Someone's Drone Shot - 2nd and JFK (North WW) |
Mornin'! It's 40° in Wildwood NJ. Blog's on the late side as grocery shopping took priority this early morn. Groceries are bought, hauled and put away! It's bright and sunny here on the island this morning. And, wouldn't you know, I forgot my sunglasses as the sun wasn't up when I left. For today's weather... expect a sunny morning becoming partly sunny, then becoming cloudy by this afternoon. Temps will be in the upper 40s with East winds beginning to ramp up at 10-20mph. Tonight... the next winter storm "Gerri" will be checking in as the winds really steal the show out of the S-SE at 25-35mph + gusting up to 50mph. It'll be raining hard tonight with thunderstorms thrown in the mix. Need I remind you of the possibility of tidal flooding and beach erosion especially after last weekend's storm eroding the island. Know your low-lying areas. It appears that we now have some new low-lying areas like 2nd and JFK Avenues. Temps will be in the upper 40s. It'll be raining with very strong winds all throughout the night. Tomorrow... the tail end of Gerri will be blowing on out of here by mid-morning. It'll be partly cloudy with those remaining gusty winds out of the W-SW at 20-30mph +gusting along with temps in the low 50s feeling more like the mid-40s for those plunging into the ocean. Sounds like it'll be brutal dip if you ask me. Have someone very nearby with a fluffy robe and footwear (slippers, boots, socks etc) at the ready for your wind, whipped, wet body. Say that 5 times real fast! The Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge by the way is in Wildwood on the beach at the Convention Center (Montgomery Avenue) at 1:00PM. Oh, I checked out the area yesterday on my walk and the beach is not only saturated, but has huge pond-size puddles which everyone will have to traverse. I'd be wearing my Wellies for sure if you intend to hang on the beach and watch these brave plungers.
