Mornin'! It's 67° in Wildwood NJ this last day of August. Humidity's 80% with a dewpoint of 60° and breezes out of the E-NE at 5-7mph. Ms Sun's up and making her way through the clouds along the horizon as the sky is stunning and looking like a beautiful, colorful, magical seascape. Talk about a lovely morning! It's cool and still and just about perfect in my opinion. This morning's sunshine will give way to cloud cover by lunch time as temps reach the upper 70s. Winds will pick up too out of the E-SE at 10-15mph. By this evening, there's a 50% chance of rain with temps dropping down to around 70° and those E-SE winds still checked in at 10-15mph. Tomorrow... 50% chance of showers in the morning as skies clear by the afternoon. Winds will be picking up even more tomorrow... Easterly at 10-20mph. Who knows what August 2021 brings? Hopefully a brand new day with lots of good health, happiness and less worry! Until next year... see ya on the other side August!

Mix Of Sun And Clouds
Mornin'! It's 78° in Wildwood NJ. Humidity's 76% with a 70° dewpoint. Breezes are out of the W-NW at 8-10mph. We're under clear starlit skies as Ms Sun's due up in about an hour. There's a lot of that briny, salty aroma in the warm darkness. Expect a mix of clouds and sun this morning as more clouds filter in this afternoon. There's a 20% chance of a shower and/or thunderstorm today (as usual... probably later this afternoon). We had some thunder and lightning late last night as we received a nice, quick watering before turning in. Today's temps will be in the mid-upper 80s with West winds at 10-15mph. Tonight... 50% chance of rain with temps in the low-mid 70s and SW winds at 10-15mph. Tomorrow... mainly cloudy, 80% chance of rain as the remaining remnants of Laura will be hitting our coast with temps in the low-80s and SW winds at 10-20mph +gusting. Sunday's still looking sunny with a high of 80° but very windy. If heading to the beach today... keep your eye on the sky as well as on your insect repellent sticking out of your beach bag as those West winds are still checked in!

