Mornin'! It's 67° in Wildwood NJ. Ms Sun's just about up and over the horizon. It's calm with no breezes to note. The Dewpoint is 65° and Humidity's 90%. It's quiet and lovely outside this morning. The seagulls in the distance appear happy as their laughter can be heard blocks away. The briny aroma of the sea is in the air. It'll be a nice day down the Shore with plenty of sunshine, light breezes out of the W-SW at 6-9mph and temps tapping 80°. Tonight...mostly clear, then clouds roll in as there's a 20% chance of a passing shower right into the overnight. Temps will drop back into the low 60s with breezes out of the W-NW at 7-12mph. Tomorrow's forecast is sunny but much cooler...temps in the upper 60s. Saturday's looking wet (Sunday morning could be too) with Labor Day...A-OK. So, for now...it's "Adios August, until we meet again."

Pretty Nice Humpday
Mornin'! It's 62° in Wildwood NJ. It's cloudy, damp and heavy with moisture out there from all yesterday's and last night's rains. It's a bit breezy (North 10-15mph). Humidity's 93% and Dewpoint is 61°. Once most of these morning clouds drift on out of here, it'll be mostly sunny with a mix of clouds and sun as the temps get into the low-mid 70s. Breezes will continue from the North at 9-18mph. Tonight...partly cloudy with temps back down into the 60s (mid 60s) with SW breezes at 6-9mph. Tomorrow...mostly sunny with warmer temps as well as rain in the evening forecast. The upcoming holiday weekend seems to be 50-50 with the latter part being nicer. I'm still somewhat in disbelief again as Labor Day weekend knocks on our front door. Summer certainly always seems to want to fly by.

Another "almost" Fall-like Day
Mornin'! It's 66° in Wildwood NJ. What a difference another day makes...humidity's 76° and the dew point's 58°. It's partially cloud covered out there at the moment with a very light breeze out of the North at 6-8mph. Ms Sun's on her way as it'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy today with breezes all over the place beginning where they are now (North), then out of the N-NE and switching to the W-SW all at 10-15 mph while temps rise into the upper 70s maybe even tapping 80°. Tonight...more cloud cover with a 20% chance of rain showers and temps in the upper 60s / low 70s. The weekend's looking eh...pretty good and a bit Autumn-like with plenty of sunshine and temps in the mid 70s (there's a forecast or two that are saying possibility of rain showers and windy conditions).

Ms Sun's crossing the horizon as I type. It'll be lovely today with plentiful sunshine pouring down as well as some milky, floating clouds, breezes out of the N-NW at 5-10mph, and temps barely tapping 80°. Hump day Mix
Mornin'! It's 77° in Wildwood NJ. It's clear (starlit) and still (no breezes). It still feels very warm and humid out there. Dewpoint is 75° and Humidity is 97%. We're going to have a mix of clouds and sun today with temps in the low-mid 80s and breezes out of the W-NW at 9-11mph. Out of 4 forecasts I've checked, 3 reported a mostly cloudy hump day. Just saying. I think Ms Sun will break through during parts of the day. Tonight...mix of clouds and clear skies with temps in the mid-upper 70s and breezes out of the N-NW at 15-20mph. At this time, the weekend's looking bright and sunny with much cooler temps (low-mid 70s) and lower humidity.

A hazy, hot and humid One
Mornin'! It's 76° in Wildwood NJ. It's warm and humid outside this early morn with partly cloudy skies and a light breeze out of the South at 4-8mph. Dewpoint is 75° and Humidity's 95%. Today's weather menu will have a mix of sun, clouds, humid haze and warm temps mid-upper 80s (maybe tapping 90s). S-SW winds will check in later at 15-25mph. Tonight...warm with temps in the mid-70s and breezy with winds out of the S-SW at 20-30mph. There's a 20% chance of a passing shower and/or thunderstorm on the overnight. Tomorrow looks like it could be a wet hump day. The weekend's looking almost like autumn weather.

