Mornin'! It's 78° in Wildwood NJ. It's the end of another month which flew by in my opinion. See ya next year June. This last day of June will be a hazy, hot and humid Sunday with temps tapping 90°. This morning feels fairly warm already even with that big storm we had early last evening. We got pummeled with extreme rains and winds as it thankfully didn't put us in a flooding situation. No damage to report from the winds either. At least I don't have to water the gardens today. There's sun pouring down now with humidity at 75% and dewpoint at 69° with winds out of the W-NW at 8-12mph. The humidity will drop down today to 40-50% as winds pick up out of the W-NW at 15-25mph. Tonight will be clear with temps back down into the low-mid 70s and Northerly breezes even stiffer at 20-25mph simmering down to 15-20mph late tonight. Tomorrow... same as today but not as hot. And, it's a "new moon" tomorrow so expect much higher and lower tides. The back bay (marsh side) tides of the island is always an hour later than the ocean side tides. If going to the beach, pack accordingly with footwear, insect repellent (West winds), bungee cord or sand gripper for the beach umbrella (it's gonna get windy) and plenty of Sunscreen.

Hazy Hot And Humid Saturday
Mornin'! It's 80° in Wildwood NJ. It's sunny and still (no breezes to note). Humidity's at 73% with a 72° dewpoint. It'll be warm this last weekend in June with plentiful sunshine and warm temperatures. Expect temps in the low-90s with Ms Sun simmering the island. SW winds at 8-13mph will begin later this morning. There's a 40% chance of scattered showers or passing thunderstorm this afternoon (after 3pm). Tonight... 30% chance of an isolated thunderstorm with temps in the low-mid 70s and breezes out of the West at 6-10mph. Tomorrow... mostly sunny and warm (possibly tapping 90° again) with NW winds. Pack that insect repellent! Don't forget footwear. And, keep your eye on the sky (doppler)!

Happy Friday!
Mornin'! It's 79° in Wildwood NJ. It's sunny, warm and humid. We have a dewpoint of 69° and the humidity's 72%. Breezes are not there. It's very still and quiet. It'll be sunny with some clouds in the mix today. It's being reported that temps will get into the mid-80s and since yesterday got up to 92°, I'm not going to be surprised to see that again. It was hot yesterday and today looks like a repeat. Winds will begin later this morning out of the S-SW and shift by mid-day out of the S-SE (thankfully) all at 5-10mph. Those West winds are hot land breezes and bring the biting flies. Hubby and I made dinner and took it to the beach last evening and it was a stunner. However, the flies were enjoying their dinner too (us) so out came the insect repellent. We wound up staying until almost 8p.m. If you've never experienced a summer evening on the beach, it's quite remarkable.
For today... it looks like a more pleasant (still hot though) day with a light Southeast breeze (cooler, more refreshing off the water). There is a chance of a stray thunderstorm this afternoon so keep your eye on the sky (and doppler). Tonight... more of that chance (20%) of a stray thunderstorm with partly cloudy skies. Temps will head down to the low-mid 70s with S-SW breezes at 5-10mph. The weekend's looking 5-Star with sunny, warm conditions and breezes coming from the SW (remember the insect repellent).

Friday Beach Tips and Beach Etiquette...
~Important things to pack for the beach... water, (I also have a small spray bottle of fresh water for you never know what), hat, footwear, towel, sunblock, insect repellent, first aid kit, and shade (umbrella or sand chair with a canopy), something to read and I enjoy taking my crocheting, oh... and a small trash bag to collect any trash you may have accumulated while there.
~When planting an umbrella be aware of wind speed as you may have to take extra steps to secure it such as sand (screw) grabber or bungee cord. It's pretty amazing how not secure some umbrellas can be as the wind launches them directly toward unknowing folks relaxing right in the line of fire.
~Note the tide times when going to the beach. If the tide is at it's highest, you can sit as close to the water as you want as the tide will take the entire day to go down to low tide. You'll literally sit and watch the beach grow as the water slowly recedes a block or more away.