Friday Beach Tips and Beach Etiquette...
~Think "mask". When walking the streets and beach paths, it can be very close quarters in some areas and it's necessary to wear a mask. I've noticed when it comes to traversing to and from the beach, rarely are masks worn.
~Give that 6' of space when deciding on that perfect beach campsite. That means 6' completely surrounding "your site", not just on one side of 6' with 3' on all the other sides.
~Suggestions for the beach... bottle of water, I pack a small spray bottle of water for you never know what, a hat, footwear, sunblock, a towel, insect repellent, first aid kit, shade (umbrella or sand chair w/canopy), phone, something to read, binoculars are fun, something to eat and drink, a small trash bag to collect any trash you may have.
~Phone Use... more often than not (I'm not sure why) beach folk actually get up from their encampment to talk on the phone. I've seen them encroach and linger at others campsites while talking loudly on their phones. I still don't understand why this phenomenon happens. I'm assuming they don't want their immediate party to be disturbed by their conversation on the phone. Guess what? No one wants to hear your call... take it somewhere else!
~Let's talk "music"... no one wants to hear your music. Many self-proclaimed disc jockeys come to the beach thinking we all want to hear their playlists. Not true. Pack headphones or at least keep the volume down on your music so that just you and your party can enjoy it.
~Winds... learn the wind direction and wind speed if possible. I always post it on my blog. When traversing the beach (hopefully with footwear) be aware of the winds as you walk. If you have sandals and/or flip flops on, rest assured they are producing sand that is blowing right behind you and onto the folks you're walking by. When planting your umbrella, you may have to take extra steps to secure it on a windy day... use a sand (screw) grabber and/or bungee cord. It's pretty amazing how insecure some umbrellas can be as the wind lifts and launches them directly to unknowing folks never expecting to be impaled. Also, shaking towels, blankets etc. away from anyone sitting or laying right near you as your shaken sand may blow directly onto someone's face or sandwich. Oh... "West" winds always seem to bring the green head biting flies. If your planned beach day mentions "west winds" prepare with some insect repellent and know that West winds bring the warm, land breeze and make for not quite as refreshing day as you would imagine.
~Note the times of the Tides if heading to the beach so you know where to place that chair and umbrella. You can always check with the lifeguard once there. If the tide is at its highest when you arrive, you can plant your spot right at the waters edge as the tide will only retreat the entire day leaving a nice large beach before as the tide diminishes. After 6 hours, the tide will begin to turn in the other direction.
~Beaches are "No Smoking" or "Designated Smoking Areas" but you can no longer sit at your campsite and smoke.
~No dogs on the beach from May until October. The Wildwoods have a couple terrific dog parks. 2400 block of the beach and 3000 block of the beach.
~Trash... there are trash and recycle containers everywhere. Never leave trash on the beach. Better yet... pick up any that you see whether it's yours or not.
~Children... teach your children beach etiquette. Most important... teach them awareness of where your campsite is... mark it with a flag if need be or sit near a flag familiar to them so they can find you when distracted or absorbed in play (the beach especially at the water's edge does get crowded and intense at times), if lost... explain that they should always go to a lifeguard for help. Throwing sand, kicking up sand and running near others, feeding seagulls is a no-no, and all the other normal "pointers for children" should be explained.
~Seagulls... aka: beach vultures have been known to create a bit of havoc on a lovely beach day. Feeding gulls is a big no-no. Eat and snack smartly. Using hands to express oneself while holding your sandwich for a swooping seagull is something you see at least once every beach visit. Eat under an umbrella or canopy sand-chair as these birds know our eating habits and are just waiting to grab what they can. They will effortlessly pluck your lunch right out of your animated hand. However, most of the time they'll drop it since it's a kaiser roll and a bit heavy. Within seconds, every seagull within a 6 block radius will be right at your blanket fighting for dibs at your lunch. And, seagulls know chip bags so if you're in the water and didn't quite bury your chip bag down into your beach bag, they'll walk onto your blanket and pluck that chip bag right off the top of your beach bag to share with all their seagull buddies. I've seen it many times.
~Playing ball, Frisbee, horseshoes, corn hole, spike-ball, kite-flying etc. is best done at the back of the beach (dune side) or other designated areas for active beach games and is not appropriate right next to people trying to enjoy their day at the beach.
~Always observe and follow beach postings..."closed", "strong rip currents", "surfing only", "no dogs" etc.
~Courtesy is key. Be kind to one another. Oh... and keep the profanity at home. Let's all be happy while enjoying that lovely beach of ours.

Stiff West Winds Today
Mornin'! It's 78° in Wildwood NJ. Ms Sun's shining along with breezes out of the West at 10-12mph. Humidity's up this morning at 85% with a dewpoint of 73° and it's feeling warm and muggy. But, it's a perfectly lovely summer morning down the shore. How can it not be with that marshy aroma hitting you the moment you step on the back porch. Expect a sunny day with some clouds in the mix. A stray shower is usually in the mix too with this heat buildup and humidity (20% chance). Temps are headed to the upper 80s-low 90s with West winds at 10-20mph. Tonight... partly clear / partly cloudy with 20% chance of a shower. Temps heading back down into the low-70s with NW winds at 10-15mph. Tomorrow... more sunshine, low-80s and NW breezes. Today's West Winds warrant insect repellent if heading to the beach as the biting flies will be waiting for you (don't forget to pack it in your beach bag). And, pack something to secure those umbrellas... bungee, and/ or sand grabber as the umbrellas will be flying today! As for those hurricanes down South... Marco petered out being a tropical storm but not Laura as she's directed full steam ahead through the Gulf to the upper Texas and Louisiana Coasts as a major Hurricane. She could even produce flooding into Arkansas and Missouri. Thoughts and prayers for those down South.

