Mornin'! Just wanted to begin by addressing 2011...GOODBYE! I'm really beginning to stack up the years! My first blog was in December of 2009. My personal New Years Journeys...too much reflection, but it is truly amazing how the new year has rapidly descended upon us. To all my blog readers and you know who you are...thanks for taking time to read my words. I check my Stat Counter almost daily and see my blog is read by many people and that includes the places locally, all over the country and all over the world. In my mind, I'm an International blogging celebrity. I'm not sure if I'd continue to be so diligent on a daily basis if you all weren't out there faithfully checking on my weather blogs. I know who some of you are and most of you I don't, but Happy New Year to all! It's 52° in Wildwood this New Years Eve morn. It's cloudy at the moment and the sun actually just broke through and is back to being obscured. We we're supposed to get some light showers this morning (not sure where that one came from) as the sky clears by late morning and the sun returns. (It's happening as I type). Temps will hit the mid-upper 50's. Winds will come from the SW later this morning, then shift from the N-NW later this afternoon and into the evening 15-20mph. Could be a revelers bad hair night. High tide:12:12p.m.; Low tide:6:34p.m.; Ocean temp:51°; Sunset:4:48p.m. See you next year!!!

Nice Start to the Year
Mornin'! It's 42° under clear, starlit skies. No breezes to write about as it's still and quiet out there. The sunrise is due in less than an hour. Should be a beauty too. Beginning today, the Coast will have a 3-day stretch of mild, dry, mostly sunny, unseasonable winter weather. Temps are heading back into the mid-50's as breezes begin wafting over the island later at 10-15mph from the S-SW. Nice start to the weekend and a nice start to the New Year. What more can you ask for? High tide:11:22a.m.; Low tide:5:48p.m.; Ocean temp: 52°; Sunset:4:47p.m.

Winds are Out; Clouds are In
Mornin'! It's a crisp, 30° in WW this morning. Those pesky winds have diminished making for a very still and quiet start to the day. I can't hear or smell the ocean. It feels like everything should be frost covered, but it's not. Got to see the sunset last evening in North Cape May. I don't recall ever seeing the Bay with white caps before as those winds were really stirring things up. The sunset was lovely just the same as I applauded it when it sank and disappeared. Today's winds are minimal, out of the West and shifting from the SW at 10mph. This morning's sunrise will be crossing the horizon in just about an hour as the clear, starlit sky will be handing the day over. Wildwood will have a sunny start to the day and will eventually give in to some cloud cover. No rain is predicted although a "clipper" will stay north of the island for the next couple days and will throw plenty of clouds in this direction. Low 40's for today temperature, but the weekend's looking a bit milder as we head into the mid-50's again. Today's tides:High:10:35a.m.; Low tide:5:03p.m.; Ocean temp:51°; Sunset:4:47p.m.

Gale Warnings are still out
Mornin'! It's 44° in Wildwood this early morn. The rains are outta here. It'll be mostly sunny today with temps in the mid-40's. The temps will drop by this afternoon as the winter chill sets in. The Westerly Winds are sticking around again today...20-25mph with 40mph gusts. Now, that's a gale. South Jersey had some power outtages last night due to those winds. We had some lights flickering in Wildwood, but thankfully still have power. High tide: 9:50a.m.; Low tide:4:18p.m.; Ocean temp:52°; Sunset 4:46p.m.

Rains-a-coming!
Mornin'! It's 39° in Wildwood this morning. Temps will get up into the mid 50's today. I'm not getting too excited as it appears to be a raw, rotten, nasty day directly heading right for the island. It'll begin with milky morning clouds turning to thick cloud cover until they finally open up pouring down a steady rain for at least 6 hours beginning after lunchtime and continue into the evening. Along with the rain, winds will be tagging along out of the South then, SE at 15-25mph with 35mph gusts. You know what that means...gale warnings will be out; the seas will be at least 9' today. Sounds kinda nasty, also sounds like I could be christening my new "wellies" and that's much better than snow boots like last year! High tide:9:01a.m.; Low tide:3:32p.m.; Ocean temp: 49° (finally hit the 40's); Sunset: 4:45p.m.

