Happy Mardi Gras!

Mornin'!  It's 49° in Wildwood NJ.  Happy Fat Tuesday!  We're having New Orleans weather as it appears  they're having our weather at the moment with 28° temps.  Just amazing crazy weather throughout our country as of late. Not to mention there is no Mardi Gras (as we know it) in NOLA this year due to COVID.  I made my King Cake (without the baby) yesterday in honor of Shrove Tuesday or Fasnacht Day or Fat Tuesday or whatever you want to refer to it as. And, Jambalaya is on the dinner menu! There's a little Mardi Gras happening in this home today!
It's currently gray and foggy with some heavy, wind-driven mist thrown in.  Winds are currently SW at 15-25mph +gusting.  Even with the mild temps, it's perfectly miserable along our Coast right now.  We're going to have a mild day though as far as temperatures go.  Today's temps will be in the low-50s with rain this morning. By this afternoon, the clouds begin to move on out with Ms Sun finally making her way through.  But, the winds aren't going anywhere... West at 15-25mph +gusting all day into the night.  Tonight... cold temps return as it'll be partly cloudy and even windier (W-NW at 20-30mph +gusting) with a low of 26°.  Tomorrow... plenty of sunshine (thank God) with a few afternoon clouds filtering in and a high of 33° with NW winds still whipping at 10-20mph.  Happy Mardi Gras!

49 degrees in NJ this morning, you have GOT to be kidding me!!!! Here in the middle of the Ozarks it is 6 below zero with about 6" of snow on the ground. All in all, not that bad because in spite of the automated phone call from my Electric Coop. last night, I was not affected by the rolling power outage. With a rolling power shut off at least things are somewhat under control. Our problem here with a typical power outage is that there are only about 14,000 people in the county but a gazillion acres of pasture, all fenced and cross fenced, so when a pole or line goes down, it can take a LONG time to get to it, much longer if we are also in a mud situation.

I really feel for the (Millions?) of people still without power.

BTW, from an earlier personal email between us, yes, the NJ weather/temps you are sending me will be here next week. Guess I should have asked you to put a ASAP please in my request for your weather.

Did you really make the cake in the pic, if so, a real wow!!!

T,
So happy to hear you're okay out there in those ol' Ozarks! Especially that you still have power! I feel for those folks without too. Been there and it's not one bit pleasant. I just heard of someone my daughter's related to by marriage who lives outside of Dallas TX and lost power along with frozen, broken pipes. So far, so good in WW NJ. Much to be thankful for at the moment. As for the pic of the King Cake, not mine; just a photo of one. I make little ones (½ the recipe) for just the two of us. Plus, no decorative Mardi Gras sugars here on the coast. I use my own rainbow colored sprinkles after drizzling the icing. All delicious just the same. I did find Okra for tonight's Jambalya which is hard to believe. Happy Mardi Gras! Stay warm and stay safe! ~K

Trump Plaza imploding tomorrow!

@Jim, I know it!!! So exciting! Will you be there? I was on the beach when the Sands went down. Not so sure if I'll be doing the same for Trump Plaza though. Looks a bit blustery and icy cold for my weather taste.