Always swim within sight of lifeguards and never at unguarded beaches, alone or at night. And, expect a good work out as the ocean current is a true force to be dealt with. Read up on the technique of swimming parallel to shore until the rip current releases its hold of you so you can head to shore. And, when entering the ocean, take note where your beach camp is because within seconds you may be wondering "where the heck am I." As for umbrella...today's winds will without a doubt challenge umbrella placement. Use one of those screw-in beach umbrella anchors and even better a bungee cord to steady the umbrella by clipping it to your beach bag, beach cart or cooler. Happy Beaching!

Eclipse Day
Mornin'! It's 71° in Wildwood NJ. It's quiet and still with some hazy cloud cover. Dewpoint is 70° with Humidity: 91%. Ms Sun's ready to rise and shine on a day that she'll be covered by moon later this afternoon. It'll be another nice day down the shore with temps in the low 80s and breezes out of the South at 5-10mph. We might see a bit of cloud cover drifting in by this afternoon and hopefully, it's after the much anticipated Solar Eclipse. The south Jersey shore will be having a "Partial" eclipse as we're not in the path of the "Full" solar eclipse. The "Partial Totality" Eclipse for Wildwood begins at 1:22p.m. (eastern time) with the maximum eclipse at 2:46p.m. and ending at 4:03p.m. with the duration being 2 hours and 41 minutes. Tonight...partly clear with clouds rolling in bringing with them the possibility of a passing shower and/or thunderstorm (30% chance) more towards the overnight. Mornin'! It's 74° in sunny Wildwood NJ. What a difference a day makes...it's gorgeous this morning. Ms Sun's shining brightly, there's a light breeze out of the North at 10-15mph. Here's the difference...dew point is 66° and humidity is 77% and it's a perfectly lovely morning down the shore. It'll stay that way as temps climb into the low 80s with N-NW breezes 10-15mph. Humidity won't be intense like it's been as of late. Tonight...upper 60's / low 70s with W-SW breezes at 5-10mph and clear skies. It's looking like a terrific beach day but pack the insect repellent with those westerly winds in today's forecast. Oh...it's looking good for the eclipse tomorrow too!

TGIF - With Rain Comin'
Mornin'! It's 76° in Wildwood, NJ. It's partially clear and breezy (S-SW 15-20mph). Humidity's 94% with Dewpoint 75%. The aroma of rain is in the sea breeze this morning but Ms Sun's trying to rise and shine. Clear skies on the doppler at the moment. All forecasts report that rain is on its way as there's a chance (40%) of rain showers and/or thunderstorms before noon. Temps will just tap 80° with Southerly winds at 15-20mph. Tonight...cloudy with even a higher chance (80%) of rain and/or thunderstorms (some could be severe) along with heavy winds (SW 20-25mph). Temps...back down into the low-mid 70s. Tides could be higher as not only is the eclipse Monday but so is the "New" moon. And, even three days out the Full and New moons do affect the tides big time especially if we're in for some heavy rains. Ending on a good note...the weekend's looking mighty fine!
High tide:5:25a.m. and 5:50p.m.
Low tide:11:18a.m.
Ocean temp: 77°
Sunset:7:51p.m.

