Wrapping up November...until we meet again!

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  Once again we're under cloud cover with dampness, mist and fog encasing the island.  No rain coming down at the moment but we're supposed to get rain showers today again (100% chance).  We might see some heavy downpours and even hear the sound of thunder as two of the forecasts I checked mentioned rain with thunderstorms possibly in the mix.  It'll be a rainy, misty, breezy day with winds out of the South at 15-25mph.  Temps should tap 60° again but it'll still feel windy, wet and raw and needless to say a bit on the miserable side.  Hey, I'm not complaining as those higher temps are an appreciated weather-gift.  The average temperature in Wildwood this time of year is in the upper 40s.  Imagine if they were 30° colder...we'd be feeling Ol' Man Winter chilling us big time and even forcing us to dig those snow shovels out of storage. Tonight...80% chance of rain with temps back down into the low 50s and breezes out of the SW at 20-30mph.  Again...there's that possibility of a rumble of thunder.  Tomorrow...Ms Sun's due back.  See you next year November...it's been a pleasure!

Gloomy Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  The island's covered with clouds and breezes are out of the South at 15-20mph.  The pounding surf is loud and clear in the early morning darkness.  No rain or major winds yet, but they're coming.  It'll be a cloudy, gray, wet one today with 100% chance of rain showers and winds out of the South at 20-25mph (35mph+gusts).  Temps will believe it or not get up into the 60s.  Tonight...more of the same...rain, winds and milder than normal temps...low-mid 50s.  Tomorrow's looking like much the same...wet, windy and milder temps!  We'll probably not see Ms Sun again until Thursday. Oh...it's the New Moon don't forget...could affect the high tidal flooding times. There's another beach bonfire this weekend and so far it looks like the weather's cooperating!

Mornin'!  It's 36° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear, starlit skies as Ms Sun waits for her grand "rise and shine" entrance.  It'll be mostly sunny today with temps in the low 50s.  No breezes to note now but they're on their way and should be checking in later this afternoon. They'll be coming from the South around noon at 11-15mph and will ramp up by tonight from the S-SE at 20-30mph bringing with them clouds and the possibility of rain (30% chance). The rains will definitely be checked in for tomorrow and Wednesday while those continued wicked winds whisper and moan, it'll all be making for a couple miserable days ahead.  There's a "New Moon" tomorrow too so the tides will be affected by creating tidal flooding you can be sure.

Grayish Black Friday

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  The blog's a little late with the "day off sleep-in" and for that I'm thankful...keeping that "thankfulness" vibe going for each and every day of the year.  It's nice outside.  It's quiet and still (no breezes to note) with cloud cover so the island's insulated and allowing the ocean's crashing waves to be heard on my back porch (6+ blocks away) loud and clear...very cool.  It almost sounds like a highway roaring with traffic in the distance.  Anyway...we've got a cloudy, still one on tap today.  There's a 20% chance of rain showers today and 40% chance tonight.  Temps should be hovering in the low-mid 50s with hardly a breeze.  Great day to be out and about.  Yesterday I enjoyed a nice walk on the boards and only wore a hoodie.  Tonight's temps will head back down into the mid-40s with breezes out of the North at 10-15mph.  The weekend's looking sunny and in the 50s with breezes making their presence known.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Mornin'!  Happy Thanksgiving!  Many blessings to reflect on as we are thankful for the gifts life has to offer.  Some of us may be feeling how fragile life at this time and perhaps suffering a loss as their heart is breaking. Somehow blessings abound and we find ourselves being focused and thankful for the gifts we do have especially today as we once again celebrate this holiday. I'm grateful for many things.  One is that this week I received the results of a recent mammogram which reported..."no cancer". Two is that my oldest daughter received that same news after her results came back!  After experiencing breast cancer a few years back I'm always apprehensive while waiting for the news of results.  Especially after having a brand new state of the art 3-D mammo which detects the smallest and most initial (over a year) findings. Kind of scary but I'm clean!  No cancer detected! Thank you! Oh...I'm also thankful for my life partner and best friend...my hubby.  Met him when I was a young teenager as my life took a wonderful turn after feeling his spirit. I'm still in love with him (a miracle which I'm so thankful for) after 50 years.  I'm grateful for my children and grandson especially after losing a son at 3 months old many years ago as well as almost losing my daughter when she was 5 years old. I'm grateful for my son who was born a year and a ½ after our baby passed.  I'm grateful for my little dog.  I'm grateful for life at the seashore.  I'm grateful that my hands work and are able to type this not to mention put a pretty delicious Thanksgiving meal on the table. That wraps it up.  Happy Thanksgiving to all my readers and followers!

