Mornin'! It's 11° in Wildwood. We're still having winter. I keep hoping one morning when I go on that back porch and check that ol' thermometer it'll begin to say Spring temperatures. Not yet though. It's cold. Not much in breezes as it's quiet. The sky is starlit and beginning to lightening. As the stars fade, Ms Sun's on the horizon getting ready for her grand entrance. It'll be mostly sunny today. There will some clouds in the mix as well as temps climb up into the mid-upper 20s. The breezes will be light E-NE at 5-7mph creating a bit of a chill factor with those 20° temps = 9°. Tonight...low 20s with winds out of S-SW and a 20% chance of snow flurries/showers. Tomorrow's looking sunnier and a tad warmer but still wintry. Wednesday...snow. Spring...24 days!| Sunken Ship at Sunset Bay - Cape May NJ |
Mornin'! It's 14° + 20-30mph winds = -2° in Wildwood. The sky is clear and starlit as winds shake up the island. The streets and sidewalks somewhat cleared of Tuesday's snow are again covered with the wind driven snow. Without a doubt it's the winter tundra out there this morning. It'll stay windy today (W-NW 20-30mph w/40mph gusting) making the 15°-18° temps feel like 0° much of the day. Ms Sun will do her best to warm us but the clouds and winds will make her efforts a joke. Tonight...partly cloudy and still gusty with those W-NW winds still ramping up at 40mph as temps drop down to around 4° + those winds = -15°. The weekend's looking cold (not as cold as today and tomorrow's arctic blast) and wet (rain more than the white stuff). Geez... winter's becoming very tiresome! I'm tired of putting so much clothing on. 29 days until Spring!
Mornin'! It's 10° in Wildwood this first day of Lent. Winds are light and variable (North 4-6mph) that means 1° in Wildwood. It's clear and starlit without any signs of the Moon. That's because it's the New Moon and exceptionally dark moon this month. In other words...not a sign of the moon tonight. It's so wintry outside. Everything's covered in snow and now hard and crunchy. Cars make lots of noise as the meander down the icy snow tracks in the streets. I keep wondering what's happening under all that piled up snow in my Spring Bulb Garden. Considering the week we're having, today will be a "relatively
warm" and a quiet day, with light winds and seasonably cold temperatures. A
mix of clouds and sunshine with highs around 30° are on the menu today. Still below freezing,
but a break from the bitter cold and some sun should create some meltdown. Tonight winds will be out of the W-SW at 20-30mph w/gusts of 40+mph.snow showers and squalls will
arrive with our next arctic front. A quick coating to perhaps an inch
or two of snow (in the heavier squalls) is possible. The BITTER cold follows late tonight as temps drop back into the teens. We're also looking at a bitter cold weekend. Oh... and that New Moon...well we're going to see tidal flooding but I'm not sure how the ocean and those harbors, bays and marshes will react to the tides moving towards us with this big freeze as everything's frozen. | Frozen Delaware Bay |
Mornin'! It's 28° in Wildwood. Happy Valentine's Day! We've got some cloud cover happening. Yet, over the ocean...it's looking bright and sunny as Ms Sun's trying to rise and shine as I blog. She's got a line of thick clouds heading out to sea towards her to contend with at the moment. There will be a mix of clouds and sun early today with temps in the mid-upper 30. Winds will initially be out of the S-SW at 15-25mph. Then comes the late afternoon. Then comes another major Clipper. The Winds will shift and blow in from the West at 25-40mph and gusting at 50+mph bringing with them a Snow Squall (70% chance) accumulating some of the white stuff (1" or more). With the low temps and extreme winds (High Wind Warning & Winter Weather Advisory is posted) the chill factor will be off the chart. I'm just hoping the house won't be off its pilings. Tomorrow...Ms Sun will try to win the battle over the clouds but those Weekend Winds aren't going anywhere! Oh...it's Sea Isle City's polar plunge today...god help them! | Frozen Delaware Bay |

Mornin'! It's 45° in Wildwood. Yes...45° and extremely windy. I was shocked when I went out on the back porch to check the thermometer as the minute I walk out the door, the balmy temps blew right in my face. Other than the winds...no storm here...just a little mist and fog. All around us or I should say north and/or west of us...I'm hearing "stormy". Whew...missed that bullet again. We'll have light rain throughout the day as temps rise into the upper 40s/low 50s. It'll be a windy one though. Right now...S-SW breezes at 27-41mph are wifting (I mean wafting) over us. By this afternoon, they'll shift from the NW at 40-43(+gusting) as the rain will turn to snow showers as the temps drop . Tonight...clear and down into the upper 20s. It looks like it'll be clear and cold on the overnight as tomorrow Ms Sun is supposed to return with temps in the 20s and winds still kicking. I'll check back in later about Punxsutawney Phil's shadow this morning as it's too early at this writing...still dark out!
