May's Checking Out

Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood NJ.  It's May's last hurrah as she comes to an end for another year.  She was nice to us this year with her near perfect weather (in my opinion).  It's currently partly cloudy with hazy sunshine.  We still have leftover breezes (not as bad as yesterday) with winds out of the NE at 10-20mph.  We're under a couple alerts today with "Air Quality" being one of them.  Due to the wildfires burning in Nova Scotia (a province of Canada) we're going have a layer of haze and smoke in our sky that will be wafting over us as well as Philadelphia throughout today and tomorrow thanks to the wind direction.  Anyone with breathing issues (young, old, asthmatic folk and the like) should take this alert very seriously.  We're also under a "Rip Current" advisory as the ocean has been experiencing some intense undertow and it's incredibly dangerous to go into the ocean.  Not to mention, there are no lifeguards posted on the beaches yet.  So, you've been advised.
For today's weather expect areas of patchy fog and haze early, more and more peeks of sunshine as the day progresses and temps in the mid-upper 60s with NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy giving way to cloudy skies as temps drop to the upper 50s and NE winds still at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy start becoming partly sunny with temps near 70° and E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  For the weekend... Saturday looks partly to mostly cloudy, temps in the upper 60s and very windy with winds out of the East at 20-30mph.  There's also a 25% chance of rain.  For Sunday... basically looks like a repeat of Saturday.  Until next year May... see ya on the other side!

Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood NJ.  We have a bit of a filtered sun at the moment yet it is mostly sunny with those milky clouds in the mix.  It's breezy with winds out of the E-NE at 20-25mph.  It'll continue to stay breezy as it has been since yesterday.  Today's weather will be a mix of sun and clouds with gusty winds out of the E-NE at 20-30mph +gusting.  Temps will be in the low-mid 60s.  Tonight... mainly clear, temps in the mid-upper 50s and NE winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... another day with a mix of sun and clouds as well as those breezes wafting from where they are now... NE but a bit easier on us at 10-20mph.  There's no rain in the forecast for today or any upcoming days this week.  By the way, it never rained here this Memorial Weekend at all.  All that "rain hype" for nothing.  In fact, it's time to get out there and water the gardens and plants!  In case you're interested... the neighborhoods and streets are once again desolate and like a ghost town.  Another "packed to the gills town" for Wildwood's Memorial Weekend for the books.

Happy Memorial Day

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy with winds out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  Happy Memorial Day.  This day is a tribute to all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and died for our country's freedom.  It's also about remembering the lives of their families and loved ones who suffered their loss the most.  It's been celebrated since 1868. There are ceremonies in both North Wildwood and Wildwood this morning and this afternoon respectively. Today's blog entry is in their honor.

Mornin'!  It's 59° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly.  Winds are out of the NE at 10-15mph.  It's lovely.  I have the windows all open and currently blasting one of  my favorite tunes as loud as it will go... Memorial Weekend!

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  By the looks of my neighborhood, I'd say we're officially into Memorial Weekend.  Visitors abound! So, Happy Memorial Weekend 2023!  And, Happy Friday!  Wildwood New Jersey is up and running.
Ms Sun's also up and greeting the day.  Breezes are light out of the North at 4-6mph.  It's a spectacular morning. Mornin'!  It's 57° in breezy Wildwood NJ.  Breezes are out of the N-NE at 20-25mph.  Did I mention it's cloudy?  Ms Sun's up there but dealing with some thick morning cloud cover as it has been obscuring her grand entrance and sunrise this morning.  It'll be a partly to mostly sunny day with clouds in the mix this morning becoming mostly sunny by the afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-mid 60s with E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... mostly clear, temps around 50° and East winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy, temps in the low-60s and E-NE breezes at 10-15mph.  Saturday... partly sunny, temps in the mid-upper 60s and breezy with E-NE 15-20mph winds.  Sunday... cloudy day, temps in the mid-60s and breezy E-NE at 15-20mph.  Monday... cloudy, upper 60s and not as breezy.  Speaking of breezes... there's a "Small Craft Advisory" posted today until tomorrow morning due to these NE winds.  Conditions of the ocean's swells are hazardous to small craft.  Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.  Oh, and Rip Currents are "high" risk today so if you go into the cold 61° ocean, think twice.  The ocean's pull is dangerously powerful and there are no lifeguards posted on our beaches yet.  Don't go into the drink!

Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood.  Ms Sun's up and shining over the island through hazy cloud cover.  Winds are out of the NE at 5-10mph.  It's a chilly but lovely morning with the calm before the storm (the infiltration of people). Seagulls are laughing everywhere.  Even with the cool temps, most of my windows are slightly cracked open allowing the sea breeze and those gull sounds to waft in.  It'll be mostly sunny today with clouds in the mix and temps in the mid-upper 60s along with NE breezes at 5-10mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy, temps back to the low-50s with S-SW winds shifting to the N-NE at 10-20mph. Sunny Monday

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly.  Breezes are out of the N-NE at 5-10mph.  It's "trash day" and "recycle" day.  All the goods were put at the curb.  All the "weekenders" have left and gone home.  It's quiet again except for the distant sound of the trash trucks, seagulls and island birds. I'm grateful and appreciative for island living and having all the comforts of home after being away for 2 weeks. I've been getting walks and bike rides in each day.  And, even with much damp, rainy weather as of late... shopping, chores, gardening etc have been priority as seasonal preparations are slowly but surely completed. This lovely weather is cooperating perfectly as more gardening is on today's "to-do" list!

Mornin'!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  Winds are out of the NE at 4-6mph.  We're wet as it's still raining after a night of rain; some rainfall was heavy.  We getting good watering that's for sure.  It's going to be "iffy" today with clouds and periods of rain (80-90% chance) on and off throughout the day.  Temps will rise only a few degrees as the weather thermometer should be in the upper 60s.  Winds will be out of the SE at 10-15mph.  Tonight... 60% chance of rain, temps in the upper 50s with S-SW winds shifting to the NW at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy first half of the day with intervals of sunshine in the afternoon, temps near 70° and NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow night... mostly clear, temps around 59° and West winds at 4-6mph.  Monday... sunny, temps near 70° and East winds.  I'd keep my eye on the doppler today and don't forget an umbrella or poncho!

New Moon TGIF!

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  Ms Sun's up and working her butt off to shine through these TGIF morning clouds.  It's those milky clouds everywhere.  Now and then you catch a glimpse of the blue sky when they move aside for streams of sunshine.  Winds are out of the SE at 10-15mph.  It's a lovely, very comfortable morning.  It's an extremely active morning on the island. The feeling of the season commencing is loud and clear.  Contractors and construction everywhere.  Those getting ready... cleaning, landscaping, new builds; re-builds; repairs, restorations etc is happening everywhere.  The sounds of new roofs being hammered, table saws humming, workmen shouting to each other, big trucks traversing the streets around Wildwood has been heard for quite awhile and now with a fever-pitch energy. Not to mention, Pacific Avenue is finally being paved (we had some dirt-sand surface there for a bit) as blacktop is being poured, coated and tar smell has been overtaking the briny sea aroma that's for sure.  Anyway, I'm no exception as my awning installers are coming this morning to secure my canvas awnings for us to enjoy the next 5 months or so.  I just returned from the grocery store to pick up needed items missing from my pantry since pre-vacation clean-out back in the beginning of May. 
Sorry I'm rambling, back to the weather.  It'll be a mix of clouds and sun this morning, finally giving way to a cloudy afternoon.  Temps will only rise a degree or two... maybe mid-60s.  E-SE winds are on board at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly to mostly cloudy with 60% chance of rain beginning overnight.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with East winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow...  40-60% chance of rain at least until noon.  We might see peeks of sunshine by late afternoon.  Temps will be near 70° with East-SE and East-NE winds at 5-10mph.   Sunday looks perfect... sunny, 70° with NW breezes. The New Moon is today as tides will be higher than normal.  If it does rain during high tide, you could see tidal flooding on the Streets.  Be aware of where you park for those low-lying areas. And, if stopping down this weekend, prepare for that slight chance of rain on Saturday. Happy Friday!