Decent (partly cloudy Monday
Mornin'! It's 77° in sunny, humid, Wildwood NJ. Humitidy's 89% with a dewpoint of 74°. Breezes are light out of the W-SW at 6-8mph. It'll be a partly cloudy day as the clouds will be filtering in later this morning. There's a 20% chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm. Late yesterday, the black, ominous clouds surrounded us, but stayed on the mainland and north of us. We didn't receive a drop of precipitation except for humidity. Temps today will be in the mid-upper 80s with W-SW breezes at 10-15mph. Tonight... mainly clear skies, temps in the mid-70s and W-SW breezes at 10-15mph. Tomorrow... mainly sunny, a tad warmer (upper 80s) and a bit stiffer winds out of the green-head biting West winds at 10-20mph. Those tropical storms in the South entering the Gulf are still doing their thing. One is almost a hurricane (Laura) and neither she or Marco (Tropical storm)

A Repeat Of Yesterday
Mornin'! It's 74° in Wildwood NJ. Humidity's 89% with a dewpoint of 73°. It's still with barely a breeze out of the SW at 3-5mph. It's cloudy and hazy, feeling warm and sticky. Expect a hot and humid, beautiful summer day but with periods of cloud cover along with partly sunny conditions, temps in the low-80s (feeling like 90° with the humidity). There's a 30% chance of stray shower. Breezes will be out of the South at 5-10mph. Tonight... partly cloudy as clouds thicken overnight. Low of 74° and high humidity (85%) and SW breezes at 5-10mph. Tomorrow... a warm one with a mix of clouds and sunshine with a stray shower or thunderstorm possible (20% chance) in the afternoon and a high of 85° but feeling like the low-90s. Keeping a watch of these next two storms entering our Gulf Coast next week... tropical storms Marco and Laura. Marco has its sights on the Louisiana coast as Laura is staring down on the Florida coast and the Keys. Thoughts and prayers for those in their paths. Never before have two hurricanes been in the Gulf Coast at the same time but these storms are not hurricanes yet.

~Playing ball, Frisbee, horseshoes, corn hole, spike-ball, kite-flying etc. is best done at the back of the beach (dune side) or other designated areas for active beach games. Not appropriate or allowed next to a beach full of people trying to enjoy a beach day.
~Always observe and follow beach postings..."closed", "strong rip currents", "surfing only" etc.
~Courtesy is key. Be kind to one another. Let's all be safe and happy while enjoy that lovely beach of ours.

That means 6' completely surrounding that beach encampment, not just on one side with 3' on the other sides.
~Suggestions for the beach bag... bottle of water, I pack a small spray bottle of water for you never know what, a hat, footwear, sunblock, insect repellent, first aid kit, shade (umbrella or sand chair w/canopy), phone, something to read, something to eat and drink, a small trash bag to collect any trash you may have.
~Phone Use... more often than not (I'm not sure why) but beach folk actually get up from their encampment to talk on the phone. I've seen them encroach and linger at others campsites while talking loudly on their phones. I still don't understand why this phenomenon happens.
If you have sandals and/or flip flops on, that flipped up sand is blowing right onto the folks you're walking by. When planting your umbrella, you may have to take extra steps to secure it... use a sand (screw) grabber and/or bungee cord. It's pretty amazing how insecure some umbrellas can be as the wind picks then up and launches them directly to unknowing folks never expected to be impaled. Also, shaking towells, blankets etc. should be shaken away from anyone sitting or laying right near you as your sand may blow onto someone's face or sandwich. Oh... "West" winds always bring the green head biting flies. If your planned beach day says "west winds" prepare with some insect repellent.
~Note the times of the Tides if heading to the beach. You can always check with the lifeguard once there. If the tides is at its highest, you can sit right at the waters edge as the tide will retreat the entire day leaving a huge flat, hard beach behind. You can literally sit there and watch the beach grow. After 6 hours, the tides begin to turn.
Always aware of where your campsite is (mark it with a flag if need be), go to a lifeguard if lost, throwing sand, kicking up sand and running near others, feeding seagulls is a no-no, and all the other normal "pointers for children" should be reviewed at least once.
They will effortlessly pluck your lunch right out of your hand. However, most of the time they'll drop it since it's a kaiser roll and a bit heavy. Within seconds, every seagull within a 6 block radius will be right at your blanket fighting for dibs at your lunch. And, seagulls know chip bags and if you're in the water and didn't quite bury your chip bag down into your beach bag, they'll walk onto your blanket and pluck that chip bag right off the top of your beach bag to share with all their seagull buddies. I've seen it many times.

