Mornin'! Happy Halloween! I'm back! I'm trying to get grounded here as I focus on "Wildwood Weather" for the first time in about 10 days. It's pretty dreary outside in Wildwood. Temp is 65° with gray, overcast skies and winds out of the South at 25-30mph +gusting. We must have had some major winds during my hiatus as the tree out front is bare from all its leaves and the tree out back has been shed of its thin branches as they're strewn all over the backyard. Major clean up this weekend for sure. So one of hubby's bucket list items has been checked off the list as he drove from Wildwood NJ to Key West Florida and back again (3000+ miles). We pulled in last night. It was very long but got to not only enjoy Key West but had the opportunity to stop in Georgia to visit our daughter and her hubby for a couple nice days. One of the best parts of the drive itself was watching the weather change from cool, blustery weather to the lush warm tropics and back again to Fall with some spectacular leaf foliage colors along the way (all in the Northeast corridor to and from Georgia). Didn't note any leave color changes at all in Florida. The average daily temp in Florida was 86° and humid by the way. The drive was perfect and amazing. No major traffic hiccups but we did have rain (miserably heavy at times) for the drive on the way home through the Carolinas.
For today's weather, expect a gray day with temps in the upper 60s and strong winds out of the South at 25-30mph +gusting. We may see some misty periods today with the rain possibly coming tonight (50% chance) with scattered showers and it'll come later when the little trick-or-treaters are in bed. Tomorrow... we'll probably wake to those overnight rain showers but Ms Sun will return by mid-day. The weekend's looking sunny and cooler (50s). Also, this weekend is "turn the clocks" back an hour ("Fall" behind) Saturday night before turning in for kick-starting "daylight savings time". Oh... I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that today is "goodbye" to October! Until next year, we bid adieu to you! It's been a pretty terrific month! Happy Halloween!

Blustery Thursday
Key West |
So, here comes the next hiatus for my ol' weather blog. Vacation begins today as I'm heading to Key West for their Halloween celebration (Fantasy Fest) again. I'll be checked out until at least Halloween.
If your curious about the weather in Wildwood, simply click on the last link on my blog page under "Personal Favs" which is "Wunderground". Type in "08260" (Wildwood's zip code) or just type in "Wildwood NJ" and in my opinion you'll see one of the most accurate forecasts here at the Shore. Also, check out the Key West webcams https://floridakeyswebcams.tv/ and who knows you may catch a glimpse of me with all those fun-loving, and bit crazed Halloween folk next week.
See ya on the other side!

Mornin'! It's 63° in Wildwood NJ. It's clear as Ms Sun's about to make her grand entrance in about a half-hour. Breezes are light out of the S-SE at 5-8mph. The clouds are checking in later this morning as the start to a nasty Nor'easter has us in its sights. Expect a few showers later this morning, then a soaking rain this afternoon. Temps will just about tap 70° as that 100% chance of rainfall may reach an inch. Winds are going to be out of the S-SE at 20-30mph +gusting. Tonight... 70% chance of rain early in the evening. Winds will be out of the W-NW at 25-35mph +gusting over 50mph. Temps will drop down into the mid-upper 50s. Expect low-lying area tidal flooding with this bad boy! Columbus Day Monday
Mornin'! Happy Columbus Day!
It's 62° in Wildwood NJ. It's cloudy and damp (from the spritzing the island received last night). It's calm and quiet as the breezes are light out of the W-NW at 4-6mph. Ms Sun's trying to rise above the clouds but she's got her work cut out for her this morning. Expect a sunny day though once these morning clouds check out. It'll be a beautiful sunny day with temps tapping 70° and breezes out of the W-NW at 7-9mph. Tonight... clear with temps back in the low-60s and breezes out of the W-SW at 4-6mph. Full Moon Sunday
Mornin'! It's 55° in Wildwood NJ. We're under some cloud cover as Ms Sun rises. It's making a spectacular, colorful sunrise no question about it. Breezes are out of the North at 4-6mph. It'll be a partly cloudy morning giving way to complete cloud cover as the rains are coming after mid-day. Thunder and lightning are even possible. Temps will get up to the mid-60s with E-NE winds at 5-10mph in the first half of the day. The chance of rain this afternoon is 70%. Tonight... more clouds with 80% chance of rain and/or thunderstorms. Temps will drop back down into the upper 50s / low 60s with winds out of the S-SE at 5-10mph. Keep your eyes on the Tides due to the Full Moon today as the island's been doing a bit of flooding as of late. We'll probably not get a chance to view the Moonrise unfortunately due to the wet weather projected.

