Mornin'! It's 75° in Wildwood NJ. Lovely morning for August to set sail. Until next year!
It's still dark outside and the stars are twinkling in the clear sky. It'll be another sunny, warm day as temps get into the low-mid 80s. Breezes are nothing to note now but later this morning will commence from the S-SW at 4-6mph and by noon switch from the South at 8-10mph. Tonight...starting out clear but expect clouds to check in as breezes switch again from the S-SW at 14-19mph and temps drop into the low 70s. There's a 50% chance of evening/overnight showers and/or thunderstorms not to mention the same for wake-up tomorrow. Keep your eye on the doppler. At this point, the weekend's looking sunny and warm but with major winds and not even close to the perfect beach days we've been having.

Tonight...clear with temps back into the low-mid 70s and breezes beginning the switch from W-NW to SW and again to N-NE all around 10-13mph.

A Perfect Weekend's Upon Us
Mornin'! It's 74° in Wildwood NJ. We've got some light breezes under clear skies as Ms Sun's about to rise and shine in less than a half hour from now. If you're lucky to be awake early, sunrises are quite spectacular here at the shore. I think so anyway. It'll be a warm one today as we're starting out warm and humid under blue skies. Temps will climb up into the mid-upper 80s with plenty of sun pouring down all day. It's looking like a 5-star beach day. The ocean will be rough due to the tropical storm Gaston way off our coast but still creating some challenging waves, rip currents and surf conditions. Take heed. Today's winds will be out of the NE at 13-16mph. Tonight...remaining clear and warm with temps in the mid-upper 70s and breezes out of the E-NE at 12-18mph. Tomorrow...I'm happy to report will be a repeat of today and a very nice weekend down the Shore!

National "Dog" Day
Mornin'! It's 74° in Wildwood NJ. It's a bit on the muggy, humid side with very light sea breezes wifting (wafting) off the ocean. It's clear but hazy. Once again the seagulls are enjoying the island life as they laugh off in the distance. It'll be a warm one today as temps get up into the upper 80s and possibly tapping 90°. Ms Sun will be shining down but there could be some milky clouds and showers (20% chance) in the mix today. Winds will be out of the W-SW at 8-10mph (pack the insect repellent). Tonight...mostly clear with temps back down into the low-mid 70s and breezes out of the W-NW at 12-14mph.

Weekly Beach Etiquette tips:
~never leave trash on the beach and even better yet...pick up any you see whether it's yours or not.
~don't forgot those cigarette butts...collect and trash them (or just don't smoke and pollute the lovely sea air).
~remember to pack those headphones (believe it or not no one wants to hear your music).
~kindly give others on the beach space when selecting your beach site. Careful not to plop down too close or on top of your neighbors beach space. Your beach stuff (blankets, chairs and umbrellas) should not be nearly touching.
~always remind your kids beach etiquette especially not running too close to others and avoid digging up, kicking or throwing sand near those sitting next to you.
~play ball, frisbee, corn hole, kite-flying etc on the back side of the beach and not near beach goers (the beach patrol will usually stop you anyway if your in the wrong area.)
~ no feeding the seagulls (big no-no). And, eat and snack smartly...under your hooded sand chair, or umbrella as these beach vultures are eyeing up each and every beach goer looking for the right opportune moment to swoop down and pluck your lunch right out of your hand or mouth. Once they get you then the havoc begins as all their gull friends and family begin the attack for your scattered food.
~shake towels and blankets away from others noting the wind direction.
~speaking of "wind direction"...note which way that "spray" sunblock is headed as you apply. That misty spray does hit those around you if the breeze is just right. And, the hit could be right in someone's eyes or mouth.
~follow posted warnings and pay attention to lifeguards.

Another Keeper!
Mornin'! It's 68° in Wildwood NJ. It's quiet with hardly a breeze but the seagulls are welcoming the day and trying to wake the neighborhood with their noisy laughter. That sound actually lulls me to sleep! The sky is clear and Ms Sun will be rising and shining any minute now. It'll be another beauty with plenty of sunshine on tap. Breezes will be all over the place commencing out of the S-SW (10-12mph) and switching around noon to S-SE (12-14mph) and by this evening out of the South (16-20mph). Temps will be in the low 80s. Tonight...clear as temps drop back into the upper 60s / low 70s. Tomorrow afternoon has a 20% chance of a thunderstorm posted since we may have a warm and humid one (upper 80s). And, the weekend's looking fine except for this tropical storm Gaston out in the Atlantic which we're keeping an eye on and looks to be creating some major rip currents beginning Sunday. Keeping a watch on that one!