Mornin'!  Happy "Travel Day" and safe travels for all those moving about our country today!  It'll be a decent day for it...here anyway.  It's 36° in Wildwood NJ.  There's a light NW breeze at 10-12 mph (those pesky winds have checked out for a bit (at least until this weekend).  The sky is clear and star lit but they're fading fast as Ms Sun's approaching the horizon for her grand entrance.  It'll be crisp and cold today but with sunshine all day as temps get up into the upper 40's and maybe even tapping 50°.  Tonight...clear with W-NW breezes at 9-11mph and temps in the upper 30s / low 40s.  Thanksgiving is looking cloudy with a slight chance of rain in the afternoon as temps climb up into the mid-50s.  The weekend's looking mostly sunny with temps in the 50s but those NW winds will be back to rearrange our hairstyles!

Another Windy Day

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ. Those pesky W-NW winds are still checked in with 30+ mph gusts. They're supposed to simmer down some by tonight and into tomorrow.  It's currently cloudy and feeling very wintry out there again with some chill factor going on. Winter's becoming a bit pushy. Upstate New York is less than 300 miles away and they're having winter big time...2 feet of the white stuff already! I'm happy to report nothing like that for us.  We will see peeks of Ms Sun again today along with that wind driven cloud cover as temps get into the mid-upper 40s.  Winds are here all day and night out of the W-NW at 25-35mph.  Tonight...some cloud cover still in the mix and temps in the upper 30s with winds out of the NW at 15-25mph.  Thanksgiving is still looking cloudy now with a 40% chance of rain showers and temps in the mid 50s.  Same for Friday.

Blustery Monday (Winds Advisories Still Posted)

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ (feels like 28° with the winds).  It's partly cloudy with winds out of the W-NW at 33-38mph w/gusting of up to 45mph.  These intense, howling NW winds have been checked in since Saturday night and aren't checking out until early Wednesday. They're brutal.  It feels like Ol' Man Winter is on the mainland somewhere blowing his hard-to-take freezin' season over our island right out to sea. It's certainly a sneak peak of what's ahead for the next few months.  It'll be windy again today (W-NW at 33-38mph w/gusting) as the clouds allow Ms Sun to peek through every so often while temps get into the mid-40s. Hopefully she'll provide some warmth today (finally bit the bullet and turned my furnace on last night as the weekend winds brought quite a chill into my home). Tonight...cloudy with the same NW winds hanging out as temps drop back to where they are now...mid-upper 30s.  Thanksgiving won't be as windy but so far all forecasts are saying cloudy with temps in the upper 50s.

Wind Advisories Posted

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  My have things changed in the weather department.  We have a "wind advisory" posted until almost Wednesday as winds have been howling over the island from the West at 25-35mph sustained with 50mph gusts!  It's been very noisy outside all throughout the night and this morning.  My little pooch has been unsettled to say the least for the last 12 hours. I think a little chihuahua must fear being swept up and blown out to sea with these bad boy winds.  Oh, add this morning's temps and those intense winds and we've got quite a brisk, cold, wintry morning down the shore  with a chill factor of 38°. There's some cloud cover which is moving quickly and allowing for the twinkling stars to sparkle here and there and I expect a lovely sunrise.  We're expecting the sun to shine today.  Those winds (N-NW 35-45mph +gusting) with temps in the mid-upper 40s will = a chill factor (30+ degrees throughout the day). By tonight...the clouds will blow back over us bringing with it the change of rain showers and/or get this..."snow" flurries.  Jeez...I hated typing the "s" word but it is what it is...just reporting what I've researched.   I'm surprised that while we're heading into the last week of November, Winter (30 days away) has just now started rearing it's creepy head. We've been very fortunate with this lovely weather as of late as Autumn's been holding her own here along the coast.  Here's a good thought...on December 21st...the days begin to grow longer again!

It'll be yet another beautiful autumn day down the shore with temps in the low-mid 60s and plenty of sun pouring down.  Breezes will begin to ramp up a bit later from the S-SW at 15-20mph.  Tonight...entirely different can of worms.  We're about to get nailed with winds beginning tonight from the W-NW at 35-45mph with gusting.  There's a 60% chance of rain showers checked in with those winds too.  It'll probably rain off and on all night long.  Tomorrow...still very windy but the rain clouds will check out and allow Ms Sun's to strut her stuff most of the day and oh...the temperature will be much cooler (just about tapping 50°).

