Humpday Snow Showers On Tap

This Morning's Webcam Shot - North WW
Mornin'!  It's 20° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feeling more like 9° with the NW winds at 10-15mph.  We're under some ominous cloud cover as Ms Sun rises.  She's due up in only  minutes from now and is painting the sky all kinds of purples and reds along the horizon line.  I cringe when I see that reddish sky in the morning as we all know what that could mean... "Sailors take warning".  It'll be a partly to mostly cloudy day with a high of 29° and NW winds at 10-15mph making it feel more like 19°.  There's a 30% chance of on and off snow showers or flurries (possibly beginning this afternoon) with temps in the low-20s and North winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy with 20% chance of snow flurries or snow showers, gusty winds at 20-30mph out of the N-NW, temps will be in the upper 20s feeling more like 12° thanks to the windchill.  Tomorrow night... cloudy and windy; temps around 24° and NW winds still blustery at 20-30mph +gusting making it feel like the teens.  Friday the sunshine returns but the winds aren't going anywhere. Saturday... sunny, temps in the mid-30s and much calmer winds.  Sunday... sunny, temps tapping 40° and calm winds.

Maybe Snow Coming / Maybe Not So Much

Mornin'!  It's 28° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 11° with those NW winds at 20-25mph +gusting.  We're under some cloud cover yet I can see stars in parts of the sky here and there. There are more clouds on the back side of the island it seems.  Ms Sun hasn't risen on the ocean side but the sky is becoming brighter and more colorful thanks to the sun's rays beneath the horizon line.  It feels brutally cold but I'm sure other parts of our nation are much colder.  Those gusty winds are contributing big time.  We're going to have a mix of sun and clouds today with gusty winds the first half of the day.  Temps will get into the low-30s with W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting making it feel like 19°.  Tonight... clear to partly clear with temps around 18° and NW winds at 10-20mph making it feel like the single digits.  Tomorrow... maybe some snowfall heading our way and maybe just a slight coating.  It'll be overcast and gray with snow showers or flurries.  Temps will be in the upper 20s with NW winds at 10-15mph and it'll feel like the temperature is in the teens.  Tomorrow night... cloudy with snow flurries or showers possible (25% chance) as we could see a dusting or up to an inch of snow before turning in. Temps will be in the low-20s with North winds at 10-15mph.  It could possibly (60% chance) snow throughout the night into Thursday (providing another inch of snow) and as we wake... cloudy with gusty winds (what else is new), snow flurries or snow showers will still be checked in (60% chance) in the morning and early afternoon. We could see an inch of snow before it tapers off and checks out around 1-2pm.  Temps will be near 30° and N-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Thursday night... decreasing cloudiness as it'll be partly cloudy, still very windy (NW at 20-30mph +gusting) and temps back into the low-mid 20s feeling much colder with that windchill.

Presidents Day

This Morning's Webcam Shot - North WW
Mornin'!  Happy Presidents Day! It's 33° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 19° with the W-NW winds at 30-35mph +gusting.  Whew... what a night!  The winds won't quit as they've been pounding the island since yesterday afternoon.  They'll continue to do so right through till Wednesday when the next winter Storm arrives.  Earplugs along with a pillow over my head just doesn't seem to be the solution for a decent night's sleep as the gusting sounding more like a high speed train barreling down my street that kept waking me.  It's clear and bright this morning as Ms Sun's up and has not a cloud in her way.  Expect a sunny day with gusty winds and temps in the upper 30s feeling more like the mid-20s.  Winds will be out of the W-NW at 25-35mph +gusting over 50mph.  Tonight... clear, temps in the low 20s feeling like 12° with those W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny with a few clouds from time to time, temps in the upper 20s feeling like 17° and W-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting up to 40mph.  Tomorrow night... clear, temps around 20° feeling more like 10° with NW winds at 20-25mph +gusting.  Wednesday... the next storm arrives.  Expect snow flurries throughout the day, temps in the upper 20s feeling the mid-teens and NW winds at 10-20mph.  Wednesday night... snow showers, temps in the low-20s feeling like 18° with N-NW winds at 15-20mph.  Snow accumulation: about an inch.  Thursday... snow showers in the morning, temps around 30°, NW winds at 20-30mph.  Snow accumulation: about an inch.  Thursday night... cloudy, temps in the low-20s feeling like 11°, NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  At this time, I haven't found any forecast for this next storm that is committing to much in snow accumulation.  Initially I heard heavy snowfall for over 24 hours but everything I've researched say only an inch or two.  One thing's for certain... March is 11 days away and has been rearing its very ugly head.  It's known for its outrageous non-stop winds here on the coast.  And, we've been currently getting quite a sneak preview.  Oh... Spring is 30 days away!

