Last Of April - Auf Wiedersehen!

Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood NJ.  This is it!  It's the last of April's weather and April Showers.  We've wound down.  Wildwood's under thick cloud cover as it rains lightly.  Winds are out of the E-SE at 10-15mph.  The roar of the ocean is loud and clear this morning. I stood on my back porch enjoying the sounds of the surf before daybreak.  When it's cloudy... the roar is prominent the minute you step outside.  In fact, I could hear it before I even left my warm, cozy bed this morning as the bedroom windows were opened. It sounds like a busy highway in the distance.  One time, while a friend was visiting, as we stepped outside, she listened and asked, "Is that traffic?"  
It's going to be a wet April 30th.  Expect a steady rain this morning with shower and perhaps a rumble of thunder this afternoon as it rains all day today and into the night.  Temps will be in the low-60s with E-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain is 90%.  Tonight... periods of rain giving way to clear skies overnight, temps will drop to around 50° with W-SW winds at 20-30mph.  Tomorrow... May opens with sunshine along with clouds filtering in later in the day, temps in the low-60s and W-SW winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow night... partly to mostly clear, temps in the low-mid 50s and W-SW winds at 15-25mph.  Until next year, April... see ya on the other side!

Last Weekend Of April

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  It's April's finale weekend.  And, her rain showers won't disappoint.  We're under gray skies with winds out of the E-SE at 10-15mph.  We're soggy as it poured heavy rain all throughout yesterday and last night.  I'd say we're watered and filled to the brim.  It'll be a cloudy day with possible peeks of sun by later this afternoon.  Temps will rise into the low-60s with stiff E-SE winds at 15-25mph.  Tonight... cloudy with temps in the mid-50s and E-SE winds at 5-10mph.  There's a 25% chance of rain tonight.  Tomorrow... another rain system is checking in as there's 90% chance of rain and very stiff winds (E-SE at 20-30mph +gusting).  Tomorrow night... 50% chance of rain with temps in the upper 50s and calmer winds.  Monday... mostly sunny, temps in the low-60s and calm winds.  I keep looking for flowers but so far April's showers haven't provided any in my neighborhood yet.  What is everywhere is debris, twigs, leaves, pollen and trash from yesterday's windy torrents.  Monday looks like a good clean-up day.

Mornin'!  It's 54° in Wildwood NJ.  It's gray and windy.  Winds are out of the East at 20-25mph +gusting.  Humidity's 86% as it's so damp outside it feels a bit misty.  My guess is it's the wet ocean breeze blowing from 6+ blocks away onto my complexion because it's not raining yet.  But it sure is salty out there!  Expect a windy, rain day with 100% chance of rain and East winds at 25-35mph +gusting to an occasionl 50mph!  Strap in! Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  Breezes are out of the East at 5-10mph.  We're surrounded by cloud cover with breaks (mostly on the marsh side of the island) showing clear, blue sky.  Ms Sun's up there somewhere but we've currently got gray skies.  It was raining lightly when I first woke just over an hour ago but not at the moment.  There's a 40% chance of some more showers this morning but sunshine is supposed to be peeking through by later this afternoon.  Temps will rise into the low-60s with E-SE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... mainly cloudy, with a 15% chance of a shower, temps in the low-50s and E-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... a rainy day (80% chance) beginning mostly late morning with temps in the low-60s and blustery East winds at 20-30mph.  Rain tomorrow night (100% chance) and still very blustery.  Saturday... mostly cloudy with rain in the first half of the day, temps will be in the low-mid 60s.  Sunday... more rain (80% chance) with temps in the mid-upper 60s and not as blustery.  The next Full Moon is May 5th (next Friday) and while we're at it... Earth Day 2023