The Day After
Mornin'! We made it through. It's over. The "day after" depression is now seeping in. It's time to reflect on this day last year and the blizzard we were experiencing right about now with tons of snow covering the island and all the shoveling yet to be done. I'm feeling lighter and happier already. I had a lovely Christmas and am still enjoying it. The weather this year was the perfect accompaniment for the celebration as it was lovely throughout the entire holiday weekend. Today begins with brisk temps...38° now but heading into the upper 40's. It's currently a bit brisk and breezy as the NW winds are gusting up to 35mph. By nightfall, the winds will dissipate. The sun's up and will hang around all day keeping the island shiny and bright. Something else shiny and bright...our future daughter-in-law's engagement ring as she accepted our son's surprise wedding proposal for Christmas! High tide:8:17a.m.; Low tide:2:45p.m.; Ocean temp:51°; Sunset:4:45p.m. Life is good! 85 days until Spring!

Merry Christmas!!
Mornin'! So, this is Christmas...hope you have fun...the near and the dear ones; the old and the young. A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year; let's hope its a good one! It's 28° with bright sun pouring over the island. It's calm and brisk and beautiful outside. There's a little frost out there making everything sparkle. The sea fragrance is making the morning even more perfect. Temps will rise into the high 40's; maybe even reach the low 50's. A lovely Christmas Day is in store. Lucky for you if you got a new bike as it'll be a perfect day for a bike ride on the Boards. S-SW winds will pick up a bit later 10-15mph as the sun keeps us warmer than most. The ocean's still warmish at 51° keeping WW insulated and warmer. High tide:8:14a.m.; Low tide:2:30p.m.; Ocean temp: 51°; Sunset:4:44p.m.

Christmas Eve!
Mornin'! It's going to be perfect, more seasonable weather for this Christmas Eve. It's currently 38° this dark, still, brisk morning. Sunrise is due in less than an hour, but it's pretty cloudy at the moment, so we may not get that spectacular sunrise show. No breezes to write about although they're coming by later from the North at 10-15mph then, heading out. It will be a still, calm evening for Santa. Today will be partly sunny/partly cloudy as temps climb to more seasonable numbers...mid-40's. Tonight...high 20's for Santa's flyover along the coast. High tide:6:40a.m.; Low tide:1:07p.m.; Ocean temp: 52°; Sunset: 4:43p.m.

Eve of Christmas Eve
Mornin'! It's 50° in WW. Got the day off and enjoying the pace...very peaceful. I'm enjoying my coffee and the smooth music. Today's music selection is "Soul Violins" by Hall & Oates. Enough of the Christmas music already. I'm done with it, although I'll turn up Kenny Loggins "Celebrate me Home." It's lovely outside...mild, gray, dry, quiet (except for the sounds of the ocean and the winds), and of course sea-air fragrance. Doesn't get any better than that. Temps will stay mild again today as we head into the mid-upper 50's. Yesterday, temps got up to 62° and it was as pleasant as it gets for a winters day! I actually thought "flip-flops" once. This morning cloud cover will eventually blow out but there's a 60% chance of a morning shower. Blue skies will begin peeking in a bit later as the sun won't be making its daily debut until lunchtime. At least we will get to see and feel it. The winds are something to mention as they're sustained at 15-20mph with gusts out of the NW. One forecaster did mentioned "gale warnings". So, to the boaters, you know who you are and I did see a couple boats sailing yesterday on my lunch break, take heed. Tonight...dry. Tomorrow (Christmas Eve) is looking a bit more seasonable as cooler temps (low 40's) will accompany a sunny Day and clear night. High tide:6:30p.m.; Low tide:12:15p.m.; Ocean temp: 52°; Sunset:4:43p.m.

