island.  There's a light breeze out of the SE which will be picking up a bit later at 17-20mph.  Snow showers and a wintry mix are forecasted to begin later this morning and then by later this afternoon will turn to rain.  Temps will get up into the low-mid 40s.  The raw, cold, wetness will continue into tonight.  Once again, there's snow and ice all around us but looks like we'll have no accumulation.  Whew...wiping my brow again!

Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood this early  morn and guess what...it's gonna stay 33° all day until this evening when we hit a balmy 26°!  Winter's in 8 days but you'd never know it.  It'll be sunny most of the day today with winds initially out of the W-NW at 20-25mph and easing up and shifting just slightly by later this afternoon from the NW at 10-15mph.   By midnight the clouds will be increasing as rains and possibly a wintry mix is due in tomorrow.  Two words...layer up.

Freezing cold in Paradise

Mornin'!  It's a brisk 28° in Wildwood this morning.  The sky is clear and starlit.  There's a light breeze making it feel as cold as ice..."Looks like trouble in Paradise" in the words of Al Jarreau.  It's gonna be a "layer up" kinda day as the temps will barely tap the 30s.  Here's the kicker...winds will pick up out of the NW at 21-25mph causing a major chill factor (it'll feel like the teens) and Ms. Sun and Cloud cover will be battling it out today.  She's due up in less than an hour from now.  Oh...there's a thin glaze of ice on the harbor this morning too. Tonight...clear and back into the low-20s.  Jeez...where is Key West when you need it?

Mornin'!  It's 32° in Wildwood.  Talk about crisp!  It's cold, clear, starlit and wintry even though it's still considered Autumn.  It'll be cold today with temps in the mid-30's as Ms. Sun returns.  Breezes will be creating a chill factor as they'll be out of the W-NW at 15-20mph all day long as sun or no sun, today will have a bite to it.  Tonight...back into the 20s while those winds settle down a bit.  Once again we're without snow.  Yesterday the surrounding areas got another couple inches of snow as our stormy weather was a rain event.  At one point around lunch time, big white flakes began hammering the coast for a ½ hour or so, but melted on impact.  Thank goodness.

SNOW

Mornin'!  It's 36° in WW.  It's cloudy, very still and quiet as the sounds of the surf can be heard in the darkness.  That cloud insulator and crisp chill certainly feels like there's moisture surrounding us although we're dry.  Looks like I'm going to be forced to use the "S" word today as snow is predicted for the shore as the temps will be dropping into the low-30s and the Northwest/North winds will be bringing a fast moving clipper and 1-3" of Snow are predicted on the island (100% chance).  There's talk of a wintry mix and turning to rain by tonight but I'm thinking it could be nasty and maybe some dangerous conditions out there today.  Winds are nothing to write about at the moment but will ramp up later this morning (20+mph) and by late afternoon be 30-35mph.  It's definitely going to be the first day for the shovel and scraper. The Sun is due back tomorrow!  Don't get too excited though as another Snowstorm could be in our path this weekend.  Just saying.

Still Only Rain

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood.  12 days until Winter.  It's raining and raw.  It's been raining heavy all night.  Being a Philly Girl (some say "transplant") and following the surrounding weather so I can blog the differences...here is a prime example.  Philadelphia got 8.5" of snow yesterday and Newark Delaware got 12" of the white stuff (both about 2 hours away).  Wildwood received none.  We had a mix of snow and rain and even some freezing rain but no snow.  The temps thankfully rose near 50° overnight so no ice formed on the island.  It'll be a wet one most of the day as the rains continue.  Temps will remain in the mid-upper 40's and some forecasts say low 50s.  Winds will commence this morning first from the South at 10-15mph; then shift from the W-SW at 20-25mph.  Tomorrow...it all continues but with colder temps increasing the possibility of snow here.  We'll just have to wait and see.  The shovels and scrapers are still waiting to be used here at the Shore.  Oh...remember the Sun? It's due to check in Wednesday.

