Orlena's On Her Way

Mornin'!  It's 30° in Wildwood NJ this last day of January.   Not much in windchill at the moment as the breezes are out of the E-NE at 3-5mph but there's the feel of icy moisture in the air.  Almost like it's going to snow at any minute. We're under cloud cover with the horizon lightening up just a bit.  Any clearing in the sky won't be lasting long as this cloud cover is staying checked in for a quite a long time (until at least Thursday).  There's a Winter Storm Warning posted as Nor'easter Orlena is on our doorstep bringing some nasty weather to the Northeast including our coast for the next couple days.  Expect a cloudy day with rain and snow beginning this morning as it becomes all snow by this afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-30s with East winds at 15-25mph.  Our forecasts report 1-3 inches here on the island unlike Philly which may get from 8-12 inches.  Tonight... cloudy and windy with rain developing and temps in the mid-30s.  E-NE winds will be ramping up at 25-35mph +gusting.  Rainfall will be near an inch and no doubt will wash any snow away.  Tomorrow... more winds and rainfall but a bit warmer with temps in the low-mid 40s.  N-NE winds will still be intense at 25-35mph sustained with gusting of up to 50mph.  The rains will continue into Tuesday and may very well turn back to snow as the temps drop back into the low-mid 30s.  Get the soup pot out and strap in!  Oh, and prepare for island flooding there's no doubt the island will be taking on water especially in low-lying areas.  Watch where you park or drive your vehicle.  Always know your areas.  A couple areas that are high ground are around the City Hall streets in Wildwood and around 14th and Surf Avenues in North Wildwood.  I'm not sure where the highest elevation is in Wildwood Crest but I'd chose closer to the ocean side of the island instead of the bay side.  Hunker down, stay safe and be careful out there!  Until next year January... see you on the other side!

Did Freddy enjoy the snow? Some dogs enjoy eating it too. Still like seeing his photos. Kim

Kim, yes, Freddy enjoyed the snow. To a point. If he could traverse it and didn't get swallowed up by it, he was good to go. We haven't had any major snow accumulation for the last couple years of his life. The last major snowfall (17" drifts) was in January 2019 (when he was 6 yrs old) and he only kept on the shoveled paths. He did enjoy eating it as a puppy.
