See You September!

This Morning's Webcam Shot - North WW
Mornin'!  This is it September... the last entry.  Why do you always seem to move through faster than all the other months? It's 66° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 91% with a dewpoint of 62°.  It's cloudy with Ms Sun's about to rise but once again has clouds to get through.  It looks like she may be able to peek through some of breaks in them this morning. One thing's for sure, she painting the sky as the geese fly over squawking loudly heading South.  Sunrise is minutes away. Winds are out of the NE at 10-20mph.  It's going to be a repeat of yesterday with cloudy skies (25% chance of rain), temps around 70° and NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... cloudy, 20% chance of rain, temps in the mid-60s and E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... same as today but with stiff winds.  Wednesday... same as Tuesday.  Thursday... SUNNY, temps around 70° with light breezes.  Finally.  Until next year, see you September!

September's Winding Down

This Morning's Webcam Photo - North WW
Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 99% with a dewpoint of 69°.  No sunshine (what else is new).  Breezes are light out of the E-NE at 4-8mph.  There's fog circling the island but at the moment, it's just cloudy.  It's very damp and humid.  But, my AC is still off!  We did get hot afternoon sun yesterday but today's going to be more clouds than sun.  Expect the possibility of morning fog, then mostly cloudy this afternoon, 20% chance of a rain shower, temps in the low-mid 70s and E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... cloudy, 20% chance of rain, temps in the mid-upper 60s and NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... more clouds than sun, temps in the low-70s and NE winds at 15-25mph.  It was the beautiful jewel the first half of September but it's been a mostly crapola last half of the month with lots of gray skies and misty, damp, very breezy days and nights.  It seems that it will close out the month with the same weather.  We could see peeks of sun this afternoon, but it remains to be seen.  One things for sure... a sunny, beautiful day is on tap this coming Thursday.

The Crapola Weather Continues

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  No sunshine again.  Humidity's 94% with a dewpoint of 72°.  Winds are out of the South at 5-7mph.  It's misty, drippy, foggy, gray, wet, damp, humid and very very sticky.  I keep thinking there's a possibility the AC's going on today.  We're going to have a mostly cloudy day some sunshine later and temps in the upper 70s with S-SE winds at 5-10mph.  There's a slight chance (20% chance) of rain.  Tonight... 15% chance of rain with cloudy skies and fog after midnight and temps in the upper 60s with E-NE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... a repeat of today with 30% chance of rain, temps in the low-70s and E-NE winds kicked up a notch at 10-20mph.

More Gray Skies This Last Friday In September

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  It's gray and cloudy and raining but so lightly it almost seems just misty.  I can barely hear the raindrops hitting my canvas awnings when going out onto the porch.  Humidity's back up there at 98% with a dewpoint of 71°.  Winds are barely there as well... SE at 3-5mph.  Expect another gray day.  We're going to have cloud cover with 40% chance of rain throughout the day, temps in the mid-70s and E-SE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... 90% chance of rain, temps around 70° and E-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy (some peeks of sunshine... remember that?), temps in the mid-70s and SE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow night... cloudy and humid with temps around 70° and E-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Sunday... mostly cloudy with 50% chance of rain, temps in the low-70s and blustery East winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Monday... 50% chance of rain, temps in the low-70s and those blustery East winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  I have to note that I'm grateful for my gray, calm and humid conditions here in Wildwood as I have loved ones in the Tampa-Florida and Athens-Georgia areas and I can only imagine what an incredibly scary night they suffered through.  Last I checked the storm has left Tampa as they're still without power but the sky is now clear.  Athens is still without power and getting windy rainfall.  Prayers for those in that stormy path of Hurricane Helene.

Gray Sky Continues

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  No sunshine again this morning; not even a little peek through this cloud cover.  Humidity's high again at 96% with a dewpoint of 70°.  Winds are out of the SE at 5-10mph.  Expect a day with more grayness and a slight chance of rain (20% chance), temps near 75° and S-SE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... more cloudiness, temps in the upper 60s and South winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... more cloudiness, 40% chance of rain, temps in the mid-70s with E-SE winds at 10-15mph.  As for this weekend... Saturday starts out with leftover rain showers from the overnight, clouds and even fog burning off and turning into a  partly sunny day, temps in the mid-70s with light winds.  Sunday... thick clouds and rain are back (50% chance) with temps in the low-70s and stiff breezes out of the East at 15-20mph.  I'm beginning to forget what a vivid blue sky in Wildwood looks like!

