Wednesday Winter Solstice

Mornin'!  It's 33° in Wildwood NJ.  It's Winter!!!  Well, at 4:47pm today it'll be officially winter. I wish I could say that I slept in on the shortest day of the year, but I was up super early and at the grocery store when it opened.  Just doing what's needed to beat the shopping masses.  I guess you could say it was successful.  I'm home and warm and happily having my first cup of coffee as the sunshine's on my face while I sit here typing.
It's sunny with barely a breeze coming from the N-NE at 3-6mph.  It'll be a nice, sunny day with a high of 42° and NE breezes at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clouds roll in as it'll be mostly cloudy, low of 36° and E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... 90% chance of light rain showers in the late morning turning to a steady, heavier rain in the afternoon. Grateful for none of the white stuff as most of the Country will see snow with this "bomb cyclone" storm named Elliot as it travels from the Northwest to the Plains and then South and then up to us.  Wildwood will have a rain and wind event with relatively mild temps in the low-50s with blustery East winds at 15-25mph. The rain will continue throughout Thursday night into Friday morning.  By Friday afternoon (and into Friday night), it'll be cloudy as temps begin to drop drastically into the 20s.  The W-SW winds at 25-35mph +gusting over 50mph are going to make it feel like 2° (that's two degrees).   At this time, Saturday looks to be partly cloudy, windy (West winds at 20-30mph +gusting) and cold... mid 20s.  Sunday... sunshine, temps in the mid-20s and West winds at 15-25mph.  The weekend will have some major windchill numbers in the teens and single digits.  Winter's jumping right upon us.  If you haven't dug out those hats, scarves and gloves, now would be the time.  Happy Winter Solstice!  Tomorrow daylight begins to grow longer with each passing day!  And, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the "New Moon" which is Friday.  The Tides are already showing that they're more swollen than usual during high tide.  With rain and wind driven waters, expect Coastal flooding during this winter storm the next two days.  Know your low-lying areas and be careful where you park as some streets flood majorly and don't drive through flood waters as it's very corrosive to the undercarriage of your vehicle.  Only 89 Days until Spring!