Full Moon - High Tide Weekend
Mornin'! It's 55° in Wildwood NJ. It's sunny and bright. We've had a nice cleansing with last night's very hide tide and all is well with the world again. Hubby did clear debris from around the car in the driveway (big 4' plank of wood wedged near the back tire) this morning. The Tides were extremely high on last night's high tide and came creeping over the bulkhead, sidewalks and right into my drive and yard. A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until mid-day today. I don't expect it to be as bad as the last two days high tide though. Take precautions just in case. Anyone who drove through those waters last night (and there were loads of folks doing just that) now have some serious salty undercarriage issues on their vehicles now until they have it cleaned. Some plowed through the waters so aggressively that the wake they generated came rushing into all the driveways and yards around the neighborhood here. Enough of those annoying, relentless tides!
Today's weather will be lovely. A beautiful autumn day is in store with plentiful sunshine, temps in the upper 60s / low 70s and breezes out of the W-NW at 8-10mph. Tonight... clear, NW breezes at 10-15mph and temps in the mid-60s. Tomorrow looks cloudy with the possibility of rain in the afternoon (60% chance) into the overnight. It's the Full Moon tomorrow as well.
Monday... sunny after the morning showers check out.

Coastal Flood Warnings Posted Until Tomorrow Morning
Mornin'! It's 55° in Wildwood NJ. It's partly cloudy as Ms Sun due to cross the horizon in about half an hour from now. It's breezy with winds out of the North at 15-20mph. It'll be a mostly cloudy day with peeks of the sun as temps get up into the mid-60s. Breezes will remain out of the North at 18-20mph. Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the mid-upper 50s and winds out of the North at 10-15mph. The weekend's looking 50-50 with Saturday being the sunnier of the two days. Sunday afternoon into the evening has a 60% chance of showers in the forecast. Monday (Columbus Day) seems to be the nicest day so far with clouds checking out by morning, plentiful sunshine and temps in the low-70s. So, this Coastal Storm hovering hundreds of miles off our coast has created some havoc with that ol' tidal flooding. On last night's high tide, the ocean was crashing over the seawall in North Wildwood and the tide almost came up to the boardwalk in Wildwood. In the low-lying areas, the flooding was pretty intense. On my street (back bay / low-lying area), the water rose over the sidewalks onto and up the driveways. Expect more of that on today's and tonight's high tides. Be prepared for rising water levels and take appropriate action. Move your vehicles and do not drive through floodwaters (like some I witnessed creating a wake down my street on last night's high tide). Your vehicle will surely be damaged with all that corrosive saltwater seeping into every nook and cranny of your undercarriage. The Flood sirens were blaring as well as I was also notified by phone by our emergency services on the island to move the vehicles. By the looks of things, lots of neighbors chose to take heed. A few did not unfortunately. Remember that the high tide on the backside (bay/marsh area) is one hour later than the high tide posted. The Full Moon is Sunday and is also attributing to these intense high tides. Take precautions.

We've Got That March Feel
Mornin'! It's 52° in Wildwood NJ. We're under partly cloudy skies with winds out of the North at 10-15mph. It seems that the winds have calmed down a bit this morning but it feels chilly outside. In fact, it feels chilly inside! This weather has March (my least favorite month) written all over it.
So, there's this early season coastal system lingering off our coastline into Saturday when it will finally push eastward. There's a "full moon" this weekend too. Winds will persistently blow toward our coast today through to Saturday. This onshore wind will create several impacts including rough surf conditions and rip currents for a prolonged period of time. Widespread moderate coastal flooding is expected including beach erosion. There's a "coastal flood advisory" posted until mid-day today and a "coastal flood warning" in effect from 4pm today until 1pm Saturday. This means that there will be moderate or even "major" tidal flooding occurring. Be prepared for rising water levels and take appropriate action (move your vehicles, do not drive through floodwaters, road closures etc.).
For today... expect partly cloudy windy conditions with Ms Sun definitely peeking in and giving us her autumn warmth! Temps will get up into the mid-upper 60s with winds out of the North at 15-25mph +gusting. No rain is in today's forecast as far as I've checked. Tonight... partly cloudy and windy (North 15-25mph +gusting of up to 40mph) with temps back down into the mid-upper 50s. Tomorrow... even windier, cloudier and cooler (lucky if we tap 60°). The weekend's looking seasonably cool and sunnier with much less wind!