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's back up at 87% with a dewpoint of 64°.  Winds are out of the E-SE at 10-15mph.  Ms Sun's under a gray curtain as she's peeking out the bottom of some thick morning clouds.  I doubt if we'll see much of her today.  Expect a gray day with 50% chance of rain off and on, temps in the low-70s and E-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... cloudy with temps in the upper 60s and SE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy with 25% chance of rain, temps in the mid-70s with S-SE winds at 10-15mph.  As for this coming weekend...  Saturday begins with rain and develops into a mostly cloudy day with peeks of sunshine, temps in the mid-70s with stiff breezes.  Sunday... partly sunny with lots of cloud cover, temps in the low-70s and E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  It's a little far out for accuracy and I've seen conflicting reports of the weekend weather here.  I'm keeping a close watch and will be reporting.

Tuesday Mix Of Sun And Clouds

Mornin'!  It's 65° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels very cool and lovely this morning.  Humidity's way down with a dewpoint of 57°.  These humidity numbers are pleasantly comfortable.  Any dewpoints in the upper 60s / low 70s is considered high.  Dewpoint is a measure of the amount of water vapor in the air at which that water vapor condenses into water.  As the dewpoint increases, the air feels more heavy, humid and oppressive. So, there's today's quick lesson on humidity.
It's partly cloudy outside.  I'm sure Ms Sun will find an opening to show her morning rays in less than an half an hour from now.  Winds are out of the E-NE at 5-10mph.  We're going to basically have a repeat of yesterday with considerable cloudiness and peeks of sunshine (if lucky) with temps in the upper 60s and E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... cloudy with 25% chance of rain, temps in the mid-60s and East winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... doesn't look like we'll have any peeks of sunshine, 50% chance of rain with overcast skies throughout the day, temps in the low-70s, higher humidity (85% with dewpoint at 65°), and E-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow night... cloudy, temps around 70° with SE winds at 5-10mph.  Thursday... cloudy, mid-70s and S-SE breezes.

First Week Of Autumn

Mornin'!  This blog entry is dedicated to my daughter who's celebrating her birthday today.  Being the baby of the family, she has a special place in my heart.  Happy Birthday and hope it's a wonderful birthday!  It's 61° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 82% with a dewpoint of 56°.  Winds are out of the N-NE at 4-8mph.  And, we've got lots of cloud cover as Ms Sun makes her way over the cloudy horizon to begin this first Monday of Fall.  We're supposed to have a breezy, mostly cloudy day but that forecast doesn't match the other three I checked.  The other three reported a mostly sunny day (with some clouds in the mix) and normal breezes.  With that said, I'm going with... a partly sunny day, temps in the low-70s and NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, 30% chance of rain late, temps in the mid-60s and E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... partly to mostly cloudy, temps around 70° and E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Wednesday... mostly cloudy (25% chance of rain), temps in the low-70s and E-SE winds at 10-15mph.

Sunny Thursday

Today's Webcam Shot - North WW

Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 92% with a dewpoint of 62°.  It's cloudy and damp with winds out of the North at 10-12mph.  Ms Sun's up there somewhere as she rose a few minutes ago and is dealing with clouds this morning.  According to several different local webcams, there are several areas with no clouds (mostly on the backside/marsh-side) over the island.  You can tell we definitely have sunshine up ahead for today.  Expect a mix of sun and clouds today with temps in the mid-upper 70s and N-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... mostly clear, temps in teh low-60s and N-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... sunny with a little cloud cover, temps in the mid-70s and NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow night... mostly clear, temps in the upper 60s with NE winds at 5-10mph.  Saturday... sunny, temps in the low-70s and NE breezes at 5-10mph.  Sunday... partly sunny with considerable cloudiness, temps near 70° with NE winds at 15-20mph.  Monday... partly to mostly cloudy, temps in the upper 60s and E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  It looks like next week is very unsettled but I'm not a fan of talking about weather forecasts this far out.  Weather changes quickly and who knows what next week brings?  One thing's certain... Ms Sun's back today!  And, it's one of the big weekends here and for the most part that the rains are out of here and the partly sunny / partly cloudy weather will cooperate.  It's the start to the Irish Fall Festival today which runs through Sunday. It's not only for the Irish in North Wildwood, but it's the Classic Car and Hot Rod show in Wildwood beginning tomorrow as well as the Wildwood Crest Seafarers Festival on Saturday along Sunset Lake and of course Morey's Oktober Fest on the Boardwalk this Friday, Saturday and Sunday and each weekend through October 13th.  We're still enjoying what  Wildwood has to offer... some decent weather and fun!