First day of Winter - Not so Wintry
Mornin'! It's 52° in Wildwood this dark, quiet, mild, winter's morn. Winter's arrived and the days now begin to grow longer. A New Moon will be guiding Santa on Christmas Eve! Everything's drippy wet outside this morning with island moisture but skies have cleared and the island will have some partly sunny skies with more mild weather today. Like yesterday, the temperature will once again go up into the high 50's. No breezes or winds now, but the W-NW winds will begin to blow in later (15-20mph) and bringing it with them...rain which develops this evening into the overnight. High tide:5:17p.m.; Low tide:11:20a.m.; Ocean temp: same as the air...52°; sunset:4:42p.m.
Footnote: at 1:55p.m. it's 62° and sunny and balmy and beautiful. Just a gorgeous day!

A Winter's Night
Mornin'! It's 51° in Wildwood. Winter begins at midnight tonight. It sure doesn't feel like it though. Temps will rise into the high 50's and possibly reaching 60° today. In the morning darkness, the breezes are kicking up out of the South at 15-20mph bringing with it that morning sea fragrance...very nice. Here's the scoop...it's dry at the moment except for the overnight sea moisture dampening everything on the island. Light showers are headed right in our direction as I blog. Those showers will be turning to a steady rain by this afternnon. Those Southerly breezes will pick up as they shift to the W-SW towards evening. Sun returns tomorrow. High tide:4:18p.m.; Low tide: 10:22a.m.; Ocean temp:50°; Sunset:4:42p.m. Christmas is in the air!

Cloudy and Damp this 1st of Hanukkah and last day of Autumn!
Mornin'! Happy Hanukkah! It's 48° in Wildwood this early morn. Temps will hover around that number throughout the day, perhaps reaching 50°. At the moment it's cloudy with a bit of a spritzer going on as it's raining very lightly. The sea air is also providing some moisture in the morning air and the roar of the ocean is loud and clear. The clouds will hang around today as there's a 30% chance of showers throughout the day and a 70% chance of a rainy day tomorrow. Not much to note on the breeze front, but a NW breeze at 10-15mph will waft in sometime this morning; switching from the NE by late afternoon. You know the drill on the island's afternoon seabreezes...awesome on a summers afternoon; not so much in December. High tide:3:14p.m.; Low tide:9:19a.m.; Ocean temp: 53°; Sunset: 4:41p.m. Winter begins tomorrow!

Higher Temps Returning
Mornin'! It's 29° in Wildwood this early morn. The sky is clear and starlit. Dawn along with the sunrise is due in just over an hour and should be fantastic! Higher temps are returning today as the 50's will make another appearance while the sun shines for most of the day. Breezes are out of the SW and will stay that way as they waft over the island at 14-18mph with some gusting. High tide:2:06p.m.; Low tide:8:11a.m.; Ocean temp: 53° (typically in the low 40's this time of year); Sunset: 4:41p.m. Sounds like a nice one as the 1st day of Winter is 2 days away and the days begin to grow longer!

One Week Until Christmas
Mornin'! It's a Christmasy 32° this morning. The sun's up as it vies for space with the heavy, gray clouds. It'll be partly cloudy/partly sunny today as temps climb to the upper 30's. It's going to be a chilly one. There's also a 20% chance of showers. Clouds may bowing out by Sunset (4:36p.m.) and you know what that means? A spectacular Sunset later? Light breezes out of the N-NW at 9-14mph will hang around all day. High tide:12:59p.m.; Low tide:7:28p.m.; Ocean temp: 53°; Sunset: 4:36p.m.
Footnote to weather forecasters: it's 11a.m. and there's not one cloud in this gorgeous, vivid blue seashore sky!