Lovely Thursday
Mornin'! It's 69° in Wildwood NJ. We've got some light fog laying over the island this morning. Breezes are light out of the N-NE at 5-8mph. Ms Sun's up (she just rose about 10 minutes ago) and is breaking through some leftover horizon clouds and fog. It's quiet except for the birds that seem to be everywhere making their presence known. The salty aroma in the cool air is stealing the show. It's a lovely morning. It'll be a lovely day. Expect sunshine and a few clouds. Temps will be in the mid-70s with E-NE winds at 10-15mph. Tonight... partly cloudy with temps down to where they are now... upper 60s and SE winds at 5-10mph. Tomorrow... partly cloudy in the morning giving way to a mostly cloudy afternoon. There's a 20% chance of rain. The weekend's still looking like Saturday will be mostly cloudy and Sunday will be partly cloudy with temps just about be tapping 80°.

A Little Sunshine / A Little Gray Sky / A Little Rain / Perhaps A Nice Sunset
Mornin'! It's 73° in Wildwood NJ. Humidity's 82% with a dewpoint of 69°. It's sunny with barely any breezes to note (W-SW 2-3mph). There's a storm system headed our way from across the Delaware Bay as I type. Expect somewhat of a gray day as rain/storm clouds will begin to roll on through this morning (60% chance of rain this morning / afternoon). I just checked the "webcams" on my blog and clicked on the Ferry webcams and in Lewes DE it looks dark and ominous and in Cape May NJ is looks sunny and bright. It's on its way! By late this afternoon... some clearing as we'll probably get to see a sunset again tonight (last night's was awesome) as this rain/storm system moves out. Today's temps will reach 80° with W-SW winds at 5-10mph. Tonight... partly cloudy with temps in the low-70s and breezes out of the N-NW at 5-10mph. Tomorrow... sunny, mid-upper 70s and breezier with E-NE breezes at 10-15mph. The weekend's looking like Saturday may be mostly cloudy and Sunday... partly cloudy.

New Moon Tuesday
Mornin'! It's 72° in Wildwood NJ. Blog's a bit late as the very early grocery store run was first and foremost this morning. Ms Sun just arrived as I finally sit here with my delicious cup of coffee. There was lots of ominous cloud cover when leaving the island this early morn. It almost looked as if it was going to start to pour. But, not now... clouds are out of here, sun's up, humidity's 87% with a dewpoint of 69°. Breezes are light out of the West at 6-8mph. Not too shabby start to the day! Expect a lovely day again with sunny skies, high of 81° and West winds at 5-10mph. Tonight... partly cloudy, 20% chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm. Low around 70° with SW winds at 5-10mph. Tomorrow... 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms and/or rain showers possible with a high of 78° and W-NW winds at 5-10mph. It's the "New Moon" today which basically means there's no moon in the sky but the pull on the tides is the same as a Full Moon. Expect higher than normal tides with areas of tidal flooding if heavy rains occur during the high tide times. Be aware of where you drive or park your vehicle. There are many, many low-lying areas on the island. Oh, the West winds are with us today and they bring those biting green head flies to the island and beach. Pack the insect repellent!

A Lovely Monday
Mornin'! It's 68° in Wildwood NJ. We haven't had a day starting out in the 60s since Father's Day (June 21st). It feels unusually crisp outside this early morn. Humidity's down... dewpoint is only 64°. It's clear and starlit with breezes barely there at 3-5mph out of the North. It'll be a pleasant day to kick off the week with plenty of sunshine (some clouds in the mix as well) and temps in the mid-upper 70s. Northerly breezes will switch to SW breezes at 5-10mph. Tonight... partly clear / partly cloudy with a 20% chance of a stray shower passing by. Temps will be in the low-70s with SW winds at 10-15mph. There is a "Coastal Flood Advisory" posted (you may see tide water seeping into the streets) due to higher than normal tides (as well as possible rainfall at high tide) due to the New Moon tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow... mostly sunny with temps in the low-80s.