More Perfection on Tap
Mornin'! It's 67° in Wildwood NJ. We're still in a nice stretch of weather as the sky is clear and beginning to brighten. Ms Sun's ready to pass the horizon and begin shining on us. No cloud cover or breezes to note this morning. We have some "marsh-fishy" aromas filling the quiet, morning air. There are plenty of seagulls yacking and laughing and making their happy presence known. It seems that everyone in the neighborhood has had the same idea and given their air conditioners a break making all that outside humming and noise pollution go away for now. It's lovely out there. Speaking of lovely, it'll be just that today as temps tap 80° and breezes begin out of the West at 4-8mph and by noon shift from the SE at 5-10mph and by this evening shift again from the South at 13-17mph as temps drop just a bit to the upper 60s. Tomorrow...cut and paste. And, I'm happy to report that the weekend's still looking great too!

A Stretch of 5-Star Weather
Mornin'! It's 66° in Wildwood NJ. I'm happy to report that the air conditioner has been off since yesterday. Windows are open and there's a lovely N-NE breeze at 10-12mph out there in the clear, starlit, early morning darkness. Another morning with just a hint of Autumn in the air. It'll be another glorious day down the shore. In fact, this entire week (high five to those that took their vacation this week) will be sheer perfection...sunshine, low humidity and perfect summer temperatures. It'll just about tap 80° today with N-NE breezes shifting later from the S-SE at 5-8mph. Tonight's temps...upper 60s / low 70s. Tomorrow...a repeat.Thursday...another repeat. Friday...still another repeat. And Mother Nature looks like she's throwing in Saturday and Sunday too! All keepers!

Nice Start To The Week
Mornin'! It's 71° in Wildwood NJ. It's a different kind of morning out there today as it's cooler than it's been. The overnight heavy thunderstorms, downpours and winds have helped the humidity check out leaving fresh, clean air. Instead of the heavy, dank marsh smells (which I love)...the aromas of plants, trees, shrubs and flowers are in the light, cooler breezes...a very pleasant change. A smidgen of Autumn is in this morning's air! Next month...today (9/22) will be the first day of Fall. We'll have plentiful sunshine today once Ms Sun rises. Temps will be in the low-mid 80s with stiff breezes off the land (NW) at 17-22mph (pack the insect repellent along with a bungee cord to secure the beach umbrella). Tonight...remaining clear and fresh with temps down into the upper 60 / lower 70 and breezes out of the NW at 15-20mph.

It'll be a pleasant first half of the day with blue skies and warm temps (mid-80s) with Southerly breezes at 9-11mph. Mornin'! It's 77° in humid Wildwood, NJ. The dewpoint is 73° as the humidity is 93%. We're in the tropics this morning. No breezes to note. The neighborhood gulls seem happy with all their laughter and squawking. We're going to have abundant sunshine today and loveliness once that sea breeze kicks in...E-SE at 7-9mph (no insect repellent needed today although mine never leaves the beach bag). Temps will get up to mid-upper 80s. Tonight...mostly clear with temps in the mid-upper 70s and breezes out of the S-SE at 8-10mph. Tomorrow...not what was originally forecasted and looking like a repeat of today but with a 20% chance of a passing shower and/or thunderstorm (keep your eye on the doppler that's all). Tomorrow night...eh more than doppler scanning as there's a 60% chance of rain including thunder and lightning. Mornin'! It's 77° in Wildwood NJ. It's cloudy and damp as we had showers overnight and everything's wet and drippy. It's 92% humidity...talk about the tropics! My tropical porch plants are all smiling. It'll be another hazy, hot and humid one today with partly sunny / partly cloudy conditions. Ms Sun's on her way as I blog but she has her work cut out for her with the morning cloud cover. Temps will just about tap 90° with that added humidity as breezes are out of the South at 10-20mph. There's a 20% chance of a stray shower and/or thunderstorm today. Tonight...20% chance of a ... you know the drill.

Prepare for more of the Heat Wave
Mornin'! It's 77° in Wildwood NJ. No breezes to note as Ms Sun is rising and shining. It'll be another hot one as we'll have plenty of sunshine with breezes out of the West at 5-10mph. It'll feel a touch more bearable than yesterday but it'll still be very hot down the Shore. Temps will be in the low 90s with a heat index of 100+. Tonight...still warm wtih temps in the upper 70s/low 80s with breezes out of the S-SW at 11-14mph. There's also a 20% chance of a passing shower or thunderstorm this evening.