Another Sunny, Dry Weekend!
Mornin'! We're just about to have the 7th consecutive dry and sunny weekend! It's 37° in Wildwood this morning as the sun's about to cross the horizon. There's a stiff breeze in today's early dawn darkness...NW winds 10-15mph with 20mph gusts. I'd love to be on the beach, bundled in winter gear with camera in hand right now, but instead I've opted to type away wearing pj's and slippers as I sit in my toasty warm seashore cottage. Got a fire going this morning. Christmas tree is lit. I just took a batch of chocolate chip cookies out of the oven. I had just enough dough for two more cookie sheets ready to bake and why not? The aroma fits right into the ambiance. Plus, I prefer doing things when the mood strikes. It's so much more pleasurable. So, onto the weather...it'll be like yesterday...party sunny/partly cloudy. Temps will head into the mid-40's as the breeze more or less sticks around making it feel...I was going to say "cold", but "making it feel Christmasy" sounds much better. High tide: 11:56a.m.; Low tide:6:31p.m.; Ocean temp (believe it or not):53°; Sunset:4:40p.m. A great place to get some Christmas shopping done...Sunset Beach in Cape May! See a gorgeous winters' ( 3 more days until the winter solstice) sunset and finish your shopping in the greatest gift shop...you can't top that!

A nice Winter's day at the Shore
Mornin'! It's 45° this morning as the sun just made it over the cloud filled horizon. It's now shining brightly and will do its best to keep shining. There are high clouds heading this way though (via westery breezes) and the two will be battling it out throughout most of the day. Breezes will shift to the W-NW at 15-20mph later, but it should be a mild and mostly-sunny/mostly-cloudy day with temps in the low-mid 50's. There's a 30% chance of a shower tonight. High tide:10:54a.m.; Low tide:5:38p.m.; Ocean temp: still mild at 53° and Sunset tonight:4:40p.m. 5 more days until Winter!

Thursday Mix
Mornin'! It's 49° with overcast skies and a mild seabreeze wafting over the island in the darkness. At the moment, the aroma of skunk is filling the neighborhood. Yes...Wildwood has skunk visits from time to time. Today's weather will have a bit of a mix as the day begins with somewhat mild temps and breezes. The temperature becomes even more mild as we head into the afternoon and they rise into the mid-upper 60's. (I'd say a bit unseasonable just over a week before Christmas). It'll remain dry until the S-SW winds ramp up at 15-25mph with gusting of 35+mph today and bring with them evening showers. Might see some Christmas dex wafting around the island today! High tide:10:11a.m.; Low tide:4:50p.m.; Ocean temp: 51°; Sunset: 4:35p.m. 6 days until the days begin to grow longer...the Winter Solstice.

More Quiet Weather
Mornin'! It's 35° this calm, cool, quiet morning. Sun's due up in an hour and should be a decent sunrise as the sky is clear and at the moment starlit. (I was lucky enough to catch 2 meteors last night while star gazing in the back yard.) No breezes yet. Today will be a mix of clouds and sun, cool and dry and a Northerly breeze thrown in the mix a little later. The breeze will shift from the North to the Northeast at 10mph later today. Temps are supposed to stay in the upper 40's. Rain is due tomorrow, so make the best of this dry, quiet weather. Shopping anyone? Perhaps a walk on the Wall? Bike ride on the Boards? A walk through Cape May for their beautiful Christmas displays. If you're lucky enough to be at the Shore, forget the baking today and make it a point to get some "salt air" time in! High tide: 9:27a.m.; Low tide:4:05p.m.; Ocean temp:51°; Sunset: 4:35p.m.

Pleasant Conditions Continue
Mornin'! Mornin' Mr. Radio; Mornin' Little Cherrio; Mornin' Sister Oreo; did I tell you everything is fine; in my mind? Little Al Jarreau this morning to start my day. Yesterday I hit the Mall and finished my Christmas Shopping! Caught Santa bumming too! It's 33° in Wildwood this morning. There's a little frost on the island. The sky is clear and starlit. Sunrise is due in about an hour. No breezes to blog about yet. A NW breeze will blow in later at 10mph. Christmas, along with the fragrance of the sea is in the air. It's all good. Pleasant conditions will continue today as the sky will be blue and cloud free and temps reach the 50's...low 50's but 50's just the same! The ocean temp is still in the 50's too...53° which is insulating WW and keeping us a bit warmer than the mainland. The Sea off our coast should be in the mid 40's this time of year. Today's tides...High:8:41a.m.; Low:3:24p.m.; Ocean temp: 53°; Sunset: 4:49p.m. Just over a week until the Winter Solstice!

