Gray Day

Mornin'!  It's 45° in foggy Wildwood NJ.  It's "Say Goodbye To January" today.  Also, a big thank you to this wintry month for being as mild as it could be.  In fact, it was one of the warmest Januaries on record.  The warmest day in January was on the 26th in 1950... at 74°.  On January 12, 2020 it was 67°.  One thing's for sure... it was a mild month this year here down the Shore.  I just hope February is as kind.
Today is kicking off with foggy conditions.  It's thick at the moment as I can barely see the Harbor from my front steps.  Breezes are out of the N-NW at 7-9mph.   It looks like a gray, wet day ahead.  Expect light rain showers off and on the by late morning turning to light rain by this afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-40s with North winds at 5-10mph.  Chance of rain today is 80%.  Tonight... rain showers (60% chance) with temps dropping to 32° making those rain showers turning to a wintry mix of rain and snow tonight.  Winds will be out of the N-NE at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... February's first day will be cloudy kicking off the day and month becoming partly sunny later in the day making for a splendid sunset.  A few snow flurries are possible as well tomorrow as the temps will barely tap 40°.  We'll have N-NW winds at 10-15mph tomorrow as well.  Until next year January... thanks for the mild memories and we'll see ya on the other side!

A Little Sunshine / A Little Cloudiness

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover with barely a breeze out of the S-SE at 2-3mph.  It's feeling damp outside with humidity at 93%.  No rain though.  It's supposed to be a cloudy start to the day becoming sunny with on and off cloud cover throughout the day.  Temps will be in the upper 40s with light and variable breezes.  Tonight... partly clear becoming cloudy overnight.  Temps will be in the low 40s with W-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy with 50% chance of rain showers.  Temps will be in the low-40s with N-NW winds at 5-10mph.  We could see snow flurries if the temps fluctuate and go into the 30s as January begins her departure.  And, a big Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles; my hometown team!  You did it!  We're going to the Super Bowl! It's very exciting!

Go Birds!

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a stunner this morning.  The briny air is thick with the sea, sand and salt fragrances.  Yes... our sand is very aromatic.  Some would call it fishy.  Same for the marsh especially at low tide.  I've heard some complain of the smell being "stinky" which I just don't get.  As my smelling sense is still working its way back to normal, I've been very aware as of late how much I've missed that aroma.  There's some cloud cover over the sunrise providing the insulation needed to hear the sounds of the surf crashing the shore from my back porch.  And, that's 6+ blocks away from the ocean.  And, for some reason the seagulls are all over the place laughing as they're flying up above.  It all comes together in such perfect harmony.  Enjoy it because it's going to get gray and possibly wet today.  For now, Ms Sun's painting the clouds surrounding her.  Breezes are out of the South at 4-8mph.  We're going to have a mix of sun and clouds this morning until the clouds eventually take over.  There's a 40% chance of showers this afternoon.  Temps will be mild though... 50°.  Winds will pick up out of the S-SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight.... cloudy, temps in the low-40s with W-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy skies early becoming a cloudy day with a high of 48° and very light and variable breezes.  Today in Philly, it's the Philadelphia Eagles vs the San Francisco 49ers game. The weather is much like ours as temps are the same and there's a 30% chance of rain this afternoon.  By the way... the winner of this game goes to the Super Bowl!  If you've read my profile, you know I'm a Philly girl (born and raised) and I'm from an Eagles family (both parents).  I've been to many games and practices.  I even met some of the Eagles (way back in the day... even shook Pete Retzlaff's hand) after a practice at Franklin Field in the '60s when I was a kid.  It's a very exciting time right now and today's game is "off the chart" exciting.  Go Birds!

Mornin'!  Happy Weekend!  January's winding down fast now...3 more days and she's outta here!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly.  And, that's without a cloud in the sky this morning.  Breezes are out of the SW at 10-15mph.  Expect lots of sunshine today with a high of 51°.  You rarely see that temperature at the end of January.  Winds will be out of the SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... clear to partly clear with some clouds filtering in.  Temps will be around 40° with S-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy skies in the first part of the day as the sky become overcast in the afternoon.  Temps will still be unseasonable at 51° with S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  By evening, there's a 15-20% chance of rain.  By Monday afternoon, Ms Sun returns with temps in the mid-upper 40s.

