Mornin'!  It's 41° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 35° with the W-NW winds at 15-20mph.  It's sunny and bright as Ms Sun rose a couple hours ago with not a cloud in the sky.  At the moment, there are some of those wispy clouds cover her every now and then.  It's cold this morning.  The Blog's a bit late as other commitments taking priority this early morning.  For today's weather, it'll be partly to mostly sunny, a few flurries are possible with these clouds that are moving in and out over us.  Temps will be in the low-mid 40s feeling like the mid-30s with those W-NW winds at 15-25mph.  Tonight... December's Here!

Mornin'!  Happy December! For all you December babies... this is your month - Happy Birthday!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feeling like 30° with those N-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Ms Sun's up and shining her bright yellow light over the island. It'll be a sunny first day of December.  Temps will rise into the mid-40s with North winds ramping up even more.  Tonight... partly clear giving way to cloudy skies late into the evening as temps drop back to the mid-upper 30s.  Winds will be much calmer out of the E-SE at 5-10mph.  There's a 25% chance of rain showers overnight.  Tomorrow... temps in the low-50s and East winds shifting from the N-NW at 10-20mph and periods of rain (100% chance). Local heavy rainfall possible with 1-2" of rain.  We might even see tidal flooding due to this week's upcoming Full Moon on Thursday.  The moon is already making our tides look a bit more swollen than normal. You know the drill... be cognizant of where the island floods and high tide times and where you park your vehicle. Don't drive through flood waters.  Okay December... you've already fired up a winter storm headed in this direction.  I'd like to say "Welcome December" but December, January and February are on my list of the "Dreaded Winter Weather" months.  Winter storm "Bellamy" (by the way, Winter's still 20 days away) is now in the Midwest and has potential to be a storm with snow accumulation and ice.  In general, the Northeast, The I95 corridor and up the Hudson Valley from New York City into parts of New England tomorrow could all be in the path of Bellamy.  As for our coast... for now it appears just a rain event. And, like I said... a potential for local heavy rainfall.  You've been notified.

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  It's a lovely morning down the Shore.  We've got a beautifully painted sky with Ms Sun breaking through the cloud cover and light breezes out of the South at 4-7mph.  Those wafts of sea air are filled with salty brine which tap that ol' olfactory sense the minute I opened the back porch door and breath in. Sometimes that's what its all about living here on the coast.  But, keep in mind, it's the calm before the storm so they're saying. Mornin'! It's 54° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's up there at 97% but no rain coming down. Everything's wet and  drippy though from that sea air and moisture. It's supposed to be raining right now but that Cape May "Bubble" seems to be doing its thing.  It's all around us but nothing coming down in Wildwood.  We've got gray sky with winds light out of the S-SW at 5-8mph.  There's still a 40% chance of rain showers this morning along with just cloud cover later this morning.  By the afternoon... Ms Sun will be out.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly clear, temps around 40° with N-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... sunny, temps in the low-mid 50s and West winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow night... clear, temps in the low-40s with NW winds at 10-20mph.  I'd say this weekend is looking A-OK (once this forecast of morning rain today has passed).  In fact, it'll be much nicer this weekend for putting up those outdoor decs as next weekend's looking at least 10° colder maybe even more if that ol' windchill kicks in.  Just saying.  As for Thursday... it's a little far out (I'm not a fan of weather predictions too far in advance), but it's looking good here in Wildwood for turkey day.  For now, the forecast for Thanksgiving is that we'll have a sunny day, temps in the upper 40s and blustery W-NW winds at 15-25mph. Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feels more like 33° with the windchill.  The winds are currently out of the NW at 10-12mph.  It's clear and starlit with a smattering of clouds here and there.  It's still dark but in the black sky, puffs of white are visible.  We're going to have a mix of sun and clouds today but the sunshine will give way to a mostly cloudy day with a 20% chance of a rain shower.  Temps will be in the mid-upper 40s with W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Today just might be the last day this week that we'll see any sunshine; at least until Sunday.  Tonight... rain likely (95% chance), temps in the low-40s and South winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... most likely waking to rain (85% chance) with rain ending in the afternoon and remaining cloudy, temps in the low-50s and NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow night... overcast, temps in the mid-40s with N-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Thursday... another gray day, temps around 50° with N-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Thursday night... cloudy, temps in the upper 40s and very light breezes. Friday and Saturday look like washouts as rain is in their forecasts. Mornin'!  Happy Veterans Day.  Today is a federal holiday dedicated to honoring all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, in times of war or peace.  It is a day to show appreciation for their patriotism, courage, and sacrifice with a particular focus on thanking living veterans.  Thank You for your service to my dear husband and to all of the Vets out there reading this.

Winter's-A-Knocking

Mornin'!  It's 53° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 49° with the NW winds at 10-15mph.  Humidity's 83% due to the overnight rains as well as the light shower we're having at the moment.  It's one of those typical dreary Mondays.  We're kicking off the day and week with clouds and light rains as it becomes very windy (W-NW at 20-30mph +gusting).  By midday we should see peeks of sun as the temperature drops into the upper 40s.  By evening, partly clear, with temps dropping into the upper-30s feeling like mid-20s due to the W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Winter will be knocking on the front door tonight!  Nothing like the midwest and upper-midwest which is truly getting Winter temps and weather especially with that lake-effect snow.  We're not quite there yet.