Quiet Stretch
Mornin'! What a nice holiday weekend! The weather and full moon provided some really nice moments. Got to enjoy that moon by the sea way up in Belmar, NJ on Saturday night. Great seashore town along with the some of the best holiday spirit. It's like visiting a Christmas Train platform! Also, got to visit some antique shops. I also baked some yummy Christmas cookies. Life is good. On to today's weather...it's 39° this bright, sunny Monday. I'm a bit late on the blog this morning. I have the day off from work, slept in a bit and intend to finish up the Christmas Shopping. It remains to be seen, but I'm hoping. The weather will be perfect for outdoor Mall shopping too...sunny, brisk, upper 40's, light breeze out of the NE at 5-8mph. This "quiet stretch" as the weatherman called it will hang around until Thursday when the rains drop by. High tide:8:09a.m.; Low tide:2:44p.m.; Ocean temp:54°; Sunset:4:37p.m.

Lots of Sun this Sunday
Mornin'! It's 29° in Wildwood this sunny Sunday morn. Sun's up and shining brightly warming us back up. Got a bit wintry last night and will do so again tonight as temps drop back into the 20's. Christmas is in the air! Temps today though will head back into the 40's; albeit the low 40's. Plenty of sun and bright blue sky in store today with a light breeze out of the North at 5-10mph. High tide:7:32a.m.; Low tide:2:06p.m.; Ocean temp: 54°; Sunset: 4:49p.m.; Moonrise: 5:17p.m.;

Mild Winter's Day
Mornin'! It's 30° this clear, dark, still morning on the island. Temps are heading into the low-50's today as the sun beats down. (Sunrise in an hour) Breezes will be out of the SW at 7-11mph. Clouds could increase a bit by this afternoon. But for the most part...sunny and mild for a winter's day. Sunny and mild albeit cooler (temps in the 40's) for a winter's weekend. High tide: 6:41p.m.; Low tide:12:48p.m.; Ocean temp: 55°; Sunset: 4:38p.m. A Full moon will cross over the horizon tomorrow at 4:49p.m. as it escorts me to my next Christmas party!

Change has come
Mornin'! Whew...Who's tripping down the streets of the city; smiling at everybody she's sees? I'm pretty sure it was "Windy" as the outdoor Christmas Decorations made it through a rough night and are still intact. Wish it wasn't Recycle Day though with Windy still hanging around and shaking us up a bit. Winds will waft throughout the day today but at a much slower pace...15-20mph from the West, yet still gusting. Temperature this morning is 41° and will only reach the mid-upper 40's. This morning's thick cloud cover will move out or I should say blow out and we'll eventually see mostly sunny, clear skies. Except for those winds, Wildwood missed the bullet as we hardly got any rain. I mean it never rained until the overnight hours, but those pesky flood sirens never went off and everything's dry outside. Today...a change as we get a sneak peek of winter's arrival with more seasonable temperatures. The moon will be bright tonight by the way...Full Moon's coming in a couple days! On Saturday December 10th A penumbral eclipse will be visible from most of the East Coast, starting at 6:32 A.M. EST, just before the Moon sets. High tide:6:00a.m.; Low tide:12:08p.m.; Ocean temp:55°; Sunset:4:39p.m. Birthday shout out to my Dad...R.I.P. I'll always miss you.

Change-is-a-coming on the Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Mornin'! It's 70 years ago today that Pearl Harbor was attacked. A day that lives in infamy. It's 59° in Wildwood. It's dark, breezy and raining. Things are going to change up a bit as this mild weather as of late will be diminishing throughout the day today. The winds shift from SSW @ 10mph to NW @ 25-35mph and will bring with it cold and a wintry blast of 38° by tonight. The island will have periods of rain throughout the day, heavy tonight and ending tomorrow along with the much colder temps. Ah...finally it will feel like Christmas is in the air...only 18 more days! Winter begins on the 21st. High tide:5:17p.m.; Low tide:11:26a.m.; Ocean temp: 55°; Sunset:4:38p.m.

