Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy New Year's Eve! Many are preparing to stand tall, face 2016 for the last time and salute it goodbye tonight. On a personal note it was a good year as I've been bestowed with many of life's blessings during the last year. Witnessing the drama around us from our backyards to all over the world brought some incredible intensity to the human spirit this past year though. I say C'est la vie.  I'm hitting the holiday road this morning and doing a little hiatus from blogging while making this a New Year's Eve as well as a New Year's Day weather report.  It's cold, clear and breezy (S-SW at 20-30mph) out there this morning.  It'll be a brisk and a mostly sunny day this last day of 2016 with Ms Sun shining down as temps get up into the upper 40s.  Tonight...10% chance of a shower as clouds roll in around midnight with temps in the low-mid 40s and breezes still stiff out of the SW at 25-35mph w/gusting.  Tomorrow...2017...sunny with temps in the mid-upper 40s with breezes simmering down some from the West at 10-15mph.  Sunday night...80% chance of rain with temps in the 40s and winds out of the East at 10-15mph.

Mornin'!  It's 38° in Wildwood NJ.  It's crisp and clear outside with stars twinkling and winds wifting (I mean "wafting") over the island out of the West at 15-20mph.  It'll be clear, cold, sunny and windy today. Winds will be all over the place first out of the West, then the NW and W-NW with gusting of up to 38mph.  The temps will just about tap 40°.   Tonight...temps down into the low-mid 30s with winds still ramped up out of the W-NW at 15-25mph and skies clear and starlit.  The weekend's still holding its own...mostly sunny and in the low-mid 40s.  Monday has rain on the forecast.

Mornin'!  It's 45° in Wildwood NJ.  It's cloudy and dry.  For now.  The rain is coming as we're supposed to get a steady rain this morning.  Add to that the winds from the S-SE at 18-30mph and it should make for a miserable day down the shore. Temps will climb though up into the low 50s. Things will switch up a bit later this afternoon / early evening as the clouds begin to break up becoming dry as the breezes switch from the West at 20-30mph while temps drop into the mid-upper 30s tonight.  Sun and wind for tomorrow.  And, the weekend's still holding its own with seasonable, sunny weather.

Unseasonable Warmth Today

Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  That's right...52 and we're headed into the 60s today!  It's cloudy and breezy at the moment winds from the W-SW 25-35mph.  It's not raining but everything's wet. The sea breezes are bringing in the wet mist.  Once again I can hear the pounding of the surf crashing at the shore thanks to all that cloud cover. We're due for some periods of rain showers this morning as temps rise. By late afternoon we just might see peeks of sun as blustery winds stay checked in out of the SW 20-30mph. Tonight...much clearer skies with temps in the low 40s and winds out of the NW at 15-18mph.  Tomorrow...sunny and colder.  So far at this point...the weekend's looking pretty good...clear, sunny and cold.

Happy Kwanzaa!

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Kwanzaa!  Today is the African American week long celebration of life, heritage, unity and culture.  Skipped the blog yesterday being up the road with my family as I hoped all my blog followers had a nice Christmas.  I know I did with much to be grateful for.  Arrived home late from our Christmas Day celebration. I'm settled in and happy to have another day off from work.  It'll be a cloudy day one, but Ms Sun just might peek through those clouds (it's a big "if" though).  Right now I can see some stars peeking through but the best part being the sounds of the surf pounding the beach from 6+ blocks away.  Love to hear that first thing in the morning.  It's caused by the insulating clouds as it almost sounds like a highway full of rush hour traffic.  But, trust me...this island's pretty desolate right now..  The forecasts I've checked all say that we should be expecting a cloudy day with rain heading in our direction as we could get a spritz or two.  By late tonight...30% chance of rain.  Temps will get up into the low 50s today with breezes out of the E-SE at 11-14mph.  Tonight...temps stay up there...upper 40s / low 50s with breezes out of the SE at 15-20mph.  Looks like we may wake to rain showers tomorrow too by the way.  Ms Sun definitely returns on Wednesday.

Merry Christmas Eve eve!

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  The sky is dark, clear, full of stars and of course the crescent moon!  It's a tiny bit breezy (NW 5-7mph) and feels beautiful out there.  Maybe it's just Christmas mixed with the salty air! Whatever it is, it feels really nice outside this early morn.  Ms Sun's on her way (in less than an hour) as the horizon has begun to lighten.  It'll be another pleasant winter's day down the shore as temps go into the upper 40s and may just tap 50°(yesterday the temp got up to a sunny 54° on the island). We'll have sun shining down and breezes out of the N-NW at 12-16mph.  Some afternoon clouds will filter in but for the most part we should be warmed by the sun today. Tonight...more clouds checking in as overnight rain showers leading into a rainy day tomorrow is still on the forecast.  Temps will drop to the upper 30s tonight with breezes out of the S-SW at 5-10mph. Winter's Here!

Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood NJ.  It's the Winter Solstice!  It's the shortest day and longest night of the year!  It is the beginning of the turnaround for as of today the days begin to grow longer and longer with each passing day as Spring approaches in only 91 days.  It's the only way to look at it.  Even here on the island we all know Winter can be dismal and brutal at times but daylight will see us through!  Now as for this 1st day of Winter...it's clear out there with hardly a breeze this early morn.  Today will be relatively mild as Ms Sun will shine through occasional milky clouds with temps in the low 40s and breezes light out of the W-NW at 14-16mph. Tonight...partly clear with temps in the mid 30s and breezes out of the SW at 10-15mph. Mornin'!  It's 26° in Wildwood NJ.  Baby it's cold outside!  Until we meet again Autumn...it's the last one of this year as Ol' Man Winter checks in tomorrow.  It's cold, clear, and calm out there this morning.  Not much in the line of breezes with skies starlit.  Our last day of Fall seems pleasant enough as Ms Sun rises and pours down with temps just about tapping 40° today.  Breezes are nothing to note but will ease in from the E-NE at 4-6mph.  Tonight...clear with temps in the low-mid 30s and breezes out of the W-SW at 9-11mph.  The first day of Winter tomorrow looks like much of the same but much windier.  The holiday weekend...50-50 with Christmas Eve looking like the wet one. Sunday Seesaw

Mornin'!  It's 51° in Wildwood NJ.  No typo.  Autumn's not giving in to Ol' Man Weather just yet.  It's not bad outside.  As soon as I went out I immediately felt the milder temperature.  It's a bit breezy with Northerly breezes at 9-11mph. But that's nothing compare to what's checking in a bit later.  For now though it's basically calm, partly cloudy with no rain in sight yet.  Ms Sun has her work cut out for her this morning as the horizon clouds have some sunshine coloring but for the most part is gray.  Today's supposed to be mostly cloudy with rain showers on the menu (70% chance) with winds wifting (I mean wafting) in big time from the W-SW at 25-35mph as temps continue to climb into the low-mid 60s. Again no typo.
Tonight...mostly cloudy with a slight chance of a rain shower (20% chance) and those winds hanging (N-NW at 20-25mph) with temps dropping drastically back down into the mid-upper 20s.  Looks like we'll be waking to a clear, sunny morning tomorrow with a much colder start to the day. 3 days until the Winter Solstice!

Rainy and Windy Saturday

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly with no breezes. Very noisy ocean as the pounding of waves crashing the shore is loud and clear from 6+ blocks away.  I was up during the night around 3a.m. and everything was white outside.  Wasn't expecting to see that but it's gone now as the rain took care of it.  It'll be wet and blustery today with periods of rain (some heavy and steady) throughout the day (100% chance) and breezes out of the SW at 10-20mph.  Temps will tap 50°.  Tonight...mostly cloudy with a chance of a shower and breezes out of the S-SW at 15-25mph with temps dropping to the mid-upper 40s.  Tomorrow begins with rain and high of 60° and ends with clouds and 30°.  Autumn's being very fickle and Winter's just 4 days away!

Mornin'!  It's 20° in Wildwood NJ.  Ol' Man Winter has arrived.  It was 17° and with those nasty winds last evening felt brutally, icy cold for the first time this season.  It's currently quiet and still (the winds have taken a much needed break) with clear starlit and moonlit skies.  Temps will climb to the upper 20s (possibly tapping 30°) today with partly sunny / partly cloudy conditions.  The breezes will return from the W-NW at 10-20mph.  Tonight...clouds thicken even more as temps drop into the upper 20s as there's an 80% chance of rain beginning around midnight as breezes shift from the S-SW at 10-20mph.  Still looking like rain (much warmer temps - 50s) this entire weekend.

Winter's Knocking

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under clear, starlit and moonlit skies.  It's currently still with no breezes to report but that's all going to change later this morning.  Our first blast of Winter is on the doorstep as the winds from the W-NW at 35-40mph will begin gusting while the temperature begins to drop into the 20s bringing quite a shock to the system with that mighty chill factor.  Looks like a mix of sun and clouds today.  Tonight...more winds (W-NW at 30-35mph) with partly clear skies and temps just about tapping 20° and more of that chill factor happening.  Tomorrow...still very cold (in the 20s) and windy. The weekend looks wet and windy and raw but with warmer temps (back up in the 50s).  6 days until Winter.  188 days until Summer!

Mornin'!  It's 39° in Wildwood NJ.  The sky is moonlit with hazy, milky cloud cover.  No breezes to note as it's ominously quiet and still.  It'll be cold today with Ms Sun partially in the mix as temps reach the low 40s and breezes wift (I mean waft) over the island from the N-NW at 20-25mph.  It's tonight's weather that will make its presence known with winds out of the West at 20-30mph sustained along with a 60% chance of moisture that being a mix of rain and snow tonight right into the overnight. Temps will drop into the upper 20s.  Sounding like a hot toddy night by the roaring fire after that holiday shopping.  And, by the way, we should wake to Ms Sun tomorrow but a colder day as the high may be 27°.  I can hear Old Man Winter knocking!

