Mischief Night

Mornin'!  It's 60° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 96% with a dewpoint of 60°. I've returned to the morning task of blogging about Wildwood NJs weather once again.  And, we're in the midst of some weather!  It feels just like it did when I left 18 days ago when that nasty Nor'easter was here. Currently, there's a Coastal Flood Advisory posted until 8pm and a Wind Advisory posted until Saturday night.  Know your high tide times and the low-lying, flood prone areas on the island.  It's raining lightly (it's been raining at a decent clip since yesterday evening into the overnight) with winds out of the E-SE at 25-30mph +gusting (which also have been pounding the coast throughout the overnight).  It's a perfectly miserable morning. It should be a Monday if you ask me.  It'll be a totally crappy day today with 100% chance of rain, temps in the upper 60s and SE winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  Tonight... 25% chance of rain, partly clear, temps down to 50° and W-SW winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... partly cloudy, temps around 60° and West winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  Tomorrow night... clear with gusty winds, temps in the upper 40s and West winds at 20-30mph +gusting.  As for this weekend... Saturday will be sunny with temps in the low-60s and West winds at 15-25mph +gusting.  Saturday night... mostly clear with some clouds, temps in the upper 40s and W-NW winds at 5-10mph.  Sunday... partly cloudy, temps near 60° and West winds at 5-10mph.  Sunday night... partly clear, temps near 50° and winds light and variable.  It's always incredibly hard to turn your back on perfect summer weather in the Keys.  But coming home to angry, blustery, wet, "slap you in the face" really harsh weather really does suck.  Not to mention that my house furnace failed to fire up but thankfully I've got a little gas fireplace that was just the ticket for taking the damp chill out of the house.  I'm back!  And, just in time for some Halloween mischief!

The Nor'easter's Beginning To Head Out

Mornin'!  It's 60° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 93% with a 59° dewpoint.  This Columbus Day Nor'easter created some havoc on Wildwood with flooding and winds.  Right now the tide is low and the flood waters have once again receded.  The winds are out of the North at 20-25mph +gusting and it's currently not raining.  We're supposed to have periods of rain today (60% chance) with temps in the upper 60s and North winds at 25-35mph +gusting. Tonight... occasional light rain falling early in the evening (80% chance) remaining cloudy and windy late into the night.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with North winds at 15-20mph +gusting.  Tuesday... cloudy with temps in the mid-60s and North winds at 20-30mph +gusting. Tuesday night... cloudy start with peeks of sunshine late in the day or at least by sundown.  Temps will be in the upper 50s with North winds at 10-15mph.  And, just like that... Ms Sun returns Wednesday with winds out of the N-NW at 10-20mph and temps near 70°.  How 'bout that?

This is where my next hiatus of my weather blog begins.  If you need Wildwood's weather click on "Weather - Wunderground" on the right side of my blog page under "Personal Favs" and make sure your on Wildwood NJ (type in "Wildwood NJ" on the search box) page or simply type in our zip code (08260) and you'll have accurate weather.  The Tides and Ocean Temp and Webcams, Doppler and everything else you need will be on there.  I'll be blogging again and it'll be most likely at the very end of October just in time for Halloween!

Sunday And Monday Coastal Storm

Mornin'!  It's 66° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 84% with a dewpoint of 62°.  We're under a Coastal Flood and Wind Warning.  It's not raining yet (currently just misty) but the rain's just about to hit the coast.  The winds are certainly part of this morning's very noisy weather drama... 30-35mph +gusting out of the E-NE.  The tides are currently "low" so there's no flood water in the streets "yet".  Expect a windy and rainy day with temps in the upper 60s and NE winds at 25-40mph +gusting.  Chance of rain is 100% beginning any time now.  Tonight... windy with rain, temps in the low-60s and N-NE winds at 25-40mph +gusting.  Chance of rain is 80%.  Tomorrow... windy with morning showers evolving to a steady, soaking rain (70% chance), temps in the upper 60s and N-NE winds a 25-35mph +gusting.  Tomorrow night... steady rain, temps in the upper 50s and North winds at 20-30mph +gusting. For the Coastal Flood Warning... 2-3 feet of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas and surrounding tidal waterways from 8AM this morning to 8PM Monday.  If you're not prepared, time's running out.  Secure outside items as the winds and flood waters will have their way with them.  There's always the chance of losing power so have your electronics charged, a supply of batteries, candles, lanterns etc.  Flood waters are imminent... do not go out and drive around in these salt waters as they will damage the undercarriage of your vehicle as well as create wakes which will damage any properties you drive by.  Speaking of vehicles... find that higher ground on the island near you as there are parts of the island that normally do not flood so park it there.  Know your low-lying areas and know your high tide times.  The ocean's high tide is an hour before the bay/marsh side of the island's high tide times.  Be Safe.  Be careful and be Smart!
High Tides: 12:25PM (and tomorrow at 1:01AM and 1:34PM)
Low Tides: 5:49AM and 7:05PM