FOOTNOTE: It's 1:15p.m. and not a cloud in the sky. We're having a perfectly warm, summer beach day since my early morning blog entry. I just checked the doppler and no nasty weather systems nearby. I guess tonight's forecast of rain showers and thunderstorms still remain to be seen.
Friday Beach Etiquette tips~
~Never leave trash on the beach and even better yet...pick up any you see whether it's yours or not. Note trash and recycle containers as The Wildwoods do recycle.
~Don't forget those cigarette butts...collect and trash them (or just don't smoke and pollute the lovely sea air). Never stick them in the sand and leave them...that'll be tomorrow's find for the little kid digging in the sand. Plus, cigarette filters take years to decompose and could be taken to the ocean by the tides giving sea life harmful/toxic cigarette filter tidbits to swallow.
~Remember to pack headphones (believe it or not no one wants to hear your music blaring from your boom box). Big, loud boom boxes are not welcomed on the beach.
~Kindly give your neighbors space when selecting your beach site. Courtesy is key. Careful not to plop down in others personal beach space.
~Teach children some beach etiquette. Running nearby others and kicking or throwing sand is a no-brainer but sometimes you'd never know it. Dropping one potato chip thoughtlessly will create seagull havoc.
~Feeding the seagulls is a big no-no. Eat and snack smartly. Using hands to express emotion when holding your sandwich up or out is a magnet for swooping gulls. Eat under your umbrella or hooded sand chair as the beach vultures (gulls) are eyeing beach goers constantly trying to find who's eating and looking for the right opportune moment to swoop down and pluck your lunch right out of your hand or mouth (seen it happen many times). Once they get you then the havoc begins as 40 other gulls come in for a food fight of your scattered lunch. By the way, seagulls know "chip bags" and if they see one sticking out of your unsupervised beach bag, they will think nothing of helping themselves and remove the chips from your bag as well as share your snacks with their gull friends while you're taking a walk or a dip (seen it happen many times).
~Playing ball, frisbee, corn hole, and kite-flying etc on the back side of the beach (dune side), not near beachgoers (the beach patrol will usually stop you anyway if you're in the wrong area.)
~shake towels and blankets away from others noting the wind direction.
~follow posted warnings (closed beaches, rip currents, surfboard/boogie board area etc) and always pay attention to lifeguards.
~Enjoy beaching!

Have no fear...Ms Sun's coming back and will be breaking through that fog some time later this morning. As the sun shines, temps will be in the low-mid 80s with breezes out of the W-NW 5-10mph. Tonight...mostly clear, low 70s, breezes out of the SW at 5-10mph. Be aware of the surf again today...very intense Rip Currents thanks to Hurricane Gert way off the coast in the midst of the Atlantic and giving our shore a run for its money. Damp Tuesday
Mornin'! It's 75 balmy degrees in Wildwood NJ. It's feeling much like the tropics this early morn. Dewpoint is 73° with humidity 97%. It's thick and humid with lots of moisture in the briny air. No breezes to note. All my indoor tropical plants now outside for the season are deliriously happy. My back porch has Key West written all over it! It'll be a mostly gray, very moist, humid day with rain showers and/or thunderstorms likely (90% chance). Some storms in the area could produce heavy rainfall. Temps won't get much higher than they are now...76 or 77° with S-SE winds at 5-10mph. Due to Hurricane Gert out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, our coast is going to experience some intense rip currents and wave action for the next two days. You've been warned...check with beach patrol/lifeguards before heading into the drink. The Surfers are drooling but the average swimmer/bather should take this warning very seriously as the current will take you far from the safety of the shore. Tonight...mostly cloudy with rain producing clouds pretty much out of here. It'll still feel warm and humid with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the NE 3-6mph. Tomorrow and Thursday...back to sunshine and warmer temps.

Temps will head up to almost 80° as breezes wift (waft) over the island from the East at 5-10mph. No rain is in the forecast. Once she's up though, she'll be competing with lots of cloud cover today as it'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy with humid conditions and temps tapping 80°. Breezes will eventually commence from the NW at 5-10mph. No rain's in today's forecast by the way. It'll be a perfect day for the North Wildwood Annual Flea Market all along Kennedy Boulevard. Tonight...same...humid, hazy cloud cover, temps in the upper 60s / low 70s and breezes out of the West at 5-10mph. Soggy Saturday
Mornin'! It's 72° in Wildwood NJ. It's raining lightly and has been since around midnight. There's a very light (barely there) breeze out of the SW at 3-5mph. Ms Sun's not having her grand entrance any time soon. Temps will barely tap 80° as it'll be cloudy with rain showers in the forecast throughout the entire day (80% chance) into this evening (50% chance). There's even a chance of a passing thunderstorm included in those rain showers. Also, be aware of the tides and street flooding. Winds will be out of the South today at 6-15mph; tonight...SW at 7-9mph as temps drop back into the low 70s. Tomorrow looks like Ms Sun will be back but with warmer temps and some of those leftover clouds.