~A new beach posting is there's "No Smoking" on the beach anymore. That includes "vapes" and especially "cigars". There's also "No Smoking" on the boardwalk. I think most of the seaside towns up and down the coast have passed this new law.
~Kindly give your beach neighbors space when selecting your beach campsite. Courtesy is key. Careful not to plop only inches from others' blankets/umbrellas.
~No dogs allowed on the beach (except for the wonderful dog beaches the Wildwoods provide).
~No dogs allowed on the beach (except for the wonderful dog beaches the Wildwoods provide).
~Never leave trash on the beach and even better yet...pick up any that you see whether it's yours or not. Note trash and recycle containers are situated everywhere.
~Remember to pack headphones for your music device or at least keep the volume down to a minimum (believe it or not no one really wants to hear your music not to mention your beach neighbor just might be quietly trying to listen to their own music).
~Teach children beach etiquette. Running (basically "kicking" up sand) as well as throwing sand is a no-brainer but sometimes you'd never know it.
~Feeding the seagulls is a big no-no. Eat and snack smartly. Using hands to express oneself when holding your sandwich up or out is a magnet for swooping gulls. Dropping one potato chip carelessly while eating will create seagull havoc. Eat under your umbrella or hooded sand chair as the seagulls are much like vultures and are endlessly eyeing beachgoers eating habits. They're relentless trying to find the right opportune moment to swoop down and pluck your lunch right out of your hand or mouth (seen it happen many times). By the way, seagulls know "chip bags" and if they see one sticking out of your unsupervised beach bag, they will think nothing of helping themselves and remove the bag of chips from your bag as well as share their newly acquired snacks with their gull friends while you're taking a walk or a dip (seen it happen many times).
~Playing ball, frisbee, horseshoes, corn hole, or kite-flying etc is a no-no at the beach. I mean on the back side of the beach (dune side) or other designated areas are more appropriate for active beach games. Stay away from those camped out that are simply trying to enjoy their beach day. The beach patrol will probably stop you if playing in the wrong area anyway.
~Shake towels and blankets away from others noting the wind direction.
~Observe and follow posted beach warnings (closed beaches, no alcohol, strong rip currents, surfboard/boogie board area etc) and always pay attention to lifeguards. If in doubt...ask the lifeguard.
~Couresty is key. Be kind to one another. Happy Beaching!

Lovely Day Out There Today
Mornin'! It's 76° in Wildwood NJ. I just came inside from enjoying and watering the gardens. When I first went out (40 minutes ago) the temp was 73°. It's sunny and warm and the "temperature's rising" (in the words of the Weather Girls). There's not much in the line of breezes but they're coming a bit later. It'll be a nice summer day with plenty of sunshine and temps in the mid (maybe "upper") 80s. Breezes will be out of the N-NW at 10-15mph and shift by later afternoon from the W-SW at the same speed. It seems that the winds always shift (more off the cool ocean rather than across the land and beach) late in the day (and feels remarkable I might add). Tonight... a clear, starlit evening with temps in the low-70s and breezes out of the W-SW at 5-10mph. Tomorrow looks like a repeat of today!

Unsettled First Half Of The Day
Mornin'! It's 71° in Wildwood NJ. We've got cloudy, breezy conditions this morning. S-SW winds are wifting (wafting) over the island at 10-15mph. It'll be an unsettled start to the day with cloud cover this morning and a 50% chance of rain and/or thunderstorms. It should clear up and be a mostly sunny afternoon with temps rising to low-mid 80s with an increase in humidity (80%) and winds out of the SW at 10-20mph. Tonight... mix of clouds and stars, humidity back down into the 60-70% range, temps in the low 70s and breezes shifting from the NW at 5-10mph. Tomorrow... sunny, not as breezy and in the mid-80s.

Partly Sunny Monday
Mornin'! It's 69° in Wildwood NJ. It's sunny with light breezes out of the SW at 6-10mph. We've had our share of a nice stretch of weather recently which will continue into today. Expect a mostly sunny day (with increasing clouds in the mix today) as temps get up in the upper 70s / low 80s with breezes out of the South at 12-15mph. Tonight... more clouds roll on in with a 60% chance of a scattered shower or thunderstorm. Temps will drop down to the low 70s with winds out of the South at 10-15mph. Chances are we will have rain on the overnight and wake to rain showers tomorrow morning but a warmer and mostly sunny day will eventually develop.