Mornin'!  Happy Earth Day!  It's 57° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear skies with Ms Sun up as the winds are out of the South at 9-11mph.   It'll stay like this throughout most of the morning as clouds begin to filter in making for a cloudy start to this afternoon.  There's a 30% chance of scattered showers and even an isolated thunderstorm developing this afternoon as well.  Temps will get into the upper 60s with S-SE winds ramping up at 15-25mph.  Tonight... 95% chance of rain with a potential for heavy rainfall.  Temps will drop down into the low 50s with S-SE winds at 15-25mph.  It'll probably rain until very early Sunday morning. Tomorrow... mainly sunny with a few afternoon clouds filtering in.  Temps will be in the upper 60s with W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  It's the day to go collect all the trash on this earth of ours and believe me when I tell you... Wildwood's got more than enough trash in its streets and particularly in its dunes and beaches.  It's heartbreaking.  Today's the day to take along a trash bag and clean up and do your do your due diligence.  Better yet, think twice before throwing trash thoughtlessly around the island.  So many do and I can't understand why.  We need that crying American Indian doing that PSA commercial as he observes the Earth being trashed.  Maybe that would deter some of those thoughtless, careless folk.  And, make that commercial repeat as often as the political advertising campaigns on TV!

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  Blog's a bit late this morning... grocery shopping at the crack of dawn.  Then, some food prep before sitting here blogging.  I've got my steaming hot cup of coffee and I'm enjoying the lovely morning sea breeze and sounds of the seagulls coming right through my opened front porch windows.  It's sunny and a bit breezy with E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Expect loads of sunshine today with temps around 60° and E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... clear, temps in the low-50s and East winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny with temps in the mid-60s and SE winds at 10-15mph.  The weekend's looking like Saturday will be mostly cloudy, temps in the mid-60s with rain showers coming in the early evening into the overnight.  Sunday looks sunny with temps in the mid-60s.  It's the New Moon today so you'll be able to see those swollen tides when it's high tide time.  Happy 4/20!  Pot is legal in New Jersey but you won't find it here in Wildwood.  You might smell it, but you won't have access to it as there are no dispensaries here (yet).  There are CBD shops but no dispensaries.

Red Flag Warning Posted

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  There's a lot going on this morning.  It's sunny as Ms Sun rose almost 2 hours ago. Breezes are 10-15mph out of the W-NW.  There's a Red Flag warning posted for our area as well as 20+ other areas in South Jersey beginning this  morning until 8pm tonight.  These W-NW winds will ramp up to 25-30mph as the humidity's almost non-existent and we're dry as a bone right now.  The combination of dry conditions + low humidity + gusty winds = favorable conditions for the rapid spread of fires this afternoon.  Our Pine barrens on the mainland are really vulnerable as well as our dunes.  Always be aware of those cigarette butts. Don't flick lit cigarettes unconsciously!  The New Moon is tomorrow as well which brings those incredibly high tides to the island.  We have no rain in the forecast until late Saturday night / early Sunday morning so any water you may see on the island's streets is just tide water seeping in. I would venture to say that if we see any tidal flooding it won't be until Friday.  
Other than being a dry, blustery day, it'll be bright and sunny with temps in the mid-60s.  Winds will be out of the West at 10-20mph with gusting.  Tonight... mainly clear skies, temps in the low-50s and S-SW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... a repeat of today with East winds instead and much calmer at 10-15mph.  As for this weekend's weather... Saturday will be cloudy and very windy with temps in the mid-60s with rain late in the day/early evening and Sunday looks to start out rainy turning to sunny conditions by mid-day and calmer winds.

Mostly Gray Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 56° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's shining.  It's a bit on the hazy, foggy side. There's actually a layer of mist/fog over the beach right now. In fact, one forecast posted that we're supposed to have dense fog over the island this morning until about 10am.  It's still with barely a breeze out of the SE at 1-3mph.  We had a mostly sunny day yesterday with barely a drop of rain (there was some thunder and lightning and storm clouds late in the day)with a brief, light shower but not much more than that.  From the overnight dampness and fog, everything outside is dripping wet as the dewdrops glisten in the morning sun. The island birds are awake and making their presence known; especially those seagulls... lots of laughter.  It'll be a mostly cloudy, overcast day with areas of patchy fog this morning heading into a partly sunny / partly cloudy afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-mid 60s with SW turning to SE breezes at 5-10mph.  Tonight... considerable cloudiness with occasional rain showers (40% chance), temps in the mid-50s and Southerly breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... partly to mostly sunny with a slight chance of a shower (20% chance), temps in the mid-60s and West winds at 10-15mph.