A few things to keep in mind as the island's still in the midst of a heat wave. If going to the beach...some must haves...footwear as the sand's unbelievably scolding hot and you will burn your feet without it; an umbrella or sand chair with a cover for shade as you'll have to take a break from the sun's rays and heat and take shady cover at some point; water...take and drink plenty of water to the beach...I include a spray bottle of water which helps provide refreshing relief especially when you skin feels dried out from the salty ocean and baking sun; and of course sunblock...and re-apply throughout the day as it's "dip in the ocean" time and it couldn't get any more refreshing but water-proof or not...reapplying sunblock is crucial to avoid sunburn; oh, and those West winds bring the biting green head flies and they were biting big time this weekend so pack the insect repellent!
Happy Beaching!

Weekend's Looking Good!
Mornin'! It's 84° this morning. It's a little breezy with Ms Sun pouring down and heating us up already. It'll be sunny, hot and humid today as temps climbing to the mid-upper 90s. That's not a typo either. We're having a heat wave. Breezes will be out of the S-SW at 11-13mph. Tonight...mostly clear with temps in the low 80s and breezes ramped up a bit out of the S-SW at 20-25mph. Tomorrow...more of the same.

Tropical Friday
Mornin'! It's 79° in tropical Wildwood NJ. We're in it now as it's very warm and humid (77% humidity) this early morn. The sky is clear and I'm happy to say I was up early enough to sit outside in the darkness and see 3 shooting stars. It made my day! We'll continue to have meteor showers tonight too (check out yesterday's blog about the Perseid meteor showers). It'll be another hot one with temps in the low 90s and breezes out of the South at 10-16mph. There's always that chance of a pop-up shower and/or thunderstorm so play it safe and check the doppler if you see the sky beginning to look questionable or hear the sound of thunder in the distance. Tonight...partly cloudy, upper 70s, breezes out of the South at 11-17mph and 40% chance of passing shower and/or thunderstorm. The weekend's holding steady as the weather looks much like today for both Saturday and Sunday.
High tide:4:02p.m.
Low tide:9:28a.m.
Ocean temp:78°
Sunset:8:00p.m.

Once they get you then the havoc begins as all their gull friends and family beging the attack for your scattered food.

Perseids tonight!
Mornin'! It's 78° in Wildwood NJ. It's another muggy and humid start to the day as Ms Sun's working her way through the morning haze. Not much in the line of breezes but they'll ramp up later. It'll be a hot and humid day with temps in the low 90s and breezes mostly off the land (SW) at 10-20mph. There's that 20% chance of a passing shower and/or thunderstorm so keep one eye on the doppler. Tonight...a mix of mostly cloud cover with some starry skies and an even greater chance (50%) of a passing shower or thunderstorm. Winds will still be out of the S-SW at 17-26mph. The weekend's still looking mostly decent as this sunny, hot weather will continue and also keep the weather unsettled due to the heat and humidity. The doppler will tell us if and when those showers or storms are heading over our island that's for sure. Tonight's the beginning of 2 night meteor shower event. The Perseids meteors show up every year in August when the earth ventures through trails of debris left behind by an ancient comet. This year the earth is having a closer encounter than usual and the result will a spectacular display of meteors (shooting stars)...rates could soar to 200 meteors per hour! The best place to view is either in the Pinelands or the back bay. Keep in mind that Light Pollution (street lights, boardwalk lights, motel lights, vehicle lights etc.) will decrease the chance of seeing them. Oh...the sky must be crystal clear too so forget about it if the clouds join the mix. Happy viewing!

Perfect Hump Day Mix of Weather
Mornin'! It's 77° in Wildwood NJ. It's partially clear with light milky clouds covering the morning sky. Ms Sun's going to have a tough time doing her sunrise this humpday. Speaking of tough...humidity's at 95%...whew...hits you like a brick wall when you head outside and out of the air conditioning. Thank goodness for a/c. There is a breeze this morning out of the S-SW at 10-13mph and smells nice coming off the direction of the sea/beach. I've checked the doppler and there's nothing to report at the moment but there's a 40-60% chance (depending which weather forecast you research) of rain today into this evening. We're talking scattered showers along with a chance of thunderstorms throughout the entire day. I wouldn't rule out peeks of Ms Sun getting through today's cloud cover too. No major warnings are posted just keep your eye on that doppler and expect showers. Temps will be in the mid-upper 80s with high humidity.
Tonight...temps in the mid-upper 70s with a 20% chance of a passing shower and/or thunderstorm and breezes ramped up out of the S-SW at 18-29mph.