The Beauty Continues
Mornin'! It's 67° in Wildwood NJ. Ms Sun's up and warming us already. The breeze is light out of the N-NW at 6-8mph. It's 58% humidity and feeling just right. The birds of the island are expressing their joy with chirps, squawks, and whistles everywhere outside. All windows are open allowing that sea air inside the house and the beauty continues. Even though it was a tad windy on the beach yesterday, it was lovely. At least until around 3p.m. when the family with the boom box came and shared their music preferences as loud as they could giving us the high sign to pack it up and head home. I was going to ask that they lower Jimmy Buffet but we were ready to head back home to our wonderful outdoor shower and feel the refreshment of a day on the beach. And it'll continue and be another pleasant sunny day with temps tapping 80°, 57% humidity, winds out of the W-NW, then W-SW then finally SW by this evening all at 7-10mph. Tonight... clear skies, upper 60s/low 70s and S-SW breezes at 9-12mph. I failed to mention that these West winds in the mix yesterday and today do bring the biting greenhead flies and they were waiting for us at the beach. Remember to pack insect repellent when you see any "west" winds in the forecast. It wasn't too bad but enough for hubby to pull out the repellent and it worked thankfully. Speaking of "thanks"... thank you for another beauty down the Shore!

It's the Summer Solstice!
Mornin'! It's 72° in Wildwood NJ. Happy Summer! Today ends Spring as the next season of fun in the sun at the Shore is officially upon us! It's the longest day of the year in the Northern hemisphere as the sun gets no further north in the Earth's sky. Summer officially begins at 11:54 this morning.
It'll be a fairly nice day down the Shore today. Expect breezy, mostly clear conditions. There's a slight chance of a passing isolated thunderstorm later this morning (30% chance). Winds are currently out of the West at 15-20mph and will ramp up a little later this morning out of the W-NW at 18-22mph. It looks blustery right into this evening. Tonight... mostly clear with temps down to the low-70s and NW winds at 10-15mph. The weekend's still looking A-OK with plenty of sunshine and warmish temps with breezes not as stiff as today. Until Next Year Spring...
Mornin'! It's 71° under sunny skies (some clouds in the morning mix) with breezes out of the S-SW at 9-11mph. It's muggy with 97% humidity. As we say "au revoir" to Springtime today it'll be a little unsettled in the weather department. Expect a mostly sunny/hazy first half of the day with milky clouds rolling in this afternoon producing a chance of scattered rain showers and/or storms (50% chance). We could see areas of fog. Temps will be tapping the 80s with S-SW winds at 10-15mph. Tonight... 70% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms with the possibility of gusty winds and heavy rain. Temps will drop into the upper 60s with misty/foggy conditions on the overnight. SW winds will ramp up at 15-20mph. We may wake to summer with showers (before 8am) as it should be mostly sunny tomorrow and high near 80°. The weekend's still looking A-OK! Until we meet again Spring!

Unsettled Humpday
Mornin'! It's 71° in Wildwood NJ. We're under gray, cloud cover with not enough breeze to mention. There's 95% humidity in the air as everything's damp and drippy from last night's rain. We had a few thunder boomers late last evening into the overnight. It'll be mostly cloudy today (possible peeks of sunshine too) with a stray shower and/or thunderstorm possible. Temps will get into the upper 70s with Southerly breezes at 10-15mph and by this afternoon switch from the S-SE. Tonight... still cloudy with a 40% chance of rain showers and/or thunderstorms. Breezes will be out of the South at 7-9mph with temps in the low 70s. Tomorrow... more unsettled weather with passing rain showers in the forecast again. We'll definitely see peeks of sunshine as the humidity remains high for another day. At this time, the first weekend of summer is looking 5-star with plenty of sunshine and low humidity with temps in the 70s. Two more days until Summer!

