Mornin'! It's 34° in Wildwood NJ. It's 59° in my living room (the furnace guy is due in tomorrow for the repair). I just fired up the ol' gas fireplace which is warming us nicely. It's cloudy with a funky looking sky and very light breezes out of the E-NE at 2-4mph. With all that insulation in the atmosphere above, the roar of the ocean is loud and clear not to mention there's plenty of dampness in the air. Winter storm Petra is headed right for us and you can feel it. Expect a wet one today with winter precipitation in the form of snow and/or a wintry mix or just rain. It should start sometime this morning and end tomorrow morning. Nothing's coming down yet, but the TV weather guy is saying it's snowing in Baltimore and Washington DC as I type. We could see 1-3" today as the white stuff will probably wash away with the rains coming later this afternoon into this evening. Today's temps... upper 30s with Eastery winds at 15-25mph. Tonight... rain with temps still in the upper 30s and E-SE winds shifting from the W-SW all at 10-20mph. Tomorrow... Ms Sun returns in the afternoon with a high of 51°! We have another Plunge this weekend... North Wildwood's Fallen Hero Polar Plunge is Saturday at 11a.m. at 16th and the Beach. And, it looks like it'll be raining lightly with temps in the low 40s... just an fyi. As for today... the Full Moon was yesterday and so keep an ear out for flood sirens with this Storm heading our way. We'll inevitably have higher than usual tides and with this rainfall coming from Petra and you might want to keep a careful ear and eye on any flood sirens or flood waters that could potentially fill the streets today. Play it smart and put the vehicle on higher ground.
Mornin'! Happy Presidents Day! It's raining with winds out of the W-NW at 8-10mph. It's a perfect day off if you're so lucky to have today as a holiday. Pulling the blanket up and rolling over for some extra sleep is nice on a morning like this. It was always a holiday for me before retirement as I now have a holiday every day of the week... a true blessing. I'll never stop appreciating it that's for sure. So here's today's weather... I'm happy to report that it won't be a washout. Once these morning rains pass on through, it'll be a partly cloudy / partly sunny day with temps in the upper 40s. We'll probably see Ms Sun peek through by mid-day. It will become blustery with W-NW winds ramping up at 20-30mph. Tonight... partly cloudy with temps much colder (mid-30s) and winds out of the NW at 15-20mph making a windchill of 24°. Tomorrow... mostly sunny with temps in the mid-30s. Speaking of tomorrow... Full Moon so the tides will be affected and be much higher and lower than normal. And, the marshes and wetlands have a high tide one hour later than the ocean's high tide.| Hubby and Me (The best partner anyone could ask for) A "throwback thursday" from one of our 1st trips to Key West |
Mornin'! It's 25° in Wildwood NJ. We're under clear, starlit skies with no breezes to note. There's still plenty of snow encasing the island. We did have a nice meltdown yesterday though with the help of Ms Sun's rays and higher than normal temperatures steeping the white stuff away. I'm sure it'll repeat today with temps in the mid-40s. Expect a not-as-sunny day as yesterday beginning with foggy conditions. We'll have more clouds in the mix than yesterday and breezes light and variable out of the SW as there will be no wind chill today. Tonight... partly cloudy with the possibility of more fog, temps in the upper 30s and SE breezes at 2-4mph. Tomorrow... just as mild with temps in the mid-40s and mostly sunny conditions. Let the meltdown continue! Oh... tomorrow's the New Moon (no moon in sight) but the effects are the same as a Full Moon... be aware of the higher than normal tides. And, the back of the island... the marshes (wetlands) are always an hour later than the ocean's high tide. Just an FYI. Go Rams (should have been the Saints)!