Wintry Mix this end of Autumn

Mornin'!  It's 31° in balmy Wildwood.  It's not only beginning to look a lot like Christmas, but really feels like winter this morning.  It's gray, cold, breezy and raw.  You can feel the moisture in the air yet nothing's coming down.  It'll be a wet one today (80%) chance of precipitation as rain and a snow mix is due in later this morning.  It could possibly turn to sleet sometime this afternoon and by nightfall...back to rain (thankfully) as temps will start out in the low-mid 30s, but will creep back up into the mid-upper 40s this afternoon and by tonight...low 50s.  Winds will begin out of the N-NE at 15-18mph and shift in the late afternoon from the East at 18-24mph.  Looks like we won't see the Sun for awhile or at least until Wednesday according to all the forecasts I've checked.  So, get ready for some more gray gloomies and grab another log for the fire!

A Day That Will Live In Infamy

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood.  It's the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor today. It's cold and raw, still wet outside, overcast, and a bit breezy as the first storm departs.  The sky is beginning to lighten as the sunrise is due in less than a half hour.  I'm not so sure we'll see it as it's mostly cloudy at the moment.  It'll be partly sunny/partly cloudy today with temps hitting the low-40s with breezes out of the N-NW at 10-15mph.  The Elks Bonfire is tonight and everything looks like it will go as scheduled (7pm at 1st & Surf beach).  I'm still shaking my head in disbelief that the Bonfire isn't hampered by the fact that it's sandwiched between 2 storms (tomorrow...100% chance of rain/freezing rain/snow) and will go on as normal.  Tonight the temps will drop back into the mid 30s with breezes out of the North (chill factor...28°) at 10-15mph.  Two words...thermal underwear!

The Grays Stay

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood under cloud cover.  There is clearing and bright sky here and there as dawn approaches.  No breezes to mention as it's a mild autumn morning.  A cold front is approaching later today bringing with it rain and breezes (N-NE 10-15mph).  Temps will drop into the 30s tonight. Best chance of those light showers will be later this afternoon/early evening and continue throughout the overnight into the early morning.  All forecasts I've checked are saying that these two rain systems approaching (today and Sunday) will take a break just in time for tomorrow night's Christmas Beach Bonfire.  That's amazing to me that we'll be that lucky and I'll continue to check on that.  For today...gray.

Mornin'!  It's 49° with dense fog seeping down on the island.  I can't see across the street that's how dense.  Love it.  All you can hear outside is the roar of the ocean and every tree branch and home dripping. It almost sounds like its raining out.   It'll be a gray one today but the fog's supposed to lift.  Today...cloudy and mild with temps tapping the 60° mark.  We could see showers today (20% chance) as they may check back in tonight as well as the overnight (50% chance).   By the looks of most forecasts I've check, it's possible we may not see Ms. Sun until the middle of next week!  No breezes at the moment but they're on their way later from the S-SW at 15-20mph. By the way...these mild temps aren't going to last long!

Mornin'!  It's 45° under cloudy skies this early morn.  It's quiet and still and once again the sound of the surf crashing can be heard in the distance (6 blocks away).  Today's forecast could be a "cut and paste" from yesterday.  Ms. Sun is due up in about an hour but the clouds won't give way to her until a little later this morning as we'll have a partly sunny one today.  They'll check back in later this afternoon as the temps climb into the mid-upper 50s.  Breezes will be light from the S-SW at 7-9mph.  Decent day for pre-Winter (17 days away).

Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood.  It's dark and cold.  No clouds in the clear, starlit sky.  No breezes blowing over the island.  It's quiet with the far off sound of the surf.  Forecast for today is a mostly sunny day up ahead with some clouds rolling in later and temps tapping 50° again as breezes will be light off the coast (E-NE) at 6-7mph.  After 4 days off from work, it's already a challenge being awake and focused for the start of another
work week...yuk.

Mornin'!  It's 37° this sunny Sunday and 1st of December.  Happy December!  The sky is bright blue without a cloud to be seen.  The Gulls seem extremely happy about that as their laughter is spreading throughout the neighborhood.  It'll be mostly sunny all day with temps getting back into the mid-upper 40s again.  Winds will be light breezes out of the West at 5-8mph.  It's a lovely sunny Sunday and who knows how many December Sundays (5 of them) will be this nice!