Stay Out Of The Water!
Mornin'! It's 71° in Wildwood NJ. Humidity's 91% with a dewpoint of 71°. It's raining at the moment and that might have something to do with all that moisture in the stats. Here's a statistic... "winds"... they're out of the NE at 20-25mph. It's a pretty nasty morning. And, doesn't look like a nice day up ahead. Expect rain today (100% chance) with temps in the low-mid 70s and winds out of the NE at 20-30mph. Tonight... much cooler with clouds and a shower or two possible (25% chance), low of 66° and winds out of the North at 10-20mph. There's a "High Rip Current Risk" and "Coastal Flood Advisory" posted until this evening. Those rip currents are nothing to challenge or risk as most beaches will be posting "Closed" signs and I'm not sure if lifeguards will be manning the beaches at each street like the norm. These currents are extremely dangerous if entering the surf. The ocean is fun to watch during these times though. The "new" moon is tuesday and could have an impact on raising the water levels a bit. Thus, the flood advisory. And, high tide is an hour later on the back side of the island (wetlands, marshes etc) than the ocean's high tide. As for flooding on the island... keep watch of the high tides and where you park your vehicle. Tomorrow... ahhhh, a nice one as it'll be sunny and calmer with a high of 78° with winds out of the West at 5-10mph.

Friday Beach Tips and Beach Etiquette...
~Think "mask". When walking the streets and beach paths, it can be very close quarters in some areas and it's necessary to wear one and hardly anyone wears a mask!
~Give that 6' of space (more if possible) when deciding on your campsite at the beach and that 6' means completely surrounding your beach encampment people; not just on one side with 3' on the other side.
~Things to pack for the beach... water, (I pack a small spray bottle of fresh water for you never know what), hat, footwear, towel, sunblock, insect repellent, first aid kit, shade (umbrella or sand chair with a canopy), something to read and a small trash bag to collect any trash you may have accumulated while there and of course a "Mask".
~Phone use... more often than not and I'm not sure why but folks get up and leave their party / blanket / chair to have their phone conversations (loudly) by way of walking through and pacing and lingering at others encampments for all else to hear their phone call. What is that??
~Let's talk "music"... no one wants to hear your music although many self-proclaimed disc jockeys come to the beach thinking we all want to hear their music choices. Pack headphones or at least keep your music decibel down to where only you and those with you can hear it.
~Winds... know the wind direction and wind speed if possible. When traversing the beach (hopefully with footwear) be aware of how close you're walking near people lying on their blankets. Give some thought to how your flip flops are kicking up sand as the stiff winds blow the sand all over those you're walking by. When planting an umbrella especially on a windy day, you may have to take extra steps to secure it such as sand (screw) grabber or bungee cord. It's pretty amazing how insecure some umbrellas can be as the wind launches them directly toward unknowing folks relaxing right in the line of fire waiting to be impaled. Also, shake towels and blankets away from others noting the wind direction. And, remember that West Winds bring green head flies that bite. Pack the insect repellent.
~Note the tide times when going to the beach. You can always ask the lifeguard. If the tide is at it's highest, you can sit as close to the water as you can as the tide will take the entire day to go down to low tide increasing the size of the beach tenfold. You'll literally sit and watch the beach grow as the water slowly recedes a block or more away.
~Let's talk "music"... no one wants to hear your music although many self-proclaimed disc jockeys come to the beach thinking we all want to hear their music choices. Pack headphones or at least keep your music decibel down to where only you and those with you can hear it.

~A recent beach posting is there's "No Smoking" on the beach except in designated areas.
~No dogs allowed on the beach (except for the wonderful dog beaches the Wildwoods provide).
~Never leave trash on the beach and even better yet...pick up any that you see whether it's yours or not. Note trash and recycle containers are situated everywhere.
~Teach children beach etiquette. Running (basically "kicking" up sand) as well as throwing sand is a no-brainer but sometimes you'd never know it.
~Feeding the seagulls is a big no-no. Eat and snack smartly. Using hands to express oneself when holding your sandwich up or out is a magnet for swooping gulls. Dropping one potato chip carelessly while eating will create seagull havoc. Eat under your umbrella or hooded sand chair as the seagulls are much like vultures and are endlessly eyeing beach-goers eating habits. They're relentless trying to find the right opportune moment to swoop down and pluck your lunch right out of your hand or mouth (seen it happen many times). By the way, seagulls know "chip bags" and if they see one sticking out of your unsupervised beach bag, they will think nothing of helping themselves and remove the bag of chips from your bag as well as share their newly acquired snacks with their gull friends while you're taking a walk or a dip (seen it happen many times).
~Playing ball, Frisbee, horseshoes, corn hole, spike-ball or kite-flying etc. best done on the back side of the beach (dune side) or other designated areas that are more appropriate for active beach games away from those camped on the beach that are simply trying to enjoy their beach day. The beach patrol will probably stop you if playing in the wrong area anyway.
~Observe and follow posted beach warnings (closed beaches, no alcohol, strong rip currents, surfboard/boogie board "only" areas etc) and always pay attention to lifeguards. If in doubt...ask the lifeguard.
~Couresty is key. Be kind to one another. Let's all be safe and happy for the rest of this incredibly strange summer.

