Labor Day Sunday

Mornin'! It's 74° in Wildwood. It's now quiet as the partying neighbors finally relented and stopped the backyard party at 5a.m.! I took the time to clean up my yard nice and early this morning by emptying the recycle can and hosing it down with the jet stream before grabbing coffee and blogging. It's currently overcast and a bit breezy and feels nice out even though the sun's obscured. It'll continue to try and shine and we'll see peeks of sun throughout the day, but it will be mostly cloudy. Temps will be in the low-mid 80's. Breezes will continue at 12-15mph from the South. Not sure about a beach day today, but cloudy beach days are fun too. There's other stuff to do on the island to celebrate the holiday weekend. For one...there's a big Seafood festival happening at Fox Park today which was previously scheduled during Hurricane Irene. Or a nice soak in the hot tub doesn't sound bad either. Tides: high...1:30p.m.; low...7:59p.m.; Ocean temp:75°; Sunset: 7:25p.m.

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Mornin! Happy Labor Day Weekend. Another summer just flew past us as we pack the island to celebrate its passing. It's getting a bit thick here on the ialnd, but hey...very quiet this Saturday morning and I'm not complaining. I couldn't believe my ears though as I woke up on my own. Even the gulls seems to be keeping it down this morning. It's 68° in WW this early morn. The sun's just about up as it's pushing itself through the cloud cover. It'll be partly sunny most of today. No breezes out there yet and feels cool and comfortable at the moment. Breezes will arrive later this morning/early afternoon from the SE at 10mph. Humidity's coming back beginning today and will stick around most of the holiday weekend making it feel alot warmer than this gorgeous week felt. Temps are going to hit the 80° mark but with the humidity may just plant the thought of returning to some airconditioning. I'm just saying. High tide:12:25p.m.; Low tide:6:52p.m.; Ocean temp: 75°; Sunset: 7:27p.m. Get out there and share in all the fun things Wildwood's got to offer this weekend...there's plenty!

A Lovely Friday

Mornin'! It's 68° this lovely morning. Just a hint of a breeze as the sun's crossing the horizon. There's nothing to complain about except for the 4:45a.m. loud Wildwood street sweeper and a non-stop yiping little dog tied to its deck on my vacation day. Just don't get it. But, the weather...I do as it'll be a lovely, seasonably not-too-warm day with a mix of sun and clouds as the temps rise to the high 70's. The thermometer may even hit the 80° mark. Breezes will pick up out of the East at 10mph. I'm going with a beach day for sure! The weekend's still looking 50-50 as Sunday into Monday will have an increase in humidity which could provide what it needs to give us some rain/thunderstorms. Today's tides...High:11:26a.m.; Low:5:49p.m.; Ocean Temp:74°; Sunset:7:27p.m. If only Cesar Milan were here and as for WW's street sweeping...no comment.

Happy September!

Mornin'! "Do you remember dancing in September, never was a cloudy day...oops..forgot the...ba de ya"! Love that tune. I could think of alot of September tunes actually...like right now...as it's "September morn"! Oh well...Happy September! Love this month. It's the prettiest time of year on the island. Aside from hurricane threats that is. It's currently 61° and clear as the sun's rising in the morning sky. No breezes again. As a matter of fact...today will be a repeat of every other day this week and will most likely repeat again tomorrow. It's just been a gorgeous week here at the shore...a perfect day for the beach! Temps will just hit 79°-80°. Seabreezes will begin later this afternoon at 10mph. The sun will shine all day. Humidity will continue to stay low. The weekend's still looking 50-50 beginning Sunday as the humidity will play a part in creating the chance of thunderstorms both Sunday and Monday. Today's tides: high...10:32a.m.; low...4:50p.m.; ocean temp...74°; Sunset today....7:31p.m.

More of the "Jewel" as August bids adieu!

Mornin'! It's get this...59° in Wildwood this morning! Amazing how the "Jewel" begins to radiate subtly over the island. It'll be pretty much a repeat of yesterday this last day of August. Sun's about to rise; sky will be blue with hardly a cloud in it today. Temps will just tap 80°. Hardly a breeze at the moment as breezes will be minimal at 10mph out of the North a bit later, then switching from SE this afternoon. A lovely, pleasant day on the island. So far this week...it's been perfect weather. Lucky folk who made it through Hurricane Irene and had a vacation! Tides: High...9:42a.m.; Low...3:55p.m.; Ocean temp...74°; Sunset: 7:29p.m. Weekend's still looking like it may hold out and provide some lovely weather, although humidity's going to build a bit and that ol' chance of thunderstorms will be hanging out as we celebrate Labor Day weekend. Still amazingly quiet on the island, but vacationers and visitors and tourist have been arriving fillng up the island as they begin to bid adieu to end of August and the summer season...the "Jewel" that is.

Plenty of Pleasantness

Mornin'! It's 61° in Wildwood as the Sun's focused on the horizon and ready for daybreak. No breeze to speak of. It'll be pleasant with temps in the high 70's...perhaps just tapping the 80° mark. Breezes will be wafting in from the sea (northeast) at 10-12mph. High tide:9:20a.m.; Low tide:3:02p.m.; Ocean temp:74°; Sunset: 7:34p.m. The "Jewel" of the year is about to shine brightly. The lucky folk who are here on the island right now (and that's not too many) will be enjoying it's sparkle. Not sure how much sparkle we'll see this holiday weekend as it's looking 50-50.

The "Norm"

Mornin'! It's 62° in WW this morning. Sun's just about over the horizon. Everthing is fine as normalcy is once again back in this islander's life. After arriving home yesterday afternoon and sitting out Hurricane Irene in Pennsylvania 90 miles from here last Friday until Sunday, I surprisingly discovered I missed the bullet as there was no damage to our home. No broken windows, not one tree down (we have 3 on our property), no torn canvas awnings, no flashing lights on appliances, no loss of electricity or gas, no water in the house (although there's a small leak of some kind in the front porch and some water under the house in the crawl space and water still in the back yard). Nothing was amiss...everything is exactly how we left it. Alot to be thankful for and all that anxiety...wasted. Today's weather...a beauty...just reaching 80°...blue skies will abound with minimal breezes out of the North at 5-10mph. A lovely day at the Shore. High tide:8:07a.m.; Low tide:2:19p.m.; Ocean temp:73°; Sunset:7:33p.m. My suggestion is make it a beach day. No one's here yet! Speaking of the beach...sorry to report that did take a hit and suffered some major beach erosion.