Rainy, Windy Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 44° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels more like 38° with those Southerly winds at 10-15mph.  We're currently under wet, foggy, misty conditions with a light wind driven rain at the moment.  We're going to have periods of rain today (100% chance) with thunder possible along with incredibly windy conditions.  The winds will ramp up out of the S-SW at 25-35mph +gusting up to 60mph and creating serious havoc. Hunker down!  Tonight... 30% chance of rain with temps dropping to 30° with those extreme windy conditions continuing out of the West at 25-35mph +gusting up to 60mph.  It's going feel like the low-20s. Tomorrow... mostly sunny, temps in the upper 30s and West winds at 30-35mph+ gusting and still feeling like the low-20s.  Tomorrow night... clear, temps around 20° feeling like the teens and West winds at 15-20mph +gusting up to 35mph.  Tuesday... mostly sunny, temps in the low-30s and West winds at 10-15mph. and still trying to be gusty.  I swear March is rearing its very ugly head.  March is my #1 least favorite month as the main reason is the windy, blustery conditions  that it never fails to deliver.  We're about to see what March is all about beginning this afternoon into the next few days.  While we're at "the next few days", yesterday I updated my blog entry after dinner and promised to keep you posted on a winter storm headed our way this coming mid-week.  Wednesday... cloudy with snow showers by the afternoon, temps in the upper 20s and N-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Snow accumulation about an inch.  Wednesday night... cloudy, snowfall of 3-5" with temps in the low-20s and North winds at 10-20mph.  Thursday... snow in the first half of the day.  Snow accumulation... another 3-5" with temps in the upper 20s and NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Thursday night... snow is out of here as it'll be cloudy, temps in the low-20s and NW winds at 10-20mph.  It seems no one is actually committing to this upcoming snowstorm as for trajectory or the amount of snow we could get.  I'll just keep watching and passing the info on to you.

Today's Webcam Shot - North WW
Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 31° with those SE winds at 8-11mph.  We've got heavy cloud cover.  It seems Ms Sun missed her opportunity to shine this morning.  It looks like we're going to kick off a cloudy day with clouds and periods of rain beginning this afternoon.  Temps will rise into the low-40s with S-SE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... more rain, temps around 40° and South winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... showers kicking off the day, steady rain by the afternoon, temps in the upper 50s and windy with S-SW winds at 30-40mph +gusting.  Strap in.  Tomorrow night... mostly clear, temps in the low-30s and West winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  Monday... mostly clear with some clouds from time to time, temps in the upper 30s (feeling like 26°) and W-NW winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  Monday night... partly cloudy, temps in the mid-20s (feeling like 16°) and gusty winds out of the W-NW at 20-30mph +gusting.  33 days until Spring.

I'm logging on at 6PM to just put it out there that a major winter storm is heading here Wednesday afternoon.  Due to the low temps Wednesday afternoon and evening... 20s, it'll be snow this time; not rain.  I'm sorry to report that according to my research, it'll continue to snow in Wildwood until Thursday night around 7pm.  It'll be snowing approximately 28 hours.  We're looking at the possibility of anywhere from 10-12 inches at this time.  It could possibly be more.  I'm glued on and off to the weather on updated reports and will keep you posted.

Ms Sun Peeking In Possibly This Afternoon

Mornin'!  It's 43° in Wildwood NJ.  It's feeling more like 38° with those Southerly breezes at 7-11mph.  It's cloudy and foggy with that misty, wet air surrounding us.  The rain we had after the snowfall is just about all checked out.  We're going to have a cloudy with peeks of sun late this afternoon right before dinner time.  Temps will be near 50° with W-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... partly cloudy skies, temps around 30° and NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting over 40mph. As unbelievable as this sounds... we received almost 8" on snow yesterday and right now we're completely snow-free with clear streets and surfaces outside.  No snow at all out there.  With yesterday's  (somewhat mild) temps and steady rainfall, the snow just slowly melted and disappeared.  Just like that. No shoveling needed. And, no tidal flooding that I'm aware of.  And, for that I'm very grateful.  Tomorrow... sunny and windy (mostly the strong winds are in the morning) as temps will be around 36° with NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.   Tomorrow night... overcast, temps in the upper 20s and winds out of the N-NE at 10-15mph.  For Round Three (the next storm that's coming this weekend), expect a rain event beginning on Saturday.  On Saturday... cloudy with rain showers in the afternoon, temps in the low-40s with SE winds at 10-15mph.  Saturday night... cloudy with periods of rain, temps around 40° and South winds at 15-20mph.  Sunday... rain with temps around 40° and strong gusty winds (West 20-30mph +gusting).  Sunday night... 50% chance of rain with temps dropping into the 20s (hovering around 28°) and those gusty West winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  Monday... rain's gone, partly clear / partly cloudy, temps in the mid-upper 30s and W-NW winds at 25-35mph +gusting.