Foggy Start - Gray Day
Mornin'! It's 76° in Wildwood NJ. Humidity's 99% with a Dewpoint of 75°. We're sitting under some very thick fog at the moment. The humidity is extremely heavy outside. Not much in breezes to note E-SE at 1-3mph. I doubt if this fog will burn off like the Tuesday's as there's not much in the line of sun expected today. We're supposed to remain mostly cloudy this morning. By this afternoon, we're likely to have developing scattered rain showers and/or thunderstorms (40% chance) with E-SE winds at 5-10mph. Tonight... more widespread rain developing (80% chance) with temps in the low-70s and E-NE winds at 5-10mph. Tomorrow... 60% chance of scattered thunderstorms with a high of 78°. At this time, the weekend's still looking "eh" with Saturday being the drier (30% chance of showers) of the two days but blustery (NE 20-30mph). Sunday's looking mostly cloudy with 60% chance of showers.

Within seconds, every seagull within a 6 block radius will be right at your blanket fighting for dibs at your lunch. And, seagulls know chip bags and if you're in the water and didn't quite bury your chips down into your beach bag, they'll walk onto your blanket and pluck that chip bag right off the top of your beach bag to share with all their seagull buddies.
~Playing ball, Frisbee, horseshoes, corn hole, spike-ball, kite-flying etc. is best done at the back of the beach (dune side) or other designated areas for active beach games.
~Always observe and follow beach postings..."closed", "no alcohol", "strong rip currents", "surfing only" etc.

Also, shaking towels, blankets etc. should be shaken away from anyone sitting or laying right near you as your sand may blow onto someone's face or sandwich.
Always aware of where your campsite is, go to a lifeguard if lost, throwing sand, kicking up sand and running near others, feeding seagulls, and all that other normal "pointers for children" should be reviewed at least once.
They will effortlessly pluck your lunch right out of your hand. However, most of the time they'll drop it since it's a kaiser roll and a bit heavy. Within seconds, every seagull within a 6 block radius will be right at your blanket fighting for dibs at your lunch.

Beautiful Hump Day
Mornin'! It's 70° in Wildwood NJ. Ms Sun's up. Breezes are light out of the W-NW at 4-6mph. Humidity's high... 98% with a dewpoint of 72°. It's a stunning morning on the Coast. But, whew what a day yesterday! I'm glad that's over and we have much to be grateful for with that ol' Isaias tropical storm. Fortunately for us, its trajectory was more inland and west of the coast. Unfortunately for my hometown, Philly got the one, two punch... flooding and winds. We had no serious damage (other than my trees getting some very serious pruning from the 60+mph winds) and more importantly... no major flooding. We're all set and ready for a lovely, calm summers day today. Expect plenty of sunshine, high in the mid-80s with W-NW breezes at 5-10mph. Tonight... clouds roll on in as temps drop into the mid-70s with S-SW winds at 4-7mph. There's an 80% chance of rain and/or thunderstorms developing late. Tomorrow... looks like it could be a rainy day with 60% chance of scattered rain showers and/or thunderstorms and gusty winds. The weekend's looking okay so far... sunny and warm.