Sunny Start - Cloudy Finish

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly.  Blog's a bit on the late side this morning.  I was doing a "Betty Crocker" (that's what hubby calls me when the first thing I do is bake... "Betty Crocker's in the house") this morning and rustling up some pumpkin-crumb muffins.  I used the frozen pureed pumpkin that's still in the freezer from the Fall.  It's smelling yummy in the house as the spicy, autumn aroma blends perfectly with the summer-like salty brine fragrance moving through all the opened windows.  Breezes are light out of the SW at 10-12mph.  In my opinion, the weather doesn't get much better.  It'll be a really nice day.  But, just within a few hours (late morning - early afternoon) the clouds will begin to roll on in and change the feel on the island.  Expect a mix of clouds and sun later this morning with a partly cloudy afternoon.  Temps will be in the low 70s with S-SW winds ramping up at 10-20mph.  Tonight... cloudy, with 25% chance of rain and winds out of the South at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... 50% chance of occasional rain showers.  Temps will be much cooler... low 60s with S-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Sunday... partly to mostly cloudy with temps in the low-60s and calm winds.

Mornin'!  It's 57° in Wildwood NJ.  Another beauty kicking off the day.  It's a lovely morning down the Shore with abundant sunshine, not a cloud in the sky, breezes are light out of the West at 5-7mph and island birds making their presence known everywhere.  It'll be a record-breaker today with sunny skies, temps near 80° and W-SW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clear to partly cloudy, temps around where they are now (upper 50s) and SW breezes at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy start giving way to mostly cloudy skies by the afternoon.  Temps will be in the 70s with S-SW winds at 10-20mph.  By midnight... we'll see rain developing.  Saturday... those overnight rains from late Friday will stay checked in until the early morning hours of Sunday.  Saturday's temps will be around 60° with light winds out of the S-SE.  Sunday... partly cloudy with peeks of sun, temps around 60° with light breezes. Yesterday, I thought perhaps a nice beach day but it turned out a bit too breezy.  But, I'm definitely going with a "beach day" today!  Time to check on the sun tan lotions!

Mornin'!  It's 58° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under partial cloud cover with Ms Sun up and doing whatever she can to brighten the morning sky.  Winds are out of the West at 10-12mph.  It's an amazing morning down the Shore as it's calm, mild and fragrant.  Then, throw in the sounds of the seagulls and island birds and you've got "amazing" in my opinion.  These morning clouds will give way to clear, sunny skies today with temps in the... get this: mid-upper 70s!  We should feel stiffer winds this afternoon still from the West at 10-20mph.  Tonight... clear skies, temps in the mid-upper 50s with W-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... a repeat of today... sunny, temps in the mid-70s and W-SW winds at 10-15mph.  Friday... a mix of clouds and sun with more mild temps.  Saturday looks like a washout with rain all day and night.  Sunday looks partly sunny with a bit on the cooler side (temps tapping 60°).  For today though... perhaps a beach day?

Full "Pink" Moon Tonight

Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up shining through the hazy sky.  There's a haze over the island just on the borderline of fog but the morning is definitely brightening.  Winds are out of the S-SW at 9-11mph.  It'll be a hazy start to the day with clouds filling the skies later this morning.  There's a 60% chance of rain developing this afternoon with the potential for severe thunderstorms.  Temps will hover around 70° with winds out of the S-SW at 10-15mph (it's supposed to be in the low-80s in Philly today along with that rain).  Tonight... 100% chance of rain showers and possible storms.  This rain system may linger overnight.  Temps around 50° with NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... partly to mostly cloudy day with temps in the upper 50s and NW winds at 10-15mph.  As for the weekend... Saturday will still be mostly gray and cloudy with temps around 50°.  Sunday... mostly sunny with temps still around 50°.  It's the Full Moon today and I'm guessing we won't get to see that beautiful moon rise tonight with all the cloud cover.