Tuesday Mix
Mornin'! It's 71° in Wildwood NJ We're under a partly cloudy sky as Ms Sun is trying her best to glow through all that morning haze. Not much in breezes. It seems we're going to have a mix of clouds and peeks of sun with scattered showers and thunderstorms in today's forecast. Expect partial sunshine with some cloudiness early with 40% chance of rain showers and/or thunderstorms by this afternoon. Temps will be in the upper 70s (possibly low 80s) with humidity high (80-90%). Breezes will eventually come from the S-SW at 10-15mph. Tonight... thunderstorms and showers likely (80% chance) with temps in the upper 60s / low 70s and winds out of the SW at 10-15mph. We're still feeling the effects of yesterday's full moon so be conscientious of where your vehicle is in the event of any street flooding due to any local heavy rainfall. Some areas on the island are extremely low-lying and will without question flood if rain is heavy and it's near high-tide. Tomorrow looks to be mostly cloudy with rain likely off and on throughout the day (50-70% chance).
Yesterday was my first official beach day since last summer. I'm talking trekking the beach cart, blanket, towels, my book, my crocheting, suntan lotion, sand chairs, umbrella, and cooler w/lunch and beverages to the beach. Hubby and I were there for just over 4 hours. And it was 5-Star. The weather was perfect with hazy sunshine in the blue sky. The ocean was cool but not cold. There was hardly a sea-breeze (just enough to make it feel refreshing). My beach umbrella helped immensely as the shade along with that light breeze was pure perfection. I noticed that the soft white sand leading to the water is already heating up and folks without footwear were struggling with burning feet as they were running to cooler sand making their presence known. Don't forget that footwear! Happy Beaching!

Full "Strawberry" Moon Monday
Mornin'! It's 74° in Wildwood NJ. Ms Sun's up and warming the island already. Not much in cloud cover and not much in breezes (Westerly 6-8mph). What a difference a day makes. Expect a partly sunny / partly cloudy day with temps tapping 80°. West winds will eventually become Southerly winds by this afternoon all at 5-8mph. There is a 30% chance of scattered thunderstorms this afternoon. Tonight... mostly cloudy with an 80% chance of rain (that includes thunderstorms) as temps drop down into the upper 60s. SW winds will be 5-10mph. Tomorrow looks to be cloudier and not quite as warm but still has the chance of scattered thunderstorms in its forecast. Also, with tonight's cloud cover, there's no guarantee that we'll see the Full Moon rise tonight but it will the "Strawberry" moon named that because of strawberry gathering season. Oh... and the tides will be higher due to the full moon and with the potential threat of rain tonight... be aware of tidal flooding. Don't drive through flood waters.

Lovely Blustery Saturday
Mornin'! It's 68° in Wildwood NJ. It's sunny and bright with hardly a breeze wifting (wafting) over the island (SW 3-5mph). Expect a mix of clouds and sun today as gusty winds develop by this afternoon. Temps will be in the mid-70s with S-SW winds at 20-30mph +gusting. Tonight... partly cloudy, temps in the mid-60s and more of those gusty winds that will diminish after midnight. Winds will still be out of the S-SW at 20-30mph then to 15-20mph. Tomorrow... a little less cloudy with temps in the mid-upper 70s and rain coming in by the evening hours. The island is loaded with activities this weekend. The ALS Bike Ride is beginning as I type. The Jeep Invasion is here. The American Legion folk are here. Drum and Bugle competitors are in town. The WW Farmers Market is setting up to open this morning as it does every Saturday morning. And, the Wildwood Seafood and Wine Festival is the weekend. Like I said... "loaded wtih activities"!