Exfoliating Humpday
Mornin'! It's 60° in Wildwood NJ. It continues to be cloudy and gray with those "bad hair day" winds wifting (wafting) over the island from the N-NE at 20-25+gusting. I slept in today because of all of that. It was perfect. I had the bedroom windows opened slightly so I could get the effects of the salt air and hear that beach erosion wave action 6+ blocks away throughout the night (and morning). We're supposed to have some major beach erosion and possible tidal flooding today thanks to those winds pushing on the surf and a Full Moon on the way this weekend (Sunday). Expect a gray day with lots of winds and a 50% chance of rain. Winds will be out of the N-NE at 20-30mph +gusting. Temps will be in the low 60s. Tonight... 20% chance of rain with clouds still checked in and temps drop back to the upper 50s. Winds will be out of the N-NE at 20-25mph. Tomorrow... not as gray as we just might see peeks of sun but the winds aren't going anywhere just yet. Friday... back to being a mostly gray day with those pesky "bad hair day" winds still checked in! The weekend's looking a bit brighter and calmer.

Sweater Weather
Mornin'! It's 63° in Wildwood NJ. We've got clouds and winds this morning. Winds are ramped up and making their presence known out of the N-NE at 18-22mph +gusting. It'll be a cloudy day with temps in the mid-upper 60s. Winds are staying checked in pretty much today along with the rest of the week. They'll be out of the NE at 18-24mph +gusting. There's a 30% chance of precipitation. Tonight... 50% chance of showers with temps in the low-60s and NE winds at 20-25mph +gusting as high as 40mph. It's definitely "sweater" weather along with a bad hair day. Tomorrow... a repeat of today with cooler temps in the 50s tomorrow night. Thursday... more of the same. Friday... more of the same. Saturday... more of the same. Sunday... a bit warmer (near 70°) and calmer
with (finally) peeks of sunshine.

Ahhhh... That Sea Breeze!
Mornin'! I'm back! I had loads of fun (and hard work) watching my babies (grandson and grandaughter) for a few days for my daughter and son-in-law while they vacationed. It's good to be home. It's now time to get ready for my vacation in a couple of weeks. It's 69° in Wildwood NJ. It's sunny along the ocean as Ms Sun's up and shining brightly. Breezes are light out of the South at 7-10mph. Expect lots of clouds today though. For now, Ms Sun is shining but eventually, the clouds will take over. It'll be a mostly cloudy, breezy day. Temps will get up to the mid-70s with Southerly breezes at 15-18mph. There's a 30% chance of rain beginning late this afternoon. Tonight... cloudy with temps in the upper 60s / low 70s. There's a 60% chance of rain and winds out of the South at 10-15mph. Tomorrow... another gray day with 40% chance of rain and heavy winds. This entire week looks pretty much crapola. Expect lots of clouds, periods of rain and plenty of breezes this upcoming week. According to some of my weather sites, the next day we'll see a sunny day will be Monday. Remains to be seen. Enjoy this lovely morning though. I just opened some windows and that lovely briny fragrance of the sea is wifting (wafting) right in! I'm taking it all in and enjoying every minute! It's great to be back by the sea!

Warm Humpday
Mornin'! It's 72° in Wildwood NJ. Ms Sun's up and once again trying to get through those morning clouds along the horizon. She'll make it too as it'll be a sunny day with temps in the low 80s. It'll be another "jewel" today and a bit warm with plenty of sunshine and breezes out of the W-SW at 9-11mph. Tonight... partly clear / partly cloudy with temps in the mid-upper 70s and breezes out of the W-SW at 5-8mph becoming NE at 13-18mph. There's a 20% chance of precipitation tonight. Tomorrow... considerably cooler (the upper 60s / low 70s) as it'll be cloudy and possibly rainy (30% chance of showers) with E-NE winds at 15-20mph. Friday will begin with showers in the morning and Ms Sun will prevail albeit very windy. Saturday and Sunday will have a mix of clouds and sun with much cooler temps (upper 60s / low 70s). It'll be perfect for the Gentlemen's Race on the beach this weekend! I'm heading to the big City for babysitting detail and will be back for Monday's blog! Have a great rest of the week and weekend!

October's Here!
Mornin'! It's 69° in Wildwood NJ. Welcome October! The "Jewel" continues today and tomorrow. And, there's a lot happening this month. I'll be taking a hiatus from blogging two times this month. The first one beginning the end of this week (10-3 to 10-7) as I'm on a long weekend grandchildren babysitting detail off the island. And, the other is from 10-17 to 10-31 for my next Key West (as well as a Georgia-visit) trip!
For now though... October's kicking off the month beautifully. It's still (breezes out of the S-SW at 3-5mph) and partly cloudy. Ms Sun's up and pushing through the morning cloud cover. It'll be a partly cloudy morning giving way to mostly sunshine today as temps rise up to the low-mid 70s. Breezes will ramp up beginning from the S-SW at 8-14mph to the South this afternoon at 15-18mph +some gusting. Tonight... clear, with temps in the upper 60s / low 70s and breezes out of the S-SW at 15-20mph. Tomorrow... warm and sunny (mid-upper 80s).