Perfect Tuesday (and thank goodness it's no longer Monday)
Mornin'! It's 71° in Wildwood NJ. It's mild and clear and still (no breezes) and fragrant (aroma of the sea) and a little noisy (seagulls laughing all over the neighborhood). A lovely morn for sure. It'll be another nice one today as we'll have abundant sunshine (less clouds than yesterday) with breezes out of the E-SE at 6-7mph and temps in the low-mid 80s. Tonight...clouds roll in and we'll have 50% chance of thunderstorms. Temps will be in the low-mid 70s and breezes will be out of the S-SE at 11-17mph. At this point, the weekend's looking like another 50-50 one with some unsettled weather. However, the majority of forecasts I've researched are saying that it's looking a-ok. Oh, and it's that time again for the Perseids Meteor Showers and we're supposed to have a better than usual 2-week viewing period. Beginning around the 11th of August, this year's display of meteors could be as much as 200 meteors (shooting stars) per hour. You need a few things to be in place in order to view them successfully...clear, dark skies and very late night (midnight or later). Best places to view...Delaware Bay shore and the Pinelands. It's tough here as there's so much light pollution...motels, boardwalk lights, street lights, vehicle lights etc. And, don't forget the most important thing...a completely clear, cloudless and starlit night!

Monday I've Got Friday On My Mind
Mornin'! It's 78° in Wildwood NJ. It's very still with no breezes to note. There's that ol' humidity in the air. And, also the marsh aroma hitting you when walking out the door. Ms Sun's doing a little rising and trying to shine as I blog but horizon clouds are creating a bit of an obstacle today. She'll eventually shine down as it'll be a mostly sunny / partly cloudy one today. Clouds will probably be in the mix all day too. Temps will be in the low-mid 80s with breezes initially out of the E at 3-5mph and shifting a bit from the S-SE at 6-7mph. By later today they'll be out of the South at 9-11mph. Tonight...mostly cloudy with W-SW 7-9mph breezes and temps back into the mid-upper 70s. No rain in today's or tonight's forecast.

Saturday and Sunday Forecast
Mornin'! It's 78° in Wildwood NJ. Today's beginning with some unsettled weather as it's a gray morning. We've got cloud cover and even had a little spritz already as all the vehicles on the street are sprinkled with rain drops. It's not raining but it's coming. We've got some cloudiness on tap today with 40% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms (mainly after noon). Keep close watch of the local doppler. It'll be partly sunny / partly cloudy and warm / humid today with temps just about tapping 90°. West-Southwest winds will be wifting (wafting) over the island at 10-12mph. Tonight...more chances of showers and thunderstorms (50% chance) with temps in the low-mid 70s with SW winds becoming NW after midnight. I'm reporting Sunday's weather too as I'm taking the day off tomorrow...Patchy fog before 7a.m. with Ms Sun pouring down and temps much lower...low-mid 80s and breezes out of the North at 5-7mph...Sunday's a keeper!

Hump Day Loveliness
Mornin'! It's 69° in Wildwood. First taste of autumn this morning walking out the back door as there's a light breeze off the ocean and the air feels so much cooler. There's cloud cover over the ocean as Ms Sun's rising and the sky is mixed with lovely sunrise colors and dark grays. Those clouds are insulating the island and making the sounds of the surf crashing loud and clear (six blocks from shore). The aromas of fish and marsh are thick in the morning air too. It's a near perfect morning down the shore. It'll be a beauty today with sunshine and some mix of clouds as temps barely tap 80° with breezes out of the E at 14-15mph. Tonight...some clouds filter in with temps in the low 70s and breezes out of the SE at 11-13mph. The weekend's looking like another 50-50 but look what happened last weekend...both Saturday and Sunday were near perfect. Remains to be seen. Today though...near perfect!

It'll be another hazy, hot and humid day with partly to mostly sunny conditions as temps tap the low 80s with breezes out of the NE at 16-18mph. There's a 20% chance of a passing isolated shower and/or thunderstorm. Tonight...mostly clear (some clouds in the mix) with temps in the low-mid 70s and breezes out of the NE at 14-16mph.