Full Moon - Round Two - Lincoln's Birthday

This Morning's Webcam Shots
Mornin'!  Happy Birthday to President Abraham Lincoln!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 26° due to the NE winds at 10-15mph.  It's cloudy and ominous.  The snowfall is over.  We're back to being blanketed in white with at least 6" of the white stuff.  This time it's heavy, drippy, wet snow with nothing plowed as the high tides seep onto the island.  It'll be cloudy today as Round Two brings  periods of rain beginning this afternoon.  Temps will get into the low-40s with E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain is 70%.  Tonight... rain likely, temps in the upper 30s with East winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain 100%.  Tomorrow... cloudy with occasional rainfall, temps in the upper 40s and W-SW winds at 10-20mph.  Chance of rain is 90%.  Tomorrow night... cloudy and very stiff  winds... temps near 30° and NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting over 40mph. As for this weekend... Round Three.  Saturday... rain, temps in the low-40s and S-SE winds at 10-20mph +gusting.  Saturday night... more rain, temps around 40° and South winds at 10-20mph.  Sunday... periods of rain and windy with S-SW winds at 20-30mph +gusting, temps in the low 40s.  Sunday night... windy with showers ending later at night, temps in the upper 20s and S-SW winds at 20-30mph +gusting over 40mph.  Be aware of tidal flooding today with this snow meltdown and higher than normal tides from today's Full "Snow" Moon. Keep those "high tide" times in mind and remember that the back of the island (bay-marsh side) has high tides rising an hour after the ocean side. Be familiar with those low-lying areas on the island and be careful of where you park your vehicle.

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cold and gray and feels more like 28° with those NE breezes at 3-6mph.  No snow yet but it feels like there's plenty of that salty, briny, raw, moisture in the air.  Expect some winter weather beginning today.  Here's the scoop... cloudy now with snow likely this afternoon (after midday around 2pm), temps in the mid-30s with E-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Chance of snow: 100%.  We probably will see about an inch or two.  Tonight... still snowing, temps in the low-30s and NE winds ramping up at 10-20mph.  Chance of snow: 100%.  We're expecting 5-8" overnight into the early morning.  Tomorrow... Round Two.  Snow concluding before daybreak. Expect a cloudy morning after the snowfall with on and off rain showers beginning by late in the afternoon.  Temps will be in the low-40s with E-NE winds at 15-25mph.  Chance of rain 60%.  Tomorrow night... steady rain (100% chance), temps in the upper 30s and E-SE winds at 10-20mph.  The Full "Snow" Moon is tomorrow and we'll have much higher than normal tides (especially during the high tide times) and with 8" of wet snow and then rains until Thursday afternoon, we'll no doubt have tidal flooding on the island.  Know your High tide times, low-lying areas, be cognizant of where you park and drive your vehicle and don't drive through flood waters.  Here's the high tide times during the Storm:
Wednesday: 7:26AM and 7:47PM
Thursday: 8:03AM and 8:24PM
And, remember that the high tide is always an hour later on the back side (marsh side) of the island than the ocean side.

Sunny Monday (a little bit later)

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels more like 28° with the N-NW winds a 5-10mph.  It's overcast as Ms Sun's due up any moment but she'll be dealing with some thick cloud cover kicking off Monday.  It'll actually be a nice day as these clouds will eventually give way to sunny skies later this morning and temps rise to around 40° with NW winds staying checked in at 10-15mph this afternoon.  Tonight... clear, starlit night with clouds checking back in sometime overnight, temps in the upper 20s and North winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... that storm I mentioned yesterday is arriving in the afternoon.  We'll more than likely see a couple inches of the white stuff.  Temps will be in the mid-30s with East winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow night... snow with snowfall continuing into the overnight and right into Wednesday morning.  At this time (apparently the stats will be updated today in the late afternoon / early evening), it looks like by the time this storm is done having its way with us, we could see 6-8" as it seems southern New Jersey is going to take the brunt of this one. The part of this storm that concerns me is the rain Wednesday night and Thursday along with the Full Moon on Wednesday which could and probably will reek havoc with tidal flooding as 8" of wet, soaking, melting snow along with rain pouring down and then the effect of the full moon Tides equals a very serious matter and shouldn't be ignored.  Ending on a happy note... Big CONGRATULATIONS to the Philadelphia Eagles who beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl last night... 40-22.  For a minute there I thought it could have been a "shut-out" as the Chiefs didn't score until after the halftime (24-0).  Go Birds!  You did it!  38 days until Spring!

Superbowl Sunday!