Mornin'!  It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's up there at 94% with a dewpoint of 68°.  Winds are stiff out of the E-NE at 15-20mph.  It's cloudy as Ms Sun's due up in a half hour or so.  We're supposed to have a cloudy day with a 20% chance of a rain shower.  Temps will be in the mid-70s and E-NE winds at 15-25mph.  Tonight... those clouds should open up as there's 70% chance of rain into the overnight.  Temps will be in the upper 60s with E-NE winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy with occasional rain showers (50% chance), temps in the low-70s and NE winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow night... cloudy with 30% chance of rain, temps in the upper 60s and N-NE winds at 15-20mph. Cloudy and Windy Monday

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 85% with a dewpoint of 60°.  Winds are out of the E-NE at 10-20mph. Ms Sun's on her way and she's already painting the sky and some light cloud cover shades of reddish-orange (aka: Vermilion).  It's a lovely albeit breezy morning down the shore.  It'll start out nice with peeks of sunshine on and off but will be mostly overcast beginning a little later today once the clouds take over the sky. Temps will be in the low-70s with E-NE winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, temps in the upper 60s and E-NE winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... cloudy and windy with 20% chance of rain showers, temps in the mid-70s and E-NE winds very blustery at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tomorrow night... 70% chance of rain with the potential for heavy rainfall, temps in the upper 60s with E-NE blustery winds at 15-25mph +gusting. We'll probably be feeling and seeing the effects of a southeast coastal disturbance that's hitting the Carolina's right now and could form into a subtropical or tropical storm Helene.  As it heads up the coast and in our direction, expect rain and wind by Wednesday and continuing into Thursday, Friday and Saturday here along our Coast.  Not to mention, the Full Moon is tomorrow and we all know what a Full and/or New Moon can do to our high tides.  Don't lose sight of the increased possibility of coastal flooding with this rain system as it pays a visit during a Full Moon cycle.  And, don't go into the ocean today as the Rip Currents are "High Risk" and dangerous.

Sunday Mix of Sun and Clouds

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 86% with a dewpoint of 66°.  Winds are out of the E-NE at 10-20mph.  Ms Sun just rose over the horizon along the ocean.  There are some clouds in the sky this morning and she'll soon be painting the sky beautifully as she never fails to do.  We're going to have a  Sunday mix of sun and clouds with temps in the mid-70s and E-NE winds ramping up even more at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tonight... partly clear moonlit night becoming cloudy late after midnight, temps will drop into the mid-60s with E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... mostly cloudy with peeks of sunshine, temps in the low-70s and E-NE winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tomorrow night... cloudy, temps around 70° with E-NE winds at 15-20mph.  Tuesday... begins a stretch of rainy weather lasting throughout the entire week leading up to next weekend.  It'll be a perfectly miserable day with 70% chance of rain, heavy rainfall is a big possibility at times, temps in the mid-70s and very windy with E-NE winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tuesday night... rain, temps in the low-70s with East winds at 10-20mph.  The Full Moon is Tuesday and with this "heavy rainfall" in the forecast, there could be a very serious potential for coastal flooding as the Full Moon (and New Moon) bring much higher than normal tides.  If it's down-pouring rain during the high tide cycle, no doubt we'll see street flooding.   If here vacationing this coming week, I truly hate to be the bearer of bad new but this week looks like your focus should be on knowing your low-lying areas on the island as well as high tide times as it could be very, floody. Be aware of where you park and drive as well as where you'll be spending your "wet" week here. You'll have to adjust to that "alternative plan" mode.

