The Season is close "Behind" us!

Mornin'! Sorry...the blog's a bit late. Way too much enjoyment of this gorgeous Labor Day Weekend so far and what WW and good friends have to offer. Definitely don't want this one to "End". The "jewel" is in focus though. Ok...onto today's weather...gorgeous to put it in one word. All windows open with the smell of salt air wafting gently in, cool temps, sunny, cloudless blue sky, hardly a breeze, gulls laughing in the distance and the smell of bacon coming from the kitchen is what you'd call a perfect Sunday morning in WW. It doesn't get any better than that. It's currently 62 degrees in WW with the slightest breeze coming from the NW. Temps will rise to 76 degrees and those breezes will pick up as the morning moves along to 10-15mph and we could feel gusts of 20mph, but will switch to SW/10mph by late this afternoon. For now it's very calm as hardly a leaf is moving on the trees outside. Humidity is 39%. No rain in site. High tide is 5:27p.m.; Low tide is 11:13a.m. and Ocean temp: 78 degrees. The surf is calmer after this week's fleeting storm, but still pay attention to the lifeguards as you never can tell what looms out there. It's looking like a "bottoms up" for a beach day! See you there.

Happy Labor Day Weekend and One Week Until the Big Day!

Mornin'! The "Jewel" of the year has begun as the end of the season's perfect weather days and gorgeous evenings astound us in WW. It's gonna be a beautiful Holiday weekend at the Shore. It's currently 73 degrees, sunny with a bright blue sky and drier as the humidity is gone. Earl's long gone although high surf and rip currents still linger off our shores. Be careful and pay close attention to the lifeguards. Temps will go into the mid-80's today with west winds (reminder:insect repellant) that could be intense at 15-25 mph (anchors/bungees for the beach umbrellas). LOW TIDE:10:01a.m.;HIGH TIDE:4:34p.m.;OCEAN TEMP:77 degrees. The weekend's looking lovely as the temps could be a tad cooler, but the breeze lighter. I'm thinking light sweater weather for evenings or better yet...bathing suit for the beach...see you there! This time next week...our daughter's Wedding Day!

Gusty Friday

Mornin'! Tropical Storm warnings are in effect this Friday. WW missed the bullet from Hurricane Earl today. Earl (now a Category II hurricane) is heading out to sea as I type and the Atlantic coast will be spared this time around. However, there's still a storm right outside our front door and it will be creating a bit of havoc today. It's currently 75 degrees in WW with 100% humidity. Warm and humid outside this morning with just a light breeze blowing across the island. Temps will rise into the mid-upper 80's with a 70% chance of rain starting sometime later this morning. The bulk of rain will be offshore. Winds will be increasing as daybreak occurs and we're expecting gusts of 45mph so prepare accordingly and batten down the hatches. Those winds will more than likely keep our beaches closed today. Rough seas and high waves (10-12') are predicted. High tide:3:29p.m.; Low tide:9:02a.m.; Ocean temp:80 degrees. I'd call this a beach day only to observe Earl as he bids us adieu. It's nice to be typing that! Oh...the Holiday weekend...I'm calling it a very nice one. Skies will be blue, sun will be shining, temps will be cooler, and the ocean will still be on the rough side. I'll see you on the beach!

Tropical Storm Conditions Coming!

