First Hump Day 2024 - Perihelion Day

Mornin'!  It's 35° in Wildwood NJ.  It feels like 27° with the W-NW breeze at 5-10mph.  It's clear and starlit with the sky beginning to brighten as Ms Sun's waiting to rise over the horizon in less an hour. Today is Perihelion day and is the day that our planet is closest to the Sun. It usually happens 2 weeks after the Winter Solstice.  It'll be a mainly sunny start to the day with a few clouds filtering in later this afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-40s with W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Tonight... mostly cloudy, temps in the mid-upper 30s with light and variable winds.  Tomorrow... a mix of clouds (early)and sun but sunshine is on tap in the afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-40s with windy conditions 15-25mph out of the N-NW.  Friday... except for a few afternoon clouds, a mainly sunny day, with colder temps in the upper 30s and W-NW winds at 10-15mph.  Saturday... cloudy with periods of rain beginning in the early afternoon.  Temps will be in the mid-40s as stiff Easterly winds at 15-25mph +gusting will begin shaking us up a bit. This is the edge of a Nor'easter coming up the I95 corridor over the weekend.  It's time to hunker down.
Unlike Philly which could possibly get its first snowstorm in 2 years (1-3" of snow) Saturday into Sunday, our temps along the coast (mid-40s) will provide only rain. We're going to have rain Saturday into the overnight with the rainy-windy storm pretty much out of here by early morning Sunday.  It'll remain mostly cloudy Sunday with temps in the low-40s.  Monday... back to a sunny day with temps in the mid-40s.  I'm off the Blog until Monday. Time for some babysitting (kid-sitting now as my grandkids are 10 and 5 now) for a nice long stormy weekend with them.  Be careful out there if possibly dealing with this northeast weekend storm.  Oh and just a reminder... if you haven't shut off those outside water lines (garden hose, outdoor shower, garden ponds etc) here on the island, you might want to get those drained and turned off for the winter asap. Nothing worse than frozen, cracked water pipes and water lines. If you need a weather report while I'm doing this little hiatus... wunderground.com or weather.gov (with our zip code: 08260) and of course all that stuff under my Personal Favs.  That'll give you all you need.  See ya Monday!