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  It's partly clear with some leftover rain clouds.  Ms Sun's on her way as the briny marsh winds blow over island out of the West at 15-20mph.  Those West winds will stick around today as we're going to have a windy day with West winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  It'll be partly sunny.  Temps won't get much higher as they'll be in the upper 40s today.  Tonight... some light cloud cover giving way to mainly clear skies overnight.  Temps will be in the mid-30s with West winds still checked in at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, high of 42° and those West winds at 10-15mph.  For this weekend... Hump Day Kassandra

Mornin'!  Happy Hump Day! It's 40° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 80% with winds out of the East a 9-12mph.  It's cloudy, raw and damp outside and feels like 34°.  It's actually nice outside compared to what's coming today.  It's going to be a miserable day with these clouds turning to rain clouds by early this afternoon.  Temps will rise up into the low-50s with E-SE at 10-20mph increasing to 25-35mph +gusting over 50mph.  Chance of rain is 100%.   Tonight... 100% chance of rain.  Temps will drop to the low-40s with SW winds at 25-35mph +gusting of 40-50mph.  Tomorrow... Sunny Tuesday

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly over the island!  I haven't said that one in awhile.  Sunshine abounds!  Breezes are out of the West at 14-18mph.  It feels like 29°.  It'll be a mostly sunny to partly cloudy day with a high near 45° and West winds at 15-25mph.  Tonight... partly clear to partly cloudy skies with a low of 34° and North winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy with periods of rain developing in the afternoon.  Temps will actually be in the low-50s with winds picking out of the E-SE at 20-30mph. For tomorrow... there's a storm "Kassandra" heading in our direction from the South and many in its path will see a major snow storm.  For our Coast... rain event!  Thankfully.  Expect a rainy, windy day tomorrow with much warmer than normal temps. Mornin'!  It's 34° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy, damp and raw with that briny stillness surrounding the island.  Breezes are barely there out of the SE at 2-3mph.  It'll remain cloudy as light rain develops early this afternoon.  Temps will rise into the mid-upper 40s with those SE breezes fairly light at 5-10mph.  Chance of rain is 80%.  Tonight... rain likely, temps around 40° and E-SE winds shifting to the West at 10-15mph.  Chance of rain is 100%.  Tomorrow... another rainy day likely (75% chance) with off and on light rain mainly in the first half of the day.  Temps will be in the low-mid 40s with winds increasing in the afternoon out of the W-NW at 20-30mph +gusting. That New Moon was yesterday and will still have an effect on those high tide times so be aware of the low-lying areas on the island as well as where you drive or park near the flood water areas.  The Eagles won last night and beat the NY Giants 38-7 earning their trip to the NFC Championship!  Congratulations!  Go Birds!

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 31° with the windchill due to the NW breezes at 10-15mph.  Ms Sun just rose and at the moment is dealing with some leftover, overnight clouds.  In fact, she may be dealing with clouds off and on throughout the day today.  Expect a mix of sun and clouds down the Shore today.  Temps will get up into the mid-40s with NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... mostly clear, temps around 34° and very light and variable winds.  Tomorrow... the overnight cloud cover will be providing a cloudy start to the day with rain in by mid-day or a bit later.  Expect a rainy afternoon tomorrow with temps in the mid-upper 40s and SE winds at 5-10mph.  It's the New Moon today and you'll notice the high tides are much higher than usual.  You might even see some of the tide water seeping onto the island along those low-lying areas during high tide.  And, good news to report... taste and smell are returning!!!  I could actually pick up the briny air this morning when stepping out onto the back porch!  First time in a week.  And, the coffee actually has flavor instead of just bitterness.  I can actually feel Covid releasing its creepy grip!  I just hope there's no lasting effects as some have reported.  Oh... go Birds!  The Eagles game is on tonight!

Breezy Friday

Mornin'!  Happy Friday!  It's 40° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got some cloud cover and dampness (91% humidity) and breezes (West 9-11mph).  Ms Sun's trying to peek in through the cloud cover but for now... not happening.  Expect a windy Friday with a mix of clouds and sun.  Temps will be in the upper 40s with W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... clear sky with temps near 35° and W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny despite a few afteroon clouds, temps in the mid-40s and NW winds at 10-20mph.  Sunday... starting out cloudy with rain by the afternoon, mild temps in the mid-40s and calmer SE winds at 9-11mph.  The New Moon is tomorrow... higher than normal and much more swollen tides with new and full Moons.  Be aware of those low-lying areas on the island and that tidal flooding we're subject to around these times.  And, much to be grateful for as Covid's beginning to continue to drift slowly away as hubby and I are feeling stronger, not as fatigued and less congested with each passing day.  Whew!