Mornin'! It's currently 73 degrees as the sun pops up over WW's horizon. There's a slight southerly breeze...5mph and turning to 15mph later. It's the calm before the Earl today. It'll be mostly sunny with some cloud cover and will hit the 90's once again with 93% humidity. It's just one of those hot, steamy, summer days at the shore. A great beach day! Uh...I'd better re-phrase that one...the beach could be a place to just observe some wild, rough, high seas as Earl heads in our direction and posing a threat to our Coast. Forecasters are saying that the hurricane will be hundreds of miles out in the Atlantic Ocean but cruising parallel to our coast beginning tomorrow. Today, the effects will still be felt by how the ocean begins to reacts to Earl and that's roughly. Not sure if any of WW's beaches will be closed, but if you're on it, pay close attention to Lifeguards, Signs, Flags, Whistles, and Warnings. High tide:2:19p.m.; Low tide:7:42a.m.; Ocean temp:80 degrees. Tomorrow will be the onslaught of rain (60% chance) and winds (50mph gusts) as we feel Earl up close and personal. There are no mandatory evacuations at this time, but I'll put it out there if the word comes. For now it looks like WW has escaped a hurricane hit but will certainly feel a tropical storm so put the plan in effect to batten down the hatches. Play it safe.

Happy September!

Mornin'! It's amazing that it's September already. Just amazing. Wow that terrific summer just flew by! It's also Hump Day and another hot one. It'll be another hazy, hot and humid summer like day as the sun rises this morning. It's currently 70 degrees in WW and will head into the high 90's. No breeze again this morning, but one will be around later from the West at 10mph. (don't forget to pack the insect repellant along with the sunblock today as the greenheads will be having a field day today). High tide: 1:12pm; low tide: 6:41a.m.; ocean temp:79 degrees. So okay...here's more...Earl...making his presence known for sure...as WW will feel the effects as we head back to high surf and swells and rip currents for the days ahead. Some beaches may be closed due to a major downsize of lifeguards but more importantly due to the rough seas. Don't swim alone, stay near a lifeguard and listen to their whistles. The Jersey shore will be battening down the hatches by Friday, but today the current category 3 Hurricane's path is being closely watched as it heads in the direction of Virginia and the Carolinas. Forecasters are saying it's projection is up the Atlantic coast and depending on how it develops or doesn't, we'll be watching and reacting as it continues along to the WW shores. No emergency evacuations scheduled or put in effect as of this blog. The ocean will be begin to feel the effects though, so be careful if you're on the beach and decide on a swim. I may see you there!

So Long August!

Mornin'! I'm trying to wrap my mind around this last day of August thing. It's amazing that WW's summer is winding down. Even so, the Jewel of the Year is just up ahead. For anyone who's never experienced days at the Jersey Shore in September and October, you wouldn't believe that you've turned your back on the most incredible weather days of the calendar. Maybe I shouldn't be giving out our secret. It's currently 69 degrees in WW this morning as the sun crosses the horizon. No leaves moving on the trees outside. It's going to be another hot summer day as August fades out. WW will see the 90's today. Breezes at 10mph coming from the NW but will turn around this afternoon and begin blowing in from the south. It's certainly a perfect beach day once again. High tide:12:16p.m.; Low tide:6:54p.m.; Ocean temp:78 degrees. Earl is hovering down south and as of today, the forecasters are watching this one closely as WW may experience some major effects from this hurricane by the end of the week. We'll certainly see some rain, but the surf and winds and flooding and all that remains to be seen. As Earl heads up the coast, we're going to notice him big time. You can bet on dangerous rip currents and rough seas. I'll be keeping a close eye on the storm. But, for the last day of August...it's the calm before the storm and another "10"! See you at the beach!

Sing it with me now..."We're having a Heatwave, a tropical Heatwave"

Mornin'! Warming up a bit in WW again. It's looking like that Heatwave the weather folk have been talking about has arrived and will stay here througout most of the week. It's currently 74 degrees in WW with sun just peeking over the horizon. It's gonna be a cooker today with temps going into the 90's. Airconditioner's back on. Breezes are zero this morning but will come a bit later at 5-10mph and from the northwest. The beach is the place to be. High tide is 10:52a.m.; Low tide:5:13p.m. and ocean temperature:76 degrees. The weekend's rough surf should be a bit calmer as Danielle steers away. Although, all eyes are on hurricane Earl and it's path could make a turn up toward our coast by the end of the week. More to come on that one. So for now...a nice hot day in store so enjoy a perfect beach day. See you there!