Riding The Weather Wave
Mornin'! It's 63° in Wildwood NJ. It's sunny with a light breeze out of the NE at 3-5mph. The sea air has filled the house with all the windows still opened from yesterday afternoon and last night's beautiful weather. The birds are happy and chirping and squawking all over the neighborhood. It's a perfectly lovely morning down the shore. Expect clouds to roll in later this morning as it'll become overcast and cloudy later (sometime during the afternoon). Temps will get up into the low 70's with winds out of the E-NE at 10-20mph. Tonight... cloudy with rain developing after midnight. Temps will drop down to where they are now (low-mid 60s) along with stiff Easterly breezes at 15-25mph. It'll rain overnight (100% chance) into tomorrow. It looks like a mostly gray, wet day tomorrow and tomorrow night. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are looking pretty damn good though! At this time... nice weekend ahead for all the Fathers out there!

Gray Morning / Sunny Afternoon
Mornin'! It's 67° in Wildwood NJ. It's raining lightly as it has been throughout most of the night. Everything's had a nice watering thanks to Mother Nature. No need to unwind that hose today! Winds are out of the NW at 15-17mph. The rains will continue for a little while longer this morning as it'll eventually become clear probably late this morning / early afternoon. Ms Sun will make check-in as temps will be in the mid-upper 70s. Winds will continue out of the NW with gusting as high as 30mph. Tonight... mostly clear with temps in the low-mid 60s and North winds at 8-10mph gusting as high as 20mph. Tomorrow looks mostly sunny with showers coming in the evening again. Thursday looks rainy but at this time Friday looks beautiful. Father's Day weekend (although a bit too early to be sure) is looking beautiful as well. The Full Moon is next Monday by the way.

Gray and Damp Monday
Mornin'! It's 66° in Wildwood NJ. It's cloudy and misty with E-SE breezes at 10-12mph. Everything's damp and drippy from overnight drizzles and mist. With all this cloud cover and fog, the roar of the ocean's waves crashing onshore is loud and clear from 6+ blocks away. Expect fog and clouds early, then the possibility of off and on rain showers this afternoon. Temps will get into the low-mid 70s with S-SE breezes at 10-15mph. Chance of rain is 50%. Tonight... still lots of cloud cover with a 70% chance of showers and/or scattered thunderstorms. Temps will drop back into the mid-upper 60s with S-SW winds at 10-20mph. Tomorrow... starts out like today but by the afternoon... you guessed it... peeks of sunshine! Enjoy it as we're not going to see much of Ms Sun this week as she takes a hiatus from shining. After tomorrow afternoon, it looks like Friday will be the next totally sunny day.

Saturday Festivities Down The Shore
Mornin'! It's 63° in Wildwood NJ. It's foggy, misty and drippy. Everything's soaked from the overnight heavy fog and mist. It sounds like it's raining outside but it just the cloud that's sitting on the island. Breezes are stiff out of the NE at 12-17mph. It'll be a mostly gray and breezy day with misty conditions and winds out of the E-NE at 15-25mph. We'll probably see sun shining through by this afternoon as temps climb up just a bit to 70°. Tonight... 65°, cloudy with 20% chance of a passing shower and breezes out of the East at 17-25mph. Tomorrow... more grayness with 40% chance of rain and of course still windy. Monday... a washout. Wish I had better weather news. The Saturday Farmers Market is this morning in Wildwood along with the Mummers who are in town parading in North Wildwood along with the Elks convention and parade and lest not forget the Wildwood Annual Beer Fest are all in the lineup for the weekend's activities! Lots happening this mix of clouds and sun, cooler and breezy weekend in the Wildwoods!

Mostly Gray Friday
Mornin'! It's 69° in Wildwood NJ. It's overcast with Ms Sun trying her best to shine through the cloud cover. Breezes are currently very light out of the NE at 5-7mph. It'll be a mix of weather today... sun and clouds with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the E-NE at 9-11mph. Tonight... mostly cloudy with temps in the mid-upper 60s and E-NE breezes at 7-10mph. The weekend's looking "eh". The Philly weather person said it'll be gorgeous down the Shore but I beg to differ. She had it wrong in my opinion. Saturday will be mostly cloudy with peeks of sun as well as very windy... 20-22mph breezes. Sunday will have 40% chance of rain in the morning and 60% chance in the evening. It'll also be very windy on Sunday. I can just see all the Philly folk listening to their wrong Shore weather forecast then packing their bikinis and tank tops in the bags to travel to the coast prepared to lather on the suntan lotion and bake in the sun thanks to their meteorologist. Well, pack a hoodie and an umbrella!