Mornin'!  It's 42° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under thick cloud cover.  It's the kind of morning where you can't determine where the ocean meets the sky as the ocean's steel color meets the silver in the nondescript sky.  Breezes are barely there out of the E-SE at 3-5mph.  We're heading into a rainy day.  Expect a cloudy day with periods of rain by later this morning.  We could even hear a rumble of thunder.  Temps will be near 50° with E-SE at 10-15mph.  Chance of rain 80%.  Tonight... still possible rain showers (80% chance) with temps dropping to where they are now (low-40s) and W-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy and windy with temps near 50° and W-NW winds at 20-30mph with high wind gusts possible.  As for the weekend... Saturday looks clear and sunny with temps in the mid-40s and Sunday looks gray with rain by the afternoon and temps in the mid-40s.  Still battling through the remnants of Covid as my lungs (along with hubby's harmonies) loosen up with the sounds of what I would imagine a TB ward sounds like.  Not to mention I know there's coffee brewing along with that briny air outside but my orthonasal olfaction just isn't picking it up yet.

Nice Humpday

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  The sky is hazy with milky cloud cover and barely a star twinkling in the dark, before-dawn, sky.  Breezes are out of the West at 9-11mph.  I still can't smell so that thick, briny, salty, sea air has no doubt got to be surrounding me when stepping out onto the back porch.  It's still feeling mild (albeit very "damp") for this time of the winter season. The humidity's is heavy at 99% right now.  It's strip the COVID bedroom down to its bareness this morning.  All fabric and every bit of the bedding has begun hitting the washing machine as I type. Hubby's sick room is upstairs and his bedding is his problem.  I only have energy for one sick room not to mention yesterday's  homemade chicken noodle soup!

As for today's weather... I have to admit, it looks like a nice day to hang some of this wash outside on the clothesline. Expect a partly sunny day and a high of 51°.  Breezes will be out of the W-NW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... 25% chance of rain as it'll be partly cloudy then turning mostly cloudy late as temps drop into the mid-upper 30s and NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... rain showers in the morning evolving into a more steady rain by the afternoon (80% chance).  Temps will almost tap 50° with SE winds at 10-15mph.  Friday and Saturday look like partly sunny days with Sunday looking cloudy as rain showers are due in by later in the afternoon.

Rain On The Way

Mornin'!  It's 40° in Wildwood NJ.  It's partly cloudy with some spectacular sunrise clouds happening.  Breezes are out of the S-SW at 4-6mph.  It's a beautiful winter's morn down the Shore. It felt great to step outside and breathe in the fresh salt air although I'm still having trouble with smell and taste.  The weather will begin to change by later this morning as rain is due in today.  Expect rain before noon as temps get up to around 45° with SW winds at 5-10mph.  Chance of rain is 70%.  Tonight... looks like today's rain system is gone by late this afternoon with only a slight chance of a shower (15%) as temps remain in the low-mid 40s with W-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... sun and clouds with a high of 52°, much breezier 10-20mph W-NW winds.  Finally beginning to feel myself again after COVID checked into my home before this past weekend.  It's been quite the challenge. I'm happy to report I got a restful night's sleep for the first time in awhile.  This computer screen still hurts my eyes but I think I'm beginning to taste my tea!  I know for a fact, that the COVID tide has turned in my favor.

Polar Plunge Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 34° in Wildwood NJ.  It's overcast and gray with winds out of the N-NW at 10-15mph.  It'll be a gray Saturday for the Polar Plunge.  Temps will just about tap 40° with N-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, temps around 30° and N-NW winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny with a high of 44° and, N-NW winds at 15-25mph.  Higher gusts are possible. The Polar Plunge is at the Convention Center beach at 1pm.  Good luck Plungers... I won't be making it this year as COVID's in the house. I thought I was immune with all the shots... nada.  I can only imagine how this virus attacks and sickens you without those vaccines and boosters.  Sick as a dog for the last 2 days but I made it to the computer this morning so I know there's a light at the end of this achey, tired, sore, tunnel.  Be safe out there!