Significant Coastal Storm Ahead

Onlookers waiting for Erin (August 2025) to arrive

Mornin'!  It's 64° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 84% with a dewpoint of 59°.  Winds are currently out of the East at 5-10mph.  There's a Nor'eastern headed our way.  I'll get back to that.  Today will be a mostly cloudy day but bright as Ms Sun could make it through some breaks. They're saying a few showers off and on this afternoon (30% chance). Temps just about tapping 70° and East winds beginning to ramp up at 15-25mph +gusting.  Tonight... beginning to feel the storm knocking with 70% chance of rain with winds ramping up from the E-NE at 25-35mph +gusting.  Tomorrow... rain (90% chance) and wind with the potential for heavy rainfall, temps in the mid-upper 60s and NE winds at 25-35mph +gusting. Rainfall will be around a half an inch.  Tomorrow night... cloudy with periods of rain (70% chance), temps around 60° with N-NE winds at 25-35mph +gusting.  Monday... rain (70% chance) with windy conditions (North at 25-35mph +gusting), temps in the mid-60s.  Monday night... cloudy with showers (50% chance), temps in the upper 50s and North winds finally simmering down at 15-25mph.  Tuesday... cloudy and windy in the morning, becoming partly sunny by the afternoon, temps in the upper 60s and North winds at 20-25mph.  Tuesday night... partly cloudy, temps in the upper 50s and North winds at 10-20mph.

It's time to make storm preparations.
~Secure everything outside... trashcans, porch/deck furniture, planters
~Move vehicles to higher ground
~Prepare for power outages... have candles or battery operated laterns ready, have all electronics charged
~Know you tides especially "high" tide times, remember the high tide at the ocean side of the island is an hour before the back/marsh side of the island
~Expect flooded streets and roads, and whatever you do... don't drive through flood waters.  The island's a "No Wake" zone but some of those big pick-up truck drivers don't seem to get it
~Stay Safe and play it smart
High Tides: 11:23AM and 11:54PM
Low Tide: 5:57PM
Ocean Temp: 69°

Significant Coastal Storm Has Wildwood In Its Sights

Wildwood's Dog Park
Mornin'!  It's 57° in Wildwood NJ.  We're under cloudy skies with light winds out of the East at 4-7mph.  Humidity and dewpoints are low. We've got a Nor'easter heading this way.  But, I'll get to that.  For today, it'll be mostly cloudy (there's a chance of peeks of sun but that remains to be seen) with temps in the low-60s and E-SE winds at 10-20mph.  Tonight... cloudy with temps in the upper 50s and E-SE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... cloudy with 25% chance of rain, temps in the upper 60s and East winds at 15-25mph.  Tomorrow night... things begin to ramp up as this stupid Nor'easter checks in with rain and serious winds.  There's a 50% chance of rainfall, temps in the mid-60s and E-NE winds at 25-35mph +gusting to over 40mph.  Sunday... rain and wind, temps in the upper 60s and NE winds at 25-40mph +gusting.  Sunday  night... windy with rain (80% chance), temps in the upper 50s and NE winds at 25-40mph +gusting. Monday...  cloudy and windy with period of rain (90% chance), potential for heavy rain, temps in the upper 60s and N-NE winds at 25-35mph +gusting. Monday night... windy with light rain (70% chance), temps in the upper 50s and North winds at 20-30mph +gusting. This strong coastal storm is developing off the Southeast coast and is threatening our coast this weekend.  It'll churn up the ocean and create coastal flooding with pounding rain and winds from Washington DC to New York and we're smack in the middle of it all. Prepare for flooding in Wildwood anywhere from moderate to major flooding on the island.  The winds will be strong and damaging with major beach erosion and very dangerous marine conditions.  Please take heed and be careful.  Know your high tide times and where the low and high lying areas are on the island.  Remember that the backside (bay/marsh side) high tide times are always an hour later than the ocean's high tide times. Move your vehicle from flood-prone areas.  Do Not drive through flood waters; especially creating "wakes" that provide a huge thrust of sea water onto others' properties (in some cases into the first level or garages of homes).  Secure all outdoor items. Have your electronics charged. Stay safe and don't take any stupid, thoughtless chances.

The Calm Before The Nor'easter

Mornin'!  It's 52° in Wildwood NJ.  Humidity's 75% with a dewpoint of 45°.  Ms Sun's up and shining brightly in the blue, cloud-free sky.  Winds are stiff out of the N-NE at 15-20mph.  And, a Nor'easter is in our forecast.  As for today... expect a sunny, blue-sky day with temps in the low-60s and NE winds at 15-25mph.  Tonight... clear, temps around 50° and E-NE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow... partly sunny start giving way to a cloudy afternoon, temps in the mid-60s and E-SE winds at 10-15mph.  Tomorrow night... cloudy, temps in the upper 50s and E-SE winds at 10-15mph.  This Nor'easter I spoke of will show itself over the weekend.  High pressure will be building the next day or so and actually build into a Nor'easter providing chilly temps (low-upper 60s), very windy conditions (N-NE 25-35mph +gusting), and lots of rain both Saturday...mostly in the evening/overnight and Sunday... 100% chance both day and night.  Monday... 90% chance of rain along with those strong winds.  Monday night... still rainy, still windy.  I'd be getting preparations done to make yourself safe with this bad-boy.  Secure and anchor what you can... trashcans, flower pots and hanging plants, lawn furniture, umbrellas, awnings, storm shutters (if you have them) etc. Stay safe.  Remember, always know your high tide times and never drive through flood waters.  Those waters will destroy the undercarriage of your vehicle. Be careful out there.