Another Beautiful Summer Day On Tap

This Morning's Webcam Shot - North WW
Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 97% with a dewpoint of 65°.  Winds are out of the NE at 4-7mph.  The air is thick with the aromas of brine and marsh this morning.  We're under cloud cover as Ms Sun breaks through the breaks in the sky like a fireball.  There are areas of patchy fog this morning.  I can't find fog on the Cams in Wildwood this morning but the Oceanview Campground which is off the island is foggy at the moment.  We're going to have morning clouds and possibly fog rolling in giving way to a sunny day with temps in the mid-70s and E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... clear, temps in the low-60s and E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... a mix of sun and clouds, temps in the mid-70s and very stiff E-NE winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Monday... intervals of sun and clouds, temps in the mid-70s and still very windy.

Mornin'!  It's 69° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's up there again at 96% with a dewpoint of 67°.  Winds are out of the E-NE at 5-10mph and Ms Sun's up over the horizon.  There isn't any cloud cover to report other than one of the offshore Webcams (Oceanview Campground) seems to be a bit foggy.  It seems that we're going to have another nice day on tap.  Expect mostly sunny skies with some of that light, wispy cloud cover, temps in the mid-70s and NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... partly clear with some of those clouds sticking around, temps in the mid-60s and East winds at 5-10mph.  Saturday... mostly sunny, temps near 80° with East winds at 10-15mph.  Saturday night... partly cloudy, temps in the low-mid 60s and East winds at 5-10mph.  Sunday... sunny, temps near 80° and NE winds ramping up at 15-20mph +gusting as high as 25mph.  Sunday night... clear, temps in the low-mid 60s.  Monday... mostly sunny, temps near 80°.

Rip Current: Moderate Risk... life-threatening rip currents are possible in the surf zone. I'd say to swim near a lifeguard but there are none posted this time of year.  Lifeguard stands have been removed.  Be very careful if heading to the beach and taking a dip. I've posted a guide to follow in case you don't heed my suggestion.

More Beach Time

This Morning's Webcam Shot - North WW
Mornin'!  It's 67° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 87% with a dewpoint of 59°.  Breezes are barely there out of the E-SE at 2-3mph.  Ms Sun's on her way and it won't be long until she passes over the dark-coral / red horizon line along the ocean.  It'll be another beauty with vivid blue skies and sunshine, temps in the mid-70s and East winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... a few passing clouds, temps back to where they are now (mid-upper 60s) and East winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny, temps in the mid-70s and E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow night... partly cloudy, temps in the mid-60s and NE winds at 5-10mph.  Saturday... mostly sunny, temps in the mid-upper 70s and East wind at 5-10mph.  Sunday... mostly sunny, temps in the upper 70s.  Monday... partly sunny, temps in the upper 70s and Tuesday... partly sunny with temps in the upper 70s.  Talk about repetitive and monotonous weather as I've never been so happy to lack variety in the weather department!!!  By the way, beaching has never been so incredible this summer with this perfect weather. I've been on the beach Monday, Tuesday, yesterday and plan on it again today, possibly tomorrow and this weekend.  I'm getting some serious books read as of late.  Just to note, there are no lifeguards but there are occasion patrols driving along the beach.  Boardwalk lined dune paths, trashcans and Porta-Johns are still on the beaches.  No beach umbrellas/chair rentals available that I can see (some umbrella-rental sheds have already been removed).  There's still ice cream being sold by the walking vendors.  The sky's been sapphire blue.  The ocean's still warm and clear.  The sand is still being raked in the early morning and being warmed by sunshine. The air is cool if in the shade of an umbrella (it's always a good idea to pack a light hoodie or rashguard).  And, there's just 10 days left of Summer.  If in Wildwood, enjoy!

This Lovely Weather-Week Continues

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 85% with a dewpoint of 58°.  Ms Sun's up and once again turning the island golden.  And, breezes are light out of the N-NE at 2-4mph.  It's a picture perfect morning down the Shore.  Expect this beautiful weather week to continue as we'll have abundant sunshine again today with temps in the mid-upper 70s and East winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clear skies, temps where they are now... 64° and E-SE winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... more of the same with a sunny day, temps in the mid-70s and East winds at 10-15mph.  As for this weekend... it's looking nice with sunny skies, temps in the mid-70s and E-NE breezes.  Sunday might be on the breezy side but lovely just the same.