Mornin'!  It's 36° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 28° with those W-NW winds at 10-20mph.  We missed the storm yesterday they were forecasting.  Wildwood just had a rain event last night and overnight.  No snow coating.  No icy mix.  No sleet or ice covering the island.  Lady luck was certainly with us for this one.  Hopefully, she'll stay with us for not just some of the upcoming storms this week that the weather-folk keep mentioning but also for the Philadelphia Eagles (my hometown team) who compete against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Superbowl tonight.
For today... decreasing cloudiness but windy with peeks of sunshine by afternoon, temps in the low-40s and winds out of the NW at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tonight... cloudy skies, temps around 30° and N-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... mostly sunny with a few passing clouds, temps around 40° and NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow night... clear, temps in the low-30s with North winds at 5-10mph.  Tuesday... another potential winter storm on our horizon.  Tuesday starts out with cloudy skies, temps in the mid-30s and possible snowfall beginning in the afternoon.  They're saying around an inch of the white stuff before darkness falls. Winds will be out of the E-SE at 5-10mph.  Tuesday night... snow likely to continue into the overnight, temps in the low-30s and E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Everywhere I check says 6-8" of snow during the night Tuesday and on the ground by daybreak on Wednesday.  Wednesday... snow showers in the morning turning to an afternoon of rain as the meltdown beings with temps around 40° and NE winds at 15-25mph.  Wednesday night... periods of rain continue, temps in the upper 30s and East winds at 10-20mph.  I'm a little bit concerned on this one as the Full "Snow" Moon is also on Wednesday and with 8" of snow possible accumulating on the ground along with a rainy day Wednesday and then that moon pulling on the high tide waters intensely... I keep having visions of that winter storm "Jonas" from January 2016.  We received almost 2' of snow with a Full Moon happening as well as rain after that dumping of snow.  We had serious flooding with snow and icebergs floating in 2' of water on the island thanks to that storm and moon cycle.  Jonas ranked as high as some of the biggest winter storms on record.  It broke the record set by Hurricane Sandy.  I never saw anything like it and hope I never will.  But, I've got my eye on this mid-week storm ahead that's for sure.  More importantly I got my eye on the Superbowl later.  Go Birds!

Might Have A Winter Storm - Might Not

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  It's mostly cloudy with Ms Sun up and doing whatever it takes to shine and paint the skies.  This morning's sky has that purple, ominous glow.  It feels like 31° as there's not much in the line of breezes and no windchill out there. What breeze is wafting (if you want to call it "wafting") is out of the NE at 1-2mph.  It's cloudy.  It feels raw and damp with 66% humidity in the air.  All the outside surfaces are wet with seashore dew.  We're prepping for the next winter storm. It's the calm before it but looks like we're very possibly going to miss it as it could be just a rain event. The roads have been brined just in case and now we wait to see if what is forecasted (rain, snow showers, icy mix, sleet) comes anywhere near the Coast.  Expect cloudy skies today with periods of rain or freezing rain or sleet by later this afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-30s with E-NE winds at 10-15mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.  The forecasters are saying no more than a half inch (of snow or icy mix) possible. Tonight... cloudy with light rain / showers / icy mix overnight, temps in the low-mid 30s and SE winds ramping up out of the W-NW at 10-20mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... partly sunny / partly cloudy and windy with temps in the low-mid 40s and NW winds at 15-20mph.  Tomorrow night... cloudy, temps in the low-30s and NW winds at 5-10mph.   Monday... sunny, temps in the mid-40s with NW winds at 10-15mph +gusting as high as 25mph.  40 days until Spring!

February's In The House!

Mornin'!  Happy February!  It's 44° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 36° with the N-NW winds at 20-25mph +gusting.  It's cloudy and gray.  Expect a cloudy start with winds gusty throughout the day into the evening.  Temps will stay where they are now in the low-40s with N-NW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  There's a chance of rain this morning (40% chance).  This afternoon, Ms Sun is supposed to appear as we're expecting a sunny day.  Tonight... clear, temps dropping into the mid-20s with N-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... overcast and gray with temps in the low-40s and E-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow night... clear, temps in the upper 30s with S-SE winds at 10-15mph.  Hopefully February will spare the island again this year as we received no winter storms the last couple of years in February. The Blizzard of  February 2010 always comes to mind when way back then on February 5th, Wildwood went dark for 6 days due to that blizzard with 55mph winds and over 2 feet of snow (some 3' snow drifts) pummeled us.  It took 6 days to get us up back and running as we had no electric or heat.  It was a very dark, very cold and very ominous week in Wildwood.  It was also the catalyst that pushed us to make our first Key West vacation reservation that following April.  We've been vacationing in Key West just about every year since then thanks to that horrific storm.  I guess I have February to thank.  Welcome February!