Happy Passover! Mix of Fog, Clouds, Peeks Of Sunshine Today

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ with humidity at 97%.  Breezes are out of the S-SE at 4-6mph. We're in the soup with foggy conditions.  Ms Sun's up there in the morning haze but not making it through the foggy denseness.  Everything's dripping wet.  The sound of the waves crashing onto the shore is loud and clear and that's 6+ blocks away from the beach.  I live closer to the marsh side of the island, but when the clouds are this heavy and low, it insulates the sounds of the surf. This fog is supposed to turn into a partly sunny / partly cloudy day with temps near 60° with S-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy with areas of fog, temps in the low-mid 50s and Southerly winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy morning turning to possible rainy conditions with maybe even a thunderstorm or two (70% chance).  We might see peeks of sun by late afternoon.  Temps will be in the  low-mid 60s with S-SW winds at 15-25mph.  As for the weekend... Saturday looks to be another cloudy day with Sunday being sunny.  Both days with seasonable temperatures... low-mid 50s.  Passover begins at sundown today.  Happy Passover!

Wildwood "Fake" Palms

Mornin'!  Happy Palm Sunday! It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  Feels like 39° with the windchill.  Winds are out of the NW at 20-25mph +gusting.  It's clear as Ms Sun is up and over the horizon and shining brightly in the almost cloud-fee sky.  Yesterday was crazy.  Got my first slice of Mack's pizza before we made it through some intense storms and tornado warnings last night.  Some scary stuff.  April was coming in with a bang after an unsettled morning and a stunning, warm afternoon.  By dinner time, Wildwood was on the "Weather Channel".  We had dark, threatening skies with extreme winds.  We had hail.  We had major lightning that was hitting very close by.  One strike seemed to hit the driveway next door which I could feel go right through me and seemed to lift me right off the sofa.  Very scary stuff.  Today... no storms I'm happy to report.  Expect a sunny day with temps in the mid-50s and still very breezy with those NW winds at 20-25mph.  By this afternoon, the winds will (thankfully) decrease out of the NW at 15-20mph.  Tonight... clear with temps around 40° and very calm NW breezes.  Tomorrow... sunny, high near 60° and still blustery with Southerly winds at 10-20mph +gusting.  Tuesday... a repeat of Monday but without the windy conditions.

Fallen Hero Plunge Day

Mornin'!  It's 29° in Wildwood NJ. It's been snowing heavily all morning; accumulation 6" so far.  April Fools!  I had to.  It wouldn't be April Fools Day without a practical joke to kick off the day.  It's actually 54°.  We're under thick cloud cover even though Ms Sun's up there shining and not making it through these morning clouds.  It's windy... S-SW at 20-25mph.  There's loads of moisture in the air (96% humidity) but no rain yet.  It's coming though.  Expect rain (with the possibility of thunder) commencing this morning in about an hour (100% chance).  Expect a rainy, windy day today with temps in the low-60s and S-SW winds at 20-30mph.  By late afternoon (somewhere between 1-5pm) we could see peeks of sunshine.  Tonight... rain returns (90% chance) with blustery winds.  It'll then becoming cloudy around midnight.  Temps will drop into the low-40s with W-NW winds at 20-30mph.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny, temps in the low 50s and NW winds (still blustery) at 20-30mph +gusting.  Good luck Plungers as the North Wildwood Fallen Hero Plunge is this morning at 11am at 1st and Surf Aves. It's going to be very wet for this year's plunge one way or another. Proceeds benefit the families of police offers lost in the line of duty.  And, that's no joke!