Lovely Thursday

Mornin'!  I'm back! It's a chilly 51° in Wildwood NJ.  The sky is bright, vivid blue with not a cloud to be found. The birds and gulls are expressing joy as Ms Sun's shines brightly with breezes out of the E-NE at 10-15mph.  Expect abundant sunshine today with a high of 61° and E-SE breezes at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clouds will be filtering in with partly clear / partly cloudy skies, temps in the mid-50s and E-SE breezes at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy and overcast, temps in the low-mid 60s and E-SE winds at 10-20mph.  We could see rain tomorrow night after 9pm.  The weekend's looking 50/50 with Saturday being possibly wet with 75% chance of rain in the morning and 45% chance in the afternoon; temps in the upper 60s and 10-15mph breezes.  Sunday... partly sunny (clouds in the mix) with a high of 70° and 10-15mph breezes. After 2weeks of being on the road... first driving to Florida to vacation with lifelong friends, then turning around and driving to Georgia to visit our daughter for her birthday and Mother's Day, we made it through 7 States and back again to home sweet home. It was a great, mostly uneventful drive and of course Ferry cruise across the Delaware Bay.  Hubby and I are well-seasoned travelers and even though we spent time on the Gulf coast with 90° temps along with 80° water temps; then warm, high 80° temps just below the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Georgia, it's nice to come home to Spring-like, much cooler temps along the Jersey coast.  I'm happy to report that all went as planned and then some!  We have so much to be thankful for.  It's good to be checking up on Wildwood's weather again!  It won't be long until I go from vacation traveler to watching the vacationers come to our island... Memorial Day is only 11 days away!

Cinco De Mayo - Full Flower Moon

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Cinco De Mayo!  That's Spanish for the "Fifth of May" and is a yearly celebration which commemorates the anniversary of Mexico's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.  It's a Full Moon today... the Full "Flower" Moon.

There's the "Red Bull Beach Scramble" a new event with those off-road vehicles careening on the beach, The Wildwood Crest Borough Yard Sale is tomorrow; The Tournament of Bands competition is this weekend, Morey's opens its Mariners amusement Pier beginning tonight and The Jazz Fest is in Cape May.

Each Day's Better Than The Day Before

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  We had bright, blinding sunshine a half hour ago and now we've got a big cloud that has Ms Sun tucked away at the moment.  There's a lot of blue sky up there... but still feels dim when I glance out the windows.  It'll still be a partly sunny morning with a mix of clouds as well as a few showers developing during the afternoon (30% chance).  Temps will rise to around 58°.  Winds are currently out of the N-NW at 10-15mph and will stay that way until tonight.  Speaking of tonight... a 20% chance of rain showers, partly cloudy, temps back to 48° with S-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny, temps around 58° and East winds at 5-10mph.  Saturday looks nice... sunny, 60° and calm winds.  Sunday... partly sunny, 65° and calm winds.  The Full Moon is tomorrow.

Mornin'!  It's 48° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got just enough cloud cover to make for a stunning sunrise this morning.  Winds are out of the West at 5-10mph.  It's a briny morning with that stronger than normal fishy fragrance in the air.  Everything's wet with morning dew.  These clouds intend to fill in as there's an 80% chance of rain in the forecast today.  We've had quite a damp, raw, chilly week and it looks like today will be no exception. Temps will get into the low-mid 50s with W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... clouds begin to clear with only 20% chance of rain as temps return to the mid-40s and NW winds wift (waft) over the island at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny skies in the morning giving way to cloudy skies by the afternoon.  There's a 25% chance of a rain shower with temps in the upper 50s and N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  As for this weekend... partly to mostly sunny with temps in the low-mid 60s and calm breezes.  The Full Moon is this coming Friday.  It's the "Flower" Moon.

May's In The House

Mornin'!   It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  May's here!  Happy May Day!  Ms Sun's shining brightly over the island's debris.  The sky is clear, bright blue and cloud-free.  After April's last hurrah and stormy weather yesterday and last night, the island's been mildly flooded, washed down and of course covered in branches, leaves and trash.  Lots of lightning and thunder with that one.  Today... a deep breath as we're beginning to clear out.  It'll be sunny this morning as clouds begin to filter in as it'll be a mainly cloudy day with a slight chance of a shower (15% chance) as temps rise into the low-mid 60s and W-SW winds that will still be stiff at 15-25mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, then partly cloudy after midnight.  There's still a chance of a rain shower (25% chance) throughout the evening as temps drop to around 50° with SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... same as today... mostly cloudy, 25% chance of a rain shower, temps in the upper 50 / lower 60s with West winds still stiff at 15-25mph.   The Weather Folk are saying that the rest of the week will be looking like today... partly to mostly cloudy with temps in the upper 50s.  The next completely sunny (cloudless) day looks like (maybe Friday) Saturday.  By the way, the next Full Moon is this coming weekend. Oh... the traffic lights are no longer flashing.  May 1st - "End Of Flashing Traffic Lights". And, May 15th... parking meters are turned on.  No more free parking.  And, Surfside Amusement pier opens Friday May 5th.  Welcome May!
