TROGs: The Race Of the Gentlemen which is here in Wildwood this weekend. It's where hand-built cars and motorcycles take over the town, staging drag races down the wide beach a third of a mile from boardwalk to beachfront. Open only to builders with models from the early days of hot-rodding — pre-war car bodies, hand-shift motorcycles, and anything else made before 1947 — it showcases a racing mentality that, according to organizers, had been lost for decades before the race’s opening year in 2012. It’s the only event of its kind in the country.