Full Cold Moon (name of this month's full moon)

Mornin'!  It's 37° in Wildwood NJ.  It's mostly clear, starlit, moonlit with some cloud cover in the mix.  No breezes to note.  Today will be a mix of clouds and sun with temps in the low-mid 40s.  Breezes will commence later this morning out of the E-NE at 7-10mph.   By this evening, the cloud cover will take over the sky. Tonight...rain showers are on the menu with temps in the upper 30s, and breezes out of the N-NE at 10-15mph.  I'm seeing the "S" word for tomorrow night on some of the forecasts. Well, at least a coating or mix of freezing rain's on tap.  One thing's for certain...tomorrow night's going to be very cold and wintry with first real blast of wet, windy winter air (say that 3 times fast) bringing a chill to the bones!  At this time the weekend's looking cold and wet as well.  Just saying.  Eight days until the Solstice and 1st day of Winter.  It's the Full Moon today and it's the highest moon of the year (at midnight) as well as the brightest.  This is also generally one of the best times of the year to see the Geminid meteor showers but the clouds are certainly overstaying their welcome as we'll see no moon or stars tonight.

Gray Start to the Week

Mornin'!  It's 46° in Wildwood NJ.  We've got some rainy conditions with N-NW breezes at 6-9mph.  It was pouring down around 6a.m. this morning but there's a lull in that heavy downpour as we're now in the midst of a quiet rain shower.  It'll be a cloudy, mostly wet day with intermediate showers throughout the morning as well as part of the afternoon.  We could see peeks of Ms Sun in the afternoon (a couple forecasts I checked didn't mention Ms Sun at all).  Winds will begin to ramp up later this morning first out of the SW at 20-30mph, then out of the W-SW at 25-35mph.  By tonight... they'll shift again from NW at 20-30mph as the clouds clear out and air temps drop down into the upper 30s / low 40s. Full Moon tomorrow...be aware of those high tides!

Not So Sunny Sunday

Mornin'!  It's 31° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloud cover with brisk wintry air and no breezes to note at the moment (S-SE at 1-3mph).  It's gray and raw out there.  The ol' marsh aromas are the first thing that hit the nostrils when stepping out onto the back porch.  It'll be a gray day (one forecast did admit to possible peeks of sun this afternoon) with breezes out of the South at 15-17mph.  Temps should barely tap 40°. Tonight...more clouds, breezes out of the S-SW at 23-31mph and temps in the low 40s with periods of rain late.  It will rain throughout the overnight as we wake to more rain. Even with tomorrow's temps in the low 50s, it'll feel damp and raw I'm sure.  That full moon is waiting in the wings too as it'll be a full and bright on Tuesday night.  Always remember those tides with the full moon...higher than normal. Don't forget...never drive through corrosive salty tide water!

Mornin'!  It's 47° in Wildwood NJ.  It's raining lightly.  The island's pretty saturated as we got an excellent soaking last evening and overnight.  It was a great night to go Christmas shopping as the parking lots and shops here down the Shore were empty. It'll be a wet one to start out today with a 80% chance of light rain showers on tap.  By this afternoon...cloudy with temps tapping 50° and expect to see some clearing and Ms Sun making a late day appearance.  The winds are light at the moment but will ramp up a bit and wift (waft) over Wildwood from the N-NW at 12-15mph today. Tonight...mostly cloudy with temps back down into the upper 30s / low 40s and winds out of the NW at 16-18mph.   Looks like more clouds tomorrow as Friday is the sunny day.  So far, the weekend's looking 50-50.

Rain showers are on the forecast today while winds pick up from the East at 17-21mph and temps will be barely tapping 50°.  Steady rain (100% chance) with winds becoming even stronger by late this afternoon / early evening (E-NE 20-25mph) will make for a raw "go right through you" kinda day. Tonight...rain showers, temps in the mid 40s with winds ramping up even more (NE 25-30mph).  Ms Sun may check in just for the morning tomorrow.  She's definitely checking in for the weekend as we'll need her since it'll be blustery and wintry with a high of 38°.

Enjoy this morning though...it's a keeper!

Congress Hall - Cape May NJ (Fire pit on the pool)

Mornin'!  It's 55° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy December! December's starting out on a fairly sweet note! It's mostly clear with some cloud cover leftover from the overnight rain showers.  We had some pretty decent downpours throughout the night.  Ms Sun does have her work cut out for one of those lovely sunrises since there's still plenty of horizon cloud cover to contend with.  But, she's coming! There's a little bit of a breeze out of the W-NW at 10-15mph.  It'll be a mostly sunny day with temps in the upper 50s (possibly tapping the 60s) and breezes out of the W-NW at 15-25mph.  Tonight...mostly clear as temps drop back down into the mid-40s with breezes out of the W-NW at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow...much of the same.  The weekend's looking sunny, breezy and chilly.