FOOTNOTE: It's 2:15p.m. and it's been raining since this morning. It's coming down at a good clip and creating flooding in my street. Be aware if you're in a flood zone on the island as some neighborhoods get much more flooding than others. You know the drill...move your vehicle to higher ground if necessary.

Friday Loveliness
Mornin'! It's 69° in Wildwood NJ. It's a bit hazy with dry, less humid conditions and no breezes to note. Ms Sun's up and shining down on us. It'll be sunny at least for the first half of the day. Later this afternoon...clouds roll in as we're possibly in for some afternoon passing rain showers and/or thunderstorms (20% chance). Temps will be tapping 80° as breezes waft over the island from the S-SE at 6-11mph. Tonight...more cloud cover and with an increasing chance (60%) of a passing shower and/or thunderstorm. Temps will head back down where they are now...upper 60s / low 70s with breezes out of the S at 5-10mph. The weekend...tomorrow looks like it'll be mostly cloudy with some rain showers in the forecast (60% chance). And, Sunday looks mostly sunny with some clouds in the mix and another chance of a passing shower (20% chance). Looks like the next few days could be "doppler" weather...keep your eye on it!

Repeat Of Yesterday

Tonight...clear, temps in the upper 60s / low 70s with breezes out of the South 5-10mph. The weekend's looking "eh" with Sunday now being the better of the two days but both will have lots of clouds with Saturday being the cloudier and wetter (80% chance of showers).

Very Nice Hump Day
Mornin'! It's 65° in Wildwood NJ. It's a beauty as Ms Sun's up and at the moment trying to shine through the leftover horizon cloud cover. It's still with no breezes to report. There are seagulls having fun in the neighborhood as they're all loudly squawking and laughing loud enough to wake the neighborhood. It's fragrant with the salty brine aroma of the sea and marsh in the air. Looks like a hump day keeper today with temps tapping 80°, plentiful sunshine and breezes out of the N-NE at 5-10mph. Tonight...clear with breezes out of the S-SE at 8-10mph and temps in the upper 60s. Tomorrow...a repeat of today. So far...the weekend's looking 50-50 with Saturday being the better of the two days.

Another Gray Day on Tap
Mornin'! It's 68° in Wildwood NJ. We're under cloud cover as it's raining lightly with hardly a breeze. Lots of that ol' "marsh fragrance" in the air this morning. It'll be a mostly cloudy day with showers off and on this morning (60% chance of precipitation) along with some mist and patchy fog. Ms Sun will be doing her best to peek through. Clouds in the forecast this afternoon. Temps will climb into the mid-upper 70s with breezes out of the NW at 9-12mph. Tonight...still mostly cloudy with some clearing, temps in the upper 60s / low 70s and breezes out of the W-NW at 9-11mph. Sunny Sunday
Mornin'! It's 70° in Wildwood NJ. It's sunny with no breezes to note. It's quiet except for the seagulls. There's no parking available anywhere as we're in the very thick of it now. Two more weeks and we'll begin to get back to the somewhat "off-season" feel. Last two weeks of July and first two weeks of August give this island an intensity of being inhabited that's hard to ignore or better yet...hard to describe. Anyway...for this lovely Sunday ahead we'll have mostly sunny, less humid conditions with some clouds in the mix as temps tap 80° and breezes commence from the SW at 5-10mph. Tonight...partly cloudy skies give way to mostly cloudy skies as there's a 20% chance of a stray shower/thunderstorm. Temps will be in the upper 60s / low 70s with Southerly breezes at 13-17mph. If the horizon's clearly visible tonight you'll see the Full Moon rise at 7:26p.m.