Half and Half

Mornin'!  It's 50° in wet, misty Wildwood NJ.  We've had rain beginning yesterday afternoon and throughout the night as everything's soaked and drippy.  We've got a rain system all around us (according to the doppler) but at the moment...nothing pouring down.  Expect showers off and on today though with temps in the mid 50s. There are light breezes currently out of the North at 5-6mph and they'll ramp up to 15-20mph a bit later.  Tonight...this rain system will be checking out as we'll have clear skies and temps in the upper 40s / low 50s with breezes shifting out of the W-NW at 12-14mph.  Tomorrow looks like a lovely autumn day with mostly sunny skies and temps in the low 60s.  We missed the Super Moon here on the island last night due to the cloud cover but if it's clear by 6:12p.m. we may see a partial Super Moon Rise over the horizon.

Brisk Sunny Weekend

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  There's a light Northerly breeze 5-7mph at the moment.Ms Sun's gonna be up and at'em in about an hour. It's going to feel like a brisk one today as we'll be lucky to see temps just about making it to 50° with winds out of the NW at 10-15mph.
Thankfully Ms Sun will be pouring down until that almost Full Moon takes over around 4 o'clock this afternoon (the Full Moon's Monday by the way). Tonight...low-mid 40s with winds out of the West at 15-20mph.  Seems like these westerly breezes have checked in for the weekend.  Tomorrow will be breezy as well...winds out of the W-NW at 15-20mph with temps back up into the upper 50s and sunshine galore.  I'll be hitting the "grandson-babysitting" bricks and will be back to blogging Monday or Tuesday (that's yet to be determined).

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear, dark (beginning to lighten) skies.  Breezes are light out of the E-NE and Ms Sun is rising and will be over the horizon and shining in about a half hour.  Today's forecast is abundant sunshine with temps in the mid-upper 50s with breezes out of the NW (later this morning) at 17-20mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the upper 40s/low 50s and breezes out of the W-SW at 23-32mph.  Same forecast for tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday (sunny, mild and windy) with rain scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.  Depending on how my holiday weekend goes (Veterans weekend) I may be doing another quick vacation from blogging due to hitting the road very early tomorrow and overseeing the care of our grandson while daugher and son-in-law take a mini-weekend vacation getaway.  But then again, he could hang with us at the Shore then I'll be on top of Wildwood's weather and keeping an eye on the babe!  One way or another...check out

Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood NJ.  We're currently quiet with no breezes to note.  We're under clear, starlit skies.  And, we once again have the marsh aromas hit the olfactory nerve the minute you walk outside.  Nothing like it!  It'll be a pleasant autumn day down the shore with plenty of sunshine.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 60s and breezes out of the S-SW at 5-10mph.  Tonight...mostly clear with temps back down into the upper 50s and breezes out of the SW at 9-11mph.  Looks like tomorrow we could have some rain throughout the day and evening but Ms Sun returns Friday and seems to be checked in throughout the weekend.  The North Wildwood bonfire that was originally postponed and rescheduled for this Saturday night the 4th is still on!  Happy All Souls Day!

Welcome November!

Mornin'! Happy November! The Wildwood Weather blogger is back!  It's a bit on the early side as I continue trying to step out of vacation mode. All the warm, summery Florida loveliness came to an abrupt stopped as of yesterday afternoon. I'm doing some major adjusting as these Jersey coast temps are just about 30 degrees colder than sunny Florida (I've been told that Wildwood had near 80° temps last weekend though). It is a lovely, brisk, autumn, November morning down the shore with a temperature of 45° and clear, starlit skies.  No breezes to note.  There is a fishy-marsh fragrance to help get back into the flow of things (love that aroma). Florida's sea air can't compare in my opinion.  It'll be a mostly sunny day (some clouds thrown in the mix) with temps in the low-mid 60s.  Breezes will be light out of the S-SE at 7-9mph. Tonight...mostly clear, low-mid 50s with breezes out of the S-SW at 10-13mph.  Tomorrow looks much like today but a tad warmer.  At this point, the weekend's looking much like today and tomorrow too!  Deep breath and I've got this!