The 75th Anniversary of D-Day
Mornin'! It's 68° in Wildwood NJ. No breezes to note. It's mostly clear with a leftover morning haze as Ms Sun's just beginning to share her glow.
Today is the anniversary of D-Day as we commemorate those storming the shores of Normandy France today with over 4,000 giving their lives during this attack.
There was some major rainfall and watering last night as Cape May County was under a storm watch from dinner time until bedtime. Lots of watering those plants and gardens outside done by Mother Nature which I'm very grateful for. It's a somewhat hazy/cloudy start to the day with eventual plentiful sunshine and temps tapping the 80s. Breezes will be out of the West at 8-10mph. Tonight... some cloud cover with temps in the low 70s and N-NW breezes at 3-5mph. The weekend's now looking partly sunny/partly cloudy with strong winds.

Another Near Perfect Day!
Mornin'! It's 57° in Wildwood NJ. It's the anniversary of moving to Wildwood from Philadelphia today... 15 years ago! There's a light breeze out of the N-NW winds at 7-9mph. It's crisp and feels a bit like an autumn morning. Since I had left most of the windows open in the house before turning in last night, it feels a bit chilly this morning. It's all good as Ms Sun is blazing through the front windows and beginning the warm-up as I blog. It'll be a pleasant day with plentiful sunshine and temps in the low-mid 70s with breezes out of the W-NW at 8-10mph. Tonight... some clouds roll in as it'll be partly cloudy with temps in the low-mid 60s and S-SW breezes at 7-9mph. Tomorrow... cloudier and warmer (tapping 80°).

Sunny Monday
Mornin'! It's 64° in Wildwood NJ. Breezes are out of the N-NW at 7-9mph. Ms Sun's up and once again dealing with those leftover clouds along the horizon. Once they drift on out as she rises, it'll be a sunny Monday. Today will be another lovely, pleasant Spring day down the shore. Temps will be in the low-mid 70s with breezes out of the NW at 10-17mph. Tonight... clear with temps in the low 60s (possibly upper 50s) with W-NW breezes at 8-11mph. It's a New Moon (barely visible with the effects of a Full Moon) today and the Tides will certainly be higher and lower than normal.

Repeat of Yesterday
Mornin'! It's 67° in Wildwood NJ. Ms Sun's up and shining along while those milky clouds that are trying to obscure her. Breezes are very light out of the SW at 2-4mph. The island birds are all expressing their pleasure as all the chirping and squawking is coming in my opened windows! It's lovely! Expect a mix of clouds and sun today much like yesterday. Temps will be in the upper 70s (maybe tapping 80°). There's a 30% chance of a severe stray thunderstorm late this afternoon / early evening. Winds are nothing now but will ramp up significantly later this afternoon as well... out of the S-SW at 10-20mph. Tonight... partly cloudy with temps in the low-mid 60s and another chance (40%) of a scattered thunderstorm. Winds will be out of the W-NW at 10-20mph. Keep your eye on the sky today!

June's Here!
Mornin'! It's 69° in Wildwood NJ. Welcome June! Hopefully, this month of summer will provide just what we need... sunshine and warmth with a sprinkling of rain to water our plants. Summer's just 20 days away! It's officially "hurricane season" I'm not happy to report but it is what it is (and it's here until November unfortunately). For this first weekend in June, expect partly sunny / partly cloudy skies. Ms Sun's trying her best to shine down this morning but those heavy, milky clouds are keeping her tucked away as I type. It appears it'll be like this throughout the day with temps in the low-mid 70s and breezes out of the E-NE then switching by this afternoon all at 5-8mph. At the moment... no breezes to note. Tonight... partly cloudy with temps in the low-mid 60s and breezes out of the S-SE at 2-4mph. Tomorrow and repeat of today but with a 40-50% chance of rain and/or thunderstorms by the evening. Oh... and the "new moon" is Monday so we'll probably be seeing higher and lower tides this weekend.