One More Mild One!
Mornin'! It's 58° in Wildwood this early morn. It's amazing that winter is 2 weeks away and the temperature is this warm. It'll be even warmer as the day progresses as we'll probably see mid-upper 60's today. The sky is cloud covered and we may even start out with some patchy fog helping to obscure today's sunrise. It'll be gray and cloudy all day with periods of scattered showers beginning later this morning and continue throughout the day and into tomorrow. A Southerly Wind (10-15mph) will be hanging around all day right into tonight then switching up from the SSW. High tide: 5:17p.m.; Low tide:11:11a.m.; Ocean temp: 55°; Sunset: 4:38p.m. 19 days until Christmas!

Unseasonably Warmer Continues
Mornin'! It's 43° on the island this early morn. It's still dark, but the horizon's looking a tad brighter as the sun's due up in less than an hour. The Sunrise looks like another beauty too since there's a little sprinkling of clouds to help with the picturesque seascape. Speaking of beauty...the day will be one as the unseasonably warmer temps will continue due to WW seeing 60° temperatures once again. As for the clouds...they'll hang around today as the forecasters are saying partly sunny/party cloudy; take your pick. Winds will drift in later from the South at 5-10mph. High tide:3:45p.m.; Low tide:9:51a.m.; Ocean Temp: 56°; Sunset: 4:39p.m. We may see some rain tomorrow in the evening. 20 days until Christmas!

First Sunday in December...Lovely!
Mornin'! It's 40° this bright, sunny morning. There's not much breeze and the sky is clear and bright after a lovely sunrise. It's going to be mild and lovely today on the island. Temps should be hitting that 60° mark once again as breezes waft in later from the S-SE at 5-10mph. High tide:3:31p.m; Low tide:9:34a.m.; Ocean temp:56°; Sunset: 4:38p.m.

Winter Beauty
Mornin'! It's 36° in WW this sunny morn. The 1st weekend in December will be a beauty as the sun and mild temps will hang around all weekend at least until Tuesday when the rains are due back. Temps will rise into the low 50's today and even higher tomorrow. The winds will be minimal as they begin wafting from the North at 10-15mph, switching from the NE by this afternoon then diminishing by tonight; just in time for the Christmas Beach Bonfire tonight which will hold at about 40°. High tide: 2:38p.m.; Low tide: 8:36a.m. and 8:52p.m.; Ocean temp: 56°; Sunset: 4:38p.m.

Seasonably Mild for Joe's birthday today!!!
Mornin'! Happy Birthday Joe! It's a nippy 30° this early morn in Wildwood. Sun's about ready to make its grand entrance as the horizon's beginning its color transformation. I especially love when that happens. The sun will stick around today as well as for the next couple days. Temps will rise into the mid-50's again making another seasonably mild, warmish kind of day. Late day clouds could roll in this late afternoon/early evening. My thoughts go right to a picturesque sunset perhaps? And, after...the Christmas Parade and tree lighting ceremonies on the island. NW winds will be entering the scene later today at 10mph. Speaking of winds...none for tomorrow night's beach bonfire which in the words of Martha Stewart...is a good thing. I'm just saying. High tide:1:02p.m.; Low tide:7:28p.m.; Ocean temp:56°; Sunset: 4:37p.m.; Enjoy your day today Joe. It's hard to believe that 34 years ago in less than an hour I was giving birth. Happy Birthday!

Welcome December! Welcome Lyla!
Mornin'! It's a brisk 39° in Wildwood. Sky is clear as the stars are the main attraction in the pre-dawn hour. Sun's due up in less than an hour as it will warm us throughout the entire day as the N-NW winds will be trying to chill us at 10-20mph. Temps will reach the low 50's once again. Temps + Sun + 57° ocean = real nice kickoff to December! By the way...20 days until Winter...the shortest day of the year. High Tide: high noon; Low tide: 6:36p.m.; Ocean temp: 57°; Sunset: 4:37p.m. Congrats to my friends Dorene & Lucas who welcomed their first child...a baby girl yesterday afternoon! Welcome Lyla!