Full "Sturgeon" Moon Monday
Mornin'! It's 77° in Wildwood NJ. Ms Sun's up and shining brightly. Humidity's at 85% with a Dewpoint of 74°. Winds are light out of the West at 3-5mph. It's a lovely, slightly humid, warm morning. My first thoughts when stepping onto the back porch was "this is the calm before the storm" as there's a damp stillness in the air with the deep aroma of the marsh. We're supposed to have a nice day up ahead... mostly sunny (few clouds in the mix) with temps in the mid-80s with Westerly breezes turning Southerly late morning at 8-12mph. But, there's a "Tropical Storm Warning" posted until further notice for this part of the US Coast. By late afternoon/early evening today we could have a thunderstorm (30% chance) and it could produce heavy rainfall off and on. For tonight... partly cloudy with 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms, low around 75° and South winds at 10-20mph. Tomorrow... tropical storm conditions possible as it'll probably be raining. Temps will be in the low-80s with the possibility of heavy rainfall along with E-SE beach erosion winds at 25-40mph. It could rain off and on until Wednesday morning. Get the wellies out and strap In! Also, remember it's the Full Moon today and the Tides couldn't get any higher except when you add tropical rains to them. Be very aware of where you traverse the island especially low-lying areas that flood. Wildwood will no doubt be flooding. Ask the locals where "high" ground is so your vehicle can be stowed safely during the storm. Oh... the new pumping station at the foot of the Redding Bridge isn't functional and still a work in progress. That area and intersection is extremely immersed in water when these types of High Tides are expected.
It's a Full "Sturgeon" Moon because the giant fish of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught this part of the summer. Other names are "Corn Moon" and "Blueberry Moon" due to the delicious bounties this time of the year. And, there's nothing like Jersey Corn and Blueberries!

Partly Sunny And Breezy
Mornin'! It's 77° in Wildwood NJ. Humidity's 91% with a Dewpoint of 75°. Breezes are out of the South at 13-16mph. It feels lovely outside with Ms Sun up and shining. It was supposed to be raining according to all the weather sources I referenced yesterday but it's not! Expect a partly sunny / partly cloudy Sunday with 20% chance of precipitation. Gusty winds will be checked today as well as for the next few days thanks to Isaisas (currently downgraded to a tropical storm) which will be hitting the eastern coast of Florida today. This Storm could fuel up on the summertime waters (high temps) as it heads northward to our coast in a couple days. For today... partly sunny and windy with temps in the mid-80s and winds out of the S-SW at 20-25mph. Tonight... partly cloudy with gusty winds, low of 77° and SW winds at 20-30mph. Tomorrow... intervals of clouds and sun with temps in the mid-80s and SW winds at 15-20mph. If heading to the beach... pack a bungee for the beach umbrella! Oh, and you might see that sea water seeping onto the island's streets in low-lying areas due to tomorrow's Full Moon. Be mindful of where you park and don't drive through any street/flood water as it's sea water and very harmful to the undercarriage of your vehicle.

August Is In The House!
Mornin'! Welcome August! It's 78° in Wildwood NJ. Humidity's 87% with a Dewpoint of 71°. Ms Sun's shining down and it's warming up on the island. Breezes are very light out of the NE at 3-5mph. It looks like we're going to kick off the new month with a decent day. Expect a mix of clouds and hazy sunshine with temps in the low-mid 80s. And, don't let that haze and cloud cover fool you... use sunscreen lotion as you can acquire quite a sunburn with cloud cover. We'll have refreshing E-SE (off the ocean) breezes will be at 5-10mph. Tonight... clouds roll in as it'll be mostly cloudy with thunderstorms developing overnight (80% chance). Temps will drop to where they are now with S-SE winds at 10-15mph. If thunderstorms hit our region expect gusty winds. Tomorrow... clouds along with the possibility of rain showers the first part of the day followed by partial clearing and partly sunny skies. High in the upper 80s and stiff South winds at 15-25mph. I noticed yesterday during high tide that the streets were beginning to flood. Full Moon is Monday and if the streets are showing signs of tidal flooding now, they're only going to fill up more as the hours pass. Be aware of low-lying areas and where you park your vehicle. Remember that the ocean high tides are always about an hour before the back bay / marsh high tides. Do whatever you can to not drive through those salty, corrosive, damaging sea waters!