Another Beauty For The Books

Mornin'!  It's 63° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 83% with a dewpoint of 60°.  Ms Sun's up and painting the island gold this morning.  No clouds blocking her rays this start to the day.  Winds are light out of the West at 4-7mph.  It'll be just like yesterday with vivid blue skies, temps in the upper 70s and W-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Tonight... clear skies, temps around where they are now... low 60s and West winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow... another beauty with sunny skies, temps in the mid-70s and East winds at 5-10mph.  Tomorrow night... clear with a smattering of clouds, temps in the low-60s and E-SE winds at 5-10mph.  I did a beach day yesterday and even with those West winds, I didn't see one green-head fly.  I had the repellent at the ready though.  I'm going again today and probably again tomorrow and Thursday.  We're in the midst of some fantastic beach weather as well as very deserted beaches. With the coastal towns quiet again, it's hard to describe my surroundings but with hardly anyone around town or at the beach, it's the most peaceful, quiet, beautiful and cherished moments now.  Wildwood has quieted and slowed way down.  It's also what retirement at the Shore is all about... a very grateful and satisfying time of the year for me.

Mornin'!  It's 62° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 84% with a dewpoint of 58°.  Breezes are out of the NE at 10-15mph.  Ms Sun's up but has the cloud cover that's along the horizon to deal with this morning.  Those clouds are not only colorful and picturesque but also insulating the sounds of the waves and surf as the ocean's roar is loud and clear.  I can hear it in my house which is 6+ blocks away (that's not including the wide beach of 1600 additional feet)!  Window's are all opened as it's another lovely morning.  Expect a partly sunny day with temps in the mid-70s and NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... partly clear giving way to cloudy skies late.  Temps will be in the mid-60s with NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny, temps in the mid-70s and NE winds at 10-15mph.  Saturday... 60% chance of rain with temps in the mid-70s and winds out of the S-SW at 10-12mph. Fall is in the breezy air this morning.  It's also in my home as any opened window (and there's more than a few) is bringing in that crisp, very cool sea-air. It's a bit chilly but so lovely. Oh, and  there's once again an overabundance of parking spots in the neighborhood!  Expect abundant sunshine today with temps in the low-mid 70s and NE winds at 15-25mph.  Tonight... a few passing clouds, temps down into the low-60s and E-NE winds at 10-20mph.  Tomorrow... a repeat of today... sun, mid-70s and stiff E-NE winds.

New Moon - Labor Day

Mornin'! Happy Labor Day! Labor day has been celebrated in the USA as a National Holiday since 1894.  In 1882, 10,000+ workers took unpaid leave to march through the Streets of NYC demonstrating the strength of the trade and labor organizations thus becoming a tradition which spread throughout the nation. Here's to all the hard workers out there!  It's also the unofficial end of summer here along the Jersey Shore as the roads and highways will be full of Tourists, Bennies and Shoobies today.  Summer officially ends in 20 days.  People are packing cars, shouting, slamming doors and even kids are crying as the morning quiet in my neighborhood isn't so quiet as I type. My opened windows are not just bringing that fresh air and sea-breezes rustling through the tree leaves.  My neighborhood's alive!  Wildwood (along with all these Shore towns) is emptying out.  It'll once again become quiet, empty and dark as all the beach towns will only have "locals" again; that is, during the week, as the weekend visitors will continue infiltrate and keep the island alive throughout September and October.
It's 71° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's way down at 63% with a dewpoint of 54°.  It's cloudy and very breezy with North winds at 15-20mph.  It'll be cloudy early, becoming partly sunny this afternoon, temps in the upper 70s and N-NW winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... clear, temps in the upper 50s and North winds at 10-20mph.  It's the New Moon today as the high tides will be higher than normal as that New Moon has the same reaction as the Full Moon.  Tomorrow... sunny skies, temps in the low-70s and NE winds at 10-20mph. Tomorrow night... clear, 65° with light breezes.