Gray, Damp and Windy Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  It's gray with heavy cloud cover and light breezes out of the S-SE at 9-13mph.  We've got some nasty weather ahead beginning this afternoon.  Here's how it's going to go... clouds this morning with 50% chance of rain later this afternoon.  Temps will be mild in the mid-50s with S-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... the winds pick up as a steady rain arrives late raining into the overnight.  Temps will still be in the 50s.  It's those winds that will be the main attraction... 25-35mph +gusting with higher gusts possible.  In fact, there's a "gale warning" posted today from 6pm to 6am tomorrow.  The winds will be rip-roaring tomorrow as the rain checks out by tomorrow morning.  We should see peeks of sunshine by tomorrow afternoon as these mild temps stick around.  The weekend still looks the same.  Saturday is partly sunny / partly cloudy with temps around 40° and Sunday looks about the same with more sunshine than cloud cover.  Saturday will be the breezier of the two days.  Good luck polar plungers as the annual Polar Plunge benefiting the Special Olympics is Saturday at 1pm on the beach at the Convention Center.

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's on her way as the sky is clear with a line of clouds along the horizon.  Speaking of sky... it's once again painted with all those lovely colorful pastels.  Breezes are out of the N-NE at 2-5mph.  And, there's a light layer of frost on all the surfaces outside this early morn.  It'll be a clear start to the day with clouds rolling in later this morning.  By this afternoon, it'll be a cloudy day with temps near 45° and E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... still cloudy with temps around 40° and East winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy in the morning, then off and on rain by the afternoon as temps climb up into the mid-50s.  The S-SE winds will begin roaring over the island at 15-25mph with a 50% chance of rain.  By tomorrow night... steady rain coming down with even more intense winds out of the South at 25-35mph +gusting.  Strap in!  As for this weekend which is the Polar Plunge on Saturday at 1pm on the Convention Center's beach, it'll be cold and partly sunny with temps around 43° and breezy with winds around 15-20mph. Misty Morning - Sunny Afternoon

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got plenty of cloud cover as it's misty and wet outside.  Everything's dripping.  It's not quite foggy but in the still, morning darkness you can see the particles of moisture in the air floating around any outdoor lights or street lamps.  There's barely a breeze out of the W-NW at 3-5mph.  All this cloud cover and moisture in the air will eventually give way to sunshine by this afternoon.  There's a slight chance (15%) of a rain shower today.  Temps will only rise a couple degrees to around 45° as winds pick up out of the NW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... clear, moonlit skies, temps dropping to the low-mid 30s and NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy in the morning becoming overcast with gray skies by the afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-40s with W-NW winds at 5-10mph.

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got some bright sunshine out there!  My living room is glowing with sunny brightness and that's without that lovely, sparkling Christmas Tree. All the decorations came down yesterday.  As Ms Sun shines there are very light winds out of the North at 3-5mph.  It'll be a sunny start with clouds rolling in later this morning as the day becomes cloudy by this afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-mid 40s with light and variable winds.  Tonight... clouds with periods of rain, temps down to where they are now... upper 30s and S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Chance of rain is 80% tonight.  Tomorrow... cloudy skies early becoming partly clear later in the day with a slight chance of a rain shower (20% chance), temps in the mid-40s with NW winds at 10-20mph.

Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  The sun is shining in the clear, cloud-free sky.  Breezes are out of the W-NW at 10-15mph.  It's a crisp, lovely morning on the island.  It'll be a sunny to partly sunny day with temps in the upper 40s and W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy with clouds giving way to clear skies overnight.  Temps will drop into the low-30s with NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... a mix of clouds and sun at the start to the day followed by cloudy skies in the afternoon with a slight chance of an afternoon shower (15% chance), temps around 40° and E-NE winds at 5-10mph.

Full "Wolf" Moon Friday

This Morning's Webcam Shot - NW

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ. It's a bit misty and foggy with plenty of cloud cover this morning.  Ms Sun's up but not coming through those clouds yet.  Winds are out of the W-NW at 3-5mph.  It's the Full Moon today.  As for today's weather... we're going to have a mix of sun and clouds with temps near 50° and breezy W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  There's a 10% chance of a passing shower.  We had a good downpour yesterday afternoon out of nowhere.  Tonight... partly clear with a few passing clouds, temps dropping into more seasonable temps around the mid-30s with those W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny with some clouds sprinkled about in the blue sky with temps around 45° and those brisk W-NW still checked in at 10-20mph. Oh, a be aware of the Full Moon today as the High Tides will be much higher than normal.  You may see the tide water in the streets during high tide times if in a low-lying area.  Don't drive through the tide "salty" waters as it's very corrosive for the underside of your vehicle.  And, remember that the tides are an hour later rising on the backside (marsh side) of the island.