Saturday will be sunny with temps in the low-60s and West winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Saturday night... mostly clear with some clouds, temps in the upper 40s and W-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Sunday... partly cloudy, temps near 60° and West winds at 5-10mph.  Sunday night... partly clear, temps near 50° and winds light and variable.  It's always incredibly hard to turn your back on perfect summer weather in the Keys.  But coming home to angry, blustery, wet, "slap you in the face" really harsh weather really does suck.  Not to mention that my house furnace failed to fire up but thankfully I've got a little gas fireplace that was just the ticket for taking the damp chill out of the house.  I'm back!  And, just in time for some Halloween mischief!

The Nor'easter's Beginning To Head Out

Mornin'!  It's 60° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 93% with a 59° dewpoint.  This Columbus Day Nor'easter created some havoc on Wildwood with flooding and winds.  Right now the tide is low and the flood waters have once again receded.  The winds are out of the North at 20-25mph +gusting and it's currently not raining.  We're supposed to have periods of rain today (60% chance) with temps in the upper 60s and North winds at 25-35mph +gusting. Tonight... occasional light rain falling early in the evening (80% chance) remaining cloudy and windy late into the night.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with North winds at 15-20mph +gusting.  Tuesday... cloudy with temps in the mid-60s and North winds at 20-30mph +gusting. Tuesday night... cloudy start with peeks of sunshine late in the day or at least by sundown.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with North winds at 10-15mph.  And, just like that... Ms Sun returns Wednesday with winds out of the N-NW at 10-20mph and temps near 70°.  How 'bout that?

Sunday And Monday Coastal Storm

Mornin'!  It's 66° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 84% with a dewpoint of 62°.  We're under a Coastal Flood and Wind Warning.  It's not raining yet (currently just misty) but the rain's just about to hit the coast.  The winds are certainly part of this morning's very noisy weather drama... 30-35mph +gusting out of the E-NE.  The tides are currently "low" so there's no flood water in the streets "yet".  Expect a windy and rainy day with temps in the upper 60s and NE winds at 25-40mph +gusting.  Chance of rain is 100% beginning any time now.  Tonight... windy with rain, temps in the low-60s and N-NE winds at 25-40mph +gusting.  Chance of rain is 80%.  Tomorrow... windy with morning showers evolving to a steady, soaking rain (70% chance), temps in the upper 60s and N-NE winds a 25-35mph +gusting.  Tomorrow night... steady rain, temps in the upper 50s and North winds at 20-30mph +gusting. For the Coastal Flood Warning... 2-3 feet of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas and surrounding tidal waterways from 8AM this morning to 8PM Monday.  If you're not prepared, time's running out.  Secure outside items as the winds and flood waters will have their way with them.  There's always the chance of losing power so have your electronics charged, a supply of batteries, candles, lanterns etc.  Flood waters are imminent... do not go out and drive around in these salt waters as they will damage the undercarriage of your vehicle as well as create wakes which will damage any properties you drive by.  Speaking of vehicles... find that higher ground on the island near you as there are parts of the island that normally do not flood so park it there.  Know your low-lying areas and know your high tide times.  The ocean's high tide is an hour before the bay/marsh side of the island's high tide times.  Be Safe.  Be careful and be Smart!

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 84% with a dewpoint of 59°.  Winds are currently out of the East at 5-10mph.  There's a Nor'eastern headed our way.  I'll get back to that.  Today will be a mostly cloudy day but bright as Ms Sun could make it through some breaks. They're saying a few showers off and on this afternoon (30% chance). Temps just about tapping 70° and East winds beginning to ramp up at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tonight... beginning to feel the storm knocking with 70% chance of rain with winds ramping up from the E-NE at 25-35mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... rain (90% chance) and wind with the potential for heavy rainfall, temps in the mid-upper 60s and NE winds at 25-35mph +gusting. Rainfall will be around a half an inch.  Tomorrow night... cloudy with periods of rain (70% chance), temps around 60° with N-NE winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  Monday... rain (70% chance) with windy conditions (North at 25-35mph +gusting), temps in the mid-60s.  Monday night... cloudy with showers (50% chance), temps in the upper 50s and North winds finally simmering down at 15-25mph.  Tuesday... cloudy and windy in the morning, becoming partly sunny by the afternoon, temps in the upper 60s and North winds at 20-25mph.  Tuesday night... partly cloudy, temps in the upper 50s and North winds at 10-20mph.
 
It's time to make storm preparations. 
~Secure everything outside... trashcans, porch/deck furniture, planters
~Move vehicles to higher ground
~Prepare for power outages... have candles or battery operated laterns ready, have all electronics charged
~Know you tides especially "high" tide times, remember the high tide at the ocean side of the island is an hour before the back/marsh side of the island
~Expect flooded streets and roads, and whatever you do... don't drive through flood waters.  The island's a "No Wake" zone but some of those big pick-up truck drivers don't seem to get it
~Stay Safe and play it smart