It's the Epiphany, the 12th Night, Little Christmas (marking the close of Christmas season), Three Kings Day, and the the kick-off to Mardi Gras and Carnival Season. Happy Carnival Season!  My King Cake dough is rising as I type.  Since we don't have those cakes readily available here, I just bake my own.  And, it's taken me quite a few tries to get it right.  In case you're not sure what the King Cake tradition is... Mardi Gras and king cakes go hand in hand.  Hundreds of thousands of these cakes are enjoyed every year beginning today throughout Carnival Season right up to and including Mardi Gras (the day before Lent or Ash Wednesday... thus Shrove Tuesday, Fasnacht Day, Donut day etc).  According to Christian faith, Jesus first showed himself to the three Kings (wise men) and to the world of January 6th.  It's the Epiphany a greek word meaning "to show".  Each cake has a tiny baby (representing the Baby Jesus) hidden inside and the lucky person receiving it in their slice has the next party or must bring a king cake to the following year's celebration.  King cakes are basically cinnamon breads (brioche dough) with sugar icing and are delicious!

Mostly Gray Thursday

Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood NJ.  We're in some major fog at the moment. Breezes are barely there out of the NW at 2-4mph. I can barely see across the street.  I just checked the webcam at the Ferry Terminal and all I can say is good luck on this morning's cruise over to Delaware as the bay is totally fogged in.  I wouldn't want to be the Captain cruising that ship this morning. We're going to have a foggy morning with a cloudy day ahead.  Expect a mild winters' day with mostly cloudy conditions, temps near 60° with winds that are light a variable mostly out of the W-NW.  There's a 15% chance of a passing shower.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, temps cooler in the low-mid 40s with light and variable winds.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy with peeks of sunshine, high near 50° and W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  For the weekend... mostly sunny, high of 45° for Saturday and on Sunday... mostly cloudy and high of 40°.  Don't forget, the Full Moon is tomorrow and the tides will reflect that as you'll more than likely see water in the streets on some of the those low-lying areas. The  tide water surrounding us will inevitably seep onto the island during high tide times.

Gray Hump Day

Mornin'!  It's 56° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under mostly cloud cover with breezes out of the SW at 7-9mph.  It's actually a very lovely  morning.  It's quiet and mild with the heavy fragrance of the sea in the air and the sound of the ocean waves crashing in the far off distance.  Ms Sun's up but the clouds have her obscured yet she's really trying to peek through those little cracks and openings.  I have my doubts that she'll make it through at all today.  Expect a cloudy, gray day today.  Showers and even a possible thunderstorm is possible this afternoon.  Temps will stay mild and hover right around the mid-upper 50s with S-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Chance of rain is 80%.  Tonight... rain showers (50% chance) with overcast skies for the overnight.  Temps will drop into the mid-upper 40s with SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy skies early with partial clearing as temps remain mild (mid-50s) and NW winds at 5-10mph.  Friday's the Full "Wolf" Moon so be aware of those out of normal swollen Tides.

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms. Sun's doing her best to shine through the clouds and it's a bit breezy at 10-15mph with winds out of the S-SW.  We're going to have a mix of clouds and sun this morning as it becomes a cloudy day by this afternoon.  Temps will get into the mid-50s.  Oh, by the way... we hit 61° yesterday as it was a sunny beauty down the Shore!  Today's winds will ramp up still out of the S-SW at 10-20mph.  Tonight... cloudy and overcast, temps in the upper 40s / low 50s with SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy skies with 75% chance of rain throughout the day, temps in the mid-upper 50s and S-SW winds at 5-10mph.

First Monday Of 2023

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly through those winter milky clouds.  No breezes to note.  This morning's weather report actually had "0" on the winds gauge which you seldom see.  It'll be a nice day with a mix of sun and clouds, high of 52° and light and variable winds.  I'm thinking day two for a nice island bike ride as yesterday was a perfect day for a boardwalk bike ride!  Tonight... mostly cloudy, temps in the low-40s and Southerly breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... a breezy and overcast day with high near 55° and S-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Glad I made that pot of soup yesterday (Beef/Vegetable/Lentel)!

Happy New Year - 2023!

Mornin'!  Happy New Year!  Welcome 2023!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  There's barely a breeze out there.  We're in some thick soup as heavy fog encompasses the island.  I can barely see across the street.  It's supposed to burn off though.  Expect areas of thick fog this morning as it'll become mostly sunny by late morning / early afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-50s with NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy with temps around 38° along with West winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... patchy fog to kick off the new week as Monday becomes mostly sunny, temps in the low-50s and West winds around 5mph.  Philly might be hitting 60° and it couldn't be any better for the annual Mummers Day Parade or an exciting Eagles Game!  Go Birds!   I'd like to wish everyone a happy and healthy 2023.
